We propose a new beam dump experiment at future colliders with electron ($e^-$) and positron ($e^+$) beams, BDee, which will provide a new possibility to search for hidden particles, like hidden photon. If a particle detector is installed behind the beam dump, it can detect the signal of in-flight decay of the hidden particles produced by the scatterings of $e^\pm$ beams off materials for dumping. We show that, compared to past experiments, BDee (in particular BDee at $e^+e^-$ linear collider) significantly enlarges the parameter region where the signal of the hidden particle can be discovered.
We study capability of the ILC beam dump experiment to search for new physics, comparing the performance of the electron and positron beam dumps. The dark photon, axion-like particles, and light scalar bosons are considered as new physics scenarios, where all the important production mechanisms are included: electron-positron pair-annihilation, Primakoff process, and bremsstrahlung productions. We find that the ILC beam dump experiment has higher sensitivity than past beam dump experiments, with the positron beam dump having slightly better performance for new physics particles which are produ…
High energy positron annihilation is a viable mechanism to produce dark photons ($A^\prime$). This reaction plays a significant role in beam-dump experiments using experiments using multi-GeV electron-beams on thick targets by enhancing the sensitivity to $A^\prime$ production. The positrons produced by the electromagnetic shower can produce an $A^\prime$ via non-resonant ($e^+ + e^- \to γ+ A^\prime$) and resonant ($e^+ + e^- \to A^\prime$) annihilation on atomic electrons. For visible decays, the contribution of resonant annihilation results in a larger sensitivity with respect to limits deri…
Positrons beam dump experiments have unique features to search for very narrow resonances coupled superweakly to $e^+ e^-$ pairs. Due to the continue loss of energy from soft photon bremsstrahlung, in the first few radiation lengths of the dump a positron beam can continuously scan for resonant production of new resonances via $e^+$ annihilation off an atomic $e^-$ in the target. In the case of a dark photon $A'$ kinetically mixed with the photon, this production mode is of first order in the electromagnetic coupling $α$, and thus parametrically enhanced with respect to the $O(α^2)$ $e^+e^- \t…
We propose a fixed-target experiment to search for Axion-like particles (ALPs) coupling to photons, which utilizes electron and positron beams available at KEK Linac. The sensitivity to ALP is evaluated for two shielding setups in conjunction with other beam dump experiments, fixed-target experiments, and $e^+e^-$ collider experiments. This study shows that the two setups can explore the gap between the search region excluded by the beam dump experiments and the $e^+e^-$ collider experiments.
A novel mechanism to produce and detect Light Dark Matter in experiments making use of GeV electrons (and positrons) impinging on a thick target (beam-dump) is proposed. The positron-rich environment produced by the electromagnetic shower allows to produce an $A^\prime$ via non-resonant ($e^+ + e^- \to γ+ A^\prime$) and resonant ($e^+ + e^- \to A^\prime$) annihilation on atomic electrons. The latter mechanism, for some selected kinematics, results in a larger sensitivity with respect to limits derived by the commonly used $A^\prime-strahlung$. This idea, applied to Beam Dump Experiments and {\…
We investigate features of the sterile neutrinos in the presence of a light gauge boson $X^μ$ that couples to the neutrino sector. The novel bounds on the active-sterile neutrino mixings $| U_{\ell 4} |^2$, especially for tau flavor ($l = τ$), from various collider and fixed target experiments are explored. Also, taking into account the additional decay channel of the sterile neutrino into a light gauge boson ($ν_4 \to ν_\ell e^+ e^-$), we explore and constrain a parameter space for low energy excess in neutrino oscillation experiments.
We study the prospects of searching for leptophilic gauge bosons (LGBs) at the beam dump experiment using $e^\pm$ beams of International $e^+e^-$ Linear Collider (ILC). We consider LGBs in association of $U(1)_{e-μ}$, $U(1)_{e-τ}$, and $U(1)_{μ-τ}$ gauge symmetries, which are assumed to be light and long-lived. Utilizing the energetic electron and positron beams of the ILC, we show that the ILC beam dump experiment can cover the parameter regions which have not been explored before. We also discuss the possibility of distinguishing various models.

Medium-energy electron beam-dump experiments provide an intense sources of secondary muons. These particles can be used to search for muon-coupling light dark scalars that may explain the $(g-2)_μ$ anomaly. We applied this idea to SLAC E137 experiment deriving new exclusion limits and evaluated the expected sensitivity for the planned Jefferson Lab BDX experiment (in case of null result report). The calculation is based on numerical simulations that include a realistic description of secondary muons generation in the dump, dark scalar production, propagation, and decay, and, finally, the decay…
We perform a feasibility study of a beam dump experiment at the International Linear Collider (ILC). To investigate the sensitivity to new light particles at the experiment, we consider models for axion-like particles (ALPs) and a light scalar particle coupled to charged leptons. For both models, we show that the detection sensitivity is almost an order of magnitude higher than other beam dump experiments in the small coupling region. For ALPs, it is shown that the ILC beam dump experiment is highly complementary to bounds from astrophysics. In addition, for the model of the scalar particle, t…
We evaluate the neutron and muon fluxes produced in the ILC beam dumps by Monte Carlo simulations and discuss their potential use in irradiation fields. We show that the beam dumps can provide high-intensity neutron and muon fluxes with spectra quite similar to secondary cosmic rays, which are suitable for soft error studies. The beam dumps deliver neutrons about $10^{11}$ times the secondary cosmic rays on spaces perpendicular to the beam axis and muons $10^8$ times downstream of the beam dumps in the initial phase of the ILC. Large-area irradiation of 1\,m$^2$ or more is possible. Difference…
We study constraints on light and feebly interacting bosons with lepton flavor violation from electron beam dump experiments. Scalar, vector, and dipole interactions of the bosons are analyzed, respectively, and excluded regions from the searches for decays into electron-positron pairs are derived. It is found that parameter regions unconstrained by flavor violating decays of muon can be excluded using the results of the E137 experiment. We also discuss the impact of the search for flavor violating decays of the light bosons in electron beam dump experiments.
We propose a new beam dump experiment at a future TeV-scale muon collider. A beam dump would be an economical and effective way to increase the discovery potential of the collider complex in a complementary regime. In this work we consider vector models such as the dark photon and $L_μ-L_τ$ gauge boson as new physics candidates and explore which novel regions of parameter space can be probed with a muon beam dump. We find that for the dark photon model, we gain sensitivity in the moderate mass (MeV - GeV) range at both higher and lower couplings compared to existing and proposed experiments, a…
The event generator BEEC [Z. Yang, X.G. Wu and X.Y. Wang, Comput. Phys. Commun. 184, 2848 (2013)] was devoted to the simulation of heavy quarkonium production at an unpolarized electron-positron collider. We upgraded it here by adding the generation of quarkonium with polarized electron and positron beams. In addition, the production of color-singlet 2S-wave states were included. Several future electron-positron colliders with high luminosity have been under discussion in the past decade. Especially, their possibility of producing polarized beams is important for providing more insights into t…
Two photon collisions offer a variety of physics studies that can be performed at the future electron-positron colliders. Using the planned CEPC parameters as a benchmark we consider several topics to be studied in the two-photon collisions. With the full integrated luminosity the Higgs boson photoproduction can be reliably observed. A large statistics of various quarkonium states can be collected. The LEP results on the photon structure function and the tau lepton anomalous magnetic moment can be improved by 1-2 orders of magnitude.
A beam dump experiment can be seamlessly added to the {proposed} International Linear Collider (ILC) program because the high energy electron beam should be dumped after the collision point. The ILC beam dump experiment will provide an excellent opportunity to search for new long-lived particles. Since many of them can be produced by a rare decay of standard model particles, we evaluate spectra of the mesons and $τ$ lepton at the decay based on the PHITS and PYTHIA8 simulations. As a motivated physics case, we study the projected sensitivity of heavy neutral leptons at the ILC beam dump experi…
The International Linear Collider is now proposed with a staged machine design, with the first stage at $\sqrt{s}=$~250 GeV and an integrated luminosity goal of 2~ab$^{-1}$. One of the questions for the machine design is the importance of positron polarization. In this report, we review the impact of positron polarization on the physics goals of the $250$ GeV stage of the ILC and demonstrate that positron polarization has distinct advantages.
By exploiting the relatively long lifetime of the tau lepton, we propose several novel methods for searching for new physics at an electron-positron collider. We consider processes that involve final states consisting of a tau lepton pair plus two missing particles. The mass and spin of the new physics particles can be measured in 3-prong tau decays. The tau polarization, which reflects the coupling to new physics, can be measured from the $τ\to πν$ decay channel using the impact parameter distribution of the charged pion. We also discuss the corresponding backgrounds for these measurements, t…
Precision studies at electron-positron colliders with center-of-mass energies in the charm-tau region and below have strongly contributed to our understanding of light-meson interactions at low energies. We focus on the processes involving two or three light mesons with invariant masses below nucleon-antinucleon threshold. A prominent role is given to the interactions of the nine lightest pseudoscalar mesons (pions, kaons, $η$, and $η'$) and the two narrow neutral isoscalar vector mesons $ω$ and $ϕ$. Experimental methods used to produce the mesons are reviewed as well as theory tools to extrac…
A precise knowledge of charged Triple Gauge Couplings (cTGCs) is important for the determination of Higgs couplings and for constraining physics beyond the Standard Model. Future high-energy $e^{+}e^{-}$ colliders could have a significantly improved sensitivity to anomalous cTGCs. The fit framework presented here extracts cTGCs in parallel with chiral cross sections and beam polarisation parameters. It demonstrates that cTGCs can be measured with precision in the $10^{-3}-10^{-4}$ range. A strong dependence of the cTGC sensitivity on the available luminosities and polarisations is observed.
Probing Higgs width $Γ_h$ is critical to test the Higgs properties. In this work we propose to measure $Γ_h$ at the $e^+e^-$ collider with a model-independent analysis under the Standard Model Effective Field Theory framework. We demonstrate that making use of the cross section measurements from $e^+e^-\to Zh$, $e^+e^-\to ν_e\barν_eh$ production and Higgs decay branching ratios $h\to WW^*/ZZ^*/γγ$, one could determine $Γ_h$ at a percentage level with a center of mass energy $\sqrt{s}=250$ and 350 GeV and integrated luminosity $5~{\rm ab}^{-1}$. This conclusion would not depend on the assumptio…
Despite the compelling amount of evidence for the existence of dark matter, its exact nature is still one of the main open questions in modern physics. A great experimental effort has been performed to probe one of the most popular dark matter candidates, the Weakly Interacting Massive Particle or WIMP, however, there has not been any conclusive detection yet. Hence, these searches place strong constraints on the WIMP paradigm. The community has therefore started to consider alternatives who are able to evade the strong experimental constraints. Such a candidate that has gained a lot of attent…
The addition of $SU(2)_L$ triplet fermions of zero hypercharge with the Standard Model (SM) helps to explain the origin of the neutrino mass by the so-called seesaw mechanism. Such a scenario is commonly know as the type-III seesaw model. After the electroweak symmetry breaking the mixings between the light and heavy mass eigenstates of the neutral leptons are developed which play important roles in the study of the charged and neutral multiplets of the triplet fermions at the colliders. In this article we study such interactions to produce these multiplets of the triplet fermion at the electr…
The violation of CP symmetry at the electro-weak scale is one of the essential ingredients for electro-weak baryogenesis. It is therefore of great interest to map the CP properties of the Higgs sector in as much detail as possible. A linear electron-positron Higgs factory collider will provide many opportunities to probe the CP nature of the Higgs sector, thanks to access to several Higgs production processes at a wide range of centre-of-mass energies. In this paper we report on two studies based on full simulation of detector response and realistic reconstruction algorithms: 1) a study of $h …
Circular electron positron colliders, such as the CEPC and FCC-ee, have been proposed to measure Higgs boson properties precisely, test the Standard Model, search for physics beyond the Standard Model, and so on. One of the important goals of these colliders is to measure the $W$ boson mass with great precision by taking data around the $W$-pair production threshold. In this paper, the data-taking scheme is investigated to maximize the achievable precisions of the $W$ boson mass and width with a threshold scan, when various systematic uncertainties are taken into account. The study shows that …
We investigate the prospects for discovering axion-like particles (ALPs) via a light-by-light (LBL) scattering at two colliders, the future circular collider (FCC-ee) and circular electron-positron collider (CEPC). The promising sensitivities to the effective ALP-photon coupling $g_{aγγ}$ are obtained. Our numerical results show that the FCC-ee and CEPC might be more sensitive to the ALPs with mass 2 GeV $\sim$ 10 GeV than the LHC and CLIC.

We study the prospects for the exotic Higgs decay mode $h\to ss\to 4τ$ at planned electron-positron colliders in the case where the beyond-the-Standard Model particle $s$ is too light to decay into $b \bar b$ pairs. We find that with 5 ab$^{-1}$ of unpolarized collisions at 240 GeV, the branching ratio into this final state can be constrained to be below $\sim 1.3\times 10^{-4}$ at 95\% CL, depending on the mass of $s$ and the assumed tracking efficiency.
