Astrophysical observations have put unprecedentedly tight constraints on cosmological theories. The $Λ$CDM model, mathematically simple and fits observational data-sets well, is preferred for explaining the behavior of universe. But many basic features of the dark sectors are still unknown, which leaves rooms for various nonstandard cosmological hypotheses. As the pressure of cosmological constant dark energy is unvarying, ignoring contributions from radiation and curvature terms at low redshift, the effective pressure keeps constant. In this paper, we propose two parametric models for non-constant effective pressure in order to study the tiny deviation from $Λ$CDM at low redshift. We recover our phenomenological models in the scenarios of quintessence and phantom fields, and explore the behavior of scalar field and potential. We constrain our model parameters with SNe Ia and BAO observations, and detect subtle hints of $ω_{de}<-1$ from the data fitting results of both models, which indicates possibly a phantom dark energy scenario at present.
Using the Friedmann equations for a closed universe with spin and torsion, parametric equations for the scale factor and time are derived for the early universe.
Inferring high-fidelity constraints on the spatial curvature parameter, $Ω_{\rm K}$, under as few assumptions as possible, is of fundamental importance in cosmology. We propose a method to non-parametrically infer $Ω_{\rm K}$ from late-Universe probes alone. Using Gaussian Processes (GP) to reconstruct the expansion history, we combine Cosmic Chronometers (CC) and Type Ia Supernovae (SNe~Ia) data to infer constraints on curvature, marginalized over the expansion history, calibration of the CC and SNe~Ia data, and the GP hyper-parameters. The obtained constraints on $Ω_{\rm K}$ are free from pa…
We discuss the essential features of baby-universe production, starting from a description of black holes and wormholes, in terms of the causal structure of spacetime, and following a qualitative review of the connection between vacuum decay and inflation in early universe cosmology. Related open questions are also addressed, especially in connection with the possibility that baby universes could be formed within our present universe - either in a future particle accelerator, or spontaneously.
We consider nonlinear redshift-dependent equation of state parameters as dark energy models in a spatially flat Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker universe. To depict the expansion history of the universe in such cosmological scenarios, we take into account the large scale behaviour of such parametric models and fit them using a set of latest observational data with distinct origin that includes cosmic microwave background radiation, Supernove Type Ia, baryon acoustic oscillations, redshift space distortion, weak gravitational lensing, Hubble parameter measurements from cosmic chronometers an…
A comparative study of a set of parametric dark energy models is performed by studying the evolution of dark energy both in the past and future epochs. In addition, the age of the universe and time till the distant future $(a=1000)$ are estimated. The validity of generalized second law of thermodynamic in different parametric models is also ascertained.
We bring forward a generalized pressure dark energy (GPDE) model to explore the evolution of the universe. This model has covered three common pressure parameterization types and can be reconstructed as quintessence and phantom scalar fields, respectively. We adopt the cosmic chronometer (CC) datasets to constrain the parameters. The results show that the inferred late-universe parameters of the GPDE model are (within $1σ$): The present value of Hubble constant $H_{0}=(72.30^{+1.26}_{-1.37})$km s$^{-1}$ Mpc$^{-1}$; Matter density parameter $Ω_{\text{m0}}=0.302^{+0.046}_{-0.047}$, and the unive…
In this paper, we use the Cosmokinematics approach to study the accelerated expansion of the Universe. This is a model independent approach and depends only on the assumption that the Universe is homogeneous and isotropic and is described by the FRW metric. We parametrize the deceleration parameter, $q(z)$, to constrain the transition redshift ($z_t$) at which the expansion of the Universe goes from a decelerating to an accelerating phase. We use three different parametrizations of $q(z)$ namely, $q_\I(z)=q_{\textnormal{\tiny\textsc{1}}}+q_{\textnormal{\tiny\textsc{2}}}z$, $q_\II (z) = q_\3 + …
In this paper, we propose a new pressure parametric model of the total cosmos energy components in a spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe and then reconstruct the model into quintessence and phantom scenarios, respectively. By constraining with the datasets of the type Ia supernova (SNe Ia), the baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) and the observational Hubble parameter data(OHD), we find that $Ω_{m0}=0.270^{+0.039}_{-0.034}$ at the 1$σ$ level and our universe slightly biases towards quintessence behavior. Then we use two diagnostics including $Om(a)$ diagnostic and statefinde…
The coupling between spin and torsion in the Einstein-Cartan-Sciama-Kibble theory of gravity generates gravitational repulsion at very high densities, which prevents a singularity in a black hole and may create there a new universe. We show that quantum particle production in such a universe near the last bounce, which represents the Big Bang gives the dynamics that solves the horizon, flatness, and homogeneity problems in cosmology. For a particular range of the particle production coefficient, we obtain a nearly constant Hubble parameter that gives an exponential expansion of the universe wi…
We present Euclidean wormhole solutions describing possible bridges within the multiverse. The study is carried out in the framework of the third quantization. The matter content is modelled through a scalar field which supports the existence of a whole collection of universes. The instanton solutions describe Euclidean solutions that connect baby universes with asymptotically de Sitter universes. We compute the tunnelling probability of these processes. Considering the current bounds on the energy scale of inflation and assuming that all the baby universes are nucleated with the same probabil…
We construct nonsingular cyclic cosmologies that respect the null energy condition, have a large hierarchy between the minimum and maximum size of the universe, and are stable under linearized fluctuations. The models are supported by a combination of positive curvature, a negative cosmological constant, cosmic strings and matter that at the homogeneous level behaves as a perfect fluid with equation of state -1 < w < -1/3. We investigate analytically the stability of the perturbation equations and discuss the role of parametric resonances and nonlinear corrections. Finally, we argue that Casim…
To understand the expansion dynamics of the universe from galaxy cluster scales, using the angular diameter distance (ADD) data from two different galaxy cluster surveys, we constrain four cosmological models to explore the underlying value of $H_0$ and employ the model-independent Gaussian Processes to investigate the evolution of the equation of state of dark energy. The ADD data in the X-ray bands consists of two samples covering the redshift ranges [0.023, 0.784] and [0.14, 0.89], respectively. We find that: (i) For these two samples, the obtained values of $H_0$ are more consistent with t…
A bounce universe model with a scale-invariant and stable spectrum of primordial density perturbations was constructed using a consistent truncation of the D-brane dynamics from Type IIB string theory. A coupling was introduced between the tachyon field and the adjoint Higgs field on the D3-branes to lock the tachyon at the top of its potential hill and to model the bounce process, which is known as the Coupled Scalar and Tachyon Bounce (CSTB) Universe. The CSTB model has been shown to be ghost free, and it fulfils the null energy condition; in addition, it can also solve the Big Bang cosmic s…
In the context of a Hubble tension problem that is growing in its statistical significance, we reconsider the effectiveness of non-parametric reconstruction techniques which are independent of prescriptive cosmological models. By taking cosmic chronometers, Type Ia Supernovae and baryonic acoustic oscillation data, we compare and contrast two important reconstruction approaches, namely Gaussian processes (GP) and the \textbf{Lo}cally w\textbf{e}ighted \textbf{S}catterplot \textbf{S}moothing together with \textbf{Sim}ulation and \textbf{ex}trapolation method (LOESS-Simex or LS). In the context …
We investigate the dynamics of the perturbations of the inflaton scalar field oscillating around a minimum of its effective potential in an expanding universe. With the assumption of smallness of the ratio of the Hubble parameter to the oscillation frequency we apply the technique of separation of fast and slow motions. Considering the oscillation phase and the energy density as fast and slow variables we derive the Hill equation for the fluctuation modes in which the energy density is treated as a slowly varying parameter. We develop a general perturbative approach to solving the equations of…
The present work is based on a parametric reconstruction of the deceleration parameter $q(z)$ in a model for the spatially flat FRW universe filled with dark energy and non-relativistic matter. In cosmology, the parametric reconstruction technique deals with an attempt to build up a model by choosing some specific evolution scenario for a cosmological parameter and then estimate the values of the parameters with the help of different observational datasets. In this paper, we have proposed a logarithmic parametrization of $q(z)$ to probe the evolution history of the universe. Using the type Ia …
Since microscopic velocity diffusion can be incorporated into general relativity in a consistent way, we study cosmological background solutions when the diffusion phenomena takes place in an expanding universe. Our focus here relies on the nature of the diffusion coefficient $σ$ which measures the magnitude of such transport phenomena. We test dynamics where $σ$ has a phenomenological dependence on the scale factor, the matter density, the dark energy and the expansion rate.
We use the age measurements of 114 old astrophysical objects (OAO) in the redshift range $0\lesssim z\lesssim 8$ to explore the Hubble tension. The age of the Universe at any $z$ is inversely proportional to the Hubble constant, $H_0$, so requiring the Universe to be older than the OAO it contains at any $z$ will lead to an upper limit on $H_0$. Assuming flat $Λ$CDM and setting a Gaussian prior on the matter density parameter $Ω_{\rm m}=0.315\pm0.007$ informed by {\it Planck}, we obtain a 95\% confidence-level upper limit of $H_0<70.6 \rm{~km} \rm{~s}^{-1} \rm{~Mpc}^{-1}$, representing a $2σ$ …
We show that the parametric resonance of gravitational waves occurs due to the axion coherent oscillation and the circular polarization of gravitational waves is induced by the Chern-Simons coupling. However, we have never observed these signatures in the data of gravitational waves. Using this fact, we give stringent constraints on the Chern-Simons coupling constant $\ell$ and the abundance of the light string axion. In particular, we improved the current bound $\ell\leq10^{8}\,\,{\rm km}$ by many orders of magnitude.
For the past two hundred years, parametric instabilities have been studied in various physical systems, such as fluids, mechanical devices and even inflationary cosmology. It was not until a few decades ago that this subharmonic unstable response arose as a central mechanism for the thermalisation of the Early Universe, in a theory known as preheating. Here we study a parametrically driven two-fluid interface to simulate the key aspects of inflationary preheating dynamics through the onset of nonlinear Faraday waves. We present a detailed analysis of the effective field theory description for …
Primordial black holes (PBHs) from the early Universe have been connected with the nature of dark matter and can significantly affect cosmological history. We show that coincidence dark radiation and density fluctuation gravitational wave signatures associated with evaporation of $\lesssim10^9$ g PBHs can be used to explore and obtain important hints about the formation mechanisms of spinning and non-spinning PBHs spanning orders of magnitude in mass-range, which is challenging to do otherwise.
We study the Rényi holographic dark energy (RHDE) model by using the future and the particle horizons as the infrared (IR) cut-off. With the initial condition from the literature, most of the cosmological parameters are computed. Some of the results agree with the observation that the present universe is in accelerating expansion and in a phantom phase.
In this work, we explore the recently proposed new Tsallis agegraphic dark energy model in a flat FLRW Universe by taking the conformal time as IR cutoff with interaction. The deceleration parameter of the interacting new Tsallis agegraphic dark energy model provides the phase transition of the Universe from decelerated to accelerated phase. The EoS parameter of the model shows a rich behaviour as it can be quintessence-like or phantom-like depending on the interaction ($b^2$) and parameter $B$. The evolutionary trajectories of the statefinder parameters and $(ω_D, ω_D^{'})$ planes are plotted…
In this work we study the effects of the non-gravitational exchange energy (Q) between dark matter (DM) fluid and dark energy (DE) fluid on the background evolution of the cosmological parameters. A varying equation of state (EOS) parameter, ω, for DE is proposed. Considering an universe spatially flat, two distinct coupled models were examined to explore the main cosmological effects generated by the simultaneous reconstruction of Q and ω on the shape of the jerk parameter, j, through a slight enhancement or suppression of their amplitudes with respect to noncoupled scenarios, during its evol…
In this paper we consider the cosmological inflation within scalar-tensor gravity and compare it with standard inflation based on general relativity. The difference is determined by the value of the parameter $Δ$. This approach is associated with using the special ansatz which links a function that defines a type of gravity with a scale factor of the universe.
Rényi Holographic Dark Energy (RHDE) Models has been studied in different dimensions considering a flat FRW metric, subsequently exploring the nature of evolution of different cosmological parameters. It is seen that the number of dimensions affect the evolution of the cosmological parameters and the transition of the universe from decelerating to accelerating phase. The statefinder diagnosis has been performed and it is seen that the model corresponds to the $ΛCDM$ model for the present and future universe.
