We study the emergence of quasiparticles in Hund's metals with an SU($M$)$\times$SU($N$)-symmetric Kondo impurity model carrying both spin and orbital degrees of freedom. We show that the coupling of the impurity spin to the conduction electrons can be \emph{ferromagnetic}, notably for hole-doped iron pnictides. We derive the weak-coupling renormalization group (RG) equations for arbitrary representations of SU($M$)$\times$SU($N$). A ferromagnetic spin coupling results in a protracted RG flow, accounting for the surprising particle-hole asymmetry that is observed in the iron-pnictide systems. We establish the low coherence scale $T_{\rm K}$ which depends on the filling through the impurity representation. We also discuss the temperature dependence of the spin and orbital susceptibilities. Finally, we argue that this mechanism explains the strong valence dependence of the coherence scale observed in dilute transition-metal magnetic alloys.
Two one-dimensional Luttinger liquid systems coupled by Hund's coupling are studied by the renormalization group and the non-abelian bosonization methods. It is found that the Hund's coupling is always relevant irrespective of the repulsive interaction between electrons within each chain. The properties of the resulting strong coupling fixed point are discussed.
We show that the numerical renormalization group (NRG) is a viable multi-band impurity solver for Dynamical Mean Field Theory (DMFT), offering unprecedent real-frequency spectral resolution at arbitrarily low energies and temperatures. We use it to obtain a numerically exact DMFT solution to the Hund's metal problem for a three-orbital model with filling factor $n_d=2$. The ground state is a Fermi liquid. The one-particle spectral function has a strong particle-hole asymmetry, with a clear apparent power law for positive frequencies only. With increasing temperature it shows a coherence-incohe…
We investigate a problem about the competition between the hybridization and the Hund-rule coupling by applying the Wilson numerical renormalization-group method to the extended Kondo model where the impurity spin interacts via the Hund-rule coupling, with an extra spin which is isolated from the conduction electrons. It is shown that the Hund-rule coupling is an irrelevant perturbation against the strong coupling fixed point. However, the Hund-rule coupling decreases the characteristic energy $T_K$ drastically to the lower side and the irrelevant operator, which describes the low energy physi…
We propose a density matrix renormalization group approach to tackle a two-state system coupled to a bosonic bath with continuous spectrum. In this approach, the optimized phonon scheme is applied to several hundred phonon modes which are divided linearly among the spectrum. Although DMRG cannot resolve very small energy scales, the delocalized-localized transition points of the two-state system are extracted by the extrapolation of the flow diagram results. The phase diagram is compared with the numerical renormalization group results and shows good agreement in both Ohmic and sub-Ohmic cases…
We study numerically the one-dimensional Kondo and Hund lattices consisting of localized spins interacting antiferro or ferromagnetically with the itinerant electrons, respectively. Using the Density Matrix Renormalization Group we find, for both models and in the small coupling regime, the existence of new magnetic phases where the local spins order forming ferromagnetic islands coupled antiferromagnetically. Furthermore, by increasing the interaction parameter $|J|$ we find that this order evolves toward the ferromagnetic regime through a spiral-like phase with longer characteristic wave len…
We present THz range optical conductivity data of a thin film of the near quantum critical heavy fermion compound CeFe$_2$Ge$_2$. Our complex conductivity measurements find a deviation from conventional Drude-like transport in a temperature range previously reported to exhibit unconventional behavior. We calculate the frequency dependent effective mass and scattering rate using an extended Drude model analysis. We find the inelastic scattering rate can be described by a temperature dependent power-law $ω^{n(T)}$ where $n(T)$ approaches $\sim1.0 \pm 0.2$ at 1.5 K. This is compared to the $ρ\sim…
The Mott-Hubbard metal-insulator transition is investigated in a two-band Hubbard model within dynamical mean-field theory. To this end, we use a suitable extension of Wilson's numerical renormalization group for the solution of the effective two-band single-impurity Anderson model. This method is non-perturbative and, in particular, allows to take into account the full exchange part of the Hund's rule coupling between the two orbitals. We discuss in detail the influence of the various Coulomb interactions on thermodynamic and dynamic properties, for both the impurity and the lattice model. Th…
The one-dimensional SU(4) Hubbard model perturbed by Hund coupling is studied, away from half-filling, by means of renormalization group and bosonization methods. A spectral gap is always present in the spin-orbital sector irrespective of the magnitude of the Coulomb repulsion. We further distinguish between two qualitatively different regimes. At small Hund coupling, we find that the symmetry of the system is dynamically enlarged to SU(4) at low energy with the result of {\it coherent} spin-orbital excitations. When the charge sector is not gapped, a superconducting instability is shown to ex…
We study the interplay between Mott physics, driven by Coulomb repulsion U, and Hund physics, driven by Hund's coupling J, for a minimal model for Hund metals, the orbital-symmetric three-band Hubbard-Hund model (3HHM) for a lattice filling of 1/3. Hund-correlated metals are characterized by spin-orbital separation (SOS), a Hund's-rule-induced two-stage Kondo-type screening process, in which spin screening occurs at much lower energy scales than orbital screening. By contrast, in Mott-correlated metals, lying close to the phase boundary of a metal-insulator transition, the SOS window becomes n…
We study the photoinduced breakdown of a two-orbital Mott insulator and resulting metallic state. Using time-dependent density matrix renormalization group, we scrutinize the real-time dynamics of the half-filled two-orbital Hubbard model interacting with a resonant radiation field pulse. The breakdown, caused by production of doublon-holon pairs, is enhanced by Hund's exchange, which dynamically activates large orbital fluctuations. The melting of the Mott insulator is accompanied by a high to low spin transition with a concomitant reduction of antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations. Most notabl…
We study the one-dimensional $S=1/2$ Heisenberg model with a uniform and a staggered magnetic fields, using the dynamical density-matrix renormalization group (DDMRG) technique. The DDMRG enables us to investigate the dynamical properties of chain with lengths up to a few hundreds, and the results are numerically exact in the same sense as 'exact diagonalization' results are. Thus, we can analyze the low-energy spectrum almost in the thermodynamic limit. In this work, we calculate the dynamical spin structure factor and demonstrate the performance of the DDMRG method applying the open-end boun…
We investigate the ground-state property of a one-dimensional two-orbital Hubbard model at quarter filling by numerical techniques such as the density-matrix renormalization group method and the exact diagonalization. When the Hund's rule coupling $J$ is zero, the model is SU(4) symmetric. In fact, both spin and orbital correlations have a peak at $q=π/2$, indicating an SU(4) singlet state with a four-site periodicity. On the other hand, with increasing $J$, it is found that the peak position of the orbital correlation changes to $q=π$, while that of the spin correlation remains at $q=π/2$. We…
We study Kitaev model in one-dimension with open boundary condition by using exact analytic methods for non-interacting system at zero chemical potential as well as in the symmetric case of Δ = t, and by using density-matrix-renormalizationgroup method for interacting system with nearest neighbor repulsion interaction. We suggest and examine an edge correlation function of Majorana fermions to characterize the long range order in the topological superconducting states and study the phase diagram of the interating Kitaev chain.
We study the ground-state properties of an extended periodic Anderson model to understand the role of Hund's coupling between localized and itinerant electrons using the density-matrix renormalization group algorithm. By calculating the von Neumann entropies we show that two phase transitions occur and two new phases appear as the hybridization is increased in the symmetric half-filled case due to the competition between Kondo-effect and Hund's coupling. In the intermediate phase, which is bounded by two critical points, we found a dimerized ground state, while in the other spatially homogeneo…
Motivated by the discovery of superconductivity in the two-leg, quasi-one dimensional ladder compound, BaFe$_2$S$_3$ we present a renormalization group study of electrons moving on a two leg, two orbital ladder, subjected to Hubbard repulsion $U$ and Hund's coupling $J$. In our calculations, we adopt tightbinding parameters obtained from ab-initio studies on this material. At incommensurate filling, the long wavelength analysis displays four phases as a function of $0 \leq J/U <1$. We show that a fully gapped superconductor is stabilized at sufficiently large Hund's coupling, the relative phas…
We propose an analytic response theory for the density matrix renormalization group whereby response properties correspond to analytic derivatives of density matrix renormalization group observables with respect to the applied perturbations. Both static and frequency-dependent response theories are formulated and implemented. We evaluate our pilot implementation by calculating static and frequency dependent polarizabilities of short oligo-di-acetylenes. The analytic response theory is competitive with dynamical density matrix renormalization group methods and yields significantly improved accu…
We investigate the electronic structure of a perovskite-type Pauli paramagnet SrMoO3 (t2g2) thin film using hard x-ray photoemission spectroscopy and compare the results to the realistic calculations that combine the density functional theory within the local-density approximation (LDA) with the dynamical-mean field theory (DMFT). Despite the clear signature of electron correlations in the electronic specific heat, the narrowing of the quasiparticle bands is not observed in the photoemission spectrum. This is explained in terms of the characteristic effect of Hund's rule coupling for partially…
We explore the predictions of the renormalized perturbation theory for an n-channel Anderson model, both with and without Hund's rule coupling, in the regime away from particle-hole symmetry. For the model with n=2 we deduce the renormalized parameters from numerical renormalization group calculations, and plot them as a function of the occupation at the impurity site, nd. From these we deduce the spin, orbital and charge susceptibilities, Wilson ratios and quasiparticle density of states at T=0, in the different parameter regimes, which gives a comprehensive overview of the low energy behavio…
Orbital differentiation is a common theme in multiorbital systems, yet a complete understanding of it is still missing. Here, we consider a minimal model for orbital differentiation in Hund metals with a highly accurate method: We use the numerical renormalization group as a real-frequency impurity solver for a dynamical mean-field study of three-orbital Hubbard models, where a crystal field shifts one orbital in energy. The individual phases are characterized with dynamic correlation functions and their relation to diverse Kondo temperatures. Upon approaching the orbital-selective Mott transi…
We investigate the ground-state property and the excitation gap of a one-dimensional spin-orbital model with isotropic spin and anisotropic orbital exchange interactions, which represents the strong-coupling limit of a two-orbital Hubbard model including the Hund's rule coupling ($J$) at quarter filling, by using a density-matrix renormalization group method. At J=0, spin and orbital correlations coincide with each other with a peak at $q=π/2$, corresponding to the SU(4) singlet state. On the other hand, spin and orbital states change in a different way due to the Hund's rule coupling. With in…
Due to the separation between the spin and the orbital screening scales, the normal state of Hund's metals at ambient temperature can be loosely characterized as a partially coherent state with fluctuating spins and quenched orbital moments. With the aim to characterize this situation more precisely, we investigate the Kondo-Kanamori impurity model that describes the low-energy local physics of three-orbital Hund's metals occupied by two or four electrons. Within this model one can diminish the mixed spin-orbital terms and thereby enhance the separation between the two screening scales, allowi…
Hund metals are multi-orbital systems with moderate Coulomb interaction, $U$, and sizeable Hund's rule coupling, $J<U$, that aligns the spins in different orbitals. They show strong correlation effects, like very low Fermi-liquid coherence scales and intriguing incoherent transport regimes, resulting in bad metallic behavior. But to what extent are these strong correlations governed by Mottness, i.e. the blocking of charge fluctuations close to a Mott insulator transition (MIT) induced by $U$, or by Hundness, a new route towards strong correlations induced by $J$? To answer this question, we s…
By means of the density functional theory in combination with the dynamical mean-field theory, we tried to examine the electronic structure of hexagonal FeGe, in which the Fe atoms form a quasi-2D layered Kagome lattice. We predict that it is a representative Kagome metal characterized by orbital selective Dirac fermions and extremely flat bands. Furthermore, Fe's 3$d$ electrons are strongly correlated. They exhibit quite apparent signatures of electronic correlation induced by Hund's rule coupling, such as sizable differentiation in band renormalization, non-Fermi-liquid behavior, spin-freezi…
We extend the renormalized perturbation theory for the single impurity Anderson model to the n-channel model with a Hund's rule coupling, and show that the exact results for the spin, orbital and charge susceptibilities, as well as the leading low temperature dependence for the resistivity, are obtained by working to second order in the renormalized couplings. A universal relation is obtained between the renormalized parameters, independent of n, in the Kondo regime. An expression for the dynamic spin susceptibility is also derived by taking into account repeated quasiparticle scattering, whic…
Hund metals have attracted attention in recent years due to their unconventional superconductivity, which supposedly originates from non-Fermi-liquid (NFL) properties of the normal state. When studying Hund metals using dynamical mean-field theory, one arrives at a self-consistent "Hund impurity problem" involving a multiorbital quantum impurity with nonzero Hund coupling interacting with a metallic bath. If its spin and orbital degrees of freedom are screened at different energy scales, $T_\mathrm{sp} < T_\mathrm{orb}$, the intermediate energy window is governed by a novel NFL fixed point, wh…
We report a quantum phase transition between orbital-selective Mott states, with different localized orbitals, in a Hund's metals model. Using the density matrix renormalization group, the phase diagram is constructed varying the electronic density and Hubbard $U$, at robust Hund's coupling. We demonstrate that this transition is preempted by charge fluctuations and the emergence of free spinless fermions, as opposed to the magnetically-driven Mott transition. The Luttinger correlation exponent is shown to have a universal value in the strong-coupling phase, whereas it is interaction dependent…
We present a functional renormalization group approach to the zero bias transport properties of a quantum dot with two different orbitals and in presence of Hund's coupling. Tuning the energy separation of the orbital states, the quantum dot can be driven through a singlet-triplet transition. Our approach, based on the approach by Karrasch {\em et al} which we apply to spin-dependent interactions, recovers the key characteristics of the quantum dot transport properties with very little numerical effort. We present results on the conductance in the vicinity of the transition and compare our res…
Studies of the effects of the Hund's rule coupling J_H in multiple orbit impurities or quantum dots using different models have led to quite different predictions for the Kondo temperature T_K as a function of J_H. We show that the differences depend on whether or not the models conserve orbital angular momentum about the impurity site. Using numerical renormalization group (NRG) calculations, we deduce the renormalized parameters for the Fermi liquid regime, and show that, despite the differences between the models, the low energy fixed point in the strong correlation regime is universal with…
The generalized Hubbard model is an important theoretical model for modeling strongly correlated materials. To be able to theoretically predict the properties of the materials, the model requires Hubbard's $U$ and Hund's $J$ parameter that represent the on-site Coulomb and exchange interaction, respectively. For bare Coulomb interactions, the analytic expression of $U$ and $J$ are analytically described by Racah's $A,B,C$ parameters. However, the values of $U$ are too large for transition-metal-based materials. To obtain more accurate values for realistic materials, we employ a Yukawa-type scr…
In Hund's metals, the local ferromagnetic interaction between orbitals leads to an emergence of complex electronic states with large and slowly fluctuating magnetic moments. Introducing the Hund's coupled mixed valence quantum impurity, we gain analytic insight into recent numerical renormalization group studies. We show that valence fluctuations drastically impede the development of a large fluctuating moment over a wide range of temperatures and energy, characterized by quenched orbital degrees of freedom and a singular logarithmic behavior of the spin susceptibility $χ_{\rm sp}''(ω) \propto…
We study non-equilibrium current fluctuations through a quantum dot, which includes a ferromagnetic Hund's rule coupling $J$, in the low-energy Fermi liquid regime using the renormalized perturbation theory. The resulting cumulant for the current distribution in the particle-hole symmetric case, shows that spin-triplet and spin-singlet pairs of quasiparticles are formed in the current due to the Hund's rule coupling and these pairs enhance the current fluctuations. In the fully screened higher-spin Kondo limit, the Fano factor takes a value $F_b = (9M+6)/ (5M+4)$ determined by the orbital dege…
We investigate superconducting pairing driven by electron-electron interactions in a theoretical model for monolayer MoS$_2$ with the temperature-flow functional renormalization group(fRG). At low doping, the dominant instability is toward odd-parity pairing with $f$-wave Mo-nearest-neighbor structure. We compute the fRG phase diagram versus electron doping below the van Hove filling of the conduction band. In the superconducting regime, the critical temperature grows with doping, comparable to the experiments. Near van Hove filling the system favors a ferromagnetic state. We demonstrate that …
We analyze the electronic properties of interacting crystal field split three band systems. Using a rotationally invariant slave boson approach we analyze the behavior of the electronic mass renormalization as a function of the intralevel repulsion $U$, the Hund's coupling $J$, the crystal field splitting, and the number of electrons per site $n$. We first focus on the case in which two of the bands are identical and the levels of the third one are shifted by $Δ>0$ with respect to the former. We find an increasing quasiparticle mass differentiation between the bands, for system away from half-…
Using one-orbital model of hole-doped manganites, we show with the help of Holstein-Primakov transformation that finite Hund's coupling is responsible for the spin-wave softening in the ferromagnetic $B$-phase manganites. We obtain an analytical result for the spin-wave spectrum for $\JH\gg t$. In the limit of infinte Hund's coupling, the spectrum is the conventional nearest-neighbor Heisenberg ferromagnetic spin-wave. The $o(t/\JH)$-order correction is negative and thus accounts for the softening near the zone boundary.
Electronic Coulomb correlations lead to characteristic signatures in the spectroscopy of transition metal pnictides and chalcogenides: quasi-particle renormalizations, lifetime effects or incoherent badly metallic behavior above relatively low coherence temperatures are measures of many-body effects due to local Hubbard and Hund's couplings. We review and compare the results of angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy experiments (ARPES) and of combined density functional dynamical mean field theory (DFT+DMFT) calculations. We emphasize the doping-dependence of the quasi-particle mass renorma…
Using the Density Matrix Renormalization Group technique we study the effect of spin-orbit coupling on a three-orbital Hubbard model in the $(t_{2g})^{4}$ sector and in one dimension. Fixing the Hund coupling to a robust value compatible with some multiorbital materials, we present the phase diagram varying the Hubbard $U$ and spin-orbit coupling $λ$, at zero temperature. Our results are shown to be qualitatively similar to those recently reported using the Dynamical Mean Field Theory in higher dimensions, providing a robust basis to approximate many-body techniques. Among many results, we obs…
Using functional renormalization group we investigated possible superconductivity in doped Sr$_2$IrO$_4$. In the electron doped case, a $d^*_{x^2-y^2}$-wave superconducting phase is found in a narrow doping region. The pairing is driven by spin fluctuations within the single conduction band. In contrast, for hole doping an $s^*_{\pm}$-wave phase is established, triggered by spin fluctuations within and across the two conduction bands. In all cases there are comparable singlet and triplet components in the pairing function. The Hund's rule coupling reduces (enhances) superconductivity for elect…
The low temperature thermodynamics of correlated 1D fermionic models with spin and charge degrees of freedom is obtained by exact diagonalization (ED) of small systems and followed by density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) calculations that target the lowest hundreds of states $\{E(N)\}$ at system size $N$ instead of the ground state. Progressively larger $N$ reaches $T < 0.05t$ in correlated models with electron transfer $t$ between first neighbors and bandwidth $4t$. The size dependence of the many-fermion basis is explicitly included for arbitrary interactions by scaling the partition …
The two-band Hubbard model involving subbands of different widths is investigated via finite-temperature exact diagonalization (ED) and dynamical mean field theory (DMFT). In contrast to the quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) method which at low temperatures includes only Ising-like exchange interactions to avoid sign problems, ED permits a treatment of Hund's exchange and other onsite Coulomb interactions on the same footing. The role of finite-size effects caused by the limited number of bath levels in this scheme is studied by analyzing the low-frequency behavior of the subband self-energies as a fu…
We study LiFeP, LiFeAs and NaFeAs in their paramagnetic metallic phase including dynamical electronic correlations within a density functional theory + slave-spin mean-field framework. The three compounds are found to lie next to the crossover between a normal and a Hund's metal, where a region of enhanced electronic compressibility that may boost superconductivity is systematically present in this type of systems. We find that LiFeP lies in the normal metallic regime, LiFeAs at the crossover, and NaFeAs is in the Hund's metal regime, which possibly explains the different experimental trends f…
Different models for doping of two-orbital chains with mobile $S=1/2$ fermions and strong, ferromagnetic (FM) Hund's rule couplings stabilizing the S=1 spins are investigated by density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) methods. The competition between antiferromagnetic (AF) and FM order leads to a rich phase diagram with a narrow FM region for weak AF couplings and strongly enhanced triplet pairing correlations. Without a level difference between the orbitals, the spin gap persists upon doping, whereas gapless spin excitations are generated by interactions among itinerant polarons in the pr…
Mesoscopic spin ensembles coupled to a cavity offer the exciting prospect of observing complex nonclassical phenomena that pool the microscopic features from a few spins with those of macroscopic spin ensembles. Here, we demonstrate how the collective interactions in an ensemble of as many as hundred spins can be harnessed to obtain a periodic pulse train of nonclassical light. To unravel the full quantum dynamics and photon statistics, we develop a time-adaptive variational renormalization group method that accurately captures the underlying Lindbladian dynamics of the mesoscopic spin-cavity …
Quantum impurity problems can be solved using the numerical renormalization group (NRG), which involves discretizing the free conduction electron system and mapping to a `Wilson chain'. It was shown recently that Wilson chains for different electronic species can be interleaved by use of a modified discretization, dramatically increasing the numerical efficiency of the RG scheme [Phys. Rev. B 89, 121105(R) (2014)]. Here we systematically examine the accuracy and efficiency of the `interleaved' NRG (iNRG) method in the context of the single impurity Anderson model, the two-channel Kondo model, …
We investigate the spinless Anderson-Holstein model routinely employed to describe the basic physics of phonon-assisted tunneling in molecular devices. Our focus is on small to intermediate electron-phonon coupling; we complement a recent strong coupling study [Phys.~Rev.~B {87}, 075319 (2013)]. The entire crossover from the antiadiabatic regime to the adiabatic one is considered. Our analysis using the essentially analytical functional renormalization group approach backed-up by numerical renormalization group calculations goes beyond lowest order perturbation theory in the electron-phonon co…
We introduce a Lagrangian formulation of the Density Matrix Renormalization Group (DMRG). We present Lagrangians which when minimised yield the optimal DMRG wavefunction in a variational sense, both within the general matrix product ansatz, as well as within the canonical form of the matrix product that is constructed within the DMRG sweep algorithm. Some of the results obtained are similar to elementary expressions in Hartree-Fock theory, and we draw attention to such analogies. The Lagrangians introduced here will be useful in developing theories of analytic response and derivatives in the D…
We theoretically study the electromagnetic interaction in Dirac systems with $N$ nodes by using the renormalization group, which is relevant to the quantum critical phenomena of topological phase transition ($N=1$) and Weyl semimetals ($N=4$ or $N=12$). Compared with the previous work for $N=1$ [H. Isobe and N. Nagaosa, Phys. Rev. B 86, 165127 (2012); arXiv:1205.2427], we obtained the analytic solution for the large $N$ limit, which differs qualitatively for the scaling of the speed of light $c$ and that of electron $v$, i.e., $v$ does notchange while $c$ is reduced to $v$. We also found a rea…
We investigate the 5d transition metal oxide BaOsO$_3$ within a combination of density functional theory (DFT) and dynamical mean-field theory (DMFT), using a matrix-product-state impurity solver. BaOsO$_3$ has 4 electrons in the t$_{2g}$ shell akin to ruthenates but stronger spin-orbit coupling (SOC) and is thus expected to reveal an interplay of Hund's metal behavior with SOC. We explore the paramagnetic phase diagram as a function of SOC and Hubbard interaction strengths, identifying metallic, band (van-Vleck) insulating and Mott insulating regions. At the physical values of the two couplin…
Using a real-time renormalization group method we study the minimal model of a quantum dot dominated by charge fluctuations, the two-lead interacting resonant level model, at finite bias voltage. We develop a set of RG equations to treat the case of weak and strong charge fluctuations, together with the determination of power-law exponents up to second order in the Coulomb interaction. We derive analytic expressions for the charge susceptibility, the steady-state current and the conductance in the situation of arbitrary system parameters, in particular away from the particle-hole symmetric poi…
We introduce a simple, exactly solvable strong-randomness renormalization group (RG) model for the many-body localization (MBL) transition in one dimension. Our approach relies on a family of RG flows parametrized by the asymmetry between thermal and localized phases. We identify the physical MBL transition in the limit of maximal asymmetry, reflecting the instability of MBL against rare thermal inclusions. We find a critical point that is localized with power-law distributed thermal inclusions. The typical size of critical inclusions remains finite at the transition, while the average size is…
We present an approximate scheme for analytical gradients and nonadiabatic couplings for calculating state-average density matrix renormalization group self-consistent-field wavefunction. Our formalism follows closely the state-average complete active space self-consistent-field (SA-CASSCF) \emph{ansatz}, which employs a Lagrangian, and the corresponding Lagrange multipliers are obtained from a solution of the coupled-perturbed CASSCF (CP-CASSCF) equations. We introduce a definition of the matrix product state (MPS) Lagrange multipliers based on a single-site tensor in a mixed-canonical form o…
We perform a two-loop renormalization group (RG) analysis of a 2D effective multiband model, which is relevant for describing the low-energy properties of some iron-chalcogenide superconducting materials. Crucial ingredients in this analysis are the calculation of higher-order contributions in the RG scheme that go beyond the widely-used parquet approximation and the consequent inclusion of nontrivial self-energy effects of the model that yield an anisotropic renormalization of the quasiparticle weight in the system. The motivation of our work is the experimental discovery by Sprau et al. (201…
We study numerically and analytically the dynamical (AC) conductance through a two-dot system, where only one of the dots is coupled to the leads but it is also side-coupled to the other dot through an antiferromagnetic exchange (RKKY) interaction. In this case the RKKY interaction gives rise to a ``two-stage Kondo effect'' where the two spins are screened by two consecutive Kondo effects. We formulate a renormalized scaling theory that captures remarkably well the cross-over from the strongly conductive correlated regime to the low temperature low conductance state. Our analytical formulas ag…
