Motivated by UV completion of general relativity with a modification of a geometry at high energy scale, it is expected to have an energy dependent geometry. In this paper, we introduce charged black hole solutions with power Maxwell invariant source in the context of gravity's rainbow. In addition, we investigate two classes of $F(R)$ gravity's rainbow solutions. At first, we study energy dependent $F(R)$ gravity without energy momentum tensor, and then we obtain $F(R)$ gravity's rainbow in the presence of conformally invariant Maxwell source. We study geometrical properties of the mentioned solutions and compare their results. We also give some related comments regarding to thermodynamical behavior of the obtained solutions and discuss thermal stability of the solutions.
In this paper, we study the effects of a modified theory of gravity - the rainbow gravity - on the relativistic Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC). We initially discuss some formal aspects of the model in order to compute the corrections to the relevant quantities of the condensate. Following, we evaluate the generating functional from which obtain some thermodynamic parameters. Then we calculate the corrected critical temperature $T_c$ that sets the relativistic Bose-Einstein condensate considering the three principal rainbow functions, finding, in addition, a phenomenological upper bound for the…
In the present paper we investigate the effects caused by the modification of the dispersion relation obtained by solving the Klein-Gordon equation in the closed Einstein's universe in the context of rainbow's gravity models. Thus, we analyse how the quantum vacuum fluctuations of the scalar field are modified when compared with the results obtained in the usual General Relativity scenario. The regularization, and consequently the renormalization, of the vacuum energy is performed adopting the Epstein-Hurwitz and Riemann's zeta functions.
In this paper, we will study the rainbow deformation of the FRW cosmology in both Einstein gravity and Gauss-Bonnet gravity. We will demonstrate that the singularity in the FRW cosmology can be removed because of the rainbow deformation of the FRW metric. We will obtain the general constraints required for the FRW cosmology to be free from singularities. It will be observed that the inclusion of Gauss-Bonnet gravity can significantly change the constraints required to obtain a nonsingular universes. We will use a rainbow functions motivated from the hard spectra of gamma-ray bursts to deform t…
By presenting a relation between average energy of the ensemble of probe photons and energy density of the Universe, in the context of {\it gravity's rainbow} or {\it doubly general relativity} scenario, we introduce a rainbow FRW Universe model. By analyzing the fixed points in flat FRW model modified by two well known rainbow functions, we find that the finite time singularity avoidance (i.e. Big-Bang) may still remain as a problem. Then, we follow the "Emergent Universe" scenario in which there is no beginning of time and consequently there is no Big-Bang singularity. Moreover, we study the…
In the literature, there are several papers establishing a correspondence between a deformed kinematics and a nontrivial (momentum dependent) metric. In this work, we study in detail the relationship between the trajectories given by a deformed Hamiltonian and the geodesic motion obtained from a geometry in the cotangent bundle, finding that both trajectories coincide when the Hamiltonian is identified with the squared distance in momentum space. Moreover, following the natural structure of the cotangent bundle geometry, we construct the space-time curvature tensor, from which we obtain genera…
According to Verlinde's recent proposal, the gravity is originally an entropic force. In this work, we obtain the corrections to the entropy-area law of black holes within rainbow gravity. The corrected entropy-area law leads to the modifications of the number of bits $N$. Inspired by Verlinde's argument on the entropic force, and using the modified number of bits, we can investigate the effects of rainbow gravity on the modified Newtonian dynamics, Newton's law of gravitation, and Einstein's general relativity in entropic force approach.
One of the fundamental open questions in cosmology is whether we can regard the universe evolution without singularity like a Big Bang or a Big Rip. This challenging subject stimulates one to regard a nonsingular universe in the far past with an arbitrarily large vacuum energy. Considering the high energy regime in the cosmic history, it is believed that Einstein gravity should be corrected to an effective energy dependent theory which could be acquired by gravity's rainbow. On the other hand, employing massive gravity provided us with solutions to some of the long standing fundamental problem…
Occurrence of spacetime singularities is one of the peculiar features of Einstein gravity, signalling limitation on probing short distances in spacetime. This alludes to the existence of a fundamental length scale in nature. On contrary, Heisenberg quantum uncertainty relation seems to allow for probing arbitrarily small length scales. To reconcile these two conflicting ideas in line with a well known framework of quantum gravity, several modifications of Heisenberg algebra have been proposed. However, it has been extensively argued that such a minimum length would introduce nonlocality in the…
Conformal transformation as a mathematical tool has been used in many areas of gravitational physics. In this paper, we would consider the gravity's rainbow, in which the metric could be treated as a conformal rescaling of the original metric. By using the conformal transformation technique, we get a specific form of modified Newton's constant and cosmological constant in gravity's rainbow, which implies that the total vacuum energy is dependent on probe energy. Moreover, the result shows that the Einstein gravity's rainbow could be described by an energy-dependent $f(E,\tilde R)$ gravity. At …
We re-examine a recently proposed scenario where the deformed dispersion relations associated with a flow of the spectral dimension to a UV value of 2 leads to a scale-invariant spectrum of cosmological fluctuations, without the need for inflation. In that scenario Einstein gravity was assumed. The theory displays a wavelength-dependent speed of light but by transforming to a suitable "rainbow frame" this feature can be removed, at the expense of modifying gravity. We find that the ensuing rainbow gravity theory is such that gravity switches off at high energy (or at least leads to a universal…
Motivated by the violation of Lorentz invariancy in quantum gravity, we study black hole solutions in gravity's rainbow in context of Einstein gravity coupled with various models of nonlinear electrodynamics. We regard an energy dependent spacetime and obtain related metric functions and electric fields. We show that there is an essential singularity at the origin which is covered with an event horizon. We also compute the conserved and thermodynamical quantities and examine the validity of the first law of thermodynamics in the presence of rainbow functions. Finally, we investigate thermal st…
It is possible to dualize theories based on deformed dispersion relations and Einstein gravity so as to map them into theories with trivial dispersion relations and rainbow gravity. This often leads to "dual inflation" without the usual breaking of the strong energy condition. We identify the dispersion relations in the original frame which map into "intermediate" inflationary models. These turn out to be particularly simple: power-laws modulated by powers of a logarithm. The fluctuations predicted by these scenarios are near, but not exactly scale-invariant, with a red running spectral index.…
In this work, we study the $f(R)$ models of inflation in the context of gravity's rainbow theory. We choose three types of $f(R)$ models: $f(R)=R+α(R/M)^{n},\,f(R)=R+αR^{2}+βR^{2}\log(R/M^{2})$ and the Einstein-Hu-Sawicki model with $n,\,α,\,β$ being arbitrary real constants. Here $R$ and $M$ are the Ricci scalar and mass scale, respectively. For all models, the rainbow function is written in the power-law form of the Hubble parameter. We present a detailed derivation of the spectral index of curvature perturbation and the tensor-to-scalar ratio and compare the predictions of our results with …
Quantum evolution of a scalar field's modes propagating on quantum spacetime of a collapsing homogeneous dust ball is written effectively, as an evolution of the same quantum modes on a (semiclassical) dressed geometry. When the backreaction of the field is discarded, the classical spacetime singularity is resolved due to quantum gravity effects and is replaced by a quantum bounce on the dressed collapse background. In the presence of backreaction, the emergent (interior) dressed geometry becomes mode dependent and the energy density associated with the backreaction of each mode scales as a ra…
The recent direct detection of a neutron star merger with optical counterpart has been used to severely constrain models of dark energy that typically predict a modification of the speed of gravitational waves. We point out that the energy scales observed at LIGO, and the particular frequency of the neutron star event, lie very close to the strong coupling scale or cutoff associated with many dark energy models. While it is true that at very low energies one expects gravitational waves to travel at a speed different than light in these models, the same is no longer necessarily true as one reac…
Entanglement entropy in a field theory, with a holographic dual, may be viewed as a quantity which encodes the diffeomorphism invariant bulk gravity dynamics. This, in particular, indicates that the bulk Einstein equations would imply some constraints for the boundary entanglement entropy. In this paper we focus on the change in entanglement entropy, for small but arbitrary fluctuations about a given state, and analyze the constraints imposed on it by the perturbative Einstein equations, linearized about the corresponding bulk state. Specifically, we consider linear fluctuations about BTZ blac…
Depending on five parameters, rotating counterparts of Einstein--Maxwell--dilaton black holes are derived. We discuss their physical and geometric properties and investigate their null and time-like geodesics including circular orbits. The Lense--Thirring effect is considered.
The Einstein Equivalence Principle~(EEP) can be verified by the measurement of the spectral distortions of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). The existence of energy-dependency in the cosmological redshift effect means the EEP violation. Introducing the energy-dependent Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric motivated by rainbow gravity, we show that the energy-dependent redshift effect causes the CMB spectral distortions. Assuming the simple energy-dependent form of the metric, we evaluate the distortions. From the COBE/FIRAS bound, we find that the deviation degree from the EEP, which is comp…
We obtain new solutions of Einsteinian cubic gravity coupled to a Maxwell field that describe the near-horizon geometry of charged and rotating black holes. We show that the AdS$_2\times\mathbb{S}^2$ near-horizon geometry of Reissner-Nordström black holes receives no corrections, but deviations with respect to the extremal Kerr-Newman solution appear as we turn on the angular momentum. We construct the profile of these corrected geometries using both numerical methods and slowly-spinning expansions, but we also find additional solutions that do not reduce to AdS$_2\times\mathbb{S}^2$ geometrie…
Employing higher curvature corrections to Einstein--Maxwell gravity has garnered a great deal of attention motivated by the high energy regime in quantum nature of black hole physics. In addition, one may employ gravity's rainbow to encode quantum gravity effects into the black hole solutions. In this paper, we regard an energy dependent static spacetime with various topologies and study its black hole solutions in the context of Gauss--Bonnet Born--Infeld (GB--BI) gravity. We study thermodynamic properties and examine the first law of thermodynamics. Using suitable local transformation, we en…
Recently, several methods have been proposed to regularize a $D \to 4$ limit of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB), leading to nontrivial gravitational dynamics in $4D$. We present an exact nonsingular black hole solution in the $4D$ EGB gravity coupled to non-linear electrodynamics and analyze their thermodynamic properties to calculate precise expressions for the black hole mass, temperature, and entropy. Because of the magnetic charge, the thermodynamic quantities are corrected, and the Hawking--Page phase transition is achievable with diverges of the heat capacity at a larger critical radius $r=r…
In this work, we generalise the spontaneous scalarization phenomena in Einstein-Maxwell-Scalar models to a higher spin field. The result is an Einstein-Maxwell-Vector model wherein a vector field is non-minimally coupled to the Maxwell invariant by an exponential coupling function. We show that the latter guarantees the circumvention of an associated no-hair theorem when the vector field has the form of an electric field. Different than its scalar counterpart, the new spontaneously vectorized Reissner-Nordström (RN) black holes are, always, undercharged while being entropically preferable. The…
We consider the possibility of multiply-connected spacetimes, ranging from the Flamm-Einstein-Rosen bridge, geons, and the modern renaissance of traversable wormholes. A fundamental property in wormhole physics is the flaring-out condition of the throat, which through the Einstein field equation entails the violation of the null energy condition. In the context of modified theories of gravity, it has also been shown that the normal matter can be imposed to satisfy the energy conditions, and it is the higher order curvature terms, interpreted as a gravitational fluid, that sustain these non-sta…
The energy extraction from a Einstein-Born-Infeld (EBI) black hole is addressed determining the extension of the ergosphere as well as the extractable energy using the irreducible mass concept. These results are compared with the Reissner-Nordstrom (RN) ones; RN is the linear electromagnetic counterpart of the BI black hole. It turns out that for a fixed charge Q, more energy can be extracted from the RN black hole than from the EBI one. The extreme case is investigated as well, presenting remarkable features, for instance that more energy can be extracted from extreme EBI black holes than fro…
In the present work, we extend and generalize our previous work regarding the scale dependence applied to black holes in the presence of non-linear electrodynamics [1]. The starting point for this study is the Einstein-power-Maxwell theory with a vanishing cosmological constant in (3+1) dimensions, assuming a scale dependence of both the gravitational and the electromagnetic coupling. We further examine the corresponding thermodynamic properties and how these quantities experience deviations from their classical counterparts. We solve the effective Einstein's field equations using the "null en…
We propose to formulate a theory for Classical Stochastic Gravity for certain applications in Astrophysics and Cosmology. This involves the Langevin approach in curved spacetime, which is introduced here, in the form of a classical Einstein-Langevin equation. The domain of applications of such an approach and possible outcomes of this formulation which are quite different than its semiclassical counterpart (which is an active area of research), are discussed. This field of study can be seen to emerge out of well established ideas and results in Brownian motion theory as well as the Stochastic Sem…
We study the finite time singularity correspondence between the Jordan and Einstein frames for various $F(R)$ gravity theories. Particularly we investigate the ordinary pure $F(R)$ gravity case and the unimodular $F(R)$ gravity cases, in the absence of any matter fluids. In the ordinary $F(R)$ gravity cases, by using specific illustrative examples, we show that it is possible to have various correspondences of finite time singularities, and in some cases it is possible a singular cosmology in one frame might be non-singular in the other frame. In the unimodular $F(R)$ gravity case, the unimodu…
The post-Newtonian dynamics of black hole binaries in Einstein-scalar-Gauss-Bonnet theories of gravity depends on the so-called "sensitivities", quantities which characterize a black hole's adiabatic response to the time-dependent scalar field environment sourced by its companion. In this work, we calculate numerically the sensitivities of nonrotating black holes, including spontaneously scalarized ones, in three classes of Einstein-scalar-Gauss-Bonnet gravity: the shift-symmetric, dilatonic and Gaussian theories. When possible, we compare our results against perturbative analytical results, f…
Using a continued fraction ansatz we obtain an analytic approximation for a spherically symmetric black hole solution to Einsteinian Quartic Gravity (EQG), the next simplest Generalized Quasi-Topological Gravity (GQTG) after Einsteinian Cubic Gravity (ECG). This approximate solution is valid everywhere outside of the horizon and we use it to investigate the orbit of massive test bodies near a black hole, specifically computing the innermost stable circular orbit. Using Shapiro time delay we calculate the constraints on the EQG coupling parameter. Finally we compute the shadow of an EQG black h…
We analyze the isothermal property in static fluid spheres within the framework of the modified $f(R, T)$ theory of gravitation. The equation of pressure isotropy of the standard Einstein theory is preserved however, the energy density and pressure are expressed in terms of both gravitational potentials. Invoking the isothermal prescription requires that the isotropy condition assumes the role of a consistency condition and an exact model generalizing that of general relativity is found. Moreover it is found that the Einstein model is unstable and acausal while the $f(R, T)$ counterpart is wel…
Allowing for scale dependence of the gravitational couplings leads to a generalization of the corresponding field equations. In this work, those equations are solved for the Einstein-Hilbert and the Einstein-Maxwell case, leading to generalizations of the (Anti)-de Sitter and the Reissner-Nordström black holes. Those solutions are discussed and compared to their classical counterparts.
We construct a charged rotating black hole in 4D Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity starting from charged black hole in 4D EGB gravity using complex coordinate transformations suggested by Newman-Janis. Further, we have studied the null geodesics to investigate the shape of the shadow cast by a rotating charged black hole in 4D EGB gravity. Also we have discussed their horizon properties and shadow cast. The phenomenon of black hole shadows alongwith the horizon structure and energy emission has been analysed to see the influence of Gauss-Bonnet term and black hole charge on horizon, shadow, …
We study the phenomenology of the Higgs-Dilaton model in the context of Einstein-Cartan gravity, focusing on the separate impact of the Holst and Nieh-Yan terms on the inflationary observables. Using analytical and numerical techniques, we show the predictions of these scenarios to display an attractor-like behaviour intrinsically related to the curvature of the field-space manifold in the metric formulation of the theory. Beyond that, the analysis of the Nieh-Yan case reveals the existence of an additional attractor solution induced by a cubic pole in the inflaton kinetic term that becomes re…
We construct an exact anisotropic star model with a linear barotropic equation of state and with Finch-Skea potential within the framework of pure Lovelock gravity. A comparison with the corresponding Einstein model in a suitable limit is easily deduced. Evidently higher curvature effects induced by the Lovelock contributions generate lower densities, pressures, surface tensions and anisotropy factors when compared to its Einstein counterpart. The maximum moment of inertia is attained for the Einstein case and hence it may be inferred that Lovelock effects soften the equation of state. The mod…
Recently, a non-trivial $4D$ Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) theory of gravity, by rescaling the GB coupling parameter as $α/(D-4)$, was formulated in \cite{Glavan:2019inb}, which bypasses Lovelock's theorem and avoids Ostrogradsky instability. The theory admits a static spherically symmetric black hole, unlike $5D$ EGB or general relativity counterpart, which can have both Cauchy and event horizons. We generalize previous work, on gravitational lensing by a Schwarzschild black hole, in the strong and weak deflection limits to the $4D$ EGB black holes to calculate the deflection coefficients $\bar…
We present a new regularisation of Euclidean Einstein gravity in terms of (sequences of) graphs. In particular, we define a discrete Einstein-Hilbert action that converges to its manifold counterpart on sufficiently dense random geometric graphs (more generally on any sequence of graphs that converges to the manifold in the sense of Gromov-Hausdorff). Our construction relies crucially on the Ollivier curvature of optimal transport theory. Our methods also allow us to define an analogous discrete action for Klein-Gordon fields. These results may be taken as the basis for a combinatorial approac…
Neutron star binary mergers are strong sources of gravitational waves (GWs). Promising electromagnetic counterparts are short gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) but the emission is highly collimated. We propose that the scattering of the long-lasting plateau emission in short GRBs by the merger ejecta produces nearly isotropic emission for $\sim 10^4$ s with flux $10^{-13}-10^{-10}$ erg cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$ at 100 Mpc in X-ray. This is detectable by Swift XRT and wide field X-ray detectors such as ISS-Lobster, Einstein Probe, eROSITA and WF-MAXI, which are desired by the infrared and optical follow-ups to …
Taking into account the Euler-Heisenberg effective Lagrangian of one-loop nonperturbative quantum electrodynamics (QED) contributions, we formulate the Einstein-Euler-Heisenberg theory and study the solutions of nonrotating black holes with electric and magnetic charges in spherical geometry. In the limit of strong and weak electromagnetic fields of black holes, we calculate the black hole horizon radius, area, and total energy up to the leading order of QED corrections and discuss the black hole irreducible mass, entropy, and maximally extractable energy as well as the Christodoulou-Ruffini m…
We investigate the properties of high density compact objects in a vector type theory, inspired by Einstein's 1919 theory of elementary particles, in which Einstein assumed that elementary particles are held together by gravitational as well as electromagnetic type forces. From a modern perspective, Einstein's theory can be interpreted as a vector type model, with the gravitational action constructed as a linear combination of the Ricci scalar, of the trace of the matter energy-momentum tensor, and of a massive self-interacting vector type field. To obtain the properties of stellar models we c…
Classical equivalence between Jordan's and Einstein's frame counterparts of F(R) theory of gravity has recently been questioned, since the two produce different Noether symmetries, which couldn't be translated back and forth using transformation relations. Here we add the Hamiltonian constraint equation, which is essentially the time-time component of Einstein's equation, through a Lagrange multiplier to the existence condition for Noether symmetry to show that all the three different canonical structures of F(R) theory of gravity, including the one which follows from Lagrange multiplier techn…
