Due to off-center relativistic motion of the charged spectators and the local momentum-imbalance of the participants, a short-lived huge magnetic field is likely generated, especially in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. In determining the temperature dependence of bulk and shear viscosities of the QCD matter in vanishing and finite magnetic field, we utilize mean field approximation to the SU($3$) Polyakov linear-sigma model (PLSM). We compare between the results from two different approaches; Green-Kubo correlation and Boltzmann master equation with Chapman-Enskog expansion. We find that both approaches have almost identical results, especially in the hadron phase. In the temperature dependence of bulk and shear viscosities relative to thermal entropy at the critical temperature, there is a rapid decrease in the chiral phase-transition and in the critical temperature with increasing magnetic field. As the magnetic field strength increases, a peak appears at the critical temperature ($T_c$). This can be understood from the small drop on the thermal entropy at $T_c$, which can be interpreted due to instability in the hydrodynamic flow of the quark-gluon plasma and soft statistical hadronization. It is obvious that, increasing magnetic field accelerates the transition from hadron to QGP phases (inverse catalysis), i.e., taking place at lower temperatures.
We compare results from the Polyakov linear-sigma model (PLSM) in optimized perturbation theory (OPT) with the mean-field approximation (MFA). At finite temperatures and chemical potentials, the chiral condensates and the decofinement order parameters, the thermodynamic pressure, the pseudo-critical temperatures, the subtracted condensates, the second- and high-order moments of various conserved charges (cumulants) obtained in MFA are compared with OPT and also confronted to available lattice QCD simulations. We conclude that when moving from lower- to higher-order moments of various quantum c…
We have computed shear viscosity coefficient for hot and dense QCD matter within Polyakov loop extended quark meson(PQM) model for three flavors. Viscosity coefficient is estimated using Boltzmann equation within the relaxation time approximation. Relaxation times for quarks are calculated from elastic scattering of quarks and antiquarks via gluon exchange. Also the mean free paths of strange and light quarks are estimated for this cases. The calculations are performed at finite chemical potential. Thermodynamic properties like energy, pressure, entropy densities are also computed and compared…
In this work, we show the dependence of bulk viscosity on Polyakov loop in 3+1 dimensional topologically massive model (TMM). This model contains equally massive non-Abelian gauge fields without spontaneous symmetry breaking. In earlier works, the bulk viscosity was found from the trace anomaly in massless $ϕ^4$ model and Yang-Mills (YM) theory and its dependence on the quantum corrections was established. In TMM, the trace anomaly is absent due to the presence of kinetic term of a two-form field $B$ in the action. This model also provides the dependence of bulk viscosity on the mass of the ga…
The meson masses and mixing angles have been calculated for the scalar and pseudoscalar sector in the framework of the generalized 2+1 flavor Polyakov loop augmented quark meson linear sigma model. We have given the results for two different forms of the effective Polyakov loop potential. The comparison of results with the existing calculations in the bare 2+1 quark meson linear sigma model, shows that the restoration of chiral symmetry becomes sharper due to the influence of the Polyakov loop potential. We find that inclusion of the Polyakov loop in quark meson linear sigma model together wit…
We discuss a detailed study of the variation of shear viscosity, $η$, with temperature and baryon chemical potential within the framework of Polyakov$-$Nambu$-$Jona-Lasinio model. $η$ is found to depend strongly on the spectral width of the quasi-particles present in the model. The variation of $η$ across the phase diagram has distinctive features for different kinds of transitions. These variations have been used to study the possible location of the Critical End Point (CEP), and cross-checked with similar studies of variation of specific heat. Finally using a parameterization of freeze-out s…
Dual meson condensates as possible order parameters for deconfinement are investigated in a Polyakov-loop enhanced linear sigma model of QCD at both zero and finite isospin chemical potential $μ_I$. We find that the rapid rise of the dual sigma condensate (corresponding to the dressed Polyakov-loop) with $T$ is driven by the chiral transition, no matter whether the Polyakov-loop dynamics is included or not. For $μ_I>m_π/2$, the dual sigma condensate shows abnormal thermal behavior which even decreases with $T$ below the melting temperature $T_c^{I_3}$ of pion superfluidity; On the other hand, …
In the present work, we analyse the effects of an external magnetic field on the chiral critical temperature $T_c$ of strongly interacting matter. In doing this, we can characterize the magnetic properties of the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) strong interacting matter, the quark-gluon plasma (QGP). We investigate this in the framework of the SU(3) Polyakov linear sigma-model (PLSM). To this end, we implement two approaches representing two systems, in which the Polyakov-loop potential added to PLMS either renormalized or non-normalized. The effects of Landau quantization on the strongly interac…
In order to characterize the higher order moments of the particle multiplicity, we implement the linear-sigma model with Polyakov-loop correction. We first studied the critical phenomena and estimated some thermodynamic quantities. Then, we compared all these results with the first--principle lattice QCD calculations. Then, the extensive study of non-normalized four moments is followed by investigating their thermal and density dependence. We repeat this for moments normalized to temperature and chemical potential. The fluctuations of the second order moment is used to estimate the chiral phas…
In characterizing the chiral phase-structure of pseudoscalars ($J^{pc}=0^{-+}$), scalars ($J^{pc}=0^{++}$), vectors ($J^{pc}=1^{--}$) and axial-vectors ($J^{pc}=1^{++}$) meson states and their dependence on temperature, chemical potential, and magnetic fields, we utilize SU($3$) Polyakov linear-sigma model (PLSM) in mean-field approximation. We first determine the chiral (non)strange quark condensates, $σ_l$ and $σ_s$ and the corresponding deconfinement order parameters, $ϕ$ and $ϕ^*$, respectively, in thermal and dense (finite chemical potential) medium and finite magnetic field. The temperat…
Inhibition of splitting of the chiral and deconfinement transition due to rotation in QCD: the phase diagram of linear sigma model coupled to Polyakov loop
The SU(4) Polyakov linear sigma model (PLSM) is extended towards characterizing the chiral condensates, $σ_l$, $σ_s$ and $σ_c$ of light, strange and charm quarks, respectively and the deconfinement order-parameters $ϕ$ and $\barϕ$ at finite temperatures and densities (chemical potentials). The PLSM is considered to study the QCD equation of state in the presence of the chiral condensate of charm for different finite chemical potentials. The PLSM results are in a good agreement with the recent lattice QCD simulations. We conclude that, the charm condensate is likely not affected by the QCD phas…
In mean field approximation, the grand canonical potential of SU(3) Polyakov linear-$σ$ model (PLSM) is analysed for chiral phase-transition, $σ_l$ and $σ_s$ and for deconfinement order-parameters, $ϕ$ and $ϕ^*$ of light- and strange-quarks, respectively. Various PLSM parameters are determined from the assumption of global minimization of the real part of the potential. Then, we have calculated the subtracted condensates ($Δ_{l,s}$). All these results are compared with recent lattice QCD simulations. Accordingly, essential PLSM parameters are determined. The modelling of the relaxation time is…
The phase diagram at finite temperature and density is investigated in the framework of the Polyakov linear sigma model (PLSM) with three light quark flavors in the mean field approximation. It is found that in the PLSM, the three phase transitions, i.e, the chiral restoration of $u,d$ quarks, the chiral restoration of $s$ quark, and the deconfinement phase transition are independent. There exists two-flavor quarkyonic phase at low density and three-flavor quarkyonic phase at high density. The critical end point (CEP) which separating the crossover from the first-order line in the PLSM model i…
The SU($3$) Polyakov linear-sigma model (PLSM) in mean-field approximation is utilized in analyzing the chiral condensates $σ_u$, $σ_d$, $σ_s$ and the deconfinement order parameters $ϕ$, $\barϕ$, at finite isospin asymmetry. The bulk thermodynamics including pressure density, interaction measure, susceptibility, and second-order correlations with baryon, strange and electric charge quantum numbers are studied in thermal and dense medium. The PLSM results are confronted to the available lattice QCD calculations. The excellent agreement obtained strengthens the reliability of fixing the PLSM par…
Finite size consideration of matter significantly affects transport coefficients like shear viscosity, bulk viscosity, electrical conductivity, which we have investigated here in the framework of the Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. Owing to the basic quantum mechanics, a non-zero lower momentum cut-off is implemented in momentum integrations, used in the expressions of constituent quark masses and transport coefficients. When the system size decreases, the values of these trans- port coefficients are enhanced in low temperature range. At high temperature domain, shear viscos- ity and electr…
We consider QCD near but above critical temperature Tc. The pressure, susceptibilities and the renormalized Polyakov loop -- which is an order parameter for the deconfining phase transition -- dramatically change up to temperatures a few times Tc. We refer to this region as a "semi"-QGP, where partial confinement plays important role. We show that the shear viscosity ,eta, is suppressed by two powers of the Polyakov loop. This suggests that eta/T^3 decreases markedly as QCD cools down to temperatures near Tc. We also show a ratio of the viscosity to the entropy becomes small near Tc.
The linear-sigma model, in which information about confining gluons is included through the Polyakov-loop potential (PLSM), is considered in order to perform a systematic study for various magnetic properties of QCD matter under extreme conditions of high temperatures and densities and finite magnetic field strengths. The introduction of magnetic field to the PLSM Lagrangian requires suitable utilization of Landau quantization, modification in the dispersion relations, and momentum-space dimension-reduction. We observed that increasing the magnetic field leads to filling-up lower Landau levels…
We compute the transport coefficients, namely, the coefficients of shear and bulk viscosities as well as thermal conductivity for hot and dense matter. The calculations are performed within the Polyakov quark meson model. The estimation of the transport coefficients is made using the Boltzmann kinetic equation within the relaxation time approximation. The energy dependent relaxation time is estimated from meson meson scattering, quark meson scattering and quark quark scattering within the model. In our calculations, the shear viscosity to entropy ratio and the coefficient of thermal conductivi…
The derivative of the grand potential in mean field approximation, non-strange and strange condensates and deconfinement phase-transition in thermal and dense hadronic medium are verified in extended SU(3) linear sigma-model (eLSM). In determining the chiral phase-transition, the chiral condensates sigma_x and sigma_y are analysed. The chiral mesonic phase-structures in temperature- and density-dependence are taken as free parameters to be fitted. These parameters are classified corresponding to scalar meson nonets; (pseudo)-scalar and (axial)-vector. For deconfinement phase-transition, effect…

In the framework of an SU(3) (axial)vector meson extended linear sigma model with additional constituent quarks and Polyakov loops, we investigate the effects of (axial)vector mesons on the chiral phase transition. The parameters of the Lagrangian are set at zero temperature and we use a hybrid approach where in the effective potential the constituent quarks are treated at one-loop level and all the mesons at tree-level. We have four order parameters, two scalar condensates and two Polyakov loop variables and their temperature and baryochemical potential dependence are determined from the corr…
We investigate the quark backreaction on the Polyakov loop and its impact on the thermodynamics of quantum chromodynamics. The dynamics of the gluons generating the Polyakov-loop potential is altered by the presence of dynamical quarks. However, this backreaction of the quarks has not yet been taken into account in Polyakov-loop extended model studies. In the present work, we show within a 2+1 flavour Polyakov-quark-meson model that a quark-improved Polyakov-loop potential leads to a smoother transition between the low-temperature hadronic phase and the high-temperature quark-gluon plasma phas…
We consider the $(2+1)$ flavor Polyakov Quark Meson Model and study the effect of including fermion vacuum fluctuations on the thermodynamics and phase diagram. The resulting model predictions are compared to the recent QCD lattice simulations by the HotQCD and Wuppertal-Budapest collaborations. The variation of the thermodynamic quantities across the phase transition region becomes smoother. This results in better agreement with the lattice data. Depending on the value of the mass of the sigma meson, including the vacuum term results in either pushing the critical end point into higher values…
We investigate the properties of scalar and pseudo-scalar mesons at finite temperature and quark chemical potential in the framework of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model coupled to the Polyakov loop (PNJL model) with the aim of taking into account features of both chiral symmetry breaking and deconfinement. The mesonic correlators are obtained by solving the Schwinger-Dyson equation in the RPA approximation with the Hartree (mean field) quark propagator at finite temperature and density. In the phase of broken chiral symmetry a narrower width for the sigma meson is obtained with respect to th…
We analyse the role of the quark backreaction on the gauge-field dynamics and its impact on the Polyakov-loop potential. Based on our analysis we construct an improved Polyakov-loop potential that can be used in future model studies. In the present work, we employe this improved potential in a study of a 2+1 flavour Polyakov-quark-meson model and show that the temperature dependence of the order parameters and thermodynamics is closer to full QCD. We discuss the results for QCD thermodynamics and outline briefly the dependence of our results on the critical temperature and the parametrisation …
We investigate the scalar meson mass dependence on the chiral phase transition in the framework of an SU(3), (axial)vector meson extended linear sigma model with additional constituent quarks and Polyakov loops. We determine the parameters of the Lagrangian at zero temperature in a hybrid approach, where we treat the mesons at tree-level, while the constituent quarks at 1-loop level. We assume two nonzero scalar condensates and together with the Polyakov-loop variables we determine their temperature dependence according to the 1-loop level field equations.
At nonzero temperature in QCD, about the deconfining phase transition there is a "semi" quark gluon plasma (semi-QGP), where the expectation value of the (renormalized) Polyakov loop is less than one. This can be modeled by a semiclassical expansion about a constant field for the vector potential, A_0, which is diagonal in color. We compute the shear viscosity in the semi-QGP by using the Boltzmann equation in the presence of this background field. To leading, logarithmic order in weak coupling, the dominant diagrams are given by the usual scattering processes of 2 -> 2 particles. For simplici…
We consider QCD at temperatures T near Tc, where the theory deconfines. We distinguish between a "complete" Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP), where the vacuum expectation value of the renormalized Polyakov loop is near unity, essentially constant with T, and the "semi"-QGP, where the loop changes strongly with T. Lattice simulations indicate that in QCD, there is a semi-QGP from below Tc to a few times that. Using a semi-classical model, we compute the shear viscosity, eta, to leading order in perturbation theory. We find that near Tc, where the expectation value of the Polyakov loop is small, that et…
The sign structure of correlations of conserved charges are investigated in a QCD like model: the (2+1) flavor Polyakov Quark Meson model. We compute all susceptibilities of the conserved charges on the $(μ_{B}-T)$ plane up to fourth order and a few at higher order as well. By varying the mass of the sigma meson, we are able to study and compare scenarios with as well as without a critical point. In the hadron-quark transition regime we identify certain correlations that turn negative unlike expectation from ideal hadron resonance gas calculations. The striking feature being that these remain …
Chiral phase transition is investigated in an $SU(3)_L \times SU(3)_R$ symmetric vector meson extended linear sigma model with additional constituent quarks and Polyakov loops (extended Polyakov quark meson model). The parameterization of the Lagrangian is done at zero temperature in a hybrid approach, where the mesons are treated at tree-level, while the constituent quarks at 1-loop level. The temperature and baryochemical potential dependence of the two assumed scalar condensates are calculated from the hybrid 1-loop level equations of states. The order of the phase transition along the $T=0…
In this work we deal with the critical behavior of the bulk viscosity in the linear sigma model (LSM) as an example of a system which can be treated by using different techniques. Starting from the Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck equation we compute the bulk viscosity over entropy density of the LSM in the large-N limit. We search for a possible maximum of the bulk viscosity over entropy density at the critical temperature of the chiral phase transition. The information about this critical temperature, as well as the effective masses, is obtained from the effective potential. We find that the expe…
We study effective models of chiral fields and Polyakov loop expected to describe the dynamics responsible for the phase structure of two-flavor QCD. We consider chiral sector described either using linear sigma model or Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model and study how these models, on the mean-field level when coupled with the Polyakov loop, behave as a function of increasing bare quark (or pion) mass. We find qualitatively similar behaviors for the cases of linear sigma model and Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model and, relating to existing lattice data, show that one cannot conclusively decide which or the two …
We have gone through a comparative study on two different kind of bulk viscosity expressions by using a common dynamical model. The Polyakov-Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model in the realm of mean-field approximation, including up to eight quark interactions for 2+1 flavor quark matter, is treated for this common dynamics. We have probed the numerical equivalence as well as discrepancy of two different expressions for bulk viscosity at vanishing quark chemical potential. Our estimation of bulk viscosity to entropy density ratio follows a decreasing trend with temperature, which is observed in mos…
The mesonic excitations and s-wave pi--pi scattering lengths at finite temperature are studied in the two-flavor Polyakov--Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model. The masses of pi-meson and sigma-meson, pion-decay constant, the pion-quark coupling strength, and the scattering lengths $a_{0}$ and $a_{2}$ at finite temperature are calculated in the PNJL model with two forms of Polyakov-loop effective potential. The obtained results are almost independent of the choice of the effective potentials. The calculated results in the PNJL model are also compared with those in the conventional Nambu--Jona-Lasi…
The Polyakov loop is included in the SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R chiral quark-meson model by considering the propagation of the constituent quarks, coupled to the (sigma,pi) meson multiplet, on the homogeneous background of a temporal gauge field, diagonal in color space. The model is solved at finite temperature and quark baryon chemical potential both in the chiral limit and for the physical value of the pion mass by using an expansion in the number of flavors N_f. Keeping the fermion propagator at its tree-level, a resummation on the pion propagator is constructed which resums infinitely many orders …
The aim of this work is to shed light on some lesser known aspects of Polyakov-loop--extended chiral models (namely the Polyakov-loop extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio and Quark-Meson models), especially on the correlation of the quark sector with the Polyakov loop. We show that the ordering of chiral and Polyakov-loop transitions and their difference in temperature as seen in lattice QCD calculations could be realized with a critical scale of the Polyakov-loop potential that is larger than the one in pure gauge theory. The comparison of the results for the Polyakov-loop susceptibility obtained usi…
We study two effective models for QCD, the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio -model and the linear sigma model extended by including a Polyakov loop potential, which is fitted to reproduce pure gauge theory thermodynamics, and a coupling between the chiral fields and the Polyakov loop. Thus the resulting models have as relevant degrees of freedom the Polyakov loop and chiral fields. By comparing the extended models with the bare chiral models we can conclude that the addition of the Polyakov loop is necessary in order to obtain both qualitatively and quantitatively correct results at finite temperatures. The…
We use the Polyakov-loop extended two-flavor quark-meson model as a low-energy effective model for QCD to study the phase diagram in the $μ_I$--$T$ plane where $μ_I$ is the isospin chemical potential. In particular, we focus on the Bose condensation of charged pions. At $T=0$, the onset of pion condensation is at $μ_I={1\over2}m_π$ in accordance with exact results. The phase transition to a Bose-condensed phase is of second order for all values of $μ_I$ and in the $O(2)$ universality class. The chiral critical line joins the critical line for pion condensation at a point whose position depends…
The existence and the location of the critical end point (CEP) between the crossover and the first order part of the chiral phase transition in the phase diagram of the strongly interacting matter is a heavily studied area of recent particle physics. The baryon number fluctuations and related quantities such as kurtosis and other susceptibility ratios, that are assumed to be good signatures of CEP, are calculated in an (axial)vector meson extended $(2 + 1)$ flavor Polyakov linear sigma model (EL$σ$M) at zero and finite $μ_B$ . It is compared with the results of lattice as well as other effecti…
We investigate the chiral phase transition of the strongly interacting matter at nonzero temperature and baryon chemical potential $μ_B$ within an extended (2+1) flavor Polyakov constituent quark-meson model which incorporates the effect of the vector and axial vector mesons. The parameters of the model are determined by comparing masses and tree-level decay widths with experimental values. We examine the restoration of the chiral symmetry by monitoring the temperature evolution of condensates. We study the $T-ρ_B$ phase diagram of the model and find that a critical end point exists, although …
The Polyakov linear-sigma model (PLSM) and Hadron Resonance Gas (HRG) model are considered to study the hadronic and partonic equation(s) of state, the pressure, and response to finite magnetic field, the magnetization. The results are confronted to recent lattice QCD calculations. Both models are in fairly good agreement with the lattice.
We obtain the phase diagram of strong interactions in the presence of a magnetic field within the linear sigma model coupled to quarks and to the Polyakov loop, and show that the chiral and deconfinement lines can split. We also study the behavior of the chiral condensate in this magnetic environment and find an approximately linear dependence on the external field, in accordance with lattice data.
We investigate the critical curve of the string tension sigma(T) as a function of temperature in quenched gauge invariant SU(3) lattice gauge theory. We extract sigma(T) from the colour averaged free energy of a static quark-antiquark pair. To compute the free energy, we utilize a pair of gauge invariant Polyakov loop and antiloop correlations, and apply the multihit procedure to enhance the signal to noise ratio. We find that the string tension departs from the zero temperature sigma(0) at T close to 0.5 Tc. We cover the relevant temperature range from 0.5 Tc up to the confinement temperature…
We extend the hadronic SU(3) non-linear sigma model to include quark degrees of freedom. The choice of potential for the Polyakov loop as a function of temperature and chemical potential allows us to construct a realistic phase diagram from the analysis of the order parameters of the system. These parameters are the chiral condensate, for the chiral symmetry restoration and the Polyakov loop, for the deconfinement to quark matter. Besides reproducing lattice QCD results, for zero and low chemical potential, we are in agreement with neutron star observations for zero temperature.
We investigate the effects of (axial)vector mesons on the chiral phase transition in the framework of an SU(3), (axial)vector meson extended linear sigma model with additional constituent quarks and Polyakov loops.
We study the effect of shear and bulk viscosities on the heavy quark transport coefficient within the matrix model of semi QGP. Dissipative effects are incorporated through the first-order viscous correction in the quark/antiquark and gluon distribution function. It is observed that while the shear viscosity effects reduces the drag of heavy quark the bulk viscosity effects increase the drag and the diffusion coefficients of heavy quark. For finite values of η/s and ξ/s, Polyakov loop further decreases the drag and the diffusion coefficients as compared to perturbative QCD.
Within the framework of Dyson-Schwinger equations of QCD, we study the finite volume effects on the chiral phase transition, especially the influence on the position of the possible pseudo-critical end point (pCEP). The results show that in the chiral limit case (the current quark mass $m=0$), the absolute value of quark condensate decreases for smaller volumes, and more interestingly, so does the pseudo-critical temperature $T_c(μ=0)$, which is in agreement with the Polyakov Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model result and opposite to the Polyakov linear sigma model prediction. These conclusions hold for…
We investigate general frameworks for calculating transport coefficients for quasiparticle theories at finite temperature. Hadronic transport coefficients are then computed using the linear sigma model (LSM). The bulk viscosity over entropy density ($ζ/s$) is evaluated in the relaxation time approximation (RTA) and the specific shear viscosity ($η/s$) and static electrical conductivity ($σ_{el}/T$) are both obtained in the RTA and using a functional variational approach. Results are shown for different values of the scalar-isoscalar hadron vacuum mass with in-medium masses for the interacting …
We derive an effective thermodynamic potential (Omega_eff) at finite temperature (T>0) and zero quark-chemical potential (mu_R=0), using the singular-gauge instanton solution and Matsubara formula for N_c=3 and N_f=2 in the chiral limit. The momentum-dependent constituent-quark mass is also obtained as a function of T, employing the Harrington-Shepard caloron solution in the large-N_c limit. In addition, we take into account the imaginary quark chemical potential mu_I = A_4, translated as the traced Polayakov-loop (Phi) as an order parameter for the Z(N_c) symmsetry, characterizing the confine…
Temperature dependence of pion and sigma-meson screening masses is evaluated by the Polyakov-loop extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model with the entanglement vertex. We propose a practical way of calculating meson screening masses in the NJL-type effective models. The method based on the Pauli-Villars regularization solves the well-known difficulty that the evaluaton of screening masses is not easy in the NJL-type effective models. The PNJL model with the entanglement vertex and the Pauli-Villars regularization well reproduces lattice QCD results on temperature dependence of the chiral cond…
Effects of external magnetic field on various properties of the quantum chromodynamics under extreme conditions of temperature and density have been analysed. To this end, we use SU(3) Polyakov linear sigma-model and assume that the external magnetic field eB adds some restrictions to the quarks energy due to the existence of free charges in the plasma phase. In doing this, we apply the Landau theory of quantization. This requires an additional temperature to drive the system through the chiral phase-transition. Accordingly, the dependence of the critical temperature of chiral and confinement …
The phase structure of two-flavor QCD is explored for thermal systems with finite baryon- and isospin-chemical potentials, mu_B and mu_{iso}, by using the Polyakov-loop extended Nambu--Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model. The PNJL model with the scalar-type eight-quark interaction can reproduce lattice QCD data at not only mu_{iso}=mu_B=0 but also mu_{iso}>0 and mu_B=0. In the mu_{iso}-mu_{B}-T space, where T is temperature, the critical endpoint of the chiral phase transition in the mu_B-T plane at mu_{iso}=0 moves to the tricritical point of the pion-superfluidity phase transition in the mu_{iso}-T pl…
In nonzero magnetic field, the magnetic properties and thermodynamics of the quantum-chromodynamic (QCD) matter is studied in the hadron resonance gas and the Polyakov linear-sigma models and compared with recent lattice calculations. Both models are fairly suited to describe the degrees of freedom in the hadronic phase. The partonic ones are only accessible by the second model. It is found that the QCD matter has paramagnetic properties, which monotonically depend on the temperature and are not affected by the hadron-quark phase-transition. Furthermore, raising the magnetic field strength inc…
In this talk, we report our recent studies on an effective thermodynamic potential (Omega_eff) at finite temperature (T>0) and zero quark-chemical potential (mu_R=0), using the singular-gauge instanton solution and Matsubara formula for N_c=3 and N_f=2 in the chiral limit, i.e. m_q=0. The momentum-dependent constituent-quark mass is computed as a function of T, together with the Harrington-Shepard caloron solution in the large-N_c limit. In addition, we take into account the imaginary quark-chemical potential mu_I = A_4, indentified as the traced Polayakov-loop (Phi) as an order parameter for …
The SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R chiral quark model consisting of the (sigma,pi) meson multiplet and the constituent quarks propagating on the homogeneous background of a temporal gauge field is solved at finite temperature and quark baryon chemical potential mu_q using an expansion in the number of flavors N_f, both in the chiral limit and for the physical value of the pion mass. Keeping the fermion propagator at its tree-level, several approximations to the pion propagator are investigated. These approximations correspond to different partial resummations of the perturbative series. Comparing their sol…
In peripheral heavy-ion collisions, localized ,short-lived an extremely huge magnetic field can be generated. Its possible influences on the quark-hadron phase transition(s) and the transport properties of the hadronic and partonic matter shall be analysed from the Polyakov linear-sigma model. Our calculations are compared with recent lattice QCD calculations.
Some recent theoretical developments of the QCD phase diagram are summarized. Chiral symmetry restoration and the confinement/deconfinement transition at nonzero temperature and quark densities are analyzed in the framework of an effective linear sigma model with three light quark flavors. The sensitivity of the chiral transition as well as the existence of a critical end point in the phase diagram on the value of the sigma mass is explored. The influence of the axial anomaly on the chiral critical surface is addressed. Finally, the modifications by the inclusion of the Polyakov loop on the ph…
