We discuss the 4pt function of the critical 3d Ising model, extracted from recent conformal bootstrap results. We focus on the non-gaussianity Q - the ratio of the 4pt function to its gaussian part given by three Wick contractions. This ratio reveals significant non-gaussianity of the critical fluctuations. The bootstrap results are consistent with a rigorous inequality due to Lebowitz and Aizenman, which limits Q to lie between 1/3 and 1.
In this paper we study the annealed coupling of an Ising model with 2-dimensional causal dynamical triangulation model. After a short review of previous results, we prove the existence of the so-called critical line and derive its analytical properties and asymptotics. In addition, relations between the model and its dual are investigated.
We investigate the critical behaviour of the two-dimensional Ising model defined on a curved surface with a constant negative curvature. Finite-size scaling analysis reveals that the critical exponents for the zero-field magnetic susceptibility and the correlation length deviate from those for the Ising lattice model on a flat plane. Furthermore, when reducing the effects of boundary spins, the values of the critical exponents tend to those derived from the mean field theory. These findings evidence that the underlying geometric character is responsible for the critical properties the Ising mo…
The non-equilibrium ageing behaviour of the 3D and 4D critical Ising spin glass is studied for both binary and gaussian disorder. The same phenomenology of the time-dependent scaling as in non-disordered magnets is found but the non-equilibrium exponents and the universal limit fluctuation-dissipation ratio depend on the distribution of the coupling constants.
We show that scale invariant scattering theory allows to exactly determine the critical points of two-dimensional systems with coupled $O(N)$ and Ising order pameters. The results are obtained for $N$ continuous and include criticality of loop gas type. In particular, for $N=1$ we exhibit three critical lines intersecting at the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless transition point of the Gaussian model and related to the $Z_4$ symmetry of the isotropic Ashkin-Teller model. For $N=2$ we classify the critical points that can arise in the XY-Ising model and provide exact answers about the critical ex…
We perform Monte-Carlo simulations of the three-dimensional Ising model at the critical temperature and zero magnetic field. We simulate the system in a ball with free boundary conditions on the two dimensional spherical boundary. Our results for one and two point functions in this geometry are consistent with the predictions from the conjectured conformal symmetry of the critical Ising model.
Using previous results from boundary conformal field theory and integrability, a phase diagram is derived for the 2 dimensional Ising model at its bulk tri-critical point as a function of boundary magnetic field and boundary spin-coupling constant. A boundary tri-critical point separates phases where the spins on the boundary are ordered or disordered. In the latter range of coupling constant, there is a non-zero critical field where the magnetization is singular. In the former range, as the temperature is lowered, the boundary undergoes a first order transition while the bulk simultaneously u…
We present results of a Monte Carlo study for the ferromagnetic Ising model with long range interactions in two dimensions. This model has been simulated for a large range of interaction parameter $σ$ and for large sizes. We observe that the results close to the change of regime from intermediate to short range do not agree with the renormalization group predictions.
Two defect lines separated by a distance delta look from much larger distances like a single defect. In the critical theory, when all scales are large compared to the cutoff scale, this fusion of defect lines is universal. We calculate the universal fusion rule in the critical 2D Ising model and show that it is given by the Verlinde algebra of primary fields, combined with group multiplication in O(1,1)/Z_2. Fusion is in general singular and requires the subtraction of a divergent Casimir energy.
Given a conformal data on a flat Euclidean space, we use crosscap conformal bootstrap equations to numerically solve the Lee-Yang model as well as the critical Ising model on a three-dimensional real projective space. We check the rapid convergence of our bootstrap program in two-dimensions from the exact solutions available. Based on the comparison, we estimate that our systematic error on the numerically solved one-point functions of the critical Ising model on a three-dimensional real projective space is less than one percent. Our method opens up a novel way to solve conformal field theorie…
We discribe a simple way to derive spin correlation functions in 2D Ising model at critical temperature but with nonzero magnetic field at the boundary. Local magnetization (i.e. one-point function) is computed explicitly for half-plane and disk geometries.
We study the ferromagnetic Ising model with long-range interactions in two dimensions. We first present results of a Monte Carlo study which shows that the long-range interactions dominate over the short-range ones in the intermediate regime of interaction range. Based on a renormalization group analysis, we propose a way of computing the influence of the long-range interactions as a dimensional change.
We obtain an explicit realization of all the primary fields of the Ising model in terms of a conformal field theory of constrained fermions. The four-point correlators of the energy, order and disorder operators are explicitly calculated.
We study the scaling of the traces of the integer powers of the partially transposed reduced density matrix and of the entanglement negativity for two spin blocks as function of their length and separation in the critical Ising chain. For two adjacent blocks, we show that tensor network calculations agree with universal conformal field theory (CFT) predictions. In the case of two disjoint blocks the CFT predictions are recovered only after taking into account the finite size corrections induced by the finite length of the blocks.
We study the scaling of the Renyi and entanglement entropy of two disjoint blocks of critical Ising models, as function of their sizes and separations. We present analytic results based on conformal field theory that are quantitatively checked in numerical simulations of both the quantum spin chain and the classical two dimensional Ising model. Theoretical results match the ones obtained from numerical simulations only after taking properly into account the corrections induced by the finite length of the blocks to their leading scaling behavior.
We consider layered two-dimensional Ising and directed walk models and show that the two problems are inherently related. The information about the zero-field thermodynamical properties of the Ising model is contained into the transfer matrix of the directed walk. For several hierarchical and aperiodic distributions of the couplings, critical exponents for the two problems are obtained exactly through renormalization.
We introduce three non-local observables for the two-dimensional Ising model. At criticality, conformal field theory may be used to obtain theoretical predictions for their behavior. These formulae are explicit enough to show that their asymptotics are described by highest weights $h_{pq}$ from the Kac table for c=1/2 distinct from those of the three unitary representations (0, 1/16 and 1/2).
We compute the exact partition function of the 2D Ising Model at critical temperature but with nonzero magnetic field at the boundary. The model describes a renormalization group flow between the free and fixed conformal boundary conditions in the space of boundary interactions. For this flow the universal ground state degeneracy $g$ and the full boundary state is computed exactly.
A Lifshitz scalar with the dynamical critical exponent z = 3 obtains scale-invariant, super-horizon field fluctuations without the need of an inflationary era. Since this mechanism is due to the special scaling of the Lifshitz scalar and persists in the presence of unsuppressed self-couplings, the resulting fluctuation spectrum can deviate from a Gaussian distribution. We study the non-Gaussian nature of the Lifshitz scalar's intrinsic field fluctuations, and show that primordial curvature perturbations sourced from such field fluctuations can have large non-Gaussianity of order f_NL = O(100),…
We compute the combined two and three loop order correction to the spin-spin correlation functions for the 2D Ising and q-states Potts model with random bonds at the critical point. The procedure employed is the renormalisation group approach for the perturbation series around the conformal field theories representing the pure models. We obtain corrections for the correlations functions which produce crossover in the amplitude but don't change the critical exponent in the case of the Ising model and which produce a shift in the critical exponent, due to randomness, in the case of the Potts mod…
Typically cold inflation with positive vacuum energy density dilutes all matter except the quan- tum fluctuations which are stretched outside the Hubble patch during inflation. However the cyclic- inflation scenario, where the universe undergoes many many asymmetric cycles leading to an overall exponential growth, operates in the presence of thermal matter. Thus, while some of the nice prop- erties of cold inflation is preserved, in cyclic inflationary models thermal excitations are continually produced and there exists a unique opportunity of imprinting interesting thermal history in CMBR. In…
