It is shown that the large $N_c$ limit of QCD with quarks in the two-index antisymmetric color representation [QCD(AS)] has narrow tetraquark states with exotic flavor quantum numbers. They decay into mesons with a width that is parametrically $O(1/N_c^2)$. Tetraquarks with non-exotic quantum numbers mix at leading order with mesons of the same overall quantum numbers. QCD(AS) at $N_c=3$ corresponds to ordinary QCD; its large $N_c$ limit represents an alternative starting point for a $1/N_c$ expansion to the standard one with quarks in the fundamental color representation.
We investigate the production of exotic tetraquarks, $QQ\bar{q}\bar{q} \equiv T_{QQ}$ ($Q=c$ or $b$ and $q=u$ or $d$), in relativistic heavy-ion collisions using the quark coalescence model. The $T_{QQ}$ yield is given by the overlap of the density matrix of the constituents in the emission source with the Wigner function of the produced tetraquark. Structure and production of doubly charmed tetraquarks T_cc (cc ubar dbar) are studied from the viewpoint of color configurations. Based on the diquark correlation, the tetraquark T_cc with I(JP)=0(1+) is considered to be stable against strong decay. Discussing four-point Green functions of bilinear quark currents in large-$N_c$ QCD, we formulate rigorous criteria for selecting diagrams appropriate for the analysis of potential tetraquark poles. We provide a holographic description of non-strange multiquark exotics as compact topological molecules by binding heavy-light mesons to a tunneling configuration in D8-D$\bar 8$ that is homotopic to the vacuum state with fixed Chern-Simons number. In the tunneling process, the heavy-light mesons transmute to fermions. In this work, we study systematically the mass splittings of the $qq\bar{Q}\bar{Q}$ ($q=u$, $d$, $s$ and $Q=c$, $b$) tetraquark states with the color-magnetic interaction by considering color mixing effects and estimate roughly their masses. We find that the color mixing effect is relatively important for the $J^P=0^+$ states and possible stable tetraquarks exist in the $nn\bar{Q}\bar{Q}$ ($n=u$, $d$) and $ns\bar{Q}\bar{Q}$ systems either with $J=0$ or with $J=1$. Possible decay patterns of the tetraquarks are briefly discussed.
We develop a moment QCD sum rule method augmented by fundamental inequalities to study the existence of exotic doubly hidden-charm/bottom tetraquark states made of four heavy quarks. By binding a chiral soliton to a heavy meson, either a normal $N_c$-quark baryon or an exotic $(N_c+2)$-quark baryon is obtained. We study a QCD sum rule analysis for an exotic tetraquark ud bar[s] bar[s] of J^P=0^+ and I = 1. We construct q q bar[q] bar[q] currents in a local product form and find that there are five independent currents for this channel. Due to high dimensional nature of the current, it is not easy to form a good sum rule when using a single current. This means that we do not find any sum rule window to extract reliable results, due to the insufficient convergence of the OPE and to the exceptional important role of QCD continuum. Frequently, theoretical discussions of multiquark hadron states prove to be contaminated or even dominated by contributions of conventional hadrons. For the approach to QCD bound states in terms of QCD sum rules, we show how to get rid of all unwanted ordinary-hadron ballast by boiling down the traditional QCD sum-rule formalism to the nonconventional aspects in the focus of interest.

Recently, a QCD sum-rule analysis of tetraquark molecular states has been published, having the objective of demonstrating that our previously formulated tetraquark-adequate QCD sum rules are not correct. This comment brings to the attention of the reader inconsistencies in that article and explains some subtle details of QCD sum rules for exotic states.
In "Landau equation and QCD sum rules for the tetraquark molecular states", I list out six reasons to refute the assertion of Lucha, Melikhov and Sazdjian. In "Comment on "Landau equation and QCD sum rules for the tetraquark molecular states"", they refute my viewpoint. If they want to the refute my viewpoint robustly, they should refute the six reasons one by one, and provide at least one example to illustrate that they have obtained reliable QCD sum rules for the tetraquark states and free two-meson states, respectively.
In this article, we perform a systematic study of the mass spectrum of the scalar doubly charmed and doubly bottom tetraquark states using the QCD sum rules.
We study the low-lying scalar mesons of light u, d, s flavors in the QCD sum rule. Having all possible combinations of tetraquark currents in the local form, QCD sum rule analysis has been carefully performed. We found that using the appropriate tetraquark currents, the masses of sigma, kappa, f_0 and a_0 mesons appear in the region of 0.6 -- 1 GeV with the expected ordering. The results are compared with that of the conventional \bar{q} q currents, where the masses are considerably larger.
We apply the method of QCD sum rules to study the $s q \bar s \bar q$ tetraquark states with the exotic quantum number $J^{PC} = 3^{-+}$, and extract mass of the lowest-lying state to be $2.33^{+0.19}_{-0.16}$ GeV. To construct the relevant tetraquark currents we need to explicitly add the covariant derivative operator. The LHCb Collaboration has reported resonant activity in the channel $D^+ K^-$, identifying two components: $X_0(2900)$ with $J^P = 0^+$ at $2866 {\pm} 7$ MeV, $Γ_0=57{\pm} 13$ MeV and $X_1(2900)$ with $J^P = 1^-$ at $2904 {\pm} 7$ MeV, $Γ_1=110{\pm} 12$ MeV. We interpret the $X_0(2900)$ component as a $cs \bar u\bar d$ isosinglet compact tetraquark, calculating its mass to be $2863 {\pm} 12$ MeV. This is the first exotic hadron with open heavy flavor. Tetraquark properties are examined in the limit of large $N_c$ of color in QCD. The qualitative differences between molecular and compact tetraquarks are outlined. Consequences of the possible existence of compact tetraquarks are analyzed and shown to lead to upper bounds in the $N_c$-behavior of their decay widths. Open questions on theoretical grounds, related to the dynamics of systems composed of two quarks and two antiquarks, are addressed.
In this article, we introduce a P-wave between the diquark and antidiquark explicitly to construct the vector tetraquark currents, and study the vector tetraquark states with the QCD sum rules systematically, and obtain the lowest vector tetraquark masses up to now. The present predictions support assigning the $Y(4220/4260)$, $Y(4320/4360)$, $Y(4390)$ and $Z(4250)$ to be the vector tetraquark states with a relative P-wave between the diquark and antidiquark pair.

The QCD quark cyclobutadiene (ring-like), a new color structure of tetraquark system, is proposed and studied in the flux tube model with multi-body confinement potential. The QCD quark cyclobutadiene and other flux tube structures of tetraquark states have similar energies and they can be regarded as QCD isomeric compounds. The light tetraquark spectra ($u, d, s$ only) with ring-like and diquark-antidiquark structures are calculated in the flux tube model. We study the lowest-lying scalar mesons in the QCD sum rule by considering them as tetraquark states. We find that there are five independent currents for each state with a certain flavor structure. By forming linear combinations, we find that some mixed currents give reliable QCD sum rules. Among various tetraquark currents, we consider those which are constructed by the diquarks having anti-symmetric and symmetric flavor structures. Multiquark correlations inside hadrons can have a significant and in some cases even striking impact on the hadron spectrum. We show how such correlations in general, and mesons with a dominant tetraquark content in particular, emerge holographically in the AdS/QCD framework. On this basis, we arrive at a holographic realization of an exceptionally strong four-quark binding and a correspondingly large tetraquark component in the lightest scalar mesons. Higher-lying tetraquark excitations, on the other hand, become too broad to form supernumeral scalar states.
We investigate the widths of the recently observed charmonium like resonances X(3872), Z(4430) and Z_2(4250) using QCD sum rules. Extending previous analyses regarding these states as diquark-antiquark states or molecules of D mesons, we introduce the Breit-Wigner function in the pole term. We find that introducing the width increases the mass at small Borel window region. We use the twist dimensions of the operators underlying the dynamical behavior of exclusive production processes as a tool for determining the structure of exotic heavy-quark states such as the $Z_c^+(4430)$ tetraquark. The resulting counting rules predict distinctive fall-offs of the cross sections in center-of-mass energy, thus distinguishing whether the tetraquarks are segregated into di-meson molecules, diquark-antidiquark pairs, or more democratically arranged four-quark states. In this article, we extend our previous work to study the mass spectrum of the ground state hidden-bottom tetraquark states with the QCD sum rules in a systematic way. The predicted hidden-bottom tetraquark masses can be confronted to the experimental data in the future to diagnose the nature of the $Z_b$ states. In calculations, we observe that the scalar diquark states, the axialvector diquark states and the axialvector components of the tensor diquark state are all good diquarks in building the lowest tetraquark states.
If connecting properties of a multiquark hadron with those exhibited by its constituents, QCD sum rules inferred along the routes of traditional wisdom necessarily involve contributions not related at all to and thus not presenting information about multiquarks. Realizing this deficiency, we propose to increase, for the example of tetraquarks, the predictive power of the QCD sum-rule formalism by disposal of all of the unwanted contributions from the very beginning; this move is easily accomplished by subjecting the contributions to our perspicuous selection criterion.

Spectrum of the low-lying hidden- and double-charm tetraquark states are investigated in a nonrelativistic quark potential model, where the Instanton-induced interaction is taken as the residual spin-dependent hyperfine interaction between quarks. The model parameters are fixed by fitting the spectrum of the ground hadron states. The properties of possibly existing tetraquarks are studied in the large-$N_{\mathrm{c}}^{}$ limit of QCD by means of four-point correlation functions of meson currents.The necessity of a detailed analysis of the singularities of Feynman diagrams, by means of the Landau equations, to recognize those diagrams that might contribute to the formation of tetraquark states, is emphasized. It is found, in general, that tetraquarks, if they exist, should have narrow widths of the order of $N_{\mathrm{c}}^{-2}$.
In this article, we take the scalar diquarks as point particles and describe them as basic quantum fields, then introduce the SU(3) color gauge interaction and new vacuum condensates to study the nonet scalar mesons as tetraquark states with the QCD sum rules. In this article, we study the axialvector-diquark-axialvector-antidiquark ($AA$) type and scalar-diquark-scalar-antidiquark ($SS$) type fully open flavor $cs\bar{u}\bar{d}$ tetraquark states with the spin-parity $J^P={0}^+$ via the QCD sum rules. In this letter, we take the point of view that the X(1576) be tetraquark state which consists of a scalar-diquark and an anti-scalar-diquark in relative $P$-wave, and calculate its mass in the framework of the QCD sum rules approach. We perform an $n_f=2+1$ lattice study of a number of channels where past claims exist in the literature for the existence of strong-interaction-stable light-heavy tetraquarks. We find no evidence for any such deeply-bound states, beyond the $J^P=1^+$, $I=0$ $ud\bar{b}\bar{b}$ and $I=1/2$ $ls\bar{b}\bar{b}$ states already identified in earlier lattice studies. There are generally two types of Wick contractions in lattice QCD calculations of a correlation function --- connected and disconnected ones. The disconnected contribution is difficult to calculate and noisy, thus it is often neglected. In this article, we construct the diquark-antidiquark type current operators to study the axialvector $B_c$-like tetraquark states with the QCD sum rules. In calculations, we take the energy scale formula as a powerful constraint to choose the ideal energy scales of the QCD spectral densities and add detailed discussions to illustrate why we take the energy scale formula to improve the QCD sum rules for the doubly heavy tetraquark states. Using a soft-wall AdS/QCD approach we derive the Schrödinger-type equation of motion for the tetraquark wave function, which is dual to the dimension-4 AdS bulk profile. The latter coincides with the number of constituents in the leading Fock state of the tetraquark. The obtained equation of motion is solved analytically, providing predictions for both the tetraquark wave function and its mass. A low mass limit for possible tetraquark states is given by $M \ge 2 κ= 1$ GeV, where $κ= 0.5$ GeV is the typical value of the scale parameter in soft-wall AdS/QCD. In this work, we re-investigate the mass spectrum of the ground state, first, second and third radial excited states of the diquark-antidiquark type fully-charm tetraquark states with the QCD sum rules plus Regge trajectories. We take account of the CMS and ATLAS experimental data and preform a self-consistent analysis, then try to make possible assignments of the $X(6600)$, $X(6900)$ and $X(7300)$ in the picture of tetraquark states with the $J^{PC}=0^{++}$ or $1^{+-}$.
In this article, we take the point of view that the charmed scalar meson $D_{s0}(2317)$ be a tetraquark state and devote to calculate its mass within the framework of the QCD sum rules approach in the heavy quark limit. The numerical values for the mass of the $D_{s0}(2317)$ are consistent with the experimental data, there must be some tetraquark component in the scalar meson $D_{s0}(2317)$. Detailed discussions about the threshold parameter and Borel parameter for the multiquark states are also presented.
We study the exotic $bc\bar{q}\bar{q}$, $bc\bar{s}\bar{s}$ and $qc\bar{q}\bar{b}$, $sc\bar{s}\bar{b}$ systems by constructing the corresponding tetraquark currents with $J^P=0^+$ and $1^+$. After investigating the two-point correlation functions and the spectral densities, we perform QCD sum rule analysis and extract the masses of these open-flavor tetraquark states. We use the Laplace/Borel sum rules (LSR) and the finite energy/local duality sum rules (FESR) to investigate the non-strange $ud\bar u\bar d$ and hidden-strange $us\bar u\bar s$ tetraquark states with exotic quantum numbers $J^{PC}=0^{+-}$ . We systematically construct all eight possible tetraquark currents in this channel without covariant derivative operator.
