It is well known that some black holes can act as accelerators for particles without spin. Recently, there are some works considering collision of two spinning particles in the background of Schwarzschild and Kerr black holes and it was shown that {the center-of-mass energy of the test particles is related to the spin}. In this paper we extend the results to some more general cases. We consider Kerr-Newman black holes as accelerators for spinning particles. We derive the center-of-mass energy of the spinning particles and use numerical method to investigate how the center-of-mass energy is affected by the properties of the black holes and spinning particles.
In this paper we have studied particle collision around a spinning dilaton black hole in 2 +1 dimensions. This black hole is a solution to the low energy string theory in 2+1 dimensions. Time-like geodesics are presented in detail and the center of mass energy of two particles collision at the horizon of a spinning black hole is considered. We noticed that there is a possibility of the two masses to create infinite center of mass energy.
It is shown that in the Schwarzschild background there exists direct counterpart of the Bañados-Silk-West effect for spinning particles. This means that if two particles collide near the black hole horizon, their energy in the centre of mass frame can grow unbounded. In doing so, the crucial role is played by so-called near-critical trajectories when particle's parameters are almost fine-tuned. Direct scenario of the collision under discussion is possible with restriction on the energy-to-mass ratio \thinspace $E/m<\frac{1}{2\sqrt{3}}$ only. However, if one takes into account multiple scatteri…
In this paper we investigate the innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) for a classical spinning test particle in the background of Kerr-Newman black hole. It is shown that the orbit of the spinning particle is related to the spin of the test particle. The motion of the spinning test particle will be superluminal if its spin is too large. We give an additional condition by considering the superluminal constraint for the ISCO in the black hole backgrounds. We obtain numerically the relations between the ISCO and the properties of the black holes and the test particle. It is found that the radiu…
It is shown that the Kerr black hole could act as accelerators for spinning particles. In principle, it could obtain arbitrarily high energy for extremal Kerr black hole. In this paper, we extend the previous research to the Kerr-(anti-)de Sitter background and find that the cosmological constant plays an important role in the result. For the case of Kerr-anti-de Sitter black holes, like the Kerr background, only the extremal Kerr-anti-de Sitter black holes can have a divergent center-of-mass energy of collision. While, for the case of Kerr-de Sitter black holes, the collision of two spinning …
It has been shown that ultraenergetic collisions can occur near the horizon of an extremal Kerr black hole. Previous studies mainly focused on geodesic motions of particles. In this paper, we consider spinning test particles whose orbits are non-geodesic. By employing the Mathisson-Papapetrou-Dixon equation, we find the critical angular momentum satisfies $J=2E$ for extremal Kerr black holes. Although the conserved angular momentum $J$ and energy $E$ have been redefined in the presence of spin, the critical condition remains the same form. If a particle with this angular momentum collides with…
By using the ultra-spinning limit as a generating solution technique, we construct a novel class of charged rotating asymptotic AdS black holes. That describes the exact D-dimnsioanl solutions of Einstein-Maxwell dilaton theory in the presence of negative cosmological constant. The obtained geometries possess some punctures, describing a noncompact horizon, but has a finite area. We then explicitly investigate the validity of the Kerr/CFT correspondence for all dimensional cases. We find a main result for the central charges associated to $[(d-1)/2]$ copies of dual $2D$ CFTs. We then argue the…
It has been proved that arbitrarily high-energy collision between two particles can occur near the horizon of an extremal Kerr black hole as long as the energy $E$ and angular momentum $L$ of one particle satisfies a critical relation, which is called the BSW mechanism. Previous researchers mainly concentrate on geodesic motion of particles. In this paper, we will take spinning particle which won't move along a timelike geodesic into our consideration, hence, another parameter $s$ describing the particle's spin angular momentum was introduced. By employing the Mathisson-Papapetrou-Dixon equati…
It is known that the center-of-mass energy of the collision of two massive particles following geodesics around a black hole presents a maximum. The maximum energy increases when the black hole is endowed with spin, and for a maximally rotating hole this energy blows up, offering, in principle, a unique probe of fundamental physics. This work extends the latter studies by considering that the colliding particles possess intrinsic angular momentum (spin), described by the Hanson-Regge-Hojman theory of spinning particles. By analyzing planar trajectories of spinning particles around non-rotating…
When two particles collide at the horizon of a black hole and one of them satisfies some critical conditions, the relative velocity between them can be arbitrarily large, thus the energy of the center-of-mass will reach infinity. Such a process is called BSW mechanism which can accelerate a particle to arbitrarily high energy. There are also some studies showing that a Kerr naked singularity can be more qualified as a particle accelerator for arbitrarily high energy. Previous researchers mainly concentrate on geodesic motion of particles. In this paper, we will take spinning particles which wo…
It has recently been pointed out that the spinning Kerr black hole with maximal spin could act as a particle collider with arbitrarily high center-of-mass energy. In this paper, we will extend the result to the charged spinning black hole, the Kerr-Newman black hole. The center-of-mass energy of collision for two uncharged particles falling freely from rest at infinity depends not only on the spin $a$ but also on the charge $Q$ of the black hole. We find that an unlimited center-of-mass energy can be approached with the conditions: (1) the collision takes place at the horizon of an extremal bl…
We investigate the motion of massive charged and spinning test particles around a charged dyonic black hole spacetime surrounded by perfect fluid scalar dark matter field. We obtain the equations of motion and find the expressions for the four-velocity for the case of a charged particle, and four-momentum components for the case of a spinning particle. The trajectories for various values of electric $Q_{e}$ and magnetic $Q_{m}$ charges are investigated under the influence of dark matter field $λ$. We find the equations of motion of a spinning particle that follows a non-geodesic trajectory via…
We study the collision of two massive particles with non-zero intrinsic spin moving in the equatorial plane in the background of a Schwarzschild black hole surrounded by quintessential matter field (SBHQ). For the quintessential matter equation of state (EOS) parameter, we assume three different values. It is shown that for collisions outside the event horizon, but very close to it, the centre-of-mass energy ($E_{\rm CM}$) can grow without bound if exactly one of the colliding particles is what we call near-critical, i.e., if its constants of motion are fine tuned such that the time component …
The spinning-hairy black holes that occur in Einstein gravity supplemented by a doublet of complex scalar fields are constructed within an extension of the model by a $U(1)$ gauge symmetry involving a massless vector potential. The hairy black holes then acquire an electric charge and a magnetic moment; their domain of existence is discussed in terms of the gauge coupling constant.
The effects of a paritcle's spin and electric charge on its angular momentum, energy and radius on the innermost stable circular orbit are investigated based on the particle's equations of motion in a background of the Kerr-Newmann spacetime. It is found that the particle's angular momentum and energy have monotonous relationships with not only its spin but also its charge; it is also discovered that the spinning particle's radius may change non-monotonously with its charge. Hence, our result remarkably indicates that particles owning identical spin but different charge may degenerate into a s…
By taking the ultra-spinning limit as a simple solution-generating trick, a novel class of ultra-spinning charged black hole solutions has been constructed from Chow's rotating charged black hole with two equal-charge parameters in six-dimensional $\mathcal{N} = 4$ gauged supergravity theory. We investigate their thermodynamical properties and then demonstrate that all thermodynamical quantities completely obey both the differential first law and the Bekenstein-Smarr mass formula. For the six-dimensional ultra-spinning Chow's black hole with only one rotation parameter, we show that it does no…
In this paper the motion of charged and uncharged test particles in the rotating nonlinearly charged black hole is examined. Its asymptotics can be de Sitter or anti-de Sitter, depending on the value of the nonlinear parameter; consequently this BH can present one, two or three horizons, the third one being the cosmological horizon in the de Sitter case. Angular and radial test particle motions are analyzed and compared with its linear electromagnetic counterpart, the Kerr-Newman black hole (KN-BH). Several differences arise with the KN-BH, namely, the equatorial asymmetry is enhanced by the N…
For non-spinning, charged (Reissner-Nordström) black holes, the particles with an opposite sign of charge with respect to that of the black hole will be pulled into the black hole by the extra electromagnetic force. Such a hole will be quickly neutralized so that there should not exist significantly charged, non-spinning black holes in the universe. The case of spinning, charged (Kerr-Newmann) black holes is more complicated. For a given initial position and initial velocity of the particle, an oppositely charged particle does not always more easily fall into the black hole than a neutral part…
In this paper we have studied particle collisions around a charged dilaton black hole in 2+1 dimensions. This black hole is a solution to the low energy string action in 2+1 dimensions. Time-like geodesics for charged particles are studied in detail. The center of mass energy for two charged particles colliding closer to the horizon is calculated and shown to be infinite if one of the particles has the critical charge.
We present a method to construct conformally curved initial data for charged black hole binaries with spin on arbitrary orbits. We generalize the superposed Kerr-Schild, extended conformal thin sandwich construction from [Lovelace et al., Phys. Rev. D {78}, 084017 (2008)] to use Kerr-Newman metrics for the superposed black holes and to solve the electromagnetic constraint equations. We implement the construction in the pseudospectral code SGRID. The code thus provides a complementary and completely independent excision-based construction, compared to the existing charged black hole initial dat…
We study the motion of charged and spinning particles and photons in the $4D$ charged Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) black hole vicinity. We determine the radius of the innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) for test particles. We show that the combined effect of the Gauss-Bonnet (GB) coupling parameter and black hole charge decreases the ISCO and the radius of the photon sphere. Further, we study the gravitational deflection angle and show that the impact of GB term and black hole charge on it is quite noticeable. We also consider the effect of plasma and find the analytical form of the deflecti…
The Mathisson-Papapetrou equations are used for investigations of influence of the spin-gravity coupling on a highly relativistic spinning particle in Schwarzschild's field. It is established that interaction of the particle spin with the gravitomagnetic components of the field, estimated in the proper frame of the particle, causes the large acceleration of the spinning particle relative to geodesic free fall. As a result the accelerated charged spinning particle can generate intensive electromagnetic radiation when its velocity is highly relativistic. The significant contribution of the highl…
A test particle possessing spin angular momentum moves along a non-geodesic path due to an additional spin-curvature force. We study the spinning test particle moving in the vicinity of the electrically charged black hole formation in Eddington-inspired Born-Infeld (EiBI) gravity. Through the numerical analysis of its effective potential and orbits, it is found that the orbital eccentricity reduces as the deviation parameter $κ$ increases. By comparing the orbits for the observed stars around Sagittarius A*, we conclude that the observed orbits with too large radii can not give a stringent con…

Angular momentum balance is examined in the context of the electrodynamics of a spinning charged sphere, which is allowed to possess any variable angular velocity. We calculate the electric and magnetic fields of the (hollow) sphere, and express them as expansions in powers of $τ/t_c \ll 1$, the ratio of the light-travel time $τ$ across the sphere and the characteristic time scale $t_c$ of variation of the angular velocity. From the fields we compute the self-torque exerted by the fields on the sphere, and argue that only a piece of this self-torque can be associated with radiation reaction. T…

We explore some implications of our previous proposal, motivated in part by the Generalised Uncertainty Principle (GUP) and the possibility that black holes have quantum mechanical hair that the ADM mass of a system has the form $M + βM_\mathrm{Pl}^2/(2M)$, where $M$ is the bare mass, $M_\mathrm{Pl}$ is the Planck mass and $β$ is a positive constant. This also suggests some connection between black holes and elementary particles and supports the suggestion that gravity is self-complete. We extend our model to charged and rotating black holes, since this is clearly relevant to elementary partic…
Employing the thermodynamic geometry approach, we explore phase transition of four dimensional spinning black holes in an anti-de Sitter (AdS) spaces and found the following novel results. (i) Contrary to the charged AdS black hole, thermodynamic curvature of the spinning AdS black hole diverges at the critical point, without needing normalization.(ii) There is a certain region with small entropy in the space of parameters for which the thermodynamic curvature is positive and the repulsive interaction dominates. Such behavior exists even when the pressure is extremely large. (iii) The dominant…
We present fully general relativistic simulations of the quasi-circular inspiral and merger of charged, non-spinning, binary black holes with charge-to-mass ratio $λ\le 0.3$. We discuss the key features that enabled long term and stable evolutions of these binaries. We also present a formalism for computing the angular momentum carried away by electromagnetic waves, and the electromagnetic contribution to black-hole horizon properties. We implement our formalism and present the results for the first time in numerical-relativity simulations. In addition, we compare our full non-linear solutions…
