We show that an electric field parallel to the wavefronts of an electron-hole grating in a GaAs quantum well generates, via the electronic spin Hall effect, a spin grating of the same wave vector and with an amplitude that can exceed 1% of the amplitude of the initial density grating. We refer to this phenomenon as "collective spin Hall effect". A detailed study of the coupled-spin charge dynamics for quantum wells grown in different directions reveals rich features in the time evolution of the induced spin density, including the possibility of generating a helical spin grating.
It is shown that the collective spin rotation of a single Skyrmion in quantum Hall ferromagnet can be regarded as precession of the entire spin texture in the external magnetic field, with an effective moment of inertia which becomes infinite in the zero g-factor limit. This low-lying spin excitation may dramatically enhance the nuclear spin relaxation rate via the hyperfine interaction in the quantum well slightly away from filling factor equal one.
We apply the methods of continuum mechanics to the study of the collective modes of the fractional quantum Hall liquid. Our main result is that at long wavelength there are {\it two} distinct modes of oscillations, while previous theories predicted only {\it one}. The two modes are shown to arise from the internal dynamics of shear stresses created by the Coulomb interaction in the liquid. Our prediction is supported by recent light scattering experiments, which report the observation of two long-wavelength modes in a quantum Hall liquid.
Grating-coupler-induced collective intersubband transitions in a quasi-two-dimensional electron system are investigated both experimentally and theoretically. Far-infrared transmission experiments are performed on samples containing a quasi-two-dimensional electron gas quantum-confined in a parabolic quantum well. For rectangular shaped grating couplers of different periods we observe a strong dependence of the transmission line shape and peak height on the period of the grating, i.e. on the wave vector transfer from the diffracted beams to the collective intersubband resonance. It is shown th…
We have exactly solved the eigenequation of a two-dimensional Dirac fermion moving on the surface of a sphere under the influence of a radial magnetic field B, and obtained an exact expression of the collective excitation energy gap for the filling factors $ν=p/(2mp\pm 1)$, m and p are non-zero integers, which is very well agreement with the computing results.
We apply the magneto-roton theory of the fractional quantum Hall effect to study the collective excitation spectrum of rotating dipolar Fermi gases. The predicted spectrum has a finite energy gap in the long wavelength limit and a roton minimum at finite wave vector. The roton minimum being deepened from filling factor 1/3 to filling factor 1/5 is a signature of incipient crystallization near filling factor 1/7. We also demonstrate that there are no low-lying single-particle excitations below the roton mode. The fractional-quantum-Hall fluid rotating dipolar fermions behaves as an incompressib…
We have studied collective spin density excitations of fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) in rotating Bose-Einstein condensation for the three filling fractions of first series of Jain's composite fermion sequences. We have considered, short-ranged contact interactions between the Bose atoms as well as long range Coulomb interactions to compare the nature of the spectras with FQHE of electrons. Using Monte Carlo method for finite but large number of particles, the lowest order collective modes of spin-reversed sectors is calculated here, by computing the energy differences of the respective…

In a recent experiment (Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 87}, 036903 (2001)), Spielman et al observed a linearly dispersing collective mode in quantum Hall ferromagnet. While it qualitatively agrees with the Goldstone mode dispersion at small wave vector, the experimental mode velocity is slower than that calculated by previous theories by a factor about 0.55. A better agreement with the experimental data may possibly be achieved by taking the subband Landau level coupling into account due to the finiteness of the layer thickness. A novel coupling of quantum fluctuation to the tunneling is briefly discus…
Graphene exhibits quantum Hall ferromagnetism in which an approximate SU(4) symmetry involving spin and valley degrees of freedom is spontaneously broken. We construct a set of integer and fractional quantum Hall states that break the SU(4) spin/valley symmetry, and study their neutral and charged excitations. Several properties of these ferromagnets can be evaluated analytically in the SU(4) symmetric limit, including the full collective mode spectrum at integer fillings. By constructing explicit wave functions we show that the lowest energy skyrmion states carry charge $\pm 1$ for {\em any} …
The collective modes of striped phases in a quantum Hall system are computed using the time-dependent Hartree-Fock approximation. Uniform stripe phases are shown to be unstable to the formation of modulations along the stripes, so that within the Hartree-Fock approximation the groundstate is a stripe crystal. Such crystalline states are generically gapped at any finite wavevector; however, in the quantum Hall system the interactions of modulations among different stripes is found to be remarkably weak, leading to an infinite collection of collective modes with immeasurably small gaps. The resu…
An exact spin mapping is identified to simplify the recently proposed hard-core boson description (Demler and Das Sarma, Phys. Rev. Lett., to be published) of the bilayer quantum Hall system at filling factor 2. The effective spin model describes an easy-plane ferromagnet subject to an external Zeeman field. The phase diagram of this effective model is determined exactly and found to agree with the approximate calculation of Demler and Das Sarma, while the Goldstone-mode spectrum, order parameter stiffness and Kosterlitz-Thouless temperature in the canted antiferromagnetic phase are computed a…
We present a microscopic theory for collective excitations of quantum anomalous Hall ferromagnets (QAHF) in twisted bilayer graphene. We calculate the spin magnon and valley magnon spectra by solving Bethe-Salpeter equations, and verify the stability of QAHF. We extract the spin stiffness from the gapless spin wave dispersion, and estimate the energy cost of a skyrmion-antiskyrmion pair, which is found to be comparable in energy with the Hartree-Fock gap. The valley wave mode is gapped, implying that the valley polarized state is more favorable compared to the valley coherent state. Using a no…
We use time-dependent Hartree Fock approximation to study the collective mode spectra of nu=2 quantum Hall bilayers in tilted magnetic field allowing for charge imbalance as well as tunneling between the two layers. In a previous companion paper to this work, we studied the zero temperature global phase diagram of this system which was found to include a symmetric and ferromagnetic phases as well as a first order transition between two canted phases with spontaneously broken U(1) symmetry. We further found that this first order transition line ends in a quantum critical point within the canted…
Breakdown of the quantum Hall effect (QHE) is commonly associated with an electric field approaching the inter Landau-level (LL) Zener field, ratio of the Landau gap and cyclotron radius. Eluded in semiconducting heterostructures, in spite of extensive investigation, the intrinsic Zener limit is reported here using high-mobility bilayer graphene and high-frequency current noise. We show that collective excitations arising from electron-electron interactions are essential. Beyond a noiseless ballistic QHE regime a large superpoissonian shot noise signals the breakdown via inter-LL scattering. T…
The electromagnetic characteristics of double-layer quantum Hall systems are studied, with projection to the lowest Landau level taken into account and intra-Landau-level collective excitations treated in the single-mode approximation. It is pointed out that dipole-active excitations, both elementary and collective, govern the long-wavelength features of quantum Hall systems. In particular, the presence of the dipole-active interlayer out-of-phase collective excitations, inherent to double-layer systems, modifies the leading O(k) and O(k^{2}) long-wavelength characteristics (i.e., the transpor…
Neutral collective excitations in the striped Hall state are studied by using the single mode approximation and Hartree-Fock approximation at the half-filled third and fourth Landau level. We find that the spectrum includes anisotropic NG modes and periodic line nodes.
We study the electric and magnetic properties of the edge of a two-dimensional electron gas in presence of a magnetic field and at filling factor unity. The existence of a spin textured edge is proved as a function of the Zeeman coupling and of the smoothness of the confining potential. We also calculate the low energy excitation of the spin textured phase. We obtain that in addition to the classical edge magnetoplasmons at small wavectors, there is an almost dispersionless excitation, with a finite gap of energy at zero wavevector. This excitation is associated with the broken symmetry of the…
We report on an effective gauge theory of double-layer quantum Hall systems, that is constructed via bosonization from the response of incompressible states without referring to composite bosons and fermions. It is pointed out that dipole-active excitations, both elementary and collective, govern the long-wavelength features of quantum Hall systems, and the single-mode approximation is used to study them. The effective theory consists of three vector fields representing one interlayer collective mode and two cyclotron modes, and properly incorporates the spectrum of collective excitations on t…
Recent studies on heterostructures of ultrathin ferromagnets sandwiched between a heavy metal layer and an oxide have highlighted the importance of spin-orbit coupling (SOC) and broken inversion symmetry in domain wall (DW) motion. Specifically, chiral DWs are stabilized in these systems due to the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction (DMI). SOC can also lead to enhanced current induced DW motion, with the spin Hall effect (SHE) suggested as the dominant mechanism for this observation. The efficiency of SHE driven DW motion depends on the internal magnetic structure of the DW, which could be cont…
Based on a microscopic evaluation of the local current density, a treatment of edge magnetoplasmons (EMP) is presented for confining potentials that allow Landau level (LL) flattening to be neglected. Mode damping due to electron-phonon interaction is evaluated. For nu=1, 2 there exist independent modes spatially symmetric or antisymmetric with respect to the edge. Certain modes, changing shape during propagation, are nearly undamped even for very strong dissipation and are termed edge helicons. For nu > 2 inter-LL Coulomb coupling leads to a strong repulsion of the decoupled LL fundamental mo…
Spin Hall effects interconvert spin- and charge currents due to spin-orbit interaction, which enables convenient electrical generation and detection of diffusive spin currents and even collective spin excitations in magnetic solids. Here, we review recent experimental efforts exploring efficient spin Hall detector materials as well as new approaches to drive collective magnetization dynamics and to manipulate spin textures by spin Hall effects. These studies are also expected to impact practical spintronics applications beyond their significance in fundamental research.
In this work we investigate collective excitations at the boundary of a recently constructed 4D quantum Hall state. Local bosonic operators for creating these collective excitations can be constructed explicitly. Massless relativistic wave equations with helicity $S$ can be derived exactly for these operators from their Heisenberg equation of motion. For the S=1 and S=2 cases these equations reduce to the free Maxwell and linearized Einstein equation respectively. These collective excitations can be interpreted as hydrodynamical modes at the boundary of the 4D QHE droplet. Outstanding issues a…
In the striped Hall state, a magnetic translation in one direction is spontaneously broken to the discrete translation. The spectrum of the neutral collective excitation is obtained in the single mode approximation at half-filled third and fourth Landau levels. The spectrum is anisotropic and has a multiple line node structure. In one direction, the spectrum resembles the liquid Helium spectrum with the phonon and roton minimum.
We investigate neutral collective excitations in the striped Hall state. In the striped Hall state, the magnetic translation and rotation symmetries are spontaneously broken. Using the commutation relation between charges and currents corresponding to the broken and unbroken symmetry, the existence of the gapless neutral excitation is proved. The spectrum of the neutral collective excitation at the half-filled third Landau level is obtained in the single mode approximation. We find the periodic line nodes in the spectrum. The spectrum is compared with the particle-hole excitation spectrum in t…
We use the edge of the quantum Hall sample to study the possibility for counter-propagating neutral collective excitations. A novel sample design allows us to independently investigate charge and energy transport along the edge. We experimentally observe an upstream energy transfer with respect to the electron drift for the filling factors 1 and 1/3. Our analysis indicates that a neutral collective mode at the interaction-reconstructed edge is a proper candidate for the experimentally observed effect.
A unified description of elementary and collective excitations in quantum Hall systems is presented within the single-mode approximation (SMA) framework, with emphasis on revealing an intimate link with Chern-Simons theories. It is shown that for a wide class of quantum Hall systems the SMA in general yields, as an effective theory, a variant of the bosonic Chern-Simons theory. For single-layer systems the effective theory agrees with the standard Chern-Simons theory at long wavelengths whereas substantial deviations arise for collective excitations in bilayer systems. It is suggested, in part…
Double-layer electron systems in the quantum Hall regime have excitonic condensate ground states when the layers are close together and the total Landau level filling factor is close to an odd integer. In this paper we discuss the microscopic physics of these states and recent progress toward building a theory of the anomalous collective transport effects that occur in separately contacted bilayers when the condensate is present.
We construct model wavefunctions for the collective modes of fractional quantum Hall systems. The wavefunctions are expressed in terms of symmetric polynomials characterized by a root partition and a "squeezed" basis, and show excellent agreement with exact diagonalization results for finite systems. In the long wavelength limit, the model wavefunctions reduce to those predicted by the single-mode approximation, and remain accurate at energies above the continuum of roton pairs.
We report an unexpected sharp peak in the temperature dependence of the magnetoresistance of the reentrant integer quantum Hall states in the second Landau level. This peak defines the onset temperature of these states. We find that in different spin branches the onset temperatures of the reentrant states scale with the Coulomb energy. This scaling provides direct evidence that Coulomb interactions play an important role in the formation of these reentrant states evincing their collective nature.
The $ν=2$ quantum Hall state at low Zeeman coupling is well-known to be a translationally invariant singlet if Landau level mixing is small. At zero Zeeman interaction, as Landau level mixing increases, the translationally invariant state becomes unstable to aninhomogeneous state. This is the first realistic example of a full Hall crystal, which shows the coexistence of quantum Hall order and density wave order. The full Hall crystal differs from the more familiar Wigner crystal by a topological property, which results in it having only linearly dispersing collective modes at small $q$, and no…
The collective modes of stripes in double layer quantum Hall systems are computed using the time-dependent Hartree-Fock approximation. It is found that, when the system possesses spontaneous interlayer coherence, there are two gapless modes, one a phonon associated with broken translational invariance, the other a pseudospin-wave associated with a broken U(1) symmetry. For large layer separations the modes disperse weakly for wavevectors perpendicular to the stripe orientation, indicating the system becomes akin to an array of weakly coupled one-dimensional XY systems. At higher wavevectors th…
In this article, we shall focus on the collective dynamics of the fermions in a $ν= 1$ quantum Hall droplet. Specifically, we propose to look at the quantum Hall ferromagnet. In this system, the electron spins are ordered in the ground state due to the exchange part of the Coulomb interaction and the Pauli exclusion principle. The low energy excitations are ferromagnetic magnons. In order to obtain an effective Lagrangian for these magnons, we shall introduce bosonic collective coordinates in the Hilbert space of many-fermion systems. These collective coordinates describe a part of the fermion…
Recent advances in quantum engineering have given us the ability to design hybrid systems with novel properties normally not present in the regime they operate in. The coupling of spin ensembles and magnons to microwave resonators has for instance lead to a much richer understanding of collective effects in these systems and their potential quantum applications. We can also hybridize electron and nuclear spin ensembles together in the solid-state regime to investigate collective effects normally only observed in the atomic, molecular and optical world. Here we explore in the solid state regime…
We study low energy collective modes and transport properties of the "helical metal" on the surface of a topological insulator. At low energies, electrical transport and spin dynamics at the surface are exactly related by an operator identity equating the electric current to the in-plane components of the spin degrees of freedom. From this relation it follows that an undamped spin wave always accompanies the sound mode in the helical metal -- thus it is possible to `hear' the sound of spins. In the presence of long range Coulomb interactions, the surface plasmon mode is also coupled to the spi…
Current-induced spin torques in layered magnetic heterostructures have many commonalities across broad classes of magnetic materials. These include not only collinear ferromagnets, ferrimagnets, and antiferromagnets, but also more complex noncollinear spin systems. We develop a general Lagrangian-Rayleigh approach for studying the role of dissipative torques, which can pump energy into long-wavelength magnetic dynamics, causing dynamic instabilities. While the Rayleigh structure of such torques is similar for different magnetic materials, their consequences depend sensitively on the nature of …
Quantum Hall (QH) systems consist of many-body electron and nuclear spins. They are coupled so weakly through the hyperfine interaction that normally electron spin dynamics are scarcely affected by the nuclear spins. The dynamics of the QH systems, however, may drastically change when the nuclear spins interact with low-energy collective excitation modes of the electron spins. We theoretically investigate the nuclear-electron spin interaction in the QH systems as hybrid quantum systems driven by the hyperfine interaction. In particular, we study the interaction between the nuclear spins and th…
We introduce different types of quenches to probe the non-equilibrium dynamics and multiple collective modes of bilayer fractional quantum Hall states. We show that applying an electric field in one layer induces oscillations of a spin-1 degree of freedom, whose frequency matches the long-wavelength limit of the dipole mode. On the other hand, oscillations of the long-wavelength limit of the quadrupole mode, i.e., the spin-2 graviton, as well as the combination of two spin-1 states, can be activated by a sudden change of band mass anisotropy. We construct an effective field theory to describe …
We derive an effective field-theoretical model for the one-dimensional collective mode associated with a domain wall in a quantum Hall ferromagnetic state, as realized in confined graphene systems at zero filling. To this end, we consider the coupling of a quantum spin ladder forming near a kink in the Zeeman field to the spin fluctuations of a neighboring spin polarized two-dimensional environment. It is shown, in particular, that such coupling may induce anisotropy of the exchange coupling in the legs of the ladder. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the resulting ferromagnetic spin-1/2 ladder…
Over the past few years one of us (Murthy) in collaboration with R. Shankar has developed an extended Hamiltonian formalism capable of describing the ground state and low energy excitations in the fractional quantum Hall regime. The Hamiltonian, expressed in terms of Composite Fermion operators, incorporates all the nonperturbative features of the fractional Hall regime, so that conventional many-body approximations such as Hartree-Fock and time-dependent Hartree-Fock are applicable. We apply this formalism to develop a microscopic theory of the collective edge modes in fractional quantum Hall…
We have studied the collective excitation of fractional quantum Hall effect (FQHE) in the rotating Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) using CF theory at the filling fraction $ν=1/2$. The roton type of excitation in the FQHE of electron system is established over the years for all the filling fraction, whereas the collective excitation at $ν=1/2$ filling fraction in the rotating BEC shows no roton minimum. We have investigated this using composite fermion theory with the P$\ddot{o}$schl-Teller interaction potential between the particles. We have seen that the long range interaction will give the ro…
To provide a means for describing these magnons, we shall discuss a method of introducing collective coordinates in the Hilbert space of many-fermion systems. These collective coordinates are bosonic in nature. They m…
A variety of recent experiments probing the low-temperature transport properties of quantum Hall systems have suggested an interpretation in terms of liquid crystalline mesophases dubbed {\em quantum Hall liquid crystals}. The single mode approximation (SMA) has been a useful tool for the determination of the excitation spectra of various systems such as phonons in $^4$He and in the fractional quantum Hall effect. In this paper we calculate (via the SMA) the spectrum of collective excitations in a quantum Hall liquid crystal by considering {\em nematic}, {\em tetratic}, and {\em hexatic} gener…
We show model wavefunctions for neutral collective modes in fractional quantum Hall (FQH) states have simple analytic forms obtained from judicially reducing the powers of selected pairs in the ground state Jastrow factor. This scheme of "pair excitations" works for the magneto-roton modes of single-component Abelian and non-Abeliean FQH states, as well as neutral fermion mode for the Moore-Read (MR) state. The analytic wavefunctions enable computations in the thermodynamic limit previous inaccessible to numerics, and the long wavelength limit of the neutral energy gap of the magneto-roton mod…
Exploring a classical solution of the non-linear sigma model for a quantum Hall ferromagnet, a skyrmion-magnon effective hamiltonian is obtained via the collective coordinates method. Using the Feynman-Vernon functional integral formalism for this model we find the temperature dependent transport coefficients which characterize a single skyrmion dynamics.
The electromagnetic characteristics of bilayer quantum Hall systems in the presence of interlayer coherence and tunneling are studied by means of a pseudospin-texture effective theory and an algebraic framework of the single-mode approximation, with emphasis on clarifying the nature of the low-lying neutral collective mode responsible for interlayer tunneling phenomena. A long-wavelength effective theory, consisting of the collective mode as well as the cyclotron modes, is constructed. It is seen explicitly from the electromagnetic response that gauge invariance is kept exact, this implying, i…
A theory of collective states in a magnetically quantized two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG) with half-filled Landau level (quantized Hall ferromagnet) in the presence of magnetic 3d impurities is developed. The spectrum of bound and delocalized spin-excitons as well as the renormalization of Zeeman splitting of the impurity 3d levels due to the indirect exchange interaction with the 2DEG are studied for the specific case of n-type GaAs doped with Mn where the Lande` g-factors of impurity and 2DEG have opposite signs. If the sign of the 2DEG g-factor is changed due to external influences, the…
The two-dimensional electron gas in a bilayer quantum Hall system can sustain an interlayer coherence at filling factor nu=1 even in the absence of tunneling between the layers. This system has low-energy charged excitations which may carry textures in real spin or pseudospin. Away from filling factor nu =1 a finite density of these is present in the ground state of the 2DEG and forms a crystal. Depending on the relative size of the various energy scales, such as tunneling (Delta_SAS), Zeeman coupling (Delta_Z) or electrical bias (Delta_b), these textured crystal states can involve spin, pseud…
Double layer two-dimensional electron systems can exhibit a fascinating collective phase believed to exhibit both quantum ferromagnetism and excitonic superfluidity. This unusual phase has recently been found to exhibit tunneling phenomena reminiscent of the Josephson effect. A key element of the theoretical understanding of this bizarre quantum fluid is the existence of linearly dispersing Goldstone collective modes. Using the method of tunneling spectroscopy, we have demonstrated the existence of these modes. We find the measured velocity to be in reasonable agreement with theoretical estima…
We investigate the far-infrared (FIR) absorption of a two-dimensional electron gas in a periodically modulated quantizing magnetic field. The magnetic field varies along only one spatial direction and the external time-dependent electric field is linearly polarized along that axis. The mutual Coulomb interaction of the electrons is treated self-consistently in the ground state and in the absorption calculation within the Hartree approximation. The effects of the magnetic material on top of the heterostructure as a grating coupler is included in the time-dependent incident FIR electric field. W…
We report observations of collective gap excitations of the fractional quantum Hall (FQH) states at filling factors ν=p/(2p+1) (p=integer), for 1/3 <= ν<= 2/3, by inelastic light scattering. The collective gap energies at ν= 1/3, 2/5 and 3/7 show a drastic decrease as the value ν=1/2 is approached. These energies and the one at ν=3/5 display the linear scaling with (e^2/εl_o)/|2p+1| that is characteristic of composite fermions in Chern-Simons gauge fields. In a narrow range of νcentered at 1/2, where the FQH gaps collapse, we observe a new excitation mode which exists only at temperatures belo…
Collective lattice dynamics determine essential aspects of condensed matter, such as elastic and thermal properties. These exhibit strong dependence on the length-scale, reflecting the marked wavevector dependence of lattice excitations. The extreme ultraviolet transient grating (EUV TG) approach has demonstrated the potential of accessing a wavevector range corresponding to the 10s of nm length-scale, representing a spatial scale of the highest relevance for fundamental physics and forefront technology, previously inaccessible by optical TG and other inelastic scattering methods. In this manu…
We devote this work to the study of the mean-field phase diagram of the $ν=0$ quantum Hall state in bilayer graphene and the computation of the corresponding neutral collective modes, extending the results of recent works in the literature. Specifically, we provide a detailed classification of the complete orbital-valley-spin structure of the collective modes and show that phase transitions are characterized by singlet modes in orbital pseudospin, which are independent of the Coulomb strength and suffer strong many-body corrections from short-range interactions at low momentum. We describe the…
Graphene subject to a strong, tilted magnetic field exhibits an insulator-metal transition tunable by tilt-angle, attributed to the transition from a canted antiferromagnetic (CAF) to a ferromagnetic (FM) bulk state at filling factor zero. We develop a theoretical description for the spin and valley edge textures in the two phases, and the implied evolution in the nature of edge modes through the transition. In particular, we show that the CAF has gapless neutral modes in the bulk, but supports gapped charged edge modes. At the transition to the FM state the charged edge modes become gapless a…
Weakly disordered bilayer quantum Hall systems at filling factor $ν=1$ show spontaneous interlayer phase coherence if the layers are sufficiently close together. We study the collective modes in the system, the current-voltage characteristics and their evolution with an in-plane magnetic field in the phase-coherent regime.
We report complex magnetotransport patterns of the $ν=1$ integer quantum Hall state in a GaAs/AlGaAs sample from the newest generation with a record high electron mobility. The reentrant integer quantum Hall effect in the flanks of the $ν=1$ plateau indicates the formation of the integer quantum Hall Wigner solid, a collective insulator. Moreover, at a fixed filling factor, the longitudinal resistance versus temperature in the region of the integer quantum Hall Wigner solid exhibits a sharp peak. Such sharp peaks in the longitudinal resistance versus temperature so far were only detected for b…
Motivated by recent all optical NMR experiments\cite{Awschalom1,Awschalom2} on GaAs quantum wells, we propose new experiments that would involve creating spatially modulated nuclear spin profiles. Due to the hyperfine coupling these would appear as spatially modulated Overhauser fields for the electrons that could have an amplitude large enough to cancel or even reverse the external Zeeman field at some places. We discuss 2D electron gas transport in the quantum Hall regime at filling factor $ν= 1$, and demonstrate the existence of collective modes and topological excitations induced in the el…
