We investigate the evolution of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) in its symmetric phase before the electroweak phase transition (EWPT) induced by leptogenesis in the hypermagnetic field of an arbitrary structure and with a maximum hypermagnetic helicity density. The novelty of this work is that the BAU has been calculated for a continuous hypermagnetic helicity spectrum. The observed BAU $B_{obs} = 10^{-10}$ that can be in large-scale hypermagnetic fields satisfying the wave number inequality $k \leq k_{max}$ grows with increasing $k_{max}$. We will also show that the initial right-handed electron asymmetry $ξ_{eR}(η_0)$ used in our leptogenesis model as a free parameter cannot take too large values, $ξ_{eR}(η_0) = 10^{-4}$, because this leads to a negative BAU by the EWPT time. In contrast, a sufficiently small initial right-handed electron asymmetry, $ξ_{eR}(η_0)$, provides its further growth and the corresponding BAU growth from zero to some positive value, including the observed $B_{obs} = 10^{-10}$.
We study hypermagnetic helicity and lepton asymmetry evolution in plasma of the early Universe before the electroweak phase transition (EWPT) accounting for chirality flip processes via inverse Higgs decays and sphaleron transitions which violate the left lepton number and wash out the baryon asymmetry of the Universe (BAU). In the scenario where the right electron asymmetry supports the BAU alone through the conservation law $B/3 - L_{eR}=const$ at temperatures $T>T_{RL}\simeq 10 TeV$ the following universe cooling leads to the production of a non-zero left lepton (electrons and neutrinos) as…
We study baryon asymmetry generation originated from the leptogenesis in the presence of hypermagnetic fields in the early Universe plasma before the electroweak phase transition (EWPT). For the simplest Chern-Simons (CS) wave configuration of hypermagnetic field we find the baryon asymmetry growth when the hypermagnetic field value changes due to alpha^2-dynamo and the lepton asymmetry rises due to the Abelian anomaly. We solve the corresponding integro-differential equations for the lepton asymmetries describing such self-consistent dynamics for lepto- and baryogenesis in the two scenarios :…
The hypermagnetic helicity density at the electroweak phase transition (EWPT) exceeds many orders of magnitude the galactic magnetic helicity density. Together with previous magnetic helicity evolution calculations after the EWPT and hypermagnetic helicity conversion to the magnetic one at the EWPT, the present calculation completes the description of the evolution of this important topological feature of cosmological magnetic fields. It suggests that if the magnetic field seeding the galactic dynamo has a primordial origin, it should be substantially helical. This should be taken into account…
The dynamics of the magnetic helicity during the electroweak phase transition in the early Universe is studied. It is shown that the boundary surface between symmetric (hypermagnetic) phase and Maxwellian phase with a broken symmetry is a membrana for the separation of the magnetic helicity. Assuming the total linking number of knots of hypermagnetic field is negative, it is proved that the helicity rising in the Maxwellian phase is left-handed.

In the scenario where the right electron asymmetry supports the BAU alone through the conservation law $B/3 - L_{eR}=const$ at temperatures $T>T_{RL}\simeq 10~TeV$ the following universe cooling leads to the production of a non-zero left lepton (electrons and neutrinos) as…
The generation of the baryon asymmetry of the Universe (BAU) from the hypermagnetic helicity, the physical interpretation of which is given in terms of hypermagnetic knots, is studied in inflationary cosmology, taking into account the breaking of the conformal invariance of hypercharge electromagnetic fields through both a coupling with the dilaton and that with a pseudoscalar field. It is shown that if the electroweak phase transition (EWPT) is strongly first order and the present amplitude of the generated magnetic fields on the horizon scale is sufficiently large, a baryon asymmetry with a …
We study the evolution of the matter-antimatter asymmetry (η), the vorticity, and the hypermagnetic field in the symmetric phase of the early Universe, and in the temperature range 100 GeV < T < 10 TeV. We assume a configuration for the hypermagnetic field which includes both helical and non-helical (Bz) components. Consequently, the hypermagnetic field and the fluid vorticity can directly affect each other, the manifestations of which we explore in three scenarios. In the first scenario, we show that in the presence of a small vorticity and a large ηeR, helicity can be generated and amplified…
It has been pointed out that hypermagnetic helicity decay at the electroweak symmetry breaking may have produced the observed baryon asymmetry of the Universe through the chiral anomaly in the standard model of particle physics. Although fully helical magnetic field that can adequately produce the observed baryon asymmetry is not strong enough to explain the origin of the intergalactic magnetic field inferred by the Fermi satellite, the mixture of helical and nonhelical primordial magnetic fields may explain both baryogenesis and the intergalactic magnetic fields simultaneously. We first show …
We study a new scenario for baryogenesis due to the spontaneous breaking of the $CPT$ invariance through the interaction between a baryon current and a hypermagnetic helicity. The hypermagnetic helicity (Chern-Simons number) of $U(1)_Y$ provides a $CPT$ violation background for the generation of baryons via sphaleron processes, which protects these baryons from the sphaleron wash-out effect in thermal equilibrium. It is shown that if the present amplitude of the resultant magnetic fields are sufficiently large, for a wide range mass scale (from TeV to the Planck scale), the observational magni…
As a result of the Standard Model chiral anomalies, baryon number is violated in the early universe in the presence of a hypermagnetic field with varying helicity. We investigate whether the matter / anti-matter asymmetry of the universe can be created from the decaying helicity of a primordial (hyper)magnetic field before and after the electroweak phase transition. In this model, baryogenesis occurs without $(B-L)$-violation, since the $(B+L)$ asymmetry generated by the hypermagnetic field counteracts the washout by electroweak sphalerons. At the electroweak crossover, the hypermagnetic field…
We show that maximally helical hypermagnetic fields produced during pseudoscalar inflation can generate the observed baryon asymmetry of the universe via the B+L anomaly in the Standard Model. We find that most of the parameter space of pseudoscalar inflation that explains the cosmological data leads to baryon overproduction, hence the models of natural inflation are severely constrained. We also point out a connection between the baryon number and topology of the relic magnetic fields. Both the magnitude and sign of magnetic helicity can be detected in future diffuse gamma ray data. This will…
We study a matter turbulence caused by strong random hypermagnetic fields (HMFs ) that influence the baryon asymmetry evolution due to the Abelian anomalies in the symmetric phase in the early Universe. Such a matter turbulence is stipulated by the presence of the advection term in the induction equation for which a fluid velocity is dominated by the Lorentz force in the Navier-Stokes equation. For random HMFs, having nonzero mean squared strengths, we calculate the spectra for the HMF energy and the HMF helicity densities. The latter function governs the evolution of the fermion asymmetries i…
It is pointed out that the heavy singlet neutrinos characteristic of leptogenesis develop asymmetries in the abundances of the two helicity states as a result of the same mechanism that generates asymmetries in the standard lepton sector. Neutrinos and standard leptons interchange asymmetries in collisions with each other. It is shown that an appropriate quantum number, B-L', combining baryon, lepton and neutrino asymmetries, is not violated as fast as the standard B-L. This suppresses the washout effects relevant for the derivation of the final baryon asymmetry. One presents detailed calculat…
We propose that the observed matter-antimatter asymmetry can be naturally produced as a byproduct of axion-driven slow-roll inflation by coupling the axion to standard-model neutrinos. We assume that GUT scale right-handed neutrinos are responsible for the masses of the standard model neutrinos and that the Higgs field is light during inflation and develops a Hubble scale vacuum expectation value (VEV). In this set up, the rolling axion generates a helicity asymmetry in standard-model neutrinos. Following inflation, this helicity asymmetry becomes equal to a net lepton number as the Higgs VEV …
At finite hyperconductivity and finite fermionic density the flux lines of long range hypermagnetic fields may not have a topologically trivial structure. The combined evolution of the chemical potentials and of pseudoscalar fields (like the axial Higgs), possibly present for temperatures in the TeV range, can twist the hypercharge flux lines, producing, ultimately, hypermagnetic knots (HK). The dynamical features of the HK depend upon the various particle physics parameters of the model (pseudoscalar masses and couplings, strength of the electroweak phase transition, hyperconductivity of the …
We elaborate upon the model of baryogenesis from decaying magnetic helicity by focusing on the evolution of the baryon number and magnetic field through the Standard Model electroweak crossover. The baryon asymmetry is determined by a competition between the helical hypermagnetic field, which sources baryon number, and the electroweak sphaleron, which tends to wash out baryon number. At the electroweak crossover both of these processes become inactive; the hypermagnetic field is converted into an electromagnetic field, which does not source baryon number, and the weak gauge boson masses grow, …
In this paper, we explore the evolution of baryon asymmetry as well as the hypermagnetic field in the early universe with an assumption that the flavon of the Froggatt-Nielsen carries an asymmetry. Through the decay of the flavon to Standard Model fermions, this asymmetry is transferred to fermions, where the right-handed electron keeps its asymmetry while its Yukawa interaction is out of thermal equilibrium. Through the existence of the flavon, we can ensure that the freezing-in temperature of the right-handed electron is closer to the electroweak phase transition than the Standard cosmology …
The anomalous conversion of leptons into baryons during leptogenesis is shown to produce a right-handed helical magnetic field; in contrast, the magnetic field produced during electroweak baryogenesis is known to be left-handed. If the cosmological medium is turbulent, the magnetic field evolves to have a present day coherence scale and field strength that are of astrophysical interest. Observations of the amplitude, coherence scale, and helicity of the intergalactic magnetic field promise to provide a powerful probe of physics beyond the Standard Model and the very early universe.
Helical hypermagnetic fields in the primordial Universe can produce the observed amount of baryon asymmetry through the chiral anomaly without any ingredients beyond the standard model of particle physics. While they generate no $B-L$ asymmetry, the generated baryon asymmetry survives the spharelon washout effect, because the generating process remains active until the electroweak phase transition. Solving the Boltzmann equation numerically and finding an attractor solution, we show that the baryon asymmetry of our Universe can be explained, if the present large-scale magnetic fields indicated…
It is shown that the dynamics of domain walls in Left-Right symmetric models, separating respective regions of unbroken SU(2)_L and SU(2)_R in the early universe, can give rise to baryogenesis via leptogenesis. Neutrinos have a spatially varying complex mass matrix due to CP-violating scalar condensates in the domain wall. The motion of the wall through the plasma generates a flux of lepton number across the wall which is converted to a lepton asymmetry by helicity-flipping scatterings. Subsequent processing of the lepton excess by sphalerons results in the observed baryon asymmetry, for a ran…
