Context: So far more than 60 substellar companions have been discovered around giant stars. These systems present physical and orbital properties that contrast to those detected orbiting less evolved stars. Aims: We are conducting a radial velocity survey of 166 bright giant stars in the southern hemisphere. The main goals of our project are to detect and characterize planets in close-in orbits around giant stars in order to study the effects of the host star evolution on their orbital and physical properties. Methods: We have obtained precision radial velocities for the giant stars HIP67851 and HIP97233 that have revealed periodic signals, which are most likely induced by the presence of substellar companions. Results: We present the discovery of a planetary system and an eccentric brown dwarf orbiting the giant stars HIP67851 and HIP97233, respectively. The inner planet around HIP67851 has a period of 88.8 days, a projected mass of 1.4 Mjup and an eccentricity of 0.09. After Kepler 91b, HIP67851b is the closest-in known planet orbiting a giant star. Although the orbit of the outer object is not fully constrained, it is likely a super-Jupiter. The brown dwarf around HIP97233 has an orbital period of 1058.8 days, a minimum mass of 20.0 Mjup and an eccentricity of 0.61. This is the most eccentric known brown dwarf around a giant star.
We present a new mechanism of generating large planetary eccentricities. This mechanism applies to planets within the inner cavities of their companion protoplanetary disks. A massive disk with an inner truncation may become eccentric due to non-adiabatic effects associated with gas cooling, and can retain its eccentricity in long-lived coherently-precessing eccentric modes; as the disk disperses, the inner planet will encounter a secular resonance with the eccentric disk when the planet and the disk have the same apsidal precession rates; the eccentricity of the planet is then excited to a la…
We examine eight known single-eccentric planetary systems in light of recently released large data archives and new analysis techniques. For four of these systems (HD 7449, HD 65216, HD 89744, HD 92788) we find evidence for additional long-period companions. HD 65216c is a Jupiter analog, with a period of 14.7 yr, $e=0.18$, and m sin $i$ of 2M_Jup, whilst the remaining candidate companions move on as-yet-incomplete orbits. Our results highlight the importance of revisiting the analysis of known exoplanetary systems when new data become available, particularly given the possibility that poorly-…
We present refined parameters for the extrasolar planetary system HAT-P-2 (also known as HD 147506), based on new radial velocity and photometric data. HAT-P-2b is a transiting extrasolar planet that exhibits an eccentric orbit. We present a detailed analysis of the planetary and stellar parameters, yielding consistent results for the mass and radius of the star, better constraints on the orbital eccentricity, and refined planetary parameters. The improved parameters for the host star are M_star = 1.36 +/- 0.04 M_sun and R_star = 1.64 +/- 0.08 R_sun, while the planet has a mass of M_p = 9.09 +…
The differential migration of two planets due to planet-disk interaction can result in capture into the 2:1 eccentricity-type mean-motion resonances. Both the sequence of 2:1 eccentricity resonances that the system is driven through by continued migration and the possibility of a subsequent capture into the 4:2 inclination resonances are sensitive to the migration rate within the range expected for type II migration. If the migration rate is fast, the resonant pair can evolve into a family of 2:1 eccentricity resonances different from those found by Lee (2004). This new family has outer orbita…
Applying the technique of dynamical maps we study the orbital stability of test particles in the Solar System in the space (a,e,i) defined by 0.1<a<38 au, 0<e<0.9 and 0<i<180 identifying the unstable and stable regions. We find stable niches where small bodies can survive even for very high eccentricities. Mean motion resonances play a fundamental role providing stability against the planetary perturbations specially for high inclination orbits. A stability stripe around i=150 is present all along the Solar System. We found that the population of objects with semimajor axes between 10 and 30 a…
Hot Jupiters are giant planets on orbits a few hundredths of an AU. They do not share their system with low-mass close-in planets, despite these latter being exceedingly common. Two migration channels for hot Jupiters have been proposed: through a protoplanetary gas disc or by tidal circularisation of highly-eccentric planets. We show that highly-eccentric giant planets that will become hot Jupiters clear out any low-mass inner planets in the system, explaining the observed lack of such companions to hot Jupiters. A less common outcome of the interaction is that the giant planet is ejected by …
Determining the orbital eccentricity of an extrasolar planet is critically important for understanding the system's dynamical environment and history. However, eccentricity is often poorly determined or entirely mischaracterized due to poor observational sampling, low signal-to-noise, and/or degeneracies with other planetary signals. Some systems previously thought to contain a single, moderate-eccentricity planet have been shown, after further monitoring, to host two planets on nearly-circular orbits. We investigate published apparent single-planet systems to see if the available data can be …
Nowadays, many extrasolar planetary systems possessing at least one planet on a highly eccentric orbit have been discovered. In this work, we study the possible long-term stability of such systems. We consider the general three body problem as our model. Highly eccentric orbits are out of the Hill stability regions. However, mean motion resonances can provide phase protection and orbits with long-term stability exist. We construct maps of dynamical stability based on the computation of chaotic indicators and we figure out regions in phase space, where the long-term stability is guaranteed. We …

Recent isotopic studies of Martian meteorites by Dauphas & Pourmond (2011) have established that large (~ 3000 km radius) planetary embryos existed in the solar nebula at the same time that chondrules - millimeter-sized igneous inclusions found in meteorites - were forming. We model the formation of chondrules by passage through bow shocks around such a planetary embryo on an eccentric orbit. We numerically model the hydrodynamics of the flow, and find that such large bodies retain an atmosphere, with Kelvin-Helmholtz instabilities allowing mixing of this atmosphere with the gas and particles …
We explore planetary migration scenarios for formation of high inclination Neptune Trojans (NTs) and how they are affected by the planetary migration of Neptune and Uranus. If Neptune and Uranus's eccentricity and inclination were damped during planetary migration, then their eccentricities and inclinations were higher prior and during migration than their current values. Using test particle integrations we study the stability of primordial NTs, objects that were initially Trojans with Neptune prior to migration. We also study Trans-Neptunian objects captured into resonance with Neptune and be…
The orbit eccentricities of the Solar System planets are unusually low compared to the average of known exoplanetary systems. A power law correlation has previously been found between the multiplicity of a planetary system and the orbital eccentricities of its components, for systems with multiplicities above two. In this study we investigate the correlation for an expanded data sample, by focusing on planetary systems as units (unlike previous studies that have focused on individual planets). Our full data sample contains 1171 exoplanets, in 895 systems, and the correlation between eccentrici…
The ubiquity of planets and diversity of planetary systems reveal planet formation encompass many complex and competing processes. In this series of papers, we develop and upgrade a population synthesis model as a tool to identify the dominant physical effects and to calibrate the range of physical conditions. Recent planet searches leads to the discovery of many multiple-planet systems. Any theoretical models of their origins must take into account dynamical interaction between emerging protoplanets. Here, we introduce a prescription to approximate the close encounters between multiple planet…
We extend the results of planetary formation synthesis by computing the long-term evolution of synthetic systems from the clearing of the gas disk into the dynamical evolution phase. We use the symplectic integrator SyMBA to numerically integrate the orbits of planets for 100 Ma, using populations from previous studies as initial conditions. We show that within the populations studied, mass and semi-major axis distributions experience only minor changes from post-formation evolution. We also show that, depending upon their initial distribution, planetary eccentricities can statistically increas…
Aim. The eccentric von Zeipel-Lidov-Kozai (ZLK) effect is widely used to explain dynamical phenomena in varieties of astrophysical systems. The purpose of this work is to make clear the dynamical essence of the eccentric ZLK effect by constructing an inherent connection between such an effect and dynamics of secular resonance in restricted hierarchical planetary systems. Methods. Dynamical structures of apsidal resonance are analytically studied by means of perturbative treatments. The resonant model is formulated by averaging the Hamiltonian (up to octupole order) over rotating ZLK cycles, pr…

Orbital eccentricity is one of the basic planetary properties, whose distribution may shed light on the history of planet formation and evolution. Here, in a series of works on Planetary Orbit Eccentricity Trends (dubbed POET), we study the distribution of planetary eccentricities and their dependence on stellar/planetary properties. In this paper, the first work of the POET series, we investigate whether and how the eccentricities of small planets depend on stellar metallicities (e.g., [Fe/H]). Previous studies on giant planets have found a significant correlation between planetary eccentrici…
Hot Jupiters (HJs) are giant planets with orbital periods of the order of a few days with semimajor axis within $\sim$0.1 au. Several theories have been invoked in order to explain the origin of this type of planets, one of them being the high-eccentricity migration. This migration can occur through different high-eccentricity mechanisms. Our investigation focused on six different kinds of high-eccentricity mechanisms, namely, direct dispersion, coplanar, Kozai-Lidov, secular chaos, E1 and E2 mechanisms. We investigated the efficiency of these mechanisms for the production of HJ candidates in …
We report the discovery of a long-period brown-dwarf transiting companion of the solar-type star KOI-415. The transits were detected by the Kepler space telescope. We conducted Doppler measurements using the SOPHIE spectrograph at the Observatoire de Haute-Provence. The photometric and spectroscopic signals allow us to characterize a 62.14+-2.69 Mjup, brown-dwarf companion of an evolved 0.94+-0.06 Msun star in a highly eccentric orbit of P = 166.78805+-0.00022 days and e = 0.698+-0.002. The radius of KOI-415 b is 0.79 (-0.07,+0.12) Rjup, a value that is compatible with theoretical predictions …
Although our solar system features predominantly circular orbits, the exoplanets discovered so far indicate that this is the exception rather than the rule. This could have crucial consequences for exoplanet climates, both because eccentric terrestrial exoplanets could have extreme seasonal variation, and because giant planets on eccentric orbits could excite Milankovitch-like variations of a potentially habitable terrestrial planet,Äôs eccentricity, on timescales of thousands-to-millions of years. A particularly interesting implication concerns the fact that the Earth is thought to have gone …
Context: Several studies have so far placed useful constraints on planetary atmospheric properties using transmission spectrsocopy, and in the case of HD209458b even the radial velocity of the planet during the transit event has been reconstructed opening a new range of possibilities. AIMS. In this contribution we highlight the importance to account for the orbital eccentricity and longitude of periastron of the planetary orbit to accurately interpret the measured planetary radial velocity during the transit. Methods: We calculate the radial velocity of a transiting planet in an eccentric orbi…
Planets around binary stars and those in multiplanet systems may experience resonant eccentricity excitation and disruption due to perturbations from a distant stellar companion. This "evection resonance" occurs when the apsidal precession frequency of the planet, driven by the quadrupole associated with the inner binary or the other planets, matches the orbital frequency of the external companion. We develop an analytic theory to study the effects of evection resonance on circumbinary planets and multiplanet systems. We derive the general conditions for effective eccentricity excitation or re…
It is well known that asteroids and comets fall into the Sun. Metal pollution of white dwarfs and transient spectroscopic signatures of young stars like $β$-Pic provide growing evidence that extra solar planetesimals can attain extreme orbital eccentricities and fall onto their parent stars. We aim to develop a general, practically implementable, semi-analytical theory of secular eccentricity excitation of small bodies in mean motion resonances with an eccentric planet valid for arbitrary values of the eccentricities and including the short-range force due to General Relativity. Our semi-analy…
We present the results of high resolution 2D simulations of low mass planets on fixed eccentric orbits embedded in protoplanetary discs. The aim of this study is to determine how the strength of the sustained, non-linear corotation torque experienced by embedded planets varies as a function of orbital eccentricity, disc parameters, and planetary mass. In agreement with previous work we find that the corotation torque diminishes as orbital eccentricity, $e$, increases. Analysis of the time-averaged streamlines in the disc demonstrates that the width of the horseshoe region narrows as the eccent…
We report the discovery and the analysis of the short timescale binary-lens microlensing event, MOA-2015-BLG-337. The lens system could be a planetary system with a very low mass host, around the brown dwarf/planetary mass boundary, or a brown dwarf binary. We found two competing models that explain the observed light curves with companion/host mass ratios of q~0.01 and ~0.17, respectively. From the measurement of finite source effects in the best-fit planetary model, we find a relatively small angular Einstein radius of theta_E ~ 0.03 mas which favors a low mass lens. We conduct a Bayesian an…
Exoplanets discovered over the last decades have provided a new sample of giant exoplanets, hot Jupiters. For lack of enough materials in current locations of hot Jupiters, they are perceived to form outside snowline. Then, migrate to the locations observed through interactions with gas disks or high-eccentricity mechanisms. We examined the efficiencies of different high-eccentricity mechanisms to form hot Jupiters in near coplaner multi-planet systems. These mechanisms include planet-planet scattering, Kozai-Lidov mechanism, coplanar high-eccentricity migration, secular chaos, as well as othe…
The angular momentum deficit (AMD) of a planetary system is a measure of its orbital excitation and a predictor of long-term stability. We adopt the AMD-stability criteria to constrain the orbital architectures for exoplanetary systems. Previously, He, Ford, & Ragozzine (2019) (arXiv:1907.07773v2) showed through forward modelling (SysSim) that the observed multiplicity distribution can be well reproduced by two populations consisting of a low and a high mutual inclination component. Here, we show that a broad distribution of mutual inclinations arising from systems at the AMD-stability limit c…
Kozai-Lidov oscillations of Jupiter-mass planets, excited by comparable planetary or brown dwarf mass perturbers were recently shown in numerical experiments to be slowly modulated and to exhibit striking features, including extremely high eccentricities and the generation of retrograde orbits with respect to the perturber. Here we solve this problem analytically for the case of a test particle orbiting a host star and perturbed by a distant companion whose orbit is eccentric and highly inclined. We give analytic expressions for the conditions that produce retrograde orbits and high eccentrici…
We investigate the pebble isolation mass for a planet on a fixed eccentric orbit in its protoplanetary disc by conducting a set of 2D hydrodynamical simulations including dust turbulent diffusion. A range of planet eccentricities up to $e=0.2$ is adopted. Our simulations also cover a range of $α-$turbulent viscosities, and for each pair $\{α,e\}$ the pebble isolation mass is estimated as the minimum planet mass in our simulations such that solids with a Stokes number $\gtrsim 0.05$ do not flow across the planet orbit and remain trapped around a pressure bump outside the planet gap. For $α<10^{…
The late-stage formation of giant planetary systems is rich in interesting dynamical mechanisms. Previous simulations of three giant planets initially on quasi-circular and quasi-coplanar orbits in the gas disc have shown that highly mutually inclined configurations can be formed, despite the strong eccentricity and inclination damping exerted by the disc. Much attention has been directed to inclination-type resonance, asking for large eccentricities to be acquired during the migration of the planets. Here we show that inclination excitation is also present at small to moderate eccentricities …
Inferring planetary parameters from transit timing variations is challenging for small exoplanets because their transits may be so weak that determination of individual transit timing is difficult or impossible. We implement a useful combination of tools which together provide a numerically fast global photodynamical model. This is used to fit the TTV-bearing light-curve, in order to constrain the masses of transiting exoplanets in low eccentricity, multi-planet systems - and small planets in particular. We present inferred dynamical masses and orbital eccentricities in four multi-planet syste…
Orbital mean motion resonances in planetary systems originate from dissipative processes in disk-planet interactions that lead to orbital migration. In multi-planet systems that host giant planets, the perturbation of the protoplanetary disk strongly affects the migration of companion planets. By studying the well-characterized resonant planetary system around GJ 876 we aim to explore which effects shape disk-driven migration in such a multi-planet system to form resonant chains. We modelled the orbital migration of three planets embedded in a protoplanetary disk using two-dimensional locally …
With an average eccentricity of about 0.29, the eccentricity distribution of extrasolar planets is markedly different from the solar system. Among other scenarios considered, it has been proposed that eccentricity may grow through planet-disc interaction. Recently, it has been noticed that the thermodynamical state of the disc can significantly influence the migration properties of growing protoplanets. However, the evolution of planetary eccentricity in radiative discs has not been considered yet. In this paper we study the evolution of planets on eccentric orbits that are embedded in a three…
The orbital eccentricities of directly imaged exoplanets and brown dwarf companions provide clues about their formation and dynamical histories. We combine new high-contrast imaging observations of substellar companions obtained primarily with Keck/NIRC2 together with astrometry from the literature to test for differences in the population-level eccentricity distributions of 27 long-period giant planets and brown dwarf companions between 5-100 AU using hierarchical Bayesian modeling. Orbit fits are performed in a uniform manner for companions with short orbital arcs; this typically results in …
Structures observed in debris disks may be caused by gravitational interaction with planetary or stellar companions. These perturbed disks are often thought to indicate the presence of planets and offer insights into the properties of both the disk and the perturbing planets. Gaps in debris disks may indicate a planet physically present within the gap, but such gaps can also occur away from the planet's orbit at mean-motion resonances (MMRs), and this is the focus of our interest here. We extend our study of planet-disk interaction through MMRs, presented in an earlier paper, to systems in whi…
Measuring precise planet masses, densities, and orbital dynamics in individual planetary systems is an important pathway toward understanding planet formation. The WASP-47 system has an unusual architecture that motivates a complex formation theory. The system includes a hot Jupiter ("b") neighbored by interior ("e") and exterior ("d") sub-Neptunes, and a long-period eccentric giant planet ("c"). We simultaneously modeled transit times from the Kepler K2 Mission and 118 radial velocities to determine precise masses, densities, and Keplerian orbital elements of the WASP-47 planets. Combining RV…
A significant fraction of white dwarfs (WDs) are observed to be polluted with metals despite high surface gravities and short settling times. The current theoretical model for this pollution is accretion of rocky bodies delivered to the WD through perturbations by orbiting planets. Using N-body simulations, we examine the possibility of a single planet as the source of pollution. We determine the stability of test particles on circular orbits in systems with a single planet located at 4 au for a range of masses and eccentricities, comparing the fractions that are ejected and accreted. In parti…
The long-term habitability of Earth-like planets requires low orbital eccentricities. A secular perturbation from a distant stellar companion is a very important mechanism in exciting planetary eccentricities, as many of the extrasolar planetary systems are associated with stellar companions. Although the orbital evolution of an Earth-like planet in a stellar binary is well understood, the effect of a binary perturbation to a more realistic system containing additional gas giant planets has been very little studied. Here we provide analytic criteria confirmed by a large ensemble of numerical i…
We perform numerical simulations to investigate tidal evolution of two single-planet systems, that is, WASP-50 and GJ 1214 and a two-planet system CoRoT-7. The results of orbital evolution show that tidal decay and circularization may play a significant role in shaping their final orbits, which is related to the initial orbital data in the simulations. For GJ 1214 system, different cases of initial eccentricity are also considered as only an upper limit of its eccentricity (0.27) is shown, and the outcome suggests a possible maximum initial eccentricity (0.4) in the adopted dynamical model. Mo…
Recent discoveries of strongly misaligned transiting exoplanets pose a challenge to the established planet formation theory which assumes planetary systems to form and evolve in isolation. However, the fact that the majority of stars actually do form in star clusters raises the question how isolated forming planetary systems really are. Besides radiative and tidal forces the presence of dense gas aggregates in star-forming regions are potential sources for perturbations to protoplanetary discs or systems. Here we show that subsequent capture of gas from large extended accretion envelopes onto …
We present 63 new multi-site radial velocity measurements of the K1III giant HD 76920, which was recently reported to host the most eccentric planet known to orbit an evolved star. We focussed our observational efforts on the time around the predicted periastron passage and achieved near-continuous phase coverage of the corresponding radial velocity peak. By combining our radial velocity measurements from four different instruments with previously published ones, we confirm the highly eccentric nature of the system, and find an even higher eccentricity of $e=0.8782 \pm 0.0025$, an orbital peri…
During the late stage of planet formation when Mars-size cores appear, interactions among planetary cores can excite their orbital eccentricities, speed their merges and thus sculpture the final architecture of planet systems. This series of work contributes to the final assembling of planet systems with N-body simulations, including the type I and II migration of planets, gas accretion of massive cores in a viscous disk. In this paper, the standard formulations of type I and II migrations are adopted to investigate the formation of planet systems around solar mass stars. Statistics on the fin…
Being the first of its kind, the white dwarf WD 1145+017 exhibits a complex system of disintegrating debris which offers a unique opportunity to study its disruption process in real time. Even with plenty of transit observations there are no clear constraints on the masses or eccentricities of such debris. Using $N$-body simulations we show that masses greater than approximately $10^{20}$ kg (a tenth of the mass of Ceres) or orbits that are not nearly circular ($\mathrm{eccentricity}>10^{-3}$) dramatically increase the chances of the system becoming unstable within two years, which would contr…
The interaction between a planet located in the inner region of a disc and the warped outer region is studied. We consider the stage of evolution after the planet has cleared-out a gap, so that the planetary orbit evolves only under the gravitational potential from the disc. We develop a secular analysis and compute the evolution of the orbital elements by solving Lagrange's equations valid to second order in the eccentricity. We also perform numerical simulations with the full disc potential. In general, the interaction between the disc and the planet leads to the precession of the orbit. The…
All circumbinary planets currently detected are in orbits that are almost coplanar to the binary orbit. While misaligned circumbinary planets are more difficult to detect, observations of polar aligned circumbinary gas and debris disks around eccentric binaries suggest that polar planet formation may be possible. A polar aligned planet has a stable orbit that is inclined by 90 degrees to the orbital plane of the binary with an angular momentum vector that is aligned to the binary eccentricity vector. With n- body simulations we model polar terrestrial planet formation using hydrodynamic gas di…
A new off-shelf low-cost echelle spectrograph was installed recently on the 0.6m telescope at the Stará Lesná Observatory (Slovakia). In this paper we describe in details the radial velocity (RV) analysis of the first three transiting planetary systems, HAT-P-2, WASP-14 and XO-3, observed with this instrument. Furthermore, we compare our data with the RV data achieved with echelle spectrographs of other sub-meter-, meter- and two-meter-class telescopes in terms of their precision. Finally, we investigate the applicability of our RV data for modeling orbital parameters.
The first discovered extrasolar worlds -- giant, ``hot Jupiter'' planets on short-period orbits -- came as a surprise to solar-system-centric models of planet formation, prompting the development of new theories for planetary system evolution. The near-absence of observed nearby planetary companions to hot Jupiters has been widely quoted as evidence in support of high-eccentricity tidal migration: a framework in which hot Jupiters form further out in their natal protoplanetary disks before being thrown inward with extremely high eccentricities, stripping systems of any close-in planetary compa…
Accordling to the theory of Kozai resonance, the initial mutual inclination between a small body and a massive planet in an outer circular orbit is as high as $\sim39.2^{\circ}$ for pumping the eccentricity of the inner small body. Here we show that, with the presence of a residual gas disk outside two planetary orbits, the inclination can be reduced as low as a few degrees. The presence of disk changes the nodal precession rates and directions of the planet orbits. At the place where the two planets achieve the same nodal processing rate, vertical secular resonance would occur so that mutual …
Many observed giant planets lie on eccentric orbits. Such orbits could be the result of strong scatterings with other giant planets. The same dynamical instability that produces these scatterings may also cause habitable planets in interior orbits to become ejected, destroyed, or be transported out of the habitable zone. We say that a habitable planet has resilient habitability if it is able to avoid ejections and collisions and its orbit remains inside the habitable zone. Here we model the orbital evolution of rocky planets in planetary systems where giant planets become dynamically unstable.…
Imaging companions to main-sequence stars often allows to detect a projected orbital motion. MCMC has become very popular in for fitting their orbits. Some of these companions appear to move on very eccentric, possibly unbound orbits. This is the case for the exoplanet Fomalhaut b and the brown dwarf companion PZ Tel B. For such orbits, standard MCMC codes assuming only bound orbits may be inappropriate. We develop a new MCMC implementation able to handle bound and unbound orbits as well in a continuous manner, and we apply it to the cases of Fomalhaut b and PZ Tel B. This code is based on uni…
The formation of planets in compact or highly eccentric binaries and the migration of hot Jupiters are two outstanding problems in planet formation. The hot Jupiter $τ$ Boo Ab orbits the primary star in the long-period ($P \gtrsim 1000\,$yr), highly eccentric ($e \sim 0.9$) binary $τ$ Boötis. Due to the long orbital period, the orbit of the stellar binary is poorly constrained. Here we aim to constrain the orbit of the stellar binary $τ$ Boo AB in order to investigate the formation and migration history of the system. The mutual orbital inclination of the stellar companion and the hot Jupiter …
25%-50% of all white dwarfs (WDs) host observable and dynamically active remnant planetary systems based on the presence of close-in circumstellar dust and gas and photospheric metal pollution. Currently-accepted theoretical explanations for the origin of this matter include asteroids that survive the star's giant branch evolution at au-scale distances and are subsequently perturbed onto WD-grazing orbits following stellar mass loss. In this work we investigate the tidal disruption of these highly-eccentric (e > 0.98) asteroids as they approach and tidally disrupt around the WD. We analyticall…
We report the discovery of a $M=67\pm2~\mathrm{M_J}$ brown dwarf transiting the early M dwarf TOI-2119 on an eccentric orbit ($e=0.3362 \pm 0.0005$) at an orbital period of $7.200861 \pm 0.000005$ days. We confirm the brown dwarf nature of the transiting companion using a combination of ground-based and space-based photometry and high-precision velocimetry from the Habitable-zone Planet Finder. Detection of the secondary eclipse with TESS photometry enables a precise determination of the eccentricity and reveals the brown dwarf has a brightness temperature of $2100\pm80$ K, a value which is co…
