We construct self similar finite energy solutions to the slightly super-critical generalized KdV equation. These self similar solutions bifurcate as a function of the exponent $p$ from the soliton at the $L^2$ critical exponent.
In this paper we consider the slightly $L^2$-supercritical gKdV equations $\partial_t u+(u_{xx}+u|u|^{p-1})_x=0$, with the nonlinearity $5<p<5+\varepsilon$ and $0<\varepsilon\ll 1$ . In the previous work of the author we know that there exists an stable self-similar blow-up dynamics for slightly $L^2$-supercritical gKdV equations. Such solution can be viewed as solutions with single blow-up point. In this paper we will prove the existence of solutions with multiple blow-up points, and give a description of the formation of the singularity near the blow-up time.
We consider the generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation in the supercritical case, and we are interested in solutions which converge to a soliton in large time in H^1. In the subcritical case, such solutions are forced to be exactly solitons by variational characterization, but no such result exists in the supercritical case. In this paper, we first construct a "special solution" in this case by a compactness argument, i.e. a solution which converges to a soliton without being a soliton. Secondly, using a description of the spectrum of the linearized operator around a soliton due to Pego and We…
We consider the following class of equations of (gKdV) type $$\partial_t u + \partial_x (\partial_x^2 u + |u|^{p-1}u) = 0, \quad p\mbox{ integer},\quad t,x \in \mathbb{R}$$ with mass sub-critical ($2< p<5$) and mass super-critical nonlinearities ($p> 5$). We prove the existence of 2-solitary wave solutions with logarithmic relative distance, i.e. solutions $u(t)$ satisfying \[\left\|u(t)- \bigg( Q (\cdot - t - \log (ct)) + σQ (\cdot - t + \log (ct))\bigg)\right\|_{H^1}\to 0 \ \ \mbox{as} \ \ t\to +\infty,\] where $c=c(p)> 0$ is a fixed constant, $σ= -1$ in sub-critical cases and $σ= 1$ in supe…

In this paper we consider the slightly $L^2$-supercritical gKdV equations $\partial_t u+(u_{xx}+u|u|^{p-1})_x=0$, with the nonlinearity $5<p<5+\varepsilon$ and $0<\varepsilon\ll 1$ . We will prove the existence and stability of a blow-up dynamic with self-similar blow-up rate in the energy space $H^1$ and give a specific description of the formation of the singularity near the blow-up time.
In this paper, we consider the $L^2$ critical gKdV equation with a saturated perturbation: $\partial_t u+(u_{xx}+u^5-γu|u|^{q-1})_x=0$, where $q>5$ and $0<γ\ll1$. For any initial data $u_0\in H^1$, the corresponding solution is always global and bounded in $H^1$. This equation has a family of solitons, and our goal is to classify the dynamics near soliton. Together with a suitable decay assumption, there are only three possibilities: (i) the solution converges asymptotically to a solitary wave, whose $H^1$ norm is of size $γ^{-2/(q-1)}$, as $γ\rightarrow0$; (ii) the solution is always in a sma…
We consider the generalized Korteweg-de Vries (gKdV) equation $\partial_t u+\partial_x^3u+μ\partial_x(u^{k+1})=0$, where $k\geq5$ is an integer number and $μ=\pm1$. In the focusing case ($μ=1$), we show that if the initial data $u_0$ belongs to $H^1(\R)$ and satisfies $E(u_0)^{s_k} M(u_0)^{1-s_k} < E(Q)^{s_k} M(Q)^{1-s_k}$, $E(u_0)\geq0$, and $\|\partial_x u_0\|_{L^2}^{s_k}\|u_0\|_{L^2}^{1-s_k} < \|\partial_x Q\|_{L^2}^{s_k}\|Q\|_{L^2}^{1-s_k}$, where $M(u)$ and $E(u)$ are the mass and energy, then the corresponding solution is global in $H^1(\R)$. Here, $s_k=\frac{(k-4)}{2k}$ and $Q$ is the g…
We consider the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equations $i\partial_t u+Δu +u|u|^{p-1}=0$ in dimension $1\leq N\leq 5$ and for slightly $L^2$ supercritical nonlinearities $p_c<p<(1+\e)p_c$ with $p_c=1+\frac{4}{N}$ and $0<\e\ll 1$. We prove the existence and stability in the energy space $H^1$ of a self similar finite time blow up dynamics and provide a qualitative description of the singularity formation near the blow up time
This paper is devoted to global well-posedness, self-similarity and symmetries of solutions for a superdiffusive heat equation with superlinear and gradient nonlinear terms with initial data in new homogeneous Besov-Morrey type spaces. Unlike the heat equation, we need to develop an appropriate decomposition of the two-parametric Mittag-Leffler function in order to obtain Mikhlin-type estimates get our well-posedness theorem. To the best of our knowledge, the present work is the first one concerned with a well-posedness theory for a time-fractional partial differential equations of order $α\in…
We construct radially symmetric self-similar blow-up profiles for the mass supercritical nonlinear Schrödinger equation $i\partial_t u + Δu + |u|^{p-1}u=0$ on $\mathbf{R}^d$, close to the mass critical case and for any space dimension $d\ge 1$. These profiles bifurcate from the ground state solitary wave. The argument relies on the classical matched asymptotics method suggested in [Sulem, C.; Sulem, P.-L., The nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Self-focusing and wave collapse. Applied Mathematical Sciences, 139. Springer-Verlag, New York, 1999] which needs to be applied in a degenerate case due t…
In this paper, we prove the existence of a countable family of regular spherically symmetric self-similar solutions to focusing energy super-critical semi-linear wave equations \begin{equation*} \partial_{tt}u-Δu=|u|^{p-1}u \qquad \text{in} \,\, \mathbb{R}^{N}, \end{equation*} where $N\geq 3$, $1+\frac{4}{N-2}<p$, and, if $N\geq 4$, $p \leq 1+\frac{4}{N-3}$. This was previously known only in the case $N=3$, for integer $p$ (see Bizoń, Maison and Wasserman \cite{BMW}). We also study the asymptotics of these solutions.
We consider the Cauchy problem for an energy supercritical nonlinear wave equation that arises in $(1+5)$--dimensional Yang--Mills theory. A certain self--similar solution $W_0$ of this model is conjectured to act as an attractor for generic large data evolutions. Assuming mode stability of $W_0$, we prove a weak version of this conjecture, namely that the self--similar solution $W_0$ is (nonlinearly) stable. Phrased differently, we prove that mode stability of $W_0$ implies its nonlinear stability. The fact that this statement is not vacuous follows from careful numerical work by Bizoń and Ch…
We consider the heat flow of corotational harmonic maps from $\mathbb R^3$ to the three-sphere and prove the nonlinear asymptotic stability of a particular self-similar shrinker that is not known in closed form. Our method provides a novel, systematic, robust, and constructive approach to the stability analysis of self-similar blowup in parabolic evolution equations. In particular, we completely avoid using delicate Lyapunov functionals, monotonicity formulas, indirect arguments, or fragile parabolic structure like the maximum principle. As a matter of fact, our approach reduces the nonlinear …
We prove the existence of a (spectrally) stable self-similar blow-up solution $f_0$ to the heat flow for corotational harmonic maps from $\mathbb R^3$ to the three-sphere. In particular, our result verifies the spectral gap conjecture stated by one of the authors and lays the groundwork for the proof of the nonlinear stability of $f_0$. At the heart of our analysis lies a new existence result of a monotone self-similar solution $f_0$. Although solutions of this kind have already been constructed before, our approach reveals substantial quantitative properties of $f_0$, leading to the stability…
We consider an explicit self-similar solution to an energy-supercritical Yang-Mills equation and prove its mode stability. Based on earlier work by one of the authors, we obtain a fully rigorous proof of the nonlinear stability of the self-similar blowup profile. This is a large-data result for a supercritical wave equation. Our method is broadly applicable and provides a general approach to stability problems related to self-similar solutions of nonlinear wave equations.
