The construction, in [AJN], of a pseudodifferential calculus analogous to the Weyl calculus, in an infinite dimensional setting, required the introduction of convenient classes of symbols.
In this article, we proceed with the study of these classes in order to establish, later on, the properties that a pseudodifferential calculus is expected to satisfy. The introduction and the study of a new class are rendered necessary in view of applications in QED.
We prove here that the symbols of both classes and the terms of their Taylorexpansions admit stochastic extensions. We define, in this infinite dimensional setting, a semigroup $H_t$ analogous to the heat semigroup, acting on the symbols belonging to both classes of symbols. The heat operator commutes with a second order operator similar to the Laplacian, which is its infinitesimal generator. For the class defined there, we give an expansion in powers of $t$ of $H_tf$,according to the classes of symbols.
This paper deals with positivity properties for a pseudodifferential calculus, generalizing Weyl's classical quantization, and set on an infinite dimensional phase space, the Wiener space. In this frame, we show that a positive symbol does not, in general, give a positive operator. In order to measure the nonpositivity, we establish a Gårding's inequality, which holds for the symbol classes at hand. Nevertheless, for symbols with radial aspects, additional assumptions ensure the positivity of the associated operator.
The aim of this article is to prove a Beals type characterization theorem for pseudodifferential operators in Wiener spaces. The definition of pseudodifferential operators in Wiener spaces and a Calderón-Vaillancourt type result appear in [1]. The set of symbols considered here is the one of [1]. The Weyl calculus in infinite dimension considered here emphasizes the role of the Wick bi-symbols.
Estimates are obtained for the expected volume of intersection of independent Wiener sausages in Euclidean space in the small time limit. The asymptotic behaviour of the weighted diagonal heat kernel norm on compact Riemannian manifolds with smooth boundary is obtained in the small time limit
We aim at extending the definition of the Weyl calculus to an infinite dimensional setting, by replacing the phase space $ \mathbb{R}^{2n}$ by $B^2$, where $(i,H,B)$ is an abstract Wiener space. A first approach is to generalize the integral definition using the Wigner function. The symbol is then a function defined on $B^2$ and belonging to a $L^1$ space for a gaussian measure, the Weyl operator is defined as a quadratic form on a dense subspace of $L^2(B)$. For example, the symbol can be the stochastic extension on $B^2$, in the sense of L. Gross, of a function $F$ which is continuous and bo…
We give a complete characterization of the continuity of pseudodifferential operators with symbols in modulation spaces $M^{p,q}$, acting on a given Lebesgue space $L^r$. Namely, we find the full range of triples $(p,q,r)$, for which such a boundedness occurs. More generally, we completely characterize the same problem for operators acting on Wiener amalgam space $W(L^r,L^s)$ and even on modulation spaces $M^{r,s}$. Finally the action of pseudodifferential operators with symbols in $W(\Fur L^1,L^\infty)$ is also investigated.
We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for a boundary point to be regular for the Dirichlet problem related to a class of Kolmogorov-type equations. Our criterion is inspired by two classical criteria for the heat equation: the Evans-Gariepy's Wiener test, and a criterion by Landis expressed in terms of a series of caloric potentials.
We show how to apply harmonic spaces potential theory in the study of the Dirichlet problem for a general class of evolution hypoelliptic partial differential equations of second order. We construct Perron-Wiener solution and we provide a sufficient condition for the regularity of the boundary points. Our criterion extends and generalizes the classical parabolic-cone criterion for the Heat equation due to Effros and Kazdan.
We obtain heat kernel estimates for a class of fourth order non-uniformly elliptic operators in two dimensions. Contrary to existing results, the operators considered have symbols that are not strongly convex. This rises certain difficulties as it is known that, as opposed to the strongly convex case, there is no absolute exponential constant. Our estimates involve sharp constants and Finsler-type distances that are induced by the operator symbol. The main result is based on two general hypotheses, a weighted Sobolev inequalitry and an interpolation inequality, which are related to the singula…
A parameter dependent perturbation of the spectrum of the scalar Laplacian is studied for a class of nonlocal and non-self-adjoint rank one perturbations. A detailed description of the perturbed spectrum is obtained both for Dirichlet boundary conditions on a bounded interval as well as for the problem on the full real line. The perturbation results are applied to the study of a related parameter dependent nonlinear and nonlocal parabolic equation. The equation models a feedback system that e.g. can be interpreted as a thermostat device or in the context of an agent based price formation model…
Markov processes are well understood in the case when they take place in the whole Euclidean space. However, the situation becomes much more complicated if a Markov process is restricted to a domain with a boundary, and then a satisfactory theory only exists for processes with continuous trajectories. This research, into non-classical boundary value problems, is motivated by the study of stochastic processes, restricted to a domain, that can have discontinuous trajectories. To make this general problem more tractable, we consider a particular operator, $\mathcal{A}$, which is chosen to be the …
We consider certain constant-coefficient differential operators on $\mathbb{R}^d$ with positive-definite symbols. Each such operator $Λ$ with symbol $P$ defines a semigroup $e^{-tΛ}$ , $t>0$ , admitting a convolution kernel $H^t_P$ for which the large-time behavior of $H_P^t(0)$ cannot be deduced by basic scaling arguments. The simplest example has symbol $P(ξ)=(η+ζ^2)^2+η^4$ , $ξ=(η,ζ)\in \mathbb{R}^2$ . We devise a method to establish large-time asymptotics of $H^t_P(0)$ for several classes of examples of this type and we show that these asymptotics are preserved by perturbations by certain …
In this work, we consider fixed $1/2$ spin particles interacting with the quantized radiation field in the context of quantum electrodynamics (QED). We investigate the time evolution operator in studying the reduced propagator (interaction picture). We first prove that this propagator belongs to the class of infinite dimensional Weyl pseudodifferential operators recently introduced in \cite {A-J-N} on Wiener spaces. We give a semiclassical expansion of the symbol of the reduced propagator up to any order with estimates on the remainder terms. Next, taking into account analyticity properties fo…
Under some mild assumptions on the Levy measure and the symbol we obtain gradient estimates of Dirichlet heat kernels for pure-jump isotropic unimodal Levy processes in $R^d$.
In this note we consider the nonlinear heat equation associated to the fractional Hermite operator $H^β=(-Δ+|x|^2)^β$, $0<β\leq 1$. We show the local solvability of the related Cauchy problem in the framework of modulation spaces. The result is obtained by combining tools from microlocal and time-frequency analysis. As a byproduct, we compute the Gabor matrix of pseudodifferential operators with symbols in the Hörmander class $S^m_{0,0}$, $m\in\mathcal{R}$.
In this paper, we prove the existence of martingale solutions to the stochastic heat equation taking values in a Riemannian manifold, which admits Wiener (Brownian bridge) measure on the Riemannian path (loop) space as an invariant measure using a suitable Dirichlet form. Using the Andersson-Driver approximation, we heuristically derive a form of the equation solved by the process given by the Dirichlet form. Moreover, we establish the log-Sobolev inequality for the Dirichlet form in the path space. In addition, some characterizations for the lower bounds of the Ricci curvature are presented r…
We consider a class of fourth order uniformly elliptic operators in planar Euclidean domains and study the associated heat kernel. For operators with $L^{\infty}$ coefficients we obtain Gaussian estimates with best constants, while for operators with constant coefficients we obtain short time asymptotic estimates. The novelty of this work is that we do not assume that the associated symbol is strongly convex. The short time asymptotics reveal a behavior which is qualitatively different from that of the strongly convex case.
It is known that Fourier integral operators arising when solving Schrödinger-type operators are bounded on the modulation spaces $\cM^{p,q}$, for $1\leq p=q\leq\infty$, provided their symbols belong to the Sjöstrand class $M^{\infty,1}$. However, they generally fail to be bounded on $\cM^{p,q}$ for $p\not=q$. In this paper we study several additional conditions, to be imposed on the phase or on the symbol, which guarantee the boundedness on $\cM^{p,q}$ for $p\not=q$, and between $\cM^{p,q}\to\cM^{q,p}$, $1\leq q< p\leq\infty$. We also study similar problems for operators acting on Wiener amalg…
We prove a maximum principle for mild solutions to stochastic evolution equations with (locally) Lipschitz coefficients and Wiener noise on weighted $L^2$ spaces. As an application, we provide sufficient conditions for the positivity of forward rates in the Heath-Jarrow-Morton model, considering the associated Musiela SPDE on a homogeneous weighted Sobolev space.
We study non-elliptic quadratic differential operators. Quadratic differential operators are non-selfadjoint operators defined in the Weyl quantization by complex-valued quadratic symbols. When the real part of their Weyl symbols is a non-positive quadratic form, we point out the existence of a particular linear subspace in the phase space, intrinsically associated to the Weyl symbols, called a singular space, such that when the singular space has a symplectic structure, the associated heat semigroup is smoothing in every direction of its symplectic orthogonal complement. When the Weyl symbol …
We study logarithmic Sobolev inequalities with respect to a heat kernel measure on finite-dimensional and infinite-dimensional Heisenberg groups. Such a group is the simplest non-trivial example of a sub-Riemannian manifold. First we consider logarithmic Sobolev inequalities on non-isotropic Heisenberg groups. These inequalities are considered with respect to the hypoelliptic heat kernel measure, and we show that the logarithmic Sobolev constants can be chosen to be independent of the dimension of the underlying space. In this setting, a natural Laplacian is not an elliptic but a hypoelliptic …
