The purpose of this short article is to prove some potential estimates that naturally arise in the study of subelliptic Sobolev inequalites for functions. This will allow us to prove a local subelliptic Sobolev inequality with the optimal amount of smoothing, as well as a variant of that which describes quantitatively an improvement of the inequality as one gets away from certain characteristic varieties.
The Riesz-Sobolev inequality provides an upper bound, in integral form, for the convolution of indicator functions of subsets of Euclidean space. We formulate and prove a sharper form of the inequality. This can be equivalently phrased as a stability result, quantifying an inverse theorem of Burchard that characterizes cases of equality.
We provide an improvement of Calderón and Torchinsky's version of the Hörmander multiplier theorem on Hardy spaces $H^p$ ($0<p<\infty$), by replacing the Sobolev space $L_s^2(A_0)$ by the Lorentz-Sobolev space $L_s^{τ^{(s,p)} ,\min(1,p) }(A_0)$, where $τ^{(s,p)} =\frac{n}{s-(n/\min{(1,p)}-n)}$ and $A_0$ is the annulus $\{ξ\in \mathbb{R}^n: 1/2<|ξ|<2\}$. Our theorem also extends that of Grafakos and Slavíková to the range $0<p\le 1$. Our result is sharp in the sense that the preceding Lorentz-Sobolev space cannot be replaced by a smaller Lorentz-Sobolev space $L^{r,q}_s(A_0)$ with $r< τ^{(s,p)}…
We provide an improvement of the Hörmander multiplier theorem in which the Sobolev space $L^r_s(\mathbb R^n)$ with integrability index $r$ and smoothness index $s>n/r$ is replaced by the Sobolev space with smoothness $s$ built upon the Lorentz space $L^{n/s,1}(\mathbb R^n)$.
We calculate the the sharp constant and characterise the extremal initial data in $\dot{H}^{\frac{3}{4}}\times\dot{H}^{-\frac{1}{4}}$ for the $L^4$ Sobolev--Strichartz estimate for the wave equation in four space dimensions.
The embedding relations between Besov-Triebel-Sobolev spaces and modulation spaces are determined explicitly. We extend the results of Sugimoto[2007]; Wang[2007] and Kobayashi[2011] to the most general cases. And we give the sharp embedding between Fourier $L^{p}$ spaces and modulation spaces.
In this paper, we got several sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev-type inequalities on quaternionic Heisenberg groups (a general form due to Folland and Stein [FS74]), using the symmetrization-free method in a paper of Frank and Lieb [FL12], where they considered the analogues on classical Heisenberg group. First, we give the sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities, both on quaternionic Heisenberg group and its equivalent on quaternionic sphere for exponent bigger than 4. The extremizer, as we guess, is almost uniquely constant function on sphere. Then their dual form, sharp conformally-invaria…
In this article, the authors establish a new characterization of the Musielak--Orlicz--Sobolev space on $\mathbb{R}^n$, which includes the classical Orlicz--Sobolev space, the weighted Sobolev space and the variable exponent Sobolev space as special cases, in terms of sharp ball averaging functions. Even in a special case, namely, the variable exponent Sobolev space, the obtained result in this article improves the corresponding result obtained by P. Hästö and A. M. Ribeiro [Commun. Contemp. Math. 19 (2017), 1650022, 13 pp] via weakening the assumption $f\in L^1(\mathbb R^n)$ into $f\in L_{\ma…
We prove an asymptotically sharp dimension upper-bound for the boundary of bounded simply-connected planar Sobolev $W^{1,p}$-extension domains via the weak mean porosity of the boundary. The sharpness of our estimate is shown by examples.
Let $ϕ$ be a quasiconformal mapping, and let $T_ϕ$ be the composition operator which maps $f$ to $f\circϕ$. Since $ϕ$ may not be bi-Lipschitz, the composition operator need not map Sobolev spaces to themselves. The study begins with the behavior of $T_ϕ$ on $L^p$ and $W^{1,p}$ for $1<p<\infty$. This cases are well understood but alternative proofs of some known results are provided. Using interpolation techniques it is seen that compactly supported Bessel potential functions in $H^{s,p}$ are sent to $H^{s,q}$ whenever $0<s<1$ for appropriate values of $q$. The techniques used lead to sharp res…
By using, among other things, the Fourier analysis techniques on hyperbolic and symmetric spaces, we establish the Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya inequalities for higher order derivatives on half spaces. The proof relies on a Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality on hyperbolic spaces which is of its independent interest. We also give an alternative proof of Benguria, Frank and Loss' work concerning the sharp constant in the Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya inequality in the three dimensional upper half space. Finally, we show the sharp constant in the Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya inequality for bi-Laplacian in the upper half…
This paper continues the program initiated in the works by the authors [60], [61] and [62] and by the authors with Li [51] and [52] to establish higher order Poincaré-Sobolev, Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya, Adams and Hardy-Adams inequalities on real hyperbolic spaces using the method of Helgason-Fourier analysis on the hyperbolic spaces. The aim of this paper is to establish such inequalities on the Siegel domains and complex hyperbolic spaces. Firstly, we prove a factorization theorem for the operators on the complex hyperbolic space which is closely related to Geller' operator, as well as the CR inva…
We prove a multiplier theorem of Mihlin-Hörmander type for operators of the form $-Δ_x - V(x) Δ_y$ on $\mathbb{R}^{d_1}_x \times \mathbb{R}^{d_2}_y$, where $V(x) = \sum_{j=1}^{d_1} V_j(x_j)$, the $V_j$ are perturbations of the power law $t \mapsto |t|^{2σ}$, and $σ\in (1/2,\infty)$. The result is sharp whenever $d_1 \geq σd_2$. The main novelty of the result resides in its robustness: this appears to be the first sharp multiplier theorem for nonelliptic subelliptic operators allowing for step higher than two and perturbation of the coefficients. The proof hinges on precise estimates for eigenv…
