We analyze the observational potential of single $t'$ production in both the $t^\prime \rightarrow bW$ and $t^\prime \rightarrow th$ decay channels at 8 TeV LHC using an integrated luminosity of 25 $\text{fb}^{-1}$. Our analysis is based on a simplified model with minimal coset $SO(5)/SO(4)$ in which the $t'$ is a singlet of the unbroken SO(4). The single $t'$ production, as a consequence of electroweak symmetry breaking, is less kinematically suppressed, associated with a light forward jet and has boosted decay products at the 8 TeV LHC. Therefore it provides the most promising channel in searching for a heavy $t'$. We have exploited the above kinematical features and used the jet substructure method to reconstruct the boosted Higgs in $th$ decay channel. It is shown that a strong constraint on the $t^\prime bW$ coupling ($g_{t^\prime bW}/g_{tbW,SM} < 0.2 \sim 0.3$) at the 95% C. L. can be obtained for $m_{t'} \subset (700, 1000)$ GeV.
We exploit all LHC available Run 2 data at center-of-mass energies of 8 and 13 TeV for searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. We scrutinize the allowed parameter space of Little Higgs models with the concrete symmetry of T-parity by providing comprehensive analyses of all relevant production channels of heavy vectors, top partners, heavy quarks and heavy leptons and all phenomenologically relevant decay channels. Constraints on the model will be derived from the signatures of jets and missing energy or leptons and missing energy. Besides the symmetric case, we also study the case of T…
Little Higgs models - which can most easily be thought of as a variant of composite Higgs models - explain a light Higgs boson at 125 GeV as an pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson of a spontaneously broken global symmetry. The mechanism of collective symmetry breaking shifts the UV scale of these models to the 10 TeV scale and higher. T-parity is introduced as a discrete symmetry to remove tree-level constraints on the electroweak precision data. Still after run 1 of LHC, electroweak precision observables gave stronger constraints than Higgs data and direct searches. We present a full recast of all a…
The search for the effects of heavy fermions in the extension of the Standard Model with a fourth generation is part of the experimental program of the Tevatron and LHC experiments. Besides being directly produced, these states affect drastically the production and decay properties of the Higgs boson. In this note, we first reemphasize the known fact that in the case of a light and long-lived fourth neutrino, the present collider searches do not permit to exclude a Higgs boson with a mass below the WW threshold. In a second step, we show that the recent results from the ATLAS and CMS collabora…
In models of composite Higgs dynamics new composite pseudoscalars can interact with the Higgs and electroweak gauge bosons via anomalous interactions, stemming from the topological sector of the underlying theory. We show that a future 100 TeV proton-proton collider (FCC-pp) will be able to test this important sector and thus shed light on the strong dynamics which generates the Higgs and other composite states. To elucidate our results we focus on the topological interactions of a minimal composite Higgs model with a fermionic ultraviolet completion, based on the coset $\text{SU}(4)/\text{Sp}…
We perform a joint analysis of the prediction of composite Higgs models for the discrepancies of the forward-backward asymmetries of top and bottom quarks at Tevatron and LEP+SLC, respectively. We build a two sector model which can be thought as an effective low energy description of 5D warped models and choose the quantum numbers of the fermionic resonances to protect the Z-couplings of the partially composite Standard Model light quarks. We analyze the cross section, forward-backward asymmetry and invariant mass distribution of the top anti-top production at Tevatron, as well as the bottom f…
A method is proposed to directly probe the Higgs boson compositeness using the unique characteristics of a boosted Higgs boson produced in association with a weak gauge boson ($W^{\pm},Z$). The discovery potential for the upcoming LHC running is presented, showing that compositeness scales up to 3 TeV can be probed at the LHC with an integrated luminosity of $\mathcal{L}=3000$ fb$^{-1}$ collected at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV.
In the framework of the unified compositeness of leptons, quarks and Higgs bosons, the hidden local symmetry \hat H_{loc}= SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y with the heavy composite vector bosons, in addition to the SM gauge bosons, is briefly described. Supplementary hypothesis of the vector boson dominance (VBD) of the SM gauge interactions is considered. It is argued that this should produce the universal dominant residual interactions of the SM composite particles, i.e., all of the fermions and Higgs bosons. Restrictions on the universal residual fermion-fermion, fermion-boson and boson-boson interacti…
Extrapolating the Standard Model to high scales using the renormalisation group, three possibilities arise, depending on the mass of the Higgs boson: if the Higgs mass is large enough the Higgs self-coupling may blow up, entailing some new non-perturbative dynamics; if the Higgs mass is small the effective potential of the Standard Model may reveal an instability; or the Standard Model may survive all the way to the Planck scale for an intermediate range of Higgs masses. This latter case does not necessarily require stability at all times, but includes the possibility of a metastable vacuum wh…
A new physics scenario shows that four-fermion operators of Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) type have a strong-coupling UV fixed point, where composite fermions $F$ (bosons $Π$) form as bound states of three (two) SM elementary fermions and they couple to their constituents via effective contact interactions at the composite scale $Λ\approx {\cal O} $(TeV). We present a phenomenological study to investigate such composite particles at the LHC by computing the production cross sections and decay widths of composite fermions in the context of the relevant experiments at the LHC with $pp$ collisions at …
We construct a class of two Higgs doublets models with a 4th sequential generation of fermions that may effectively accommodate the low energy characteristics and phenomenology of a dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking scenario which is triggered by the condensates of the 4th family fermions. In particular, we single out the heavy quarks by coupling the "heavier" Higgs doublet (Φ_h) which possesses a much larger VEV only to them while the "lighter" doublet (Φ_l) couples only to the light fermions. We study the constraints on these models from precision electroweak data as well as from flavo…
We explore the possibility that the right-handed top quark is composite. We examine the consequences that compositeness would have on $t \bar{t}$ production at the Tevatron, and derive a weak constraint on the scale of compositeness of order a few hundred GeV from the $t \bar{t}$ inclusive cross section. More detailed studies of differential properties of $t \bar{t}$ production could potentially improve this limit. We find that a composite top can result in an enhancement of the $t \bar{t} t \bar{t}$ production rate at the LHC (of as much as $10^3$ compared to the Standatd Model four top rate)…
In this paper, we discuss the signal of composite spin-1 resonances at the LHC. Motivated by the possible observation of a diboson resonance in the 8 TeV LHC data, we demonstrate that vector resonances from composite Higgs models are able to describe the data. We pay particular attention to the role played by fermion partial compositeness, which is a common feature in composite Higgs models. The parameter space that is both able to account for the diboson excess and passes electroweak precision and flavor tests is explored. Finally, we make projections for signals of such resonances at the 13 …
If the Higgs boson $H(125)$ is a composite due to new strong interactions at high energy, it has spin-one partners, $ρ_H$ and $a_H$, analogous to the $ρ$ and $a_1$ mesons of QCD. These bosons are heavy, their mass determined by the strong interaction scale. The strongly interacting particles light enough for $ρ_H$ and $a_H$ to decay to are the longitudinal weak bosons $V_L = W_L,\, Z_L$ and the Higgs boson $H$. These decay signatures are consistent with resonant diboson excesses recently reported near 2 TeV by ATLAS and CMS. We calculate $σ\times BR(ρ_H \to VV) =$ few fb and $σ\times BR(a_H \t…
If the top quark is a composite state made out of some constituents, its interaction with the gluon will be modified. We introduce the leading effective operators that contribute to the radius and anomalous magnetic moment of the top quark and study their effect on the cross section for top anti-top production at the Tevatron and the LHC. Current measurements of the cross sections set a stringent limit on the scale of compositeness. This limit is comparable to similar limits obtained for light quarks and those from electroweak precision measurements. It can be used to constrain the parameter s…
Within composite Higgs models based on the top seesaw mechanism, we show that the Higgs field can arise as the pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson of the broken U(3)_L chiral symmetry associated with a vector-like quark and the t-b doublet. As a result, the lightest CP-even neutral state of the composite scalar sector is lighter than the top quark, and can be identified as the newly discovered Higgs boson. Constraints on weak isospin violation push the chiral symmetry breaking scale above a few TeV, implying that other composite scalars are probably too heavy to be probed at the LHC, but may be withi…
Many composite Higgs models predict the existence of vector-like quarks with masses outside the reach of the LHC, e.g. $m_Q \gtrsim 2$ TeV, in particular if these models contain a dark matter candidate. In such models the mass of the new resonances is bounded from above to satisfy the constraint from the observed relic density. We therefore develop new strategies to search for vector-like quarks at a future $100$ TeV collider and evaluate what masses and interactions can be probed. We find that masses as large as $\sim 6.4$ ($\sim 9$) TeV can be tested if the fermionic resonances decay into St…
In scenarios of strongly coupled electroweak symmetry breaking, heavy composite particles of different spin and parity may arise and cause observable effects on signals that appear at loop levels. The recently observed process of Higgs to $γγ$ at the LHC is one of such signals. We study the new constraints that are imposed on composite models from $H\to γγ$, together with the existing constraints from the high precision electroweak tests. We use an effective chiral Lagrangian to describe the effective theory that contains the Standard Model spectrum and the extra composites below the electrowe…
Dark Matter could be a composite state of a confining sector with an approximate scale symmetry. We consider the case where the associated pseudo-Goldstone boson, the dilaton, mediates its interactions with the Standard Model. When the confining phase transition in the early universe is supercooled, its dynamics allows for Dark Matter masses up to $10^6$ TeV. We derive the precise parameter space compatible with all experimental constraints, finding that this scenario can be tested partly by telescopes and entirely by gravitational waves.
We analyze the collider signals of composite scalars that emerge in certain little Higgs models and models of vectorlike confinement. Similar to the decay of the pion into photon pairs, these scalars mainly decay through anomaly-induced interactions into electroweak gauge bosons, leading to a distinct signal with three or more photons in the final state. We study the standard model backgrounds for these signals, and find that the LHC can discover these models over a large range of parameter space with 30 fb$^{-1}$ at 14 TeV. An early discovery at the current 7 TeV run is possible in some regio…
We apply a recently proposed mechanism -- in which an SU(3) symmetry predicts the weak mixing angle -- to construct realistic theories with composite quarks and leptons at a TeV. Although the models are strongly coupled, they are reliably analyzed using complementarity and 't Hooft's anomaly matching. In the simplest models the right-handed fermions are composite, while the left-handed are elementary. Strong SU(2)_R forces give rise to 12-particle instanton-mediated processes. They violate baryon and lepton numbers by three units and result in spectacular multilepton and multijet events at the…
The Gildener-Weinberg (GW) mechanism produces a Higgs boson $H$ that is a dilaton. That is, $H$ is both naturally light and naturally aligned. It also predicts additional singly-charged and neutral Higgs bosons all of whose masses are $< 500\,{\rm GeV}$ and, therefore, within reach of the LHC now. I argue that the GW Higgs is composite -- a bound state of fermions whose strong interactions are at some high, unknown scale $Λ_H > 1\,{\rm TeV}$. The lone harbingers of $H$ compositeness, ones that may be accessible at the next multi-TeV collider, are isovector vector $ρ_H$ and axial vector $a_H$ b…
We present a further study of the dynamics of high-dimension fermion operators attributed to the theoretical inconsistency of the fundamental cutoff (quantum gravity) and the parity-violating gauge symmetry of the standard model. Studying the phase transition from a symmetry-breaking phase to a strong-coupling symmetric phase and the $β$-function behavior in terms of four-fermion coupling strength, we discuss the critical transition point as a ultraviolet-stable fixed point where a quantum field theory preserving the standard model gauge symmetry with composite particles can be realized. The f…
In this paper we present a detailed analysis of the Electroweak Precision Observables (EWPO) in composite Higgs models based on the coset $SO(5)/SO(4)$. In our study we include both the fermionic top partners and the spin-1 resonances and consider their possible interplay as well. In order to achieve calculability we use the assumptions of i) partial Ultra Violet Completion (PUVC) following arXiv:1109.1570 and, ii) absence of sizeable effects from physics above the cut-off. Apart from the EWPO, we also take into account the constraints from the top quark, $Z$ and the Higgs boson masses wheneve…

We estimate the reach of the 14 TeV LHC and future hadronic and leptonic colliders in the parameter space of the minimal composite Higgs model, outlining the complementarity of direct resonance searches and indirect information from the measurements of the Higgs boson couplings. The reach on electroweak charged spin-one resonances, taken here as representative direct signatures, is obtained from the current 8 TeV LHC limits by an extrapolation procedure which we outline and validate. The impact of electroweak precision tests, and their possible improvement at future colliders, is also quantifi…
Composite Higgs models, where the Higgs boson is identified with the pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone-Boson (pNGB) of a strong sector, typically have light composite fermions (top partners) to account for a light Higgs. This type of models generically also predicts the existence of heavy vector fields (composite gluons) which appear as an octet of QCD. These composite gluons generically become very broad resonances once phase-space allows them to decay into two composite fermions. This makes their traditional experimental searches, which are designed to look for narrow resonances, quite ineffective. In …
We propose a new search strategy for quark partners which decay into a boosted Higgs and a light quark. As an example, we consider phenomenologically viable right handed up-type quark partners of mass $\sim 1$ TeV in composite pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone-boson Higgs models within the context of flavorful naturalness. Our results show that $S/B > 1$ and signal significance of $\sim 7σ$ is achievable at $\sqrt{s} = 14$ TeV LHC with 35 $fb^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, sufficient to claim discovery of a new particle. A combination of a multi-dimensional boosted Higgs tagging technique, kinematics of…
A possible composite nature of the Higgs could be revealed at the early stage of the LHC, by analyzing the channels where the Higgs is produced from the decay of a heavy fermion. The Higgs production from a singly-produced heavy bottom, in particular, proves to be a promising channel. For a value λ=3 of the Higgs coupling to a heavy bottom, for example, we find that, considering a 125 GeV Higgs which decays into a pair of b-quarks, a discovery is possible at the 8 TeV LHC with 30 fb^{-1} if the heavy bottom is lighter than roughly 530 GeV (while an observation is possible for heavy bottom mass…
Within a chiral $SU(15)$ gauge theory in which the Standard Model fermions are bound states of massless preons, we show that proton-decay operators are likely induced at the compositeness scale, $Λ_{\rm pre}$. Our estimate of the limit imposed by searches for proton decays is $Λ_{\rm pre} > 10^4 \, {\rm TeV}^{1/2} \, C_8^{1/4} \, m_{\cal Q}^{1/2}$, where $C_8$ is a rescaled coefficient of an 8-prebaryon operator induced by $SU(15)$ dynamics, and $m_{\cal Q}$ is the mass of a composite vectorlike quark. The latter has a lower limit related to the mass of a composite vectorlike lepton, which in …
We consider a theory with composite top quarks but an elementary Higgs boson. The hierarchy problem can be solved by supplementing TeV scale top compositeness with either supersymmetry or Higgs compositeness appearing at the multi-TeV scale. The Higgs boson couples to uncolored partons within the top quark. We study how this approach can give rise to a novel screening effect that suppresses production of the colored top partners at the LHC. Strong constraints arise from Z to bb, as well potentially from flavor physics. Independent of flavor considerations, current constraints imply a composite…
I describe, from the bottom up, a sequence of natural effective field theories. Below a TeV we have the minimal standard model with a light Higgs, and an extra neutral scalar. In the 1-10 TeV region these scalars are part of a multiplet of pseudo Nambu-Goldstone Bosons. Interactions with additional TeV mass scalars, gauge bosons, and vector-like charge 2/3 quarks stabilize the Higgs mass squared parameter without finetuning. Electroweak superconductivity may be determined in this effective theory as a UV insensitive vacuum alignment problem. Above the 10 TeV scale we have strongly coupled new …
Assuming the existence of a heavy Majorana neutral particle arising from a composite model scenario we discuss the constraints imposed by present experimental limits of half-life neutrinoless double beta decay $(0νββ) $ measurements on the coupling of the heavy composite neutrinos to the gauge bosons. For neutrino masses $M_N = 1 $ TeV we obtain a rather weak lower bound on the compositeness scale: $Λ\ge 0.23 $ TeV.
We consider a minimal model where the Higgs boson arises as an elementary pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson. The model is based on an extended scalar sector with global SO(5)/SO(4) symmetry. To achieve the correct electroweak symmetry breaking pattern, the model is augmented either with an explicit symmetry breaking term or an extra singlet scalar field. We consider separately both of these possibili- ties. We fit the model with the known particle spectrum at the electroweak scale and extrapolate to high energies using renormalization group. We find that the model can remain stable and perturbative…
Composite Higgs models are only now starting to be probed at the Large Hadron Collider by Higgs searches. We point out that new resonances, abundant in these models, can mediate new production mechanisms for the composite Higgs. The new channels involve the exchange of a massive color octet and single production of new fermion resonances with subsequent decays into the Higgs and a Standard Model quark. The sizable cross section and very distinctive kinematics allow for a very clean extraction of the signal over the background with high statistical significance. Heavy gluon masses up to 2.8 TeV…
The diphoton excesses at 750 GeV seen in the LHC data may be the first hint for new physics at the TeV scale. We discuss variations of the model considered earlier, in which one or more diphoton excesses arise from composite pseudo Nambu-Goldstone bosons (hidden pions) associated with new strong dynamics at the TeV scale. We study the case in which the 750 GeV excess arises from a unique hidden pion leading to a diphoton final state as well as the case in which it arises from one of the hidden pions decaying into diphotons. We consider SU(N), SO(N), and Sp(N) gauge groups for the strong dynami…
We consider a simple solution to explain the recent diboson excess observed by ATALS and CMS Collaborations in models with custodial symmetry $SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R \rightarrow SU(2)_c$. The $SU(2)_L$ triplet vector boson $ρ$ with mass range of $1.8 \sim 2$ TeV would be produced through the Drell-Yan process with sizable diboson decay branching to account for the excess. The other $SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R$ bidoublet axial vector boson $a$ would cancel all deviations of electroweak obervables induced by $ρ$ even if the SM fermions mix with some heavy vector like (composite) fermions which coupl…
The weak bosons consist of two fermions, bound by a new confining gauge force. The mass scale of this new interaction is determined. At energies below 0.5 TeV the standard electroweak theory is valid. A neutral isoscalar weak boson X must exist - its mass is less than 1 TeV. It will decay mainly into quark and lepton pairs and into two or three weak bosons. Above the mass of 1 TeV one finds excitations of the weak bosons, which mainly decay into pairs of weak bosons. Leptons and quarks consist of a fermion and a scalar. Pairs of leptons and pairs of quarks form resonances at very high energy.
Composite-fermion models predict excited quarks and leptons with mass scales which can potentially be observed at high-energy colliders like the LHC; the most recent exclusion limits from the CMS and ATLAS Collaborations corner excited-fermion masses and the compositeness scale to the multi-TeV range. At the same time, hypothetical composite Majorana neutrinos would lead to observable effects in neutrinoless double beta decay ($0νββ$) experiments. In this work, we show that the current composite-neutrino exclusion limit $M_N>4.6$ TeV, as extracted from direct searches at the LHC, can indeed be…
The weak bosons are bound states of two fermions and their antiparticles, denoted as haplons. The confinement scale of the associated gauge group SU(2) is of the order of 0.5 TeV. Besides the weak bosons there exist also new bosons, an SU(2)-triplet and a singlet, with a mass of the order of 0.5 TeV. The neutral singlet boson and its antiparticle are stable and provide the dark matter in the universe.
We describe a natural UV complete theory with a composite little Higgs. Below a TeV we have the minimal Standard Model with a light Higgs, and an extra neutral scalar. At the TeV scale there are additional scalars, gauge bosons, and vector-like charge 2/3 quarks, whose couplings to the Higgs greatly reduce the UV sensitivity of the Higgs potential. Stabilization of the Higgs mass squared parameter, without finetuning, occurs due to a softly broken shift symmetry--the Higgs is a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson. Above the 10 TeV scale the theory has new strongly coupled interactions. A perturbative…
We use the idea of partial compositeness in a minimal supersymmetric model to relate the fermion and sfermion masses. By assuming that the Higgs and third-generation matter is (mostly) elementary, while the first- and second-generation matter is (mostly) composite, the Yukawa coupling hierarchy can be explained by a linear mixing between elementary states and composite operators with large anomalous dimensions. If the composite sector also breaks supersymmetry, then composite sfermions such as selectrons are predicted to be much heavier than the lighter elementary stops. This inverted sfermion…
Twin Higgs models are economical extensions of the Standard Model that stabilize the electroweak scale. In these theories the Higgs field is a pseudo Nambu-Goldstone boson that is protected against radiative corrections up to scales of order 5 TeV by a discrete parity symmetry. We construct, for the first time, a class of composite twin Higgs models based on confining QCD-like dynamics. These theories naturally incoporate a custodial isospin symmetry and predict a rich spectrum of particles with masses of order a TeV that will be accessible at the LHC.
We consider the scenario of composite Higgs with partial compositeness to address the muon g-2 anomaly. We show that this anomaly is resolved by one-loop correction due to composite muon partners with mass scale of order TeVs and large Yukawa coupling to composite Higgs, which is different from interpretations of vectorlike lepton models. We present parameter space by imposing indirect constraints from precise measurements on Higgs, Z and oblique electroweak parameters. We analyze direct constraints in light of both Drell-Yan and Higgs-associated productions of the composite muon partners at h…
We study the discovery reach of the Tevatron and the LHC for detecting a Higgs boson (h), predicted in composite models of the electroweak symmetry breaking or in supersymmetric theories, with an enhanced b-quark Yukawa coupling via p \bar{p} / p p \to b \bbar h (\to b \bbar) + X. Our analysis shows that studying this process at the Tevatron Run II or the LHC can provide strong constraints on these models.
In composite Higgs models, new composite pseudoscalars can interact with the Higgs and with electroweak gauge bosons via anomalous interactions, which stem from the topological structure of the underlying theory. A future 100 TeV pp collider (FCC-pp) will be able to test these anomalous interactions and thus shed light on the strong dynamics which generates the Higgs and other composite resonances. We will discuss the topological interactions of a minimal composite Higgs model with fermionic ultraviolet completion, based on the coset SU(4)/Sp(4). We will indicate the strategy to test these int…

If electroweak symmetry breaking arises via strongly-coupled physics, the observed suppression of flavour-changing processes suggests that fermion masses should arise via mixing of elementary fermions with composite fermions of the strong sector. The strong sector then carries colour charge, and may contain composite leptoquark states, arising either as TeV scale resonances, or even as light, pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone bosons. The latter, since they are coupled to colour, get a mass of the order of several hundred GeV, beyond the reach of current searches at the Tevatron. The same generic mechanis…
Models with quark and lepton compositeness predict the existence of colored partners of the Standard Model leptons. In this paper we study the LHC phenomenology of a charged colored lepton partner, namely the color octet electron, $e_8$ in an effective theory framework. We explore various mechanisms for resonant production of $e_8$'s. With the pair production channel the 14 TeV LHC can probe $e_8$'s with masses up to 2.5 TeV (2.8 TeV) with 100 fb$^{-1}$ (300 fb$^{-1}$) of integrated luminosity. A common feature in all the resonant production channels is the presence of two high $p_T$ electrons…
We study the thermodynamic history of composite Dark Matter models. We start with classifying the models by means of the symmetries partially protecting the composite Dark Matter decays and constrain their lifetimes. For each model, we determine the impact of number-changing and number-conserving operators on its thermal history. We also develop the analytic formalism to calculate the asymptotic abundance of stable relics. We show how the relative strength between number-changing and number-conserving interactions together with the dark plasma lifetime affect the thermal fate of the various co…
In composite Higgs (CH) models, large mixings between the top quark and the new strongly interacting sector are required to generate its sizeable Yukawa coupling. Precise measurements involving top as well as left-handed bottom quarks therefore offer an interesting opportunity to probe such new physics scenarios. We study the impact of third-generation-quark pair production at future lepton colliders, translating prospective effective-field-theory sensitivities into the CH parameter space. Our results show that one can probe a significant fraction of the natural CH parameter space through the …
In composite Higgs models (CHMs), electroweak precision data generically push colourless composite vector resonances to a regime where they dominantly decay into pairs of light top partners. This greatly attenuates their traces in canonical collider searches, tailored for narrow resonances promptly decaying into Standard Model final states. By reinterpreting the CMS same-sign dilepton (SS2$\ell$) analysis at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), originally designed to search for top partners with electric charge $5/3$, we demonstrate its significant coverage over this kinematical regime. We also sh…
Supersymmetry searches at the LHC are both highly varied and highly constraining, but the vast majority are focused on cases where the final-stage visible decays are prompt. Scenarios featuring superparticles with detector-scale lifetimes have therefore remained a tantalizing possibility for sub-TeV SUSY, since explicit limits are relatively sparse. Nonetheless, the extremely low backgrounds of the few existing searches for collider-stable and displaced new particles facilitates recastings into powerful long-lived superparticle searches, even for models for which those searches are highly non-…
Neutrinoless double beta decay $(\b\b)_{0ν}$ occurs through the magnetic coupling of dimension five, $λ_W^{(ν*)}/m_{ν*}$, among the excited electron neutrino $ν^*$, electron and $W$ boson if $ν^*$ is a massive Majorana neutrino. If the coupling is not small, i.e., $λ_W^{(ν*)}>1$ the mass of the excited neutrino must not be gless than the $Z$ boson mass, $m_Z$. Since $ν^*$ contributes in the $(\b\b)_{0ν}$ decay as a vertual state, this decay will give an oppotunity to explore the much heavier mass region of $ν^*$. In this paper, we present the decay formula of $(\b\b)_{0ν}$ decay through the $ν…
This note is an attempt to interpret some excesses, not yet significant due to systematics, observed by ATLAS and CMS in various analyses related to the standard channels ttH, ttZ and ttW. It is argued, within a composite interpretation of top particles, that such excesses are not necessarily related to these channels themselves, although this is not excluded, but due to the underlying presence of either vector-like heavy quarks tprime, bprime or to final states as predicted in composite theories. The outcome of this discussion is that although it will not be easy to reach an exclusive interpre…
The measurements of $R_K^{(*)}$ and $R_{D}^{(*)}$ by BaBar, Belle and the LHCb collaborations could be showing a hint of lepton flavor universality violation that can be accommodated by the presence of suitable leptoquarks at the TeV scale. We consider an effective description, with leptoquarks arising as composite pseudo Nambu-Goldstone bosons, as well as anarchic partial compositeness of the SM fermions. Considering the $R_K^{(*)}$ anomaly within this framework, we study pair production of $S_3\sim(\bar 3,3)_{1/3}$ at the LHC. We focus on the component $S_3^{1/3}$ of the triplet, which decay…
We present a novel paradigm that allows to define a composite theory at the electroweak scale that is well defined all the way up to any energy by means of safety in the UV. The theory flows from a complete UV fixed point to an IR fixed point for the strong dynamics (which gives the desired walking) before generating a mass gap at the TeV scale. We discuss two models featuring a composite Higgs, Dark Matter and partial compositeness for all SM fermions. The UV theories can also be embedded in a Pati-Salam partial unification, thus removing the instability generated by the $\mbox{U}(1)$ running…
