Using momentum sum rule for evolution equations for Double Parton Distribution Functions (DPDFs) in the leading logarithmic approximation, we find that the double gluon distribution function can be uniquely constrained via the single gluon distribution function. We also study numerically its evolution with a hard scale and show that an approximately factorized ansatz into the product of two single gluon distributions performs quite well at small values of $x$ but is always violated for larger values, as expected.
We present detailed numerical analysis of the unintegrated double gluon distribution which includes the dependence on the transverse momenta of partons. The unintegrated double gluon distribution was obtained following the Kimber-Martin-Ryskin method as a convolution of the perturbative gluon splitting function with the collinear integrated double gluon distribution and the Sudakov form factors. We analyze the dependence on the transverse momenta, longitudinal momentum fractions and hard scales. We find that the unintegrated gluon distribution factorizes into a product of two single unintegrat…
The prediction of single spin asymmetry (SSA) in double $\rm J/ψ$ production in proton-proton collision is given out within the framework of non-relativistic QCD, using the recently obtained best fit parameters for the gluon Sivers function extracted from PHENIX data in $\rm p+p^\uparrow\toπ^0+X$. The color singlet state $\rm ^3 S_1^{(1)}$ and color octet state $\rm ^3 S_1^{(8)}$ are considered to the SSA contribution in the double $\rm J/ψ$ hadroproduction. Our result shows that a sizable asymmetry can be estimated as functions of different kinematic variables.
We consider the process of double $J/ψ$ production in $pp$ collisions at the LHC in the framework of $k_T$-factorization approach. We focus on the gluon fragmentation mechanism which is related to multiple gluon emission in the initial state. The initial state emission is treated according to Catani-Ciafaloni-Fiorani-Marchesini evolution equation, and applies to both single and double parton scattering cases. We show the importance of fragmentation contributions to $J/ψ$ pair production and perform a comparison between theoretical predictions and the latest ATLAS data collected at $\sqrt{s} = …
We compute double and triple inclusive gluon production in p-A scattering beyond the so-called "glasma graph" approximation. We consider quantum interference effects and identify in this general setup the terms responsible for the gluon HBT and initial wave function Bose enhancement which lead to correlations in particle production. Both of these terms originate from the factorizable part of the quadrupole and sextupole terms in the production cross section. We also show that the target Bose enhancement in this regime is suppressed at large number of colors.
In this talk we discuss recent computations of the top quark mass dependence of QCD amplitudes describing Higgs boson production in gluon fusion. We compute terms in the expansion for a large top quark mass, which reduces the Feynman diagrams to products of massless integrals and massive tadpole integrals which contain the top mass dependence. In particular we discuss the real and virtual corrections to double Higgs production at NNLO, and the virtual corrections to single Higgs production at N3LO.
Being the "mother distributions" of all types of two-parton correlation functions, generalized transverse momentum dependent parton distributions (GTMDs) have attracted a lot of attention over the last years. We argue that exclusive double production of pseudoscalar quarkonia ($η_c$ or $η_b$) in nucleon-nucleon collisions gives access to GTMDs of gluons.
We consider double $gg\rightarrow g$ production in the presence of a bias on the unintegrated gluon distribution of the colliding hadron or nuclei. Such bias could be due to the selection of configurations with a greater number of gluons or higher mean transverse momentum squared or, more generally, due to a modified spectral shape of the gluon distribution in the hadrons. Hence, we consider reweighted functional averages over the stochastic ensemble of small-x gluons. We evaluate explicitly the double inclusive gluon transverse momentum spectrum in high-energy collisions, and their azimuthal …
We show that the diffractive forward production of two quarkonia, especially the $χ_{cJ}$ and $η_c$ states, in proton-proton or proton-ion collisions can access the Weizsäcker-Williams gluon Wigner distribution of the proton. We use the hybrid factorization approach where the collinear, double gluon PDF is applied for one of the protons and the $k_T$-dependent (Wigner or GTMD) distribution for the other. The production of quarkonia is treated in the NRQCD framework. A particularly concise formula is obtained for double $χ_{J=1}$ production.
In this paper, the soft gluon resummation effect in double heavy quarkonium production at the LHC is studied. By applying the transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism, the large logarithms introduced by the small total transverse momentum of heavy quarkonium pair final state system, are resummed to all orders in the expansion of the strong interaction coupling at the Next-to-Leading Logarithm accuracy. We also compare our result with the LHC data. We find that the distribution shape predicted by resummation calculation is consistent with experimental data very well. Since this pro…
We study the double-gluon hybrid states with the quark-gluon contents $\bar q q gg$ ($q=u/d$) and $\bar s s gg$. We construct twelve double-gluon hybrid currents with various quantum numbers, five of which are found to be zero due to some internal symmetries between the two gluon fields. We use the rest seven currents to perform QCD sum rule analyses. Especially, the masses of the double-gluon hybrid states with the exotic quantum number $J^{PC} = 2^{+-}$ are calculated to be $M_{|\bar q q gg;2^{+-}\rangle} = 2.26^{+0.20}_{-0.25}$ GeV and $M_{|\bar s s gg;2^{+-}\rangle} = 2.38^{+0.19}_{-0.25}$…
We propose a new framework, merging High Energy Factorization with final-state jet quenching effects due to interactions in a quark-gluon plasma, to compute di-jet rates at mid- and forward rapidity. It allows to consistently study the interplay of initial-state effects with medium interactions, opening the possibility for understanding the dynamics of hard probes in heavy-ion collisions and the QGP evolution in rapidity.
LHC $t\bar{t}$ data have the potential to provide constraints on the gluon distribution, especially at high $x$, with both ATLAS and CMS performing differential measurements. Recently, CMS has measured double-differential $t\bar{t}$ distributions at 8 TeV. In this paper we examine the impact of this data set on the gluon distribution. To that end we develop novel, double-differential NNLO predictions for that data. No significant impact is found when the CMS data is added to the CT14HERA2 global PDF fit, due to the larger impact of the inclusive jet data from both the Tevatron and the LHC. If …
We consider the associated production of $J/ψ$ mesons and muons originating from the $b$-flavored hadron decays and non-prompt double $J/ψ$ production at the LHC using the $k_T$-factorization approach. To describe the inclusive $b$-hadron decays into the different charmonium states we apply fragmentation approach and adopt fragmentation functions based on the non-relativistic QCD factorization. The transverse momentum dependent (TMD) gluon densities in a proton are determined using the Catani-Ciafaloni-Fiorani-Marchesini equation and Kimber-Martin-Ryskin prescription. We investigate the effect…
