In this paper, we study the covariant form of the non-relativistic Schrodinger-Pauli equation in the space-time generated by a cosmic string and discuss the solutions of this equation in present of interaction between the magnetic dipole momentum and electromagnetic field. We study the influence of the topology on this system. We obtain the solution of radial part as well as the energy levels. We consider all thermodynamic properties of neutral particle in magnetic cosmic string background by using an approach based on the partition function method.
Recently we have shown [1604.08812] how to formulate a thermodynamic first law for a single (charged) accelerated black hole in AdS space by fixing the conical deficit angles present in the spacetime. Here we show how to generalise this result, formulating thermodynamics for black holes with varying conical deficits. We derive a new potential for the varying tension defects: the "thermodynamic length", both for accelerating and static black holes. We discuss possible physical processes in which the tension of a string ending on a black hole might vary, and also map out the thermodynamic phase …
In this work, employing the generalized off-shell free energy, we treat black hole solutions as defects in the thermodynamic parameter space. The results show that the positive and negative winding numbers corresponding to the defects indicate the local thermodynamical stable and unstable black hole solutions, respectively. The topological number $W$ defined as the sum of the winding numbers for all the black hole branches at an arbitrary given temperature is found to be a universal number independent of the black hole parameters. Moreover, this topological number only depends on the thermodyn…
In this paper, we determine thermodynamical quantities for one kind of higher dimensional black holes. We take two charged and neutral blackfold which are higher dimension. We investigate the thermodynamical properties of such black hole at near horizon. By expanding those metrics around horizon, considering periodicity condition of imaginary time and applying some thermodynamical constraints, we extract stress energy tensor of blackfolds. We compare the thermodynamical properties of charged and neutral blackfold. We see here that the stress energy tensor of charged blackfold has brane-tension…
The exact analytical lattice results for the partition function of the free neutral scalar field in one spatial dimension in both the configuration and the momentum space were obtained in the framework of the path integral method. The symmetric square matrices of the bilinear forms on the vector space of fields in both configuration space and momentum space were found explicitly. The exact lattice results for the partition function were generalized to the three-dimensional spatial momentum space and the main thermodynamic quantities were derived both on the lattice and in the continuum limit. …
We initiated the program to look for new and simple forms for the five-dimensional rotating squashed black holes by solving directly the equation of motion. In a recent paper, the metric ansatz of dimensional reduction along the fifth spatial dimension was used to obtain a new but rather simple form for the five-dimensional rotating uncharged black hole solution with squashed horizons via solving the vacuum Einstein field equations. In this work, we continue to seek for another new but relatively simple form for the neutral rotating squashed black hole solution by using a different metric ansa…
For a pure SU(2) Yang-Mills theory in 4D we revisit the spatial (3D), ball-like region of radius $r_0$, in its bulk subject to the pressureless, deconfining phase at $T_0=1.32\,T_c$ where $T_c$ denotes the critical temperature for the onset of the deconfining-preconfining phase transition. Such a region possesses of a finite energy density and represents the self-intersection of a figure-eight shaped center-vortex loop if a BPS monopole of core radius $\sim \frac{r_0}{52.4}$, isolated from its antimonopole by repulsion externally invoked through a transient shift of (anti)caloron holonomy (pai…
In the generalized off-shell free energy landscape, black holes can be treated as thermodynamic topological defects. The local topological properties of the spacetime can be reflected by the winding numbers at the defects, while the global topological nature can be classified by the topological number which is the sum of all local winding numbers. We propose that the winding numbers can be calculated via the residues of isolated one-order pole points of characterized functions constructed from the off-shell free energy. Using the residue method, we show that the topologies of black holes can b…
Understanding the dynamic process of the thermodynamic phase transition can provide the deep insight into the black hole microscopic properties and structures. We in this paper study the dynamic properties of the stable small-large black hole phase transition for the five-dimensional neutral Gauss-Bonnet AdS black hole. Firstly, by using the first law of black holes, we prove that the extremal points of the free energy on the landscape denote the real black hole solutions satisfying the field equations. The local maximal and minimal points correspond to local unstable and stable black hole sta…
The thermodynamics of quantum chromodynamics at low temperatures and in sufficiently strong magnetic fields is governed by neutral pions. We analyze the interacting system of neutral pions and photons at zero baryon chemical potential using effective field theory. As a consequence of the axial anomaly and the external magnetic field, the pions and photons mix with one another. The resulting spectrum contains one usual, relativistic photon state, and two nonrelativistic modes, one of which is gapless and the other gapped. Furthermore, we calculate the leading, one-loop contribution to the press…
We present a model independent, operator algebraic approach to non-equilibrium quantum thermodynamics within the framework of two-dimensional Conformal Field Theory. Two infinite reservoirs in equilibrium at their own temperatures and chemical potentials are put in contact through a defect line, possibly by inserting a probe. As time evolves, the composite system then approaches a non-equilibrium steady state that we describe. In particular, we re-obtain recent formulas of Bernard and Doyon.
