A linear stochastic continuity equation with non-regular coefficients is considered. We prove existence and uniqueness of strong solution, in the probabilistic sense, to the Cauchy problem when the vector field has low regularity, in which the classical DiPerna-Lions-Ambrosio theory of uniqueness of distributional solutions does not apply. We solve partially the open problem that is the case when the vector-field has random dependence. In addition, we prove a stability result for the solutions.
We use sup-convolution to find upper approximations of a bounded $m$-subharmonic function on a compact Kähler manifold with nonnegative holomorphic bisectional curvature. As an application, we show the Hölder continuity of solutions to $σ_m$ equation when the right hand side is in $L^p$, $p>\frac{n}{m}$. All these results generalize to more general complex Hessian equations.
The present article is devoted to well-posedness by noise for the continuity equation. Namely, we consider the continuity equation with non-linear and partially degenerate stochastic perturbations in divergence form. We prove the existence and uniqueness of entropy solutions under hypotheses on the velocity field which are weaker than those required in the deterministic setting. This extends related results of [Flandoli, Gubinelli, Priola; Invent. Math., 2010] applicable for linear multiplicative noise to a non-linear setting. The existence proof relies on a duality argument which makes use of…
We prove absolute continuity of the law of the solution, evaluated at fixed points in time and space, to a parabolic dissipative stochastic PDE on $L^2(G)$, where $G$ is an open bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^d$ with smooth boundary. The equation is driven by a multiplicative Wiener noise and the nonlinear drift term is the superposition operator associated to a real function which is assumed to be monotone, locally Lipschitz continuous, and growing not faster than a polynomial. The proof, which uses arguments of the Malliavin calculus, crucially relies on the well-posedness theory in the mild …
In this paper we study a non strictly systems of conservation law by stochastic perturbation. We show the existence and uniqueness of the solution. We do not assume that $BV$-regularity for the initial conditions. The proofs are based on the concept of entropy solution and in the characteristics method (in the influence of noise). This is the first result on the regularization by noise in hyperbolic systems of conservation law.
We prove a path-by-path regularization by noise result for scalar conservation laws. In particular, this proves regularizing properties for scalar conservation laws driven by fractional Brownian motion and generalizes the respective results obtained in [Gess, Souganidis; Comm. Pure Appl. Math. (2017)]. In addition, we introduce a new path-by-path scaling property which is shown to be sufficient to imply regularizing effects.
We study regularizing effects of nonlinear stochastic perturbations for fully nonlinear PDE. More precisely, path-by-path $L^{\infty}$ bounds for the second derivative of solutions to such PDE are shown. These bounds are expressed as solutions to reflected SDE and are shown to be optimal.
Existence and uniqueness of solutions to the stochastic heat equation with multiplicative spatial noise is studied. In the spirit of pathwise regularization by noise, we show that a perturbation by a sufficiently irregular continuous path establish wellposedness of such equations, even when the drift and diffusion coefficients are given as generalized functions or distributions. In addition we prove regularity of the averaged field associated to a Lévy fractional stable motion, and use this as an example of a perturbation regularizing the multiplicative stochastic heat equation.
We study pathwise regularization by noise for equations on the plane in the spirit of the framework outlined by Catellier and Gubinelli (Stochastic Process. Appl., 2016). To this end, we extend the notion of non-linear Young equations to a two dimensional domain and prove existence and uniqueness of such equations. This concept is then used in order to prove regularization by noise for stochastic equations on the plane. The statement of regularization by noise is formulated in terms of the regularity of the local time associated to the perturbing stochastic field. For this, we provide two quan…
Upper semi-continuity of random attractors and existence of invariant measures for nonlocal stochastic Swift-Hohenberg equation with multiplicative noise
In this paper we prove strong well-posedness for a system of stochastic differential equations driven by a degenerate diffusion satisfying a weak-type Hörmander condition, assuming Hölder regularity assumptions on the drift coefficient. This framework encompasses, as particular cases, stochastic Langevin systems of kinetic SDEs. The drift coefficient of the velocity component is allowed to be $α$-Hölder continuous without any restriction on the index $α$, which can be any positive number in $]0,1[$. As the deterministic counterparts of these differential systems are not well-posed, this result…
We investigate the effects of the propagation of a non-degenerate Brownian noise through a chain of deterministic differential equations whose coefficients are rough and satisfy a weak like H{ö}rmander structure (i.e. a non-degeneracy condition w.r.t. the components which transmit the noise). In particular we characterize, through suitable counterexamples , almost sharp regularity exponents that ensure that weak well posedness holds for the associated SDE. As a by-product of our approach, we also derive some density estimates of Krylov type for the weak solutions of the considered SDEs.
We establish strong uniqueness for a class of degenerate SDEs of weak H{ö}rmander type under suitable H{ö}lder regularity conditions for the associated drift term. Our approach relies on the Zvonkin transform which requires to exhibit good smoothing properties of the underlying parabolic PDE with rough, here H{ö}lder, drift coefficients and source term. Such regularizing effects are established through a perturbation technique (forward parametrix approach) which also heavily relies on appropriate duality properties on Besov spaces. For the method employed, we exhibit some sharp thresholds on t…

A modified version of the three dimensional Navier-Stokes equations is considered with periodic boundary conditions. A bounded constant delay is introduced into the convective term, that produces a regularizing effect on the solution. In fact, by assuming appropriate regularity on the initial data, the solutions of the delayed equations are proved to be regular and, as a consequence, existence and also uniqueness of a global weak solution is obtained. Moreover, the associated flow is constructed and the continuity of the semigroup is proved. Finally, we investigate the passage to the limit on …
Tikhonov regularization is studied in the case of linear pseudodifferential operator as the forward map and additive white Gaussian noise as the measurement error. The measurement model for an unknown function $u(x)$ is \begin{eqnarray*} m(x) = Au(x) + δ\hspace{.2mm}\varepsilon(x), \end{eqnarray*} where $δ>0$ is the noise magnitude. If $\varepsilon$ was an $L^2$-function, Tikhonov regularization gives an estimate \begin{eqnarray*} T_α(m) = \text{argmin}_{u\in H^r}\big\{\|A u-m\|_{L^2}^2+ α\|u\|_{H^r}^2 \big\}\end{eqnarray*} for $u$ where $α=α(δ)$ is the regularization parameter. Here penalizat…
We consider the initial-value problem for stochastic continuity equations of the form $$ \partial_t ρ+ \text{div}_h \left[ρ\left(u(t,x) + \sum_{i=1}^N a_i(x)\circ \frac{dW^i}{dt}\right)\right] = 0, $$ defined on a smooth closed Riemanian manifold $M$ with metric $h$, where the Sobolev regular velocity field $u$ is perturbed by Gaussian noise terms $\dot{W}_i(t)$ driven by smooth spatially dependent vector fields $a_i(x)$ on $M$. Our main result is that weak ($L^2$) solutions are renormalized solutions, that is, if $ρ$ is a weak solution, then the nonlinear composition $S(ρ)$ is a weak solution…
