The critical curves of the q-state Potts model can be determined exactly for regular two-dimensional lattices G that are of the three-terminal type. Jacobsen and Scullard have defined a graph polynomial P_B(q,v) that gives access to the critical manifold for general lattices. It depends on a finite repeating part of the lattice, called the basis B, and its real roots in the temperature variable v = e^K - 1 provide increasingly accurate approximations to the critical manifolds upon increasing the size of B. These authors computed P_B(q,v) for large bases (up to 243 edges), obtaining determinations of the ferromagnetic critical point v_c > 0 for the (4,8^2), kagome, and (3,12^2) lattices to a precision (of the order 10^{-8}) slightly superior to that of the best available Monte Carlo simulations.
In this paper we describe a more efficient transfer matrix approach to the computation of P_B(q,v) that relies on a formulation within the periodic Temperley-Lieb algebra. This makes possible computations for substantially larger bases (up to 882 edges), and the precision on v_c is hence taken to the range 10^{-13}. We further show that a large variety of regular lattices can be cast in a form suitable for this approach. This includes all Archimedean lattices, their duals and their medials. For all these lattices we tabulate high-precision estimates of the bond percolation thresholds p_c and Potts critical points v_c. We also trace and discuss the full Potts critical manifold in the (q,v) plane, paying special attention to the antiferromagnetic region v < 0. Finally, we adapt the technique to site percolation as well, and compute the polynomials P_B(p) for certain Archimedean and dual lattices (those having only cubic and quartic vertices), using very large bases (up to 243 vertices). This produces the site percolation thresholds p_c to a precision of the order 10^{-9}.
We consider the Potts model and the related bond, site, and mixed site-bond percolation problems on triangular-type and kagome-type lattices, and derive closed-form expressions for the critical frontier. For triangular-type lattices the critical frontier is known, usually derived from a duality consideration in conjunction with the assumption of a unique transition. Our analysis, however, is rigorous and based on an established result without the need of a uniqueness assumption, thus firmly establishing all derived results. For kagome-type lattices the exact critical frontier is not known. We …
We obtain the critical threshold for a host of Potts and percolation models on lattices having a structure which permits a duality consideration. The consideration generalizes the recently obtained thresholds of Scullard and Ziff for bond and site percolation on the martini and related lattices to the Potts model and to other lattices.
We prove that the q-states Potts model on graph is spontaneously magnetized at finite temperature if and only if the graph presents percolation on the average. Percolation on the average is a combinatorial problem defined by averaging over all the sites of the graph the probability of belonging to a cluster of a given size. In the paper we obtain an inequality between this average probability and the average magnetization, which is a typical extensive function describing the thermodynamic behaviour of the model.
The percolation of Potts spins with equal values in Potts model on graphs (networks) is considered. The general method for finding the Potts clusters size distributions is developed. It allows for full description of percolation transition when giant cluster of equal-valued Potts spins appears. The method is applied to the short-ranged q-state ferromagnetic Potts model on the Bethe lattices with the arbitrary coordination number z. The analytical results for the field-temperature percolation phase diagram of geometric spin clusters and their size distribution are obtained. The last appears to …
We give the exact critical frontier of the Potts model on bowtie lattices. For the case of $q=1$, the critical frontier yields the thresholds of bond percolation on these lattices, which are exactly consistent with the results given by Ziff et al [J. Phys. A 39, 15083 (2006)]. For the $q=2$ Potts model on the bowtie-A lattice, the critical point is in agreement with that of the Ising model on this lattice, which has been exactly solved. Furthermore, we do extensive Monte Carlo simulations of Potts model on the bowtie-A lattice with noninteger $q$. Our numerical results, which are accurate up t…
We use scale invariant scattering theory to exactly determine the renormalization group fixed points of a $q$-state Potts model coupled to an $r$-state Potts model in two dimensions. For integer values of $q$ and $r$ the fixed point equations are very constraining and show in particular that scale invariance in coupled Potts ferromagnets is limited to the Ashkin-Teller case ($q=r=2$). Since our results extend to continuous values of the number of states, we can access the limit $r\to 1$ corresponding to correlated percolation, and show that the critical properties of Potts spin clusters cannot…
We present results for the high-temperature series expansions of the susceptibility and free energy of the $q$-state Potts model on a $D$-dimensional hypercubic lattice $\mathbb{Z}^D$ for arbitrary values of $q$. The series are up to order 20 for dimension $D\leq3$, order 19 for $D\leq 5$ and up to order 17 for arbitrary $D$. Using the $q\to 1$ limit of these series, we estimate the percolation threshold $p_c$ and critical exponent $γ$ for bond percolation in different dimensions. We also extend the 1/D expansion of the critical coupling for arbitrary values of $q$ up to order $D^{-9}$.
We consider a Potts model diluted by fully frustrated Ising spins. The model corresponds to a fully frustrated Potts model with variables having an integer absolute value and a sign. This model presents precursor phenomena of a glass transition in the high-temperature region. We show that the onset of these phenomena can be related to a thermodynamic transition. Furthermore this transition can be mapped onto a percolation transition. We numerically study the phase diagram in 2 dimensions (2D) for this model with frustration and {\em without} disorder and we compare it to the phase diagram of $…
We provide a detailed analysis of the correlation length in the direction parallel to a line of modified coupling constants in the ferromagnetic Potts model on $\mathbb{Z}^d$ at temperatures $T>T_c$. We also describe how a line of weakened bonds pins the interface of the Potts model on $\mathbb{Z}^2$ below its critical temperature. These results are obtained by extending the analysis by Friedli, Ioffe and Velenik from Bernoulli percolation to FK-percolation of arbitrary parameter $q>1$.
We study a statistical mechanics model of a solid. Neighboring atoms are connected by Hookian springs. If the energy is larger than a threshold the "spring" is more likely to fail, while if the energy is lower than the threshold the spring is more likely to be alive. The phase diagram and thermodynamic quantities, such as free energy, numbers of bonds and clusters, and their fluctuations, are determined using renormalization-group and Monte-Carlo techniques.
We expand the Potts-percolation model of a solid to include stress and strain. Neighboring atoms are connected by bonds. We set the energy of a bond to be given by the Lennard-Jones potential. If the energy is larger than a threshold the bond is more likely to fail, while if the energy is lower than the threshold the bond is more likely to be alive. In two dimensions we compute the equation of state: stress as function of inter-atomic distance and temperature by using renormalization group and Monte Carlo simulations. The phase diagram, the equation of state, the isothermal modulus and the the…
It was pointed out by de Arcangelis et al. [Europhys. Lett. 14 (1991), 515] that the correct understanding of the percolation phenomenon of the Fortuin-Kasteleyn cluster in the Edwards-Anderson model is important since a dynamical transition, which is characterized by a parameter called the Hamming distance or damage, and the percolation transition are related to a transition for a signal propagating between spins. We show analytically the percolation thresholds of the Fortuin-Kasteleyn cluster for a Potts gauge glass model, which is an extended model of the Edwards-Anderson model, on random g…
Although it has long been known that the proper quantum field theory description of critical percolation involves a logarithmic conformal field theory (LCFT), no direct consequence of this has been observed so far. Representing critical bond percolation as the Q = 1 limit of the Q-state Potts model, and analyzing the underlying S_Q symmetry of the Potts spins, we identify a class of simple observables whose two-point functions scale logarithmically for Q = 1. The logarithm originates from the mixing of the energy operator with a logarithmic partner that we identify as the field that creates tw…
We present a numerical study of the self-affine profiles obtained from configurations of the q-state Potts (with q=2,3 and 7) and p=10 clock models as well as from the occupation states for site-percolation on the square lattice. The first and second order static phase transitions of the Potts model are located by a sharp change in the value of the roughness exponent $α$ characterizing those profiles. The low temperature phase of the Potts model corresponds to flat ($α\simeq 1$) profiles, whereas its high temperature phase is associated to rough ($α\simeq 0.5$) ones. For the p=10 clock model, …
For the $q-$state Potts model new order parameters projecting on a group of spins instead of a single spin are introduced. On a Cayley tree this allows the physical interpretation of the Potts model at noninteger values q of the number of states. The model can be solved recursively. This recursion exhibits chaotic behaviour changing qualitatively at critical values of $q_0$ . Using an additional order parameter belonging to a group of zero extrapolated size the additional ordering is related to a percolation problem. This percolation distinguishes different phases and explains the critical ind…
We extend the model of a 2$d$ solid to include a line of defects. Neighboring atoms on the defect line are connected by ?springs? of different strength and different cohesive energy with respect to the rest of the system. Using the Migdal-Kadanoff renormalization group we show that the elastic energy is an irrelevant field at the bulk critical point. For zero elastic energy this model reduces to the Potts model. By using Monte Carlo simulations of the 3- and 4-state Potts model on a square lattice with a line of defects, we confirm the renormalization-group prediction that for a defect interac…
In previous work with Scullard, we defined a graph polynomial P_B(q,T) that gives access to the critical temperature T_c of the q-state Potts model on a general two-dimensional lattice L. It depends on a basis B, containing n x m unit cells of L, and the relevant root of P_B(q,T) was observed to converge quickly to T_c in the limit n,m to infinity. Moreover, in exactly solvable cases there is no finite-size dependence at all. We reformulate this method as an eigenvalue problem within the periodic Temperley-Lieb algebra. This corresponds to taking m to infinity first, so the bases B are semi-in…
We present study of finite-size scaling and universality of crossing probabilities for the $q$-state Potts model. Crossing probabilities of the Potts model are similar ones in percolation problem. We numerically investigated scaling of $π_{s}$ - the probability of a system to percolate only in one direction for two-dimensional site percolation, the Ising model, and the q-state Potts model for $q=3,4,5,6,8,10$. We found the thermal scaling index $y= \frac{1}ν$ for $q<4$. In contrast, $y \ne \frac{1}ν$ for $q=4$.
The high-temperature susceptibility of the $q$-state Potts model behaves as $Γ|T-T_c|^{-γ}$ as $T\to T_c+$, while for $T\to T_c-$ one may define both longitudinal and transverse susceptibilities, with the same power law but different amplitudes $Γ_L$ and $Γ_T$. We extend a previous analytic calculation of the universal ratio $Γ/Γ_L$ in two dimensions to the low-temperature ratio $Γ_T/Γ_L$, and test both predictions with Monte Carlo simulations for $q=3$ and 4. The data for $q=4$ are inconclusive owing to large corrections to scaling, while for $q=3$ they appear consistent with the prediction f…
In a recent paper (arXiv:0911.2514), one of us (FYW) considered the Potts model and bond and site percolation on two general classes of two-dimensional lattices, the triangular-type and kagome-type lattices, and obtained closed-form expressions for the critical frontier with applications to various lattice models. For the triangular-type lattices Wu's result is exact, and for the kagome-type lattices Wu's expression is under a homogeneity assumption. The purpose of the present paper is two-fold: First, an essential step in Wu's analysis is the derivation of lattice-dependent constants $A, B, C…
The invaded cluster approach is extended to 2D Potts model with annealed vacancies by using the random-cluster representation. Geometrical arguments are used to propose the algorithm which converges to the tricritical point in the two-dimensional parameter space spanned by temperature and the chemical potential of vacancies. The tricritical point is identified as a simultaneous onset of the percolation of a Fortuin-Kasteleyn cluster and of a percolation of "geometrical disorder cluster". The location of the tricritical point and the concentration of vacancies for q = 1, 2, 3 are found to be in…
We study four-point functions of critical percolation in two dimensions, and more generally of the Potts model. We propose an exact ansatz for the spectrum: an infinite, discrete and non-diagonal combination of representations of the Virasoro algebra. Based on this ansatz, we compute four-point functions using a numerical conformal bootstrap approach. The results agree with Monte-Carlo computations of connectivities of random clusters.
We argue the exact universal result for the three-point connectivity of critical percolation in two dimensions. Predictions for Potts clusters and for the scaling limit below p_c are also given.
In a recent paper hep-lat/9704020 we investigated Potts models on ``thin'' random graphs -- generic Feynman diagrams, using the idea that such models may be expressed as the N --> 1 limit of a matrix model. The models displayed first order transitions for all q greater than 2, giving identical behaviour to the corresponding Bethe lattice. We use here one of the results of hep-lat/9704020 namely a general saddle point solution for a q state Potts model expressed as a function of q, to investigate some peculiar features of the percolative limit q -> 1 and compare the results with those on the Be…
In the paper random-site percolation thresholds for simple cubic lattice with sites' neighborhoods containing next-next-next-nearest neighbors (4NN) are evaluated with Monte Carlo simulations. A recently proposed algorithm with low sampling for percolation thresholds estimation [Bastas et al., arXiv:1411.5834] is implemented for the studies of the top-bottom wrapping probability. The obtained percolation thresholds are $p_C(\text{4NN})=0.31160(12)$, $p_C(\text{4NN+NN})=0.15040(12)$, $p_C(\text{4NN+2NN})=0.15950(12)$, $p_C(\text{4NN+3NN})=0.20490(12)$, $p_C(\text{4NN+2NN+NN})=0.11440(12)$, $p_C…
In this paper we analyze several anisotropic bootstrap percolation models in three dimensions. We present the order of magnitude for the metastability threshold for a fairly general class of models. In our proofs we use an adaptation of the technique of dimensional reduction. We find that the order of the metastability threshold is generally determined by the "easiest growth direction" in the model. In contrast to the anisotropic bootstrap percolation in two dimensions, in three dimensions the order of the metatstability threshold for anisotropic bootstrap percolation can be equal to that of i…
We develop a field-theoretic representation for the configurations of an interface between two ordered phases of a q-state Potts model in two dimensions, in the solid-on-solid approximation. The model resembles the field theory of directed percolation and may be analysed using similar renormalisation group methods. In the one-loop approximation these reveal a simple mechanism for the emergence of a critical value q_c, such that for q<q_c the interface becomes a fractal with a vanishing interfacial tension at the critical point, while for q>q_c the interfacial width diverges at a finite value o…
We note that it is possible to construct a bond vertex model that displays q-state Potts criticality on an ensemble of phi3 random graphs of arbitrary topology, which we denote as ``thin'' random graphs in contrast to the fat graphs of the planar diagram expansion. Since the four vertex model in question also serves to describe the critical behaviour of the Ising model in field, the formulation reveals an isomorphism between the Potts and Ising models on thin random graphs. On planar graphs a similar correspondence is present only for q=1, the value associated with percolation.
In this work, we study the percolation transition and large deviation properties of generalized canonical network ensembles. This new type of random networks might have a very rich complex structure, including high heterogeneous degree sequences, non-trivial community structure or specific spatial dependence of the link probability for networks embedded in a metric space. We find the cluster distribution of the networks in these ensembles by mapping the problem to a fully connected Potts model with heterogeneous couplings. We show that the nature of the Potts model phase transition, linked to …
We investigate the crossover properties of the frustrated percolation model on a two-dimensional square lattice, with asymmetric distribution of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions. We determine the critical exponents nu, gamma and beta of the percolation transition of the model, for various values of the density of antiferromagnetic interactions pi in the range 0<pi<0.5. Our data are consistent with the existence of a crossover from random percolation behavior for pi=0, to frustrated percolation behavior, characterized by the critical exponents of the ferromagnetic 1/2-state Pott…
In this communication with computer simulation we evaluate simple cubic random-site percolation thresholds for neighbourhoods including the nearest neighbours (NN), the next-nearest neighbours (2NN) and the next-next-nearest neighbours (3NN). Our estimations base on finite-size scaling analysis of the percolation probability vs. site occupation probability plots. The Hoshen--Kopelman algorithm has been applied for cluster labelling. The calculated thresholds are 0.1372(1), 0.1420(1), 0.0976(1), 0.1991(1), 0.1036(1), 0.2455(1) for (NN + 2NN), (NN + 3NN), (NN + 2NN + 3NN), 2NN, (2NN + 3NN), 3NN …
We construct an exact expression for the site percolation threshold p_c on a quasi-regular tree, and a related exact lower bound for a quasi-regular graph. Both are given by the inverse spectral radius of the appropriate Hashimoto matrix used to count non-backtracking walks. The obtained bound always exceeds the inverse spectral radius of the original graph, and it is also generally tighter than the existing bound in terms of the maximum degree.
The partition function of the finite $1+ε$ state Potts model is shown to yield a closed form for the distribution of clusters in the immediate vicinity of the percolation transition. Various important properties of the transition are manifest, including scaling behavior and the emergence of the spanning cluster. The predictions are compared with simulations. Agreement is found to be good, although convergence between theory and numerical results as the system size is increased is, in some cases, unaccountably slow.
We investigate a perturbatively renormalizable $S_{q}$ invariant model with $N=q-1$ scalar field components below the upper critical dimension $d_c=\frac{10}{3}$. Our results hint at the existence of multicritical generalizations of the critical models of spanning random clusters and percolations in three dimensions. We also discuss the role of our multicritical model in a conjecture that involves the separation of first and second order phases in the $(d,q)$ diagram of the Potts model.
We conjecture an exact form for an universal ratio of four-point cluster connectivities in the critical two-dimensional $Q$-color Potts model. We also provide analogous results for the limit $Q\rightarrow 1$ that corresponds to percolation where the observable has a logarithmic singularity. Our conjectures are tested against Monte Carlo simulations showing excellent agreement for $Q=1,2,3$.
In bootstrap percolation it is known that the critical percolation threshold tends to converge slowly to zero with increasing system size, or, inversely, the critical size diverges fast when the percolation probability goes to zero. To obtain higher-order terms (that is, sharp and sharper thresholds) for the percolation threshold in general is a hard question. In the case of two-dimensional anisotropic models, sometimes correction terms can be obtained from inversion in a relatively simple manner.
We establish an intriguing connection between geometry and thermodynamics in the critical q-state Potts model on two-dimensional lattices, using the q-state bond-correlated percolation model (QBCPM) representation. We find that the number of clusters of the QBCPM has an energy-like singularity for q different from 1, which is reached and supported by exact results, numerical simulation, and scaling arguments. We also establish that the finite-size correction to the number of bonds, has no constant term and explains the divergence of related quantities as q --> 4, the multicritical point. Simil…
The two-dimensional q-state Potts model is subjected to a Z_q symmetric disorder that allows for the existence of a Nishimori line. At q=2, this model coincides with the +/- J random-bond Ising model. For q>2, apart from the usual pure and zero-temperature fixed points, the ferro/paramagnetic phase boundary is controlled by two critical fixed points: a weak disorder point, whose universality class is that of the ferromagnetic bond-disordered Potts model, and a strong disorder point which generalizes the usual Nishimori point. We numerically study the case q=3, tracing out the phase diagram and…
The critical behavior of the $(n+1)$-states Potts model in $d$-dimensions is studied with functional renormalization group techniques. We devise a general method to derive $β$-functions for continuos values of $d$ and $n$ and we write the flow equation for the effective potential (LPA) when instead $n$ is fixed. We calculate several critical exponents, which are found to be in good agreement with Monte Carlo simulations and $ε$-expansion results available in the literature. In particular, we focus on Percolation $(n\to0)$ and Spanning Forest $(n\to-1)$ which are the only non-trivial universali…
We compare the correlation times of the Sweeny and Gliozzi dynamics for two-dimensional Ising and three-state Potts models, and the three-dimensional Ising model for the simulations in the percolation prepresentation. The results are also compared with Swendsen-Wang and Wolff cluster dynamics. It is found that Sweeny and Gliozzi dynamics have essentially the same dynamical critical behavior. Contrary to Gliozzi's claim (cond-mat/0201285), the Gliozzi dynamics has critical slowing down comparable to that of other cluster methods. For the two-dimensional Ising model, both Sweeny and Gliozzi dyna…
We compute the critical polymials for the q-state Potts model on all Archimedean lattices, using a parallel implementation of the algorithm of (Jacobsen, J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 47 135001) that gives us access to larger sizes than previously possible. The exact polynomials are computed for bases of size $6 \times 6$ unit cells, and the root in the temperature variable $v=e^K-1$ is determined numerically at $q=1$ for bases of size $8 \times 8$. This leads to improved results for bond percolation thresholds, and for the Potts-model critical manifolds in the real $(q,v)$ plane. In the two most f…
We study the bond percolation problem in random graphs of $N$ weighted vertices, where each vertex $i$ has a prescribed weight $P_i$ and an edge can connect vertices $i$ and $j$ with rate $P_iP_j$. The problem is solved by the $q\to 1$ limit of the $q$-state Potts model with inhomogeneous interactions for all pairs of spins. We apply this approach to the static model having $P_i\propto i^{-μ} (0<μ<1)$ so that the resulting graph is scale-free with the degree exponent $λ=1+1/μ$. The number of loops as well as the giant cluster size and the mean cluster size are obtained in the thermodynamic lim…
In this paper we compute the square lattice random sites percolation thresholds in case when sites from the 4th and the 5th coordination shells are included for neighbourhood. The obtained results support earlier claims, that (a) the coordination number and the space dimension are insufficient for building universal formulae for percolation thresholds and (b) that percolation threshold may not decrease monotonically with lattice site coordination number.
Global physical properties of random media change qualitatively at a percolation threshold, where isolated clusters merge to form one infinite connected component. The precise knowledge of percolation thresholds is thus of paramount importance. For two dimensional lattice graphs, we use the universal scaling form of the cluster size distributions to derive a relation between the mean Euler characteristic of the critical percolation patterns and the threshold density $p_c$. From this relation, we deduce a simple rule to estimate $p_c$, which is remarkably accurate. We present some evidence that…
A new algorithm is presented, which allows to calculate numerically the partition function Z_q of the d-dimensional q-state Potts models for arbitrary real values q>0 at any given temperature T with high precision. The basic idea is to measure the distribution of the number of connected components in the corresponding Fortuin-Kasteleyn representation and to compare with the distribution of the case q=1 (graph percolation), where the exact result Z_1=1 is known. As application, d=2 and d=3-dimensional ferromagnetic Potts models are studied, and the critical values q_c, where the transition chan…
This is supplementary material for the article arxiv:0708.3250. We provide an alternative introduction of the mean Euler Characteristic, additional examples and the percolation thresholds for 2-uniform lattices.
We consider the two dimensional $Q-$ random-cluster Potts model on the torus and at the critical point. We study the probability for two points to be connected by a cluster for general values of $Q\in [1,4]$. Using a Conformal Field Theory (CFT) approach, we provide the leading topological corrections to the plane limit of this probability. These corrections have universal nature and include, as a special case, the universality class of two-dimensional critical percolation. We compare our predictions to Monte Carlo measurements. Finally, we take Monte Carlo measurements of the torus energy one…
Connections are found between the two-component percolation problem and the conductor/insulator percolation problem. These produce relations between critical exponents, and suggest formulae connecting the conductivity exponents in different dimensions. Values for the critical exponents are obtained from calculations on the incipient infinite cluster in two and three dimensions.
We study the phase diagram of the ferromagnetic $q$-state Potts model on the various three-dimensional lattices for integer and non-integer values of $q>1$. Our approach is based on a thermodynamically self-consistent Ornstein-Zernike approximation for the two-point correlation functions. We calculate the transition temperatures and, when the transition is first order, the jump discontinuities in the magnetization and the internal energy, as well as the coordinates of the critical endpoint in external field. Our predictions are in very good agreement with best available estimates. From the num…
We give accurate estimates for the bond percolation critical probabilities on seven Archimedean lattices, for which the critical probabilities are unknown, using an algorithm of Newman and Ziff.
We improve our previous results for the percolation thresholds of isotropically oriented rods in three dimensional boxes. We prove again the applicability of the excluded volume rule in the slender-rod limit (radius/length -> 0). Other limits for the rod sizes are discussed and important finite-size effects are revealed.
We compute the crossover exponents of all quadratic and cubic deformations of critical field theories with permutation symmetry $S_q$ in $d=6-ε$ (Landau-Potts field theories) and $d=4-ε$ (hypertetrahedral models) up to three loops. We use our results to determine the $ε$-expansion of the fractal dimension of critical clusters in the most interesting cases, which include spanning trees and forests ($q\to0$), and bond percolations ($q\to1$). We also explicitly verify several expected degeneracies in the spectrum of relevant operators for natural values of $q$ upon analytic continuation, which are…
Using Monte Carlo simulations on different system sizes we determine with high precision the critical thresholds of two families of directed percolation models on a square lattice. The thresholds decrease exponentially with the degree of connectivity. We conjecture that $p_{c}$ decays exactly as the inverse of the coodination number.
We use invasion percolation to compute highly-accurate numerical values for bond and site percolation thresholds p_c on the hypercubic lattice Z^d for d = 4,,,,,13. We also compute the Fisher exponent tau governing the cluster size distribution at criticality. Our results support the claim that the mean-field value tau = 5/2 holds for d >= 6, with logarithmic corrections to power-law scaling at d=6.
In a recent paper, we have reported a universal power law for both site and bond percolation thresholds for any lattice of cubic symmetry. Extension to anisotropic lattices is discussed.
We present a site-percolation model based on a modified FCC lattice, as well as an efficient algorithm of inspecting percolation which takes advantage of the Markov stochastic theory, in order to study the percolation threshold of carbon nanotube (CNT) fibers. Our Markov-chain based algorithm carries out the inspection of percolation by performing repeated sparse matrix-vector multiplications, which allows parallelized computation to accelerate the inspection for a given configuration. With this approach, we determine that the site-percolation transition of CNT fibers occurs at p_c =0.1533+-0.…
