Distributive skew lattices satisfying $x\wedge (y\vee z)\wedge x = (x\wedge y\wedge x) \vee (x\wedge z\wedge x)$ and its dual are studied, along with the larger class of linearly distributive skew lattices, whose totally preordered subalgebras are distributive. Linear distributivity is characterized in terms of the behavior of the natural partial order between comparable $\DD$-classes. This leads to a second characterization in terms of strictly categorical skew lattices. Criteria are given for both types of skew lattices to be distributive.
For a modular lattice $L$ of finite length, we prove that the distributivity of $L$ is a sufficient condition while its 2-distributivity is a necessary condition that those sublattices of $L$ that are closed under taking relative complements form a ranked lattice of finite length.

We begin by investigating the class of commutative unital rings in which no two distinct elements divide the same elements. We prove that this class forms a finitely axiomatizable, relatively ideal distributive quasivariety, and it equals the quasivariety generated by the class of integral domains with trivial unit group. We end the paper by proving a representation theorem that provides more evidence to the conjecture that Bézout monoids describe exactly the monoids of finitely generated ideals of commutative unital rings with distributive ideal lattice.
We give new characterisations of regular Mal'tsev categories with distributive lattice of equivalence relations through variations of the so-called Triangular Lemma and Trapezoid Lemma in universal algebra. We then give new characterisations of equivalence distributive Goursat categories (which extend $3$-permutable varieties) through variations of the Triangular and Trapezoid Lemmas involving reflexive and positive relations.
Skew lattices are non-commutative generalizations of lattices, and the cosets represent the building blocks that skew lattices are built of. As by Leech's Second Decomposition Theorem any skew lattice embeds into a direct product of a left-handed skew lattice by a right-handed one, it is natural to consider the so called flat coset decompositions, i.e. decompositions of a skew lattice into right and left cosets, thus finding the smallest atoms that compose the structure.
Every quasi completely regular semiring is a b-lattice of completely Archimedean semirings, i.e., a b-lattice of nil-extensions of completely simple semirings. In this paper we consider the semiring which is a b-lattice of nil-extensions of orthodox completely simple semirings.
As algebraic semantics of the logic of quantum mechanics there are usually used orthomodular posets, i.e. bounded posets with a complementation which is an antitone involution and where the join of orthogonal elements exists and the orthomodular law is satisfied. When we omit the condition that the complementation is an antitone involution, then we obtain skew-orthomodular posets. To each such poset we can assign a bounded lambda-lattice in a non-unique way. Bounded lambda-lattices are lattice-like algebras whose operations are not necessarily associative. We prove that any of the following pr…
In this paper we discuss and characterize several set-theoretic solutions of the Yang-Baxter equation obtained using skew lattices, an algebraic structure that has not yet been related to the Yang-Baxter equation. Such solutions are degenerate in general, and thus different from solutions obtained from braces and other algebraic structures. Our main result concerns a description of a set-theoretic solution of the Yang-Baxter equation, obtained from an arbitrary skew lattice. We also provide a construction of a cancellative and distributive skew lattice on a given family of pairwise disjoint se…
Motivated by some alternatives to the classical logical model of boolean algebra, this paper deals with algebraic structures which extend skew lattices by locally invertible elements. Following the meme of the Ehresmann-Schein-Nambooripad theorem, we consider a groupoid (small category of isomorphisms) in which the set of objects carries the structure of a skew lattice. The objects act on the morphisms by left and right restriction and extension mappings of the morphisms, imitating those of an inductive groupoid. Conditions are placed on the actions, from which pseudoproducts may be defined. T…
We propose a variation of Construction A of lattices from linear codes defined using the quotient $Λ/\mathfrak pΛ$ of some order $Λ$ inside a cyclic division $F$-algebra, for $\mathfrak p$ a prime ideal of a number field $F$. To obtain codes over this quotient, we first give an isomorphism between $Λ/\mathfrak pΛ$ and a ring of skew polynomials. We then discuss definitions and basic properties of skew polynomial codes, which are needed for Construction A, but also explore further properties of the dual of such codes. We conclude by providing an application to space-time coding, which is the or…
