Regular Representations of Lattice Ordered Semigroups

We establish a necessary and sufficient condition for a representation of a lattice ordered semigroup to be regular, in the sense that certain extensions are completely positive definite. This result generalizes a theorem due to Brehmer where the lattice ordered group was taken to be $\mathbb{Z}_+^Ω$. As an immediate consequence, we prove that contractive Nica-covariant representations on lattice ordered semigroups are regular, and therefore, its minimal isometric dilation is also Nica-covariant. We also introduce an analog of commuting row contractions on lattice ordered group and show that such a representation is regular.

Ordered $$-Semigroups and a $C^$-Correspondence for a Partial Isometry

Certain $*$-semigroups are associated with the universal $C^*$-algebra generated by a partial isometry, which is itself the universal $C^*$-algebra of a $*$-semigroup. Subsystems of Fock Need Not Be Fock: Spatial CP-Semigroups

We show that a product subsystem of a time ordered system (that is, a product system of time ordered Fock modules), though type I, need not be isomorphic to a time ordered product system. In that way, we answer an open problem in the classification of CP-semigroups by product systems. We define spatial strongly continuous CP-semigroups on a unital C*-algebra and characterize them as those that have a Christensen-Evans generator.

C*-envelopes of semicrossed products by lattice ordered abelian semigroups

A semicrossed product is a non-selfadjoint operator algebra encoding the action of a semigroup on an operator or C*-algebra. We prove that, when the positive cone of a discrete lattice ordered abelian group acts on a C*-algebra, the C*-envelope of the associated semicrossed product is a full corner of a crossed product by the whole group. By constructing a C*-cover that itself is a full corner of a crossed product, and computing the Shilov ideal, we obtain an explicit description of the C*-envelope. Nuclearity of semigroup C*-algebras

We study the semigroup C*-algebra of a positive cone P of a weakly quasi-lattice ordered group. That is, P is a subsemigroup of a discrete group G with P\cap P^{-1}=\{e\} and such that any two elements of P with a common upper bound in P also have a least upper bound. We find sufficient conditions for the semigroup C*-algebra of P to be nuclear. These conditions involve the idea of a generalised length function, called a "controlled map", into an amenable group. Twisted actions and regular Fell bundles over inverse semigroups

We introduce a new notion of twisted actions of inverse semigroups and show that they correspond bijectively to certain regular Fell bundles over inverse semigroups, yielding in this way a structure classification of such bundles. These include as special cases all the stable Fell bundles. Nuclearity of semigroup C*-algebras and the connection to amenability

We study C*-algebras associated with subsemigroups of groups. For a large class of such semigroups including positive cones in quasi-lattice ordered groups and left Ore semigroups, we describe the corresponding semigroup C*-algebras as C*-algebras of inverse semigroups, groupoid C*-algebras and full corners in associated group crossed products. Representing a product system representation as a contractive semigroup and applications to regular isometric dilations

In this paper we propose a new technical tool for analyzing representations of Hilbert $C^*$-product systems. Using this tool, we give a new proof that every doubly commuting representation over $\mathbb{N}^k$ has a regular isometric dilation, and we also prove sufficient conditions for the existence of a regular isometric dilation of representations over more general subsemigroups of $\mathbb{R}_+^k$.

$C^*$-algebras of inverse semigroups: amenability and weak containment

We argue that weak containment is an appropriate notion of amenability for inverse semigroups. Given an inverse semigroup $S$ and a homomorphism $ϕ$ of $S$ onto a group $G$, we show, under an assumption on $\ker(ϕ)$, that $S$ has weak containment if and only if $G$ is amenable and $\ker(ϕ)$ has weak containment. Using Fell bundle amenability, we find a related result for inverse semigroups with zero. Regular Dilation and Nica-covariant Representation on Right LCM Semigroups

Regular dilation has recently been extended to graph product of $\mathbb{N}$, where having a *-regular dilation is equivalent to having a minimal isometric Nica-covariant dilation. In this paper, we first extend the result to right LCM semigroups, and establish a similar equivalence among *-regular dilation, minimal isometric Nica-covariant dilation, and a Brehmer-type condition. This result can be applied to various semigroups to establish conditions for *-regular dilation.

Isometric Representations of Totally Ordered Semigroups

Let S be a subsemigroup of an abelian torsion-free group G. If S is a positive cone of G, then all C*-algebras generated by faithful isometrical non-unitary representations of S are canonically isomorphic. Normal Extensions of Representations of Abelian Semigroups

A commuting family of subnormal operators need not have a commuting normal extension. We study when a representation of an abelian semigroup can be extended to a normal representation, and show that it suffices to extend the set of generators to commuting normals. We also extended a result due to Athavale to representations on abelian lattice ordered semigroups.

On the K-theory of the C*-algebra generated by the left regular representation of an Ore semigroup

We compute the K-theory of C*-algebras generated by the left regular representation of left Ore semigroups satisfying certain regularity conditions. Our result describes the K-theory of these semigroup C*-algebras in terms of the K-theory for the reduced group C*-algebras of certain groups which are typically easier to handle. Then we apply our result to specific semigroups from algebraic number theory.

Zappa-Szép products of semigroups and their C*-algebras

Zappa-Szép products of semigroups encompass both the self-similar group actions of Nekrashevych and the quasi-lattice-ordered groups of Nica. We use Li's construction of semigroup $C^*$-algebras to associate a $C^*$-algebra to Zappa-Szép products and give an explicit presentation of the algebra. $C^*$-algebras generated by the paths semigroup

In this paper we study the structure of the $C^*$-algebra, generated by the representation of the paths semigroup on a partially ordered set (poset) and get the net of isomorphic $C^*$-algebras over this poset.
