We use invasion percolation to compute highly-accurate numerical values for bond and site percolation thresholds p_c on the hypercubic lattice Z^d for d = 4,,,,,13. We also compute the Fisher exponent tau governing the cluster size distribution at criticality. Our results support the claim that the mean-field value tau = 5/2 holds for d >= 6, with logarithmic corrections to power-law scaling at d=6.
We present results for the high-temperature series expansions of the susceptibility and free energy of the $q$-state Potts model on a $D$-dimensional hypercubic lattice $\mathbb{Z}^D$ for arbitrary values of $q$. The series are up to order 20 for dimension $D\leq3$, order 19 for $D\leq 5$ and up to order 17 for arbitrary $D$. Using the $q\to 1$ limit of these series, we estimate the percolation threshold $p_c$ and critical exponent $γ$ for bond percolation in different dimensions. We also extend the 1/D expansion of the critical coupling for arbitrary values of $q$ up to order $D^{-9}$.
We study proper lattice animals for bond- and site-percolation on the hypercubic lattice $\mathbb{Z}^d$ to derive asymptotic series of the percolation threshold $p_c$ in $1/d$, The first few terms of these series were computed in the 1970s, but the series have not been extended since then. We add two more terms to the series for $\pcsite$ and one more term to the series for $\pcbond$, using a combination of brute-force enumeration, combinatorial identities and an approach based on Padé approximants, which requires much fewer resources than the classical method. We discuss why it took 40 years …
The asymptotic behavior of the percolation threshold $p_c$ and its dependence upon coordination number $z$ is investigated for both site and bond percolation on four-dimensional lattices with compact extended neighborhoods. Simple hypercubic lattices with neighborhoods up to 9th nearest neighbors are studied to high precision by means of Monte-Carlo simulations based upon a single-cluster growth algorithm. For site percolation, an asymptotic analysis confirms the predicted behavior $zp_c \sim 16 η_c = 2.086$ for large $z$, and finite-size corrections are accounted for by forms $p_c \sim 16 η_c…
Recent advances on the glass problem motivate reexamining classical models of percolation. Here, we consider the displacement of an ant in a labyrinth near the percolation threshold on cubic lattices both below and above the upper critical dimension of simple percolation, d_u=6. Using theory and simulations, we consider the scaling regime part, and obtain that both caging and subdiffusion scale logarithmically for d >= d_u. The theoretical derivation considers Bethe lattices with generalized connectivity and a random graph model, and employs a scaling analysis to confirm that logarithmic scali…
We consider the Constrained-degree percolation model on the hypercubic lattice, $\mathbb L^d=(\mathbb Z^d,\mathbb E^d)$ for $d\geq 3$. It is a continuous time percolation model defined by a sequence, $(U_e)_{e\in\mathbb E^d}$, of i.i.d. uniform random variables in $[0,1]$ and a positive integer (constraint) $κ$. Each bond $e\in\mathbb E^d$ tries to open at time $U_e$; it succeeds if and only if both its end-vertices belong to at most $κ-1$ open bonds at that time. Our main results are quantitative upper bounds on the critical time, characterising a phase transition for all $d\geq 3$ and most n…
The fractions of samples spanning a lattice at its percolation threshold are found by computer simulation of random site-percolation in two- and three-dimensional hypercubic lattices using different boundary conditions. As a byproduct we find $p_c = 0.311605(5)$ in the cubic lattice.
The site percolation problem is studied on d-dimensional generalisations of the Kagome' lattice. These lattices are isotropic and have the same coordination number q as the hyper-cubic lattices in d dimensions, namely q=2d. The site percolation thresholds are calculated numerically for d= 3, 4, 5, and 6. The scaling of these thresholds as a function of dimension d, or alternatively q, is different than for hypercubic lattices: p_c ~ 2/q instead of p_c ~ 1/(q-1). The latter is the Bethe approximation, which is usually assumed to hold for all lattices in high dimensions. A series expansion is ca…
We prove a remarkable combinatorial symmetry in the number of spanning configurations in site percolation: for a large class of lattices, the number of spanning configurations with an odd or even number of occupied sites differs by $\pm 1$. In particular, this symmetry implies that the total number of spanning configurations is always odd, independent of the size or shape of the lattice. The class of lattices that share this symmetry includes the square lattice and the hypercubic lattice in any dimension, with a wide variety of boundary conditions.
We simulate directed site percolation on two lattices with 4 spatial and 1 time-like dimensions (simple and body-centered hypercubic in space) with the standard single cluster spreading scheme. For efficiency, the code uses the same ingredients (hashing, histogram re-weighing, and improved estimators) as described in Phys. Rev. {\bf E 67}, 036101 (2003). Apart from providing the most precise estimates for $p_c$ on these lattices, we provide a detailed comparison with the logarithmic corrections calculated by Janssen and Stenull [Phys. Rev. {\bf E 69}, 016125 (2004)]. Fits with the leading loga…
We develop a method of constructing percolation clusters that allows us to build very large clusters using very little computer memory by limiting the maximum number of sites for which we maintain state information to a number of the order of the number of sites in the largest chemical shell of the cluster being created. The memory required to grow a cluster of mass s is of the order of $s^θ$ bytes where $θ$ ranges from 0.4 for 2-dimensional lattices to 0.5 for 6- (or higher)-dimensional lattices. We use this method to estimate $d_{\scriptsize min}$, the exponent relating the minimum path $\el…
The Constrained-degree percolation model was introduced in [B.N.B. de Lima, R. Sanchis, D.C. dos Santos, V. Sidoravicius, and R. Teodoro, Stoch. Process. Appl. (2020)], where it was proven that this model has a non-trivial phase transition on a square lattice. We study the Constrained-degree percolation model on the $d$-dimensional hypercubic lattice ($\mathbb{Z}^d$) and, via numerical simulations, found evidence that the critical time $t_{c}^{d}(k)$ is monotonous not increasing in the constrained $k$ if $d=3,4$, like it is when $d=2$. We verify that the lowest constrained value $k$ such that …
Toninelli, Biroli, and Fisher recently introduced the knights model, a correlated percolation system (Phys. Rev. Lett. 96, 035702 (2006)). They claimed to prove that the critical point of this model was the same as that for directed percolation, and then used this to show (assuming a conjecture about directed percolation, described later in a more detailed proof) that this model has a discontinuous phase transition with a diverging correlation length. However, there is an error in their work, so that these results are unproven for their model. Their proofs can, however, be modified to work for…
The Gaussian model of discontinuous percolation, recently introduced by Araújo and Herrmann [Phys. Rev. Lett., 105, 035701 (2010)], is numerically investigated in three dimensions, disclosing a discontinuous transition. For the simple-cubic lattice, in the thermodynamic limit, we report a finite jump of the order parameter, $J=0.415 \pm 0.005$. The largest cluster at the threshold is compact, but its external perimeter is fractal with fractal dimension $d_A = 2.5 \pm 0.2$. The study is extended to hypercubic lattices up to six dimensions and to the mean-field limit (infinite dimension). We fin…
In their recent work Sheinman et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 114, 098104 (2015)] introduce a variation of percolation which they call no-enclaves percolation (NEP). The main claims are 1) the salient physics captured in NEP is closer to what happens experimentally; 2) The Fisher exponent of NEP, is $τ=1.82(1)$; 3) Due to the different Fisher exponent, NEP constitutes a universality class distinct from random percolation (RP). While we fully agree with 1) and found NEP to be a very interesting variation of random percolation, we disagree with 2) and 3). We will demonstrate that $τ$ is exactly $2$, di…
We present a numerical study for the threshold percolation probability, $p_c$, in the bond percolation model with multiple ranges, in the square lattice. A recent Theorem demonstrated by de Lima {\it et al.} [B. N. B. de Lima, R. P. Sanchis, R. W. C. Silva, STOCHASTIC PROC APPL {\bf 121}, 2043-2048 (2011)] states that the limit value of $p_c$ when the long ranges go to infinity converges to the bond percolation threshold in the hypercubic lattice, $\mathbb{Z}^d$, for some appropriate dimension $d$. We present the first numerical estimations for the percolation threshold considering two-range a…
The influence of long-range interactions decaying in d dimensions as 1/R^{d+σ} on the critical behavior of systems with Fisher's correlation-function exponent for short-range interactions η_{SR}<0, is re-examined. Such systems, typically described by Φ^{3}-field theories, are e.g. the Potts-model in the percolation-limit, the Edwards-Anderson spin-glass, and the Yang-Lee edge singularity. In contrast to preceding studies, it is shown by means of Wilson's momentum-shell renormalization-group recursion relations that the long-range interactions dominate as long as σ<2-η_{SR}. Exponents change co…
We study the phase diagram of fully directed lattice animals with nearest-neighbour interactions on the square lattice. This model comprises several interesting ensembles (directed site and bond trees, bond animals, strongly embeddable animals) as special cases and its collapse transition is equivalent to a directed bond percolation threshold. Precise estimates for the animal size exponents in the different phases and for the critical fugacities of these special ensembles are obtained from a phenomenological renormalization group analysis of the correlation lengths for strips of width up to n=…
The conjectured exact percolation thresholds of the Fortuin-Kasteleyn cluster for the +-J Ising spin glass model are theoretically shown based on a conjecture. It is pointed out that the percolation transition of the Fortuin-Kasteleyn cluster for the spin glass model is related to a dynamical transition for the freezing of spins. The present results are obtained as locations of points on the so-called Nishimori line, which is a special line in the phase diagram. We obtain TFK = 2 / ln [z / (z - 2)] and pFK = z / [2 (z - 1)] for the Bethe lattice, TFK -> infinity and pFK -> 1 / 2 for the infini…
In this article, we investigate explosive bond percolation (EBP) with product rule, formally known as Achlioptas process, on a scale-free multifractal weighted planar stochastic lattice (WPSL). One of the key features of the EBP transition is the delay, compared to corresponding random bond percolation (RBP), in the onset of spanning cluster. However, when it happens, it happens so dramatically that initially it was believed, albeit ultimately proved wrong, that explosive percolation (EP) exhibits first order transition. In the case of EP, much efforts were devoted to resolving the issue of it…

A novel approach to parallelize the well-known Hoshen-Kopelman algorithm has been chosen, suitable for simulating huge lattices in high dimensions on massively-parallel computers with distributed memory and message passing. This method consists of domain decomposition of the simulated lattice into strips perpendicular to the hyperplane of investigation that is used in the Hoshen-Kopelman algorithm. Systems of world record sizes, up to L=4000256 in two dimensions, L=20224 in three, and L=1036 in four, gave precise estimates for the Fisher exponent tau, the corrections to scaling Delta_1, and fo…
We investigate the critical scaling behavior of finite systems in the canonical ensemble. The essential difference with the grand canonical ensemble. i.e., the constraint on the number of particles, is already known to lead to the Fisher renormalization phenomenon that modifies the thermal critical singularities. We show that, in observables that are not Fisher renormalized, it also leads to a finite-size effect governed by an exponent $y_1$ that depends on the temperature exponent $y_t$ and the dimensionality $d$ as $y_1=-|2y_t-d|$. We verify this prediction by a Monte Carlo analysis of sever…
It is a central prediction of renormalisation group theory that the critical behaviours of many statistical mechanics models on Euclidean lattices depend only on the dimension and not on the specific choice of lattice. We investigate the extent to which this universality continues to hold beyond the Euclidean setting, taking as case studies Bernoulli bond percolation and lattice trees. We present strong numerical evidence that the critical exponents governing these models on transitive graphs of polynomial volume growth depend only on the volume-growth dimension of the graph and not on any oth…
Using grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations, we investigate the percolation behavior of a square well fluid with an ultra-short range of attraction in three dimension (3D) and in confined geometry. The latter is defined through two parallel and structureless walls (slit-pore). We focus on temperatures above the critical temperature of the (metastable) condensation transition of the 3D system. Investigating a broad range of systems sizes, we first determine the percolation thresholds, i. e., the critical packing fraction for percolation $η_{c}$. For the slit-pore systems, $η_{c}$ is found to …
The statistical behavior of the size (or mass) of the largest cluster in subcritical percolation on a finite lattice of size $N$ is investigated (below the upper critical dimension, presumably $d_c=6$). It is argued that as $N \to \infty$ the cumulative distribution function converges to the Fisher-Tippett (or Gumbel) distribution $e^{-e^{-z}}$ in a certain weak sense (when suitably normalized). The mean grows like $s_ξ^* \log N$, where $s_ξ^*(p)$ is a ``crossover size''. The standard deviation is bounded near $s_ξ^* π/\sqrt{6}$ with persistent fluctuations due to discreteness. These predictio…
The fractal dimensions and the percolation exponents of the geometrical spin clusters of like sign at criticality, are obtained numerically for an Ising model with temperature-dependent annealed bond dilution, also known as the thermalized bond Ising model (TBIM), in two dimensions. For this purpose, a modified Wolff single-cluster Monte Carlo simulation is used to generate equilibrium spin configurations on square lattices in the critical region. A tie-breaking rule is employed to identify non-intersecting spin cluster boundaries along the edges of the dual lattice. The values obtained for th…
