We propose to interpret the possible resonance seen in di-photons at the LHC at 750 Gev as a bound state of a new pair of heavy gluons associated with an enhanced color gauge invariance. These have a conservation law which enforces their production and decay in pairs and hence requires that the leading coupling to quarks is quadratically through a dimension 5 operator. One way to realize these hypotheses is if the SU(3) color gauge invariance is enhanced to SL(3, C), while at the same time promoting the internal metric, which picks out what is a unitary transformation, to a dynamical degree of freedom. This theory was first proposed by Cahill[3], Dell[4], Kim and Zee[5], and Julia and Luciani[6]. The dynamical internal metric spontaneously breaks SL(3,C) to SU(3) giving a mass to the vector bosons associated with the generators in SL(3,C)/SU(3). The coupling to the internal metric also ensures that the energy is bounded from below. The new state is produced by gluon fusion and decays to a pair of photons via a direct coupling to a new set of vector quarks allowed by the symmetries.
This paper investigates a signature of Lorentz invariance violation with the $t\bar{t}$ production at the LHC and future hadron colliders. Possible deviations from the Lorentz symmetry remain poorly constrained in the top quark sector. With a dedicated analysis of $t\bar{t}$ events produced at the LHC, bounds in the top sector can be improved by up to three orders of magnitude relative to Tevatron, the only measurement existing so far. The sensitivity will be even further enhanced at the HL-LHC and future colliders.
This article presents prospects for Lorentz-violation searches with $t\bar{t}$ at the LHC and future colliders. After a short presentation of the Standard-Model Extension as a Lorentz-symmetry-breaking effective field theory, we will focus on $t\bar{t}$ production. We study the impact of Lorentz violation as a function of center-of-mass energy and evaluate the sensitivity of collider experiments to this signal.
We derive a generalized Ward identity for color-superconducting quark matter via the functional integral approach. The identity implies the gauge independence of the color-superconducting gap parameter on the quasi-particle mass shell to subleading order in covariant gauge.
We make quantitative predictions for the rapidity and centrality dependencies of hadron multiplicities in $AA$, $pA$ and $pp$ collisions at the LHC energies basing on the ideas of parton saturation in the Color Glass Condensate.
We study the effect of color octet scalars on the high transverse momenta four-jet cross section at the LHC. We consider both weak singlet and doublet scalars, concentrating on the case of small couplings to quarks. We find that a relatively early discovery at the LHC is possible for a range of scalar masses.
In this work we estimate the heavy quark production in proton-proton and proton-nucleus collisions at LHC energies using the color dipole formalism and the solution of the running coupling Balitsky-Kovchegov equation. Nuclear effects are considered in the computation of the total cross sections and rapidity distributions for scattering on protons and nuclei.
Color octet (pseudo)scalars, if they exist, will be copiously produced at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). However, their detection can become a very challenging task. In particular, if their decay into a pair of top quarks is kinematically forbidden, the main decay channel would be into two jets, with a very large background. In this Brief Report we explore the possibility of using anomaly-induced decays of the color octet pseudoscalars into gauge bosons to find them at the LHC.
We show that the usual vector meson dominance method does not apply directly to the mixing of a color-octet vector boson (color-octet technirho) with the gluon because of gauge invariance. We propose a gauge invariant method where one works in a physical basis with mass eigenstate fields. As a result, we show that the physical technirho does not couple to two gluons, contrary to the general belief. Consequences for the production of a pair of color-octet, isosinglet technipions (technietas) at Fermilab is analysed by means of a simulation of the signal and background, including kinematical cut…
We consider a class of supersymmetric models containing baryon number violating processes such as observable neutron - antineutron oscillations that are mediated by color triplet diquark fields. For plausible values of the diquark-quark couplings, the scalar diquark with mass between a few hundred GeV and one TeV or so can be produced in the s-channel at the LHC and detected through its decay into a top quark and a hadronic jet.
We investigate threshold resummation effects in the production of a color sextet (antitriplet) scalar at next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (NNLL) order at the LHC in the frame of soft-collinear effective theory. We show the total cross section and the rapidity distribution with NLO+NNLL accuracy, and we compare them with the NLO results. Besides, we use recent dijet data at the LHC to give the constraints on the couplings between the colored scalars and quarks.
The cross section of the $μ^+μ^-$ pair production in $pp$-collisions at the LHC is calculated with acount of the $Z'$ boson induced by the minimal four color quark-lepton symmetry($MQLS$). The $μ^+μ^-$ invariant mass spectrum with account of the $MQLS$ $Z'$ boson is analysed in dependence on the $Z'$ mass. The mass region for the $MQLS$ $Z'$ boson observable at the LHC is found in dependence on the significance and on the integrated luminosity.
In a bent crystal the $P$-odd effect of short-lived baryon spin rotation could imitate spin rotation caused by assumed EDM. Use of different behavior of $P$-odd and $T$-odd spin rotations at crystal turning around the direction of particle momentum makes it possible to exclude $P$-odd rotation contribution, when measuring short-lived baryons EDM. Subtraction of the measurement results for angle ranges $φ$ and $φ+ π$ from each other enables measuring $T$-odd rotation at scattering of negatively charged beauty and neutral baryons by axes of unbent crystal.
Within the theoretical framework we apply, a suggested origin for single spin asymmetries is the presence of gauge links in transverse momentum dependent distribution functions. Recently we found new gauge link structures in a number of hard processes. These structures need to be considered in the evolution of parton distribution functions and for establishing factorization.
Elements of the phenomenology of color-octet scalars (sgluons), as predicted in the hybrid N=1/N=2 supersymmetric model, are discussed in the light of forthcoming experiments at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
Cross sections of the colored scalar particle production in $pp$-collisions are calculated and differential and total cross sections of the corresponding parton subprocesses are obtained. The total cross section of scalar gluon production in $pp$-collisions at the LHC is estimated and the dominant decays of scalar gluons are discussed. The production cross section of scalar gluons $F$ with masses $m_F\lesssim 1300$ GeV is shown to be sufficient for the effective production of these particles at the LHC.
The scalar color octet contribution to the resonance $t\bar{t}$-pair production at the LHC is calculated and analysed with account of the one loop effective two gluon vertex. It is shown that this contribution from the scalar color octet $F_2$ predicted by the minimal model with the four color quark-lepton symmetry is for $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV of about a few percents for $750 < m_{F_2} < 1800$ GeV and can exceed 10% for $400 < m_{F_2} < 750$ GeV. It is also pointed out that the search for the scalar octet $F_2$ as the resonance in the dijet mass spectra seems to be difficult because of the smallne…
The LHC is the perfect environment for the study of new physics in the top quark sector. We study the possibility of detecting signals of heavy color-octet vector resonances, through the charge asymmetry, in top-antitop+jet events. Besides contributions with the top-antitop pair in a color-singlet state, the asymmetry gets also contributions which are proportional to the color factor f_{abc}^2. This process is particularly interesting for extra-dimensional models, where the inclusive charge asymmetry generated by Kaluza-Klein excitations of the gluon vanishes at the tree level. We find that th…
We consider the color gauge invariance of a factorized description of the Drell-Yan process cross section. In particular, we focus on the next-to-leading twist contributions for polarized scattering and on the cross section differential in the transverse momentum of the lepton pair in the region where the transverse momentum is small compared to the hard scale. The hadron tensor is expressed in terms of manifestly color gauge invariant, nonlocal operator matrix elements and a color gauge invariant treatment of soft gluon poles is given. Also, we clarify the discrepancy between two published re…
We study photon-induced coherent production of Upsilon in ultraperipheral heavy ion collisions at LHC and demonstrate that the counting rates will be sufficient to measure nuclear shadowing of generalized gluon distributions. This will establish the transition from the regime of color transparency to the regime of perturbative color opacity in an unambiguous way. We argue that such measurements will provide the possibility to investigate the interaction of ultra-small color dipoles with nuclei in QCD at large energies, which are beyond the reach of the electron-nucleon (nucleus) colliders, and…
We propose a simple way to test the Abelian decomposition of QCD, the existence of two types of gluons, experimentally at LHC. The Abelian decomposition decomposes the gluons to the color neutral neurons and colored chromons gauge independently. This refines the Feynman diagram in a way that the color conservation is explicit, and generalizes the quark model to the quark and chromon model. We predict that the neuron jet has the color factor 3/4 and has a sharpest jet radius and smallest particle multiplicity, while the chromon jet with the color factor 9/4 remains the broadest jet. Moreover, t…
In my talk I gave a status update on the extension of the CoLoRFulNNLO subtraction method for computing QCD jet cross sections with hadrons in the initial state. The scheme has been fully worked out previously for electron-positron collisions and recently important steps have been made towards generalizing it to be able to deliver corrections of the same order for LHC processes as well. In particular, the important bottleneck of regularizing multiple real emissions has been addressed. We demonstrate the numerical stability of the CoLoRFulNNLO method by computing the doubly real contribution fo…
We study the factorization and resummation of the transverse momentum spectrum of the color sextet and antitriplet scalars produced at the LHC based on soft-collinear effective theory. Compared to Z boson and Higgs production, a soft function is required to account for the soft gluon emission from the final-state colored scalar. The soft function is calculated at the next-to-leading order, and the resummation is performed at the approximate next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. The non-perturbative effects and PDF uncertainties are also discussed.
One possible extension of the Standard Model scalar sector includes SU(2)_L doublet scalars that are color octets rather than singlets. We focus on models in which the couplings to fermions are consistent with the principle of minimal flavor violation (MFV), in which case these color octet scalars couple most strongly to the third generation of quarks. When the Yukawa coupling of color octet scalars to Standard Model fermions is less than unity, these states can live long enough to bind into color-singlet spin-0 hadrons, which we call octetonia. In this paper, we consider the phenomenology of …
An exact analytical solution to the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation is proposed incorporating Mellin transformation with saddle point approximation. The theoretical significance of this solution is its simplicity in form which requires very less number of parameters. Using this solution along with the idea of color glass condensate, a very good description of RHIC and LHC data on differential yield is obtained for d-Au, p-p and p-Pb collisions. Quantitative prediction for the nuclear modification factors for p-Pb, Pb-Pb and Xe-Xe collisions relevant for very recent LHC run 2 is yielded.
We show that a growth of the proton-proton total cross section with energy can be entirely attributed to the purely perturbative mechanism. The infrared regularization at rather short distances, $R_c\simeq 0.3$ fm, allows to extend the BFKL technique from deep inelastic to hadron-hadron scattering. With the account of the absorption corrections our results are in agreement with the LHC data on $σ_{tot}^{pp}$.
The modeling of color reconnection has become one of the dominant sources of systematic uncertainty in the top mass determination at hadron colliders. The uncertainty on the top mass due to color reconnection is conventionally estimated by taking the difference in the predictions of a model with and a model without color reconnection. We show that this procedure underestimates the uncertainty when applied to the existing models in {\sc Pythia}~8. We introduce two new classes of color reconnection models, each containing several variants, which encompass a variety of scenarios that could be rea…
The angular momentum mixing in a non-spherical CSC with nonzero azimuthal quantum number and therefore violating time reversal invariance has been examined. The mixing is bound to occur because of the equal strength of the pairing potential mediated by one-gluon exchange for all partial waves to the leading order QCD running coupling constant and the nonlinearity of the gap equation. The free energy with mixing is lower than that with p-wave pairing only, but still higher than that of the spherical CSL state.
A narrow resonance decaying to dijets could be discovered at the 14 TeV run of the LHC. To quickly identify its color structure in a model-independent manner, we introduced a method based on a color discriminant variable, determined from the measurements of the resonance's production cross section, mass and width. This talk introduces a more transparent theoretical formulation of the color discriminant variable that highlights its relationship to the branching ratios of the resonance into incoming and outgoing partons and to the properties of those partons. The formulation makes it easier to p…
In some new physics models, there exists a long-lived colored particle. Although such a particle is expected be discovered by studying the muon-like tracks, it is not easy to discriminate hadronic events from leptonic ones at the Large Hadron Collider. We focus on the charged track events associated with a single hard gluon jet. They are sensitive to the colored long-lived particle and found to be almost free from the background after applying the velocity cut. We also study the the process to probe properties of the particle.
Colored dark sectors where the dark matter particle is accompanied by colored partners have recently attracted theoretical and phenomenological interest. We explore the possibility that the dark sector consists of the dark matter particle and a color-octet partner, where the interaction with the Standard Model is governed by an effective operator involving gluons. The resulting interactions resemble the color analogues of electric and magnetic dipole moments. Although many phenomenological features of this kind of model only depend on the group representation of the partner under SU(3)$_c$, we…
We investigate the production of beyond-the-standard-model color-sextet vector bosons at the Large Hadron Collider and their decay into a pair of same-sign top quarks. We demonstrate that the energy of the charged lepton from the top quark semi-leptonic decay serves as a good measure of the top-quark polarization, which, in turn determines the quantum numbers of the boson and distinguishes vector bosons from scalars.
We extract constraints on the parameter space of the MW model by comparing the cross-sections for dijet, top-pair, dijet-pair, $t\bar t t \bar t$ and $b\bar b b \bar b$ productions at the LHC with the strongest available experimental limits from ATLAS or CMS at 8 or 13 TeV. Overall we find that masses below 1 TeV have not been excluded for color octet scalars as it is often claimed in the literature. The constraints that can be placed on coupling constants are typically weaker than those from existing theoretical considerations, with the exception of the parameter $η_D$.
Hadronic production of $P$-wave charmonium states $χ_{cJ}$ in hadronic interaction is considered. Using experimental results of CDF and LHCb collaborations we show, that contributions of color-singlet components are dominant. As for color-octet mechanism, we show, that contributions from $P$-wave states can also be observed, while $S$-wave states can be neglected. The best experimental observables that give information about relative importance of color-singlet and color-octet components are the ratios $χ_{c2}/χ_{c1}$ and $χ_{c0}/χ_{c1}$.
Many new-physics models, especially those with a color-triplet top-quark partner, contain a heavy color-octet state. The "naturalness" argument for a light Higgs boson requires that the color-octet state be not much heavier than a TeV, and thus it can be pair-produced with large cross sections at high-energy hadron colliders. It may decay preferentially to a top quark plus a top-partner, which subsequently decays to a top quark plus a color-singlet state. This singlet can serve as a WIMP dark-matter candidate. Such decay chains lead to a spectacular signal of four top quarks plus missing energ…
A gauge model with chiral color symmetry is considered and possible effects of the color $G'$-boson octet predicted by this symmetry are investigated in dependence on two free parameters, the mixing angle $θ_G$ and $G'$ mass $m_{G'}$. The allowed region in the $m_{G'} - θ_G$ plane is found from the Tevatron data on the cross section $σ_{t\bar{t}}$ and forward-backward asymmetry $A_{\rm FB}^{p \bar p}$ of the $t\bar{t}$ production. The mass limits for the $G'$-boson are shown to be stronger than those for the axigluon. A possible effect of the $G'$-boson on the $t\bar{t}$ production at the LHC …
The LHC is actively searching for narrow dijet resonances corresponding to physics beyond the Standard Model. Among the many resonances that have been postulated (e.g., colored vectors, scalars, and fermions) one that would have a particularly large production rate at the LHC would be a scalar diquark produced in the s-channel via fusion of two valence quarks. In previous work, we introduced a color discriminant variable that distinguishes among various dijet resonances, drawing on measurements of the dijet resonance mass, total decay width and production cross-section. Here, we show that this…
We consider a color octet scalar particle and its exotic decay in the channel gluon-$γ$ using an effective Lagrangian description for its strong and electromagnetic interactions. Such a state is present in many extensions of the Standard Model, and in particular in composite Higgs models with top partial compositeness, where couplings to photons arise via the Wess-Zumino-Witten term. We find that final states with one or two photons allow for a better reach at the LHC, even for small branching ratios. Masses up to $1.2$ TeV can be probed at the HL-LHC by use of all final states. Finally, we es…
We argue that the process gamma +A \to J/psi + gap + X at large momentum transfer provides a quick and effective way to test onset of a novel perturbative QCD regime of strong absorption for the interaction of small dipoles at the collider energies. We find that already the first heavy ion run at the LHC will allow to study this reaction with sufficient statistics via ultraperipheral collisions hence probing the interaction of q\bar q dipoles of sizes ~ 0.2 fm with nuclear media down to x ~ 10^{-5}.
Effective field theory (EFT) formulations of dark matter interactions have proven to be a convenient and popular way to quantify LHC bounds on dark matter. However, some of the non-renormalizable EFT operators considered do not respect the gauge symmetries of the Standard Model. We carefully discuss under what circumstances such operators can arise, and outline potential issues in their interpretation and application.
Hadron colliders are providing a unique opportunity for testing Lorentz invariance and CPT symmetry at high energy and in a laboratory. A first measurement in the top-quark sector was performed at the Tevatron. We present here prospective studies for testing Lorentz invariance in top-quark pair production at the LHC and future colliders. The b-quark sector was investigated recently at LHCb. Eventually, new bounds on photon parameters can be extracted from the observation of TeV photons at the LHC. We will conclude by highlighting other opportunities provided by hadron colliders.
We investigate the prospects for the discovery of massive hyper-gluons using data from the early runs of the CERN Large Hadron Collider with $\sqrt{s} = 7$ TeV and assuming an integrated luminosity of 1 fb$^{-1}$. A phenomenological Lagrangian is adopted to evaluate the cross section of a pair of colored vector bosons (coloron, $\tildeρ$) decaying into four colored scalar resonances (hyper-pion, $\tildeπ$), which then decay into eight gluons. We include the dominant physics background from the production of $8g$, $7g1q$, $6g2q$, and $5g3q$. We find an abundance of signal events and that realis…
We study the properties and production mechanisms of color-octet scalars at the LHC. We focus on the single production of both charged and neutral members of an (8,2)_1/2 doublet through bottom quark initial states. These channels provide a window to the underlying Yukawa structure of the scalar sector. Color-octet scalars naturally appear in grand unified theories based on the SU(5) gauge symmetry. In the context of adjoint SU(5) these fields are expected to be light to satisfy constraints coming from unification and proton decay, and may have TeV-scale masses. One combination of their coupli…
New physics at the weak scale that can couple to quarks typically gives rise to unacceptably large flavor changing neutral currents. An attractive way to avoid this problem is to impose the principal of minimal flavor violation (MFV). Recently it was noted that in MFV only scalars with the same gauge quantum numbers as the standard model Higgs doublet or color octet scalars with the same weak quantum numbers as the Higgs doublet can couple to quarks. In this paper we compute the one-loop rate for production of a single color octet scalar through gluon fusion at the LHC, which can become greate…
Composite Higgs models with a fermionic UV completion can contain additional colored states beside the usual top-partners. We focus here on a model which contains in addition SU(3) color octet top partners as well as color singlet ones. The latter can in principle serve as a dark matter candidate. We consider a particular composite Higgs model which contains SU(3) color octet top partners besides the usually considered triplet representations. Moreover, color singlet top partners are present as well which can in principle serve as dark matter candidates. We investigate the LHC phenomenology of…
Motivated by the possible diphoton excess around $750~\rm{GeV}$ observed by ATLAS and CMS at $13~\rm{TeV}$, we consider a coloron model from $\rm{SU}(3)_1 \times \rm{SU}(3)_2$ spontaneously breaking to the Standard Model $\rm{SU}(3)_C$. A colored massive vector boson is resonantly produced by $q \bar q $ in proton collision, followed by a colored scalar cascade decay. This process gives two photons and one jet in the final states. And the kinetic edge of the two photons can be an interpretation of the diphoton excess, while satisfying the dijet, $\rm{t}\bar{t}$, jet+photon resonance constraint…
We explore the perturbative QCD dynamics of hard parton-parton scattering through the exchange of a color singlet two-gluon ladder as described by the BFKL equation, resulting in a rapidity gap between two high transverse momentum jets. Implementing this in a complete Monte Carlo event simulation that also accounts for additional QCD processes at softer scales provides dynamical modeling of gap survival probabilities, which makes possible a detailed comparison with data on such jet-gap-jet events. New data from CMS at the LHC extend the dynamic range of the previous Tevatron data, and can be r…
The purely electroweak process $qq\to qqZ$ (via $t$-channel $γ/Z$ or $W$ exchange) provides a copious and fairly clean source of color-singlet exchange events in $pp$ collisions at the LHC. A judicious choice of phase-space region allows the suppression of QCD backgrounds to the level of the signal. The color-singlet-exchange signal can be distinguished from QCD backgrounds by the radiation patterns of additional minijets in individual events. A rapidity-gap trigger at the minijet level substantially enhances the signal versus the background. Analogous features of weak boson scattering events …
We propose that the possible 750 GeV diphoton excess can be explained in the color-octet neutrino mass model extended with a scalar singlet $Φ$. The model generally contains $N_s$ species of color-octet, electroweak doublet scalars $S$ and $N_f$ species of color-octet, electroweak triplet $χ$ or singlet $ρ$ fermions. While both scalars and fermions contribute to the production of $Φ$ through gluon fusion, only the charged members induce the diphoton decay of $Φ$. The diphoton rate can be significantly enhanced due to interference between the scalar and fermion loops. We show that the diphoton …
Using the unintegrated gluon distribution obtained from numerical simulations of the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation with running coupling, we obtain a very good description of RHIC data on single inclusive hadron production at forward rapidities in both p+p and d+Au collisions. No K-factors are needed for charged hadrons, whereas for pion production a rapidity independent K-factor of order 1/3 is needed. Extrapolating to LHC energies, we calculate nuclear modification factors for light hadrons in p+Pb collision, as well as the contribution of initial state effects to the suppression of the nuclea…
We consider the phenomenology of CP violation in a color-octet extended scalar sector for t\bar{t} production and decay at the LHC. In particular we study the effect of the two neutral color-octet scalars S_I and S_R that occur in the model. There are two new sources of CP violation: a phase in the couplings of S_{I,R} to top-quarks; and two phases in the quartic couplings of the scalar potential. In resonant production of a single S_{I,R} followed by its decay into t\bar{t} pairs through the parton level process gg to S_{I,R} to t\bar{t}, we find large raw CP asymmetries which can reach 12%. …
We perform a study of the LHC discovery reach on a heavy gluon (G*) and heavy fermions (top and bottom excitations), coming from a new composite sector. We find that heavy fermion resonances have a great impact on the composite gluon phenomenology. If the composite gluon is heavier than composite fermions, as flavor observables seem to suggest, the search in the channel where G* decays into a heavy fermion plus its Standard Model partner is very promising, with the possibility for both the G* and heavy fermions to be discovered at the early stage of the LHC. The channel offers also the possibi…
Physics beyond the standard model (SM) can be parameterized with an effective Lagrangian that respects the symmetries of the standard model and contains many operators of dimension six. We consider the subset of these operators that is responsible for flavor diagonal anomalous color magnetic (CMDM) and electric (CEDM) dipole couplings between quarks and gluons. Invariance of these operators under the SM implies that they contribute to Higgs boson production at the LHC and we study the corresponding constraints that can be placed on them. For the case of the top-quark we first review constraint…
In this work, we calculate the next-to-leading-order (NLO) QCD corrections to the process $p+p \to J/ψ+ γ$ via the color-singlet mechanism at the LHC. The results show that the partial cross section ($p_t^{J/ψ}>$3GeV and $|y^{J/ψ,γ}|<$3) is enhanced by a factor of about 2.0, and the differential cross section can be enhanced by two orders of magnitude in the large transverse momentum region of $J/ψ$. Furthermore, the polarization of $J/ψ$ changes from transverse polarization at leading-order to longitudinal polarization at NLO. For the inclusive $J/ψ$ hadroproduction, it is known that the colo…
In the composite models with colored substructure of the fermions the color singlet leptons are accompanied by a composite color octet partners, which are known as leptogluons. We consider the effect of leptogluons in the dilepton production at the LHC and show that in the reachable parameter range this effect is typically dominated by t-channel leptogluon exchange (indirect channel). We show that this channel alone can give a sizable contribution to the dimuon production at the LHC for TeV scale values of the invariant mass of the muon-antimuon pairs.
Heavy colored scalar particles appear in a variety of new physics (NP) models and could be produced at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Knowing the total production cross section is important for searching for these states and establishing bounds on their masses and couplings. Using soft-collinear effective theory, we derive a factorization theorem for the process $pp\to SX$, where $S$ is a color-octet scalar, that is applicable to any NP model provided the dominant production mechanism is gluon-gluon fusion. The factorized result for the inclusive cross section is similar to that for the Stan…
Color-octet scalars, if present at the TeV scale, will be produced in abundance at the LHC. We discuss in some detail the phenomenology of scalars in the (8,2)_{1/2} representation, recently identified by Manohar and Wise as an addition to the standard-model Higgs sector consistent with the principle of minimal flavor violation. Couplings of this multiplet to the Higgs lift the mass degeneracy among its states, possibly allowing for two-body decays of a heavier colored scalar to a lighter one and a gauge boson. We perform a renormalization group analysis of these couplings and find that limits…
Heavy quarkonium production in the framework of the non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics and leading order of the parton Reggeization approach at the Tevatron and LHC is discussed. In this note, we compare our predictions for the bottomonium production at the LHC due to the color-singlet approximation of the non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics with CMS and LHCb data. It is found, that in the production of Upsilon(1S) states, the color-singlet mechanism is dominating, whereas to describe the data for the inclusive Upsilon(2S) and Upsilon(3S) production, the color- octet contributions sho…
Although the Higgs boson mass and single production rate have been determined more or less precisely, its other properties may deviate significantly from its predictions in the standard model (SM) due to the uncertainty of Higgs data. In this work we study the Higgs pair production at the LHC in the Manohar-Wise model, which extends the SM by one family of color-octet and isospin-doublet scalars. We first scanned over the parameter space of the Manohar-Wise model considering exprimental constraints and performed fits in the model to the latest Higgs data by using the ATLAS and CMS data separat…
