We study the response of the thermopower of a quantum dot in the Kondo regime to sinusoidal displacement of the dot energy level via a gate voltage using time dependent non-crossing approximation and linear response Onsager relations. Instantaneous thermopower begins to exhibit complex fluctuations when the driving amplitude is increased at constant driving frequency. We also find that the time averaged thermopower decreases steadily until it saturates at constant driving amplitude as a function of inverse driving frequency. On the other hand, time averaged thermopower is found to be quite sensitive to ambient temperature at all driving frequencies for large driving amplitudes. We discuss the underlying microscopic mechanism for these peculiarities based on the behaviour of the dot density of states.
In this work, we study the conductance and the thermoelectric properties of a quantum dot embedded between two metallic leads with a side-coupled triple quantum dot molecule under a magnetic field. We focus on the spin polarization and thermoelectric quantities. Our results show the possibility of design an efficient spin filter device besides a noticeable enhancement of the Seebeck coefficient driven by the asymmetry in the quantum dots energy levels and a tunable pure spin Seebeck effect is obtained. This behavior also holds in the interacting case, where a pure spin Seebeck effect can be ob…
We theoretically study the nonequilibrium thermoelectric transport properties of a strongly-correlated molecule (or quantum dot) embedded in a tunnel junction. Assuming that the coupling of the molecule to the contacts is asymmetric, we determine the nonlinear current driven by the voltage and temperature gradients by using the perturbation theory. However, the subsystem consisting of the molecule strongly coupled to one of the contacts is solved by using the numerical renormalization group method, which allows for accurate description of Kondo correlations. We study the temperature gradient a…
We theoretically investigate the thermoelectric and spin thermoelectric properties of a T-shaped double quantum dot strongly coupled to two ferromagnetic leads, focusing on transport regime where the system exhibits the two-stage Kondo effect. We study the dependence of the (spin) Seebeck coefficient, the corresponding power factor and the figure of merit on temperature, leads' spin polarization and dot level position. We show that the thermal conductance fulfills a modified Wiedemann-Franz law. We also demonstrate that the spin thermopower is enhanced at temperatures corresponding to the seco…
We report on the first measurement of the Seebeck coefficient in a tunnel-contacted and gate-tunable individual single-quantum dot junction in the Kondo regime, fabricated using the electromigration technique. This fundamental thermoelectric parameter is obtained by directly monitoring the magnitude of the voltage induced in response to a temperature difference across the junction, while keeping a zero net tunneling current through the device. In contrast to bulk materials and single molecules probed in a scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) configuration, investigating the thermopower in nanos…
We study electrical and thermoelectrical properties for a double quantum dot system. We consider the cases of both single-level and multilevel quantum dots whatever the way they are coupled, either in a series or in a parallel arrangement. The calculations are performed by using the nonequilibrium Green function theory. In the case of a single-level double quantum dot, the problem is exactly solvable whereas for a multilevel double quantum dot, an analytical solution is obtained in the limit of energy-independent hopping integrals. { We present a detailed discussion about} the dependences of e…
We discuss the Seebeck coefficient and the Hall mobility of electrons confined in narrow SrTiO3 quantum wells as a function of the three-dimensional carrier density and temperature. The quantum wells contain a fixed sheet carrier density of ~ 7x10^14 cm^-2 and their thickness is varied. At high temperatures, both properties exhibit apparent Fermi liquid behavior. In particular, the Seebeck coefficient increases nearly linearly with temperature (T) when phonon drag contributions are minimized, while the mobility decreases proportional to T^2. Furthermore, the Seebeck coefficient scales inversel…
We propose a highly efficient thermoelectric diode device built from the coupling of a quantum dot with a normal or ferromagnetic electrode and a superconducting reservoir. The current shows a strongly nonlinear behavior in the forward direction (positive thermal gradients) while it almost vanishes in the backward direction (negative thermal gradients). Our discussion is supported by a gauge-invariant current-conserving transport theory accounting for electron-electron interactions inside the dot. We find that the diode behavior is greatly tuned with external gate potentials, Zeeman splittings…
In this paper we investigate the spin-resolved thermoelectric properties of strongly correlated molecular junctions in the linear response regime. The magnetic molecule is modeled by a single orbital level to which the molecular core spin is attached by an exchange interaction. Using the numerical renormalization group method we analyze the behavior of the (spin) Seebeck effect, heat conductance and figure of merit for different model parameters of the molecule. We show that the thermopower strongly depends on the strength and type of the exchange interaction as well as the molecule's magnetic…
We investigate theoretically the thermoelectric transport properties of a T-shaped double quantum dot side-coupled to a topological superconducting nanowire hosting Majorana zero-energy modes. The calculations are performed using the numerical renormalization group method focusing on the transport regime, where the system exhibits the two-stage Kondo effect. It is shown that the leakage of Majorana quasiparticles into the double dot system results in a half-suppression of the second stage of the Kondo effect, which is revealed through fractional values of the charge and heat conductances and g…
We propose a model describing Seebeck effect on a weak link between two quantum systems with fine-tunable ground states of Fermi and Non-Fermi liquid origin. The experimental realization of the model can be achieved by utilizing the quantum devices operating in the Integer Quantum Hall regime [Z. Iftikhar et al, Nature 526, 233 (2015)] designed for detection of macroscopic quantum charged states in multi-channel Kondo systems. We present a theory of thermo-electric transport through hybrid quantum devices constructed from quantum dot - quantum point contact building blocks. We discuss pronounc…
We investigate the rectification and negative differential effects of full-counting statistics of conjugate thermal spin transport in a spin Seebeck engine. The engine is made by an electron/magnon interface diode driven by a temperature bias, of which the scaled cumulant generating function is formulated in the framework of nonequilibrium Green's function. The strongly fluctuating interfacial electron density of states induced by quantum dot is responsible for these intriguing properties. This work is relevant for designing efficient spin caloritronic engine and can broaden our view in nonequ…
We investigate the thermoelectric properties of a quantum dot coupled to ferromagnetic and superconducting electrodes. The combination of spin polarized tunneling at the ferromagnetic-quantum dot interface and the application of an external magnetic field that Zeeman splits the dot energy level leads to large values of the thermopower (Seebeck coefficient). Importantly, the thermopower can be tuned with an external gate voltage connected to the dot. We compute the figure of merit that measures the efficiency of thermoelectric conversion and find that it attains high values. We discuss the diff…
We present an analytical study of a strongly correlated quantum dot-based thermoelectric particle-exchange heat engine for both finite and infinite on-dot Coulomb interaction. Employing Keldysh's non-equilibrium Green's function formalism for different decoupling schemes in the equation of motion, we have analyzed the thermoelectric properties within the non-linear transport regime. As the simplest mean-field approximation is insufficient for analyzing thermoelectric properties in the Coulomb blockade regime, one needs to employ a higher-order approximation to study strongly correlated QD-base…
This work considers a two-dimensional artificial triangular anti-dot lattice (TAL); a semiconductor based artificial crystal hosting Dirac cones, flat bands and Fermi surface nesting. All such single particle features have dramatic implications for the emergent correlated phases. This work predominantly focuses on the existence of a robust flatband and enumerates the possible correlated phases that follow. We find that the flatband is generated, in the single-particle theory, when charges align themselves along a kagome lattice with the same period as the TAL. The correlated phases are studied…
Experiments in doped transition metal oxides often show suppression in the single-particle density of states at the Fermi level, but disorder-induced zero-bias anomalies in strongly correlated systems remain poorly understood. Numerical studies of the Anderson-Hubbard model have identified a zero-bias anomaly that is unique to strongly correlated materials, with a width proportional to the intersite hopping amplitude t [S. Chiesa, P. B. Chakraborty, W. E. Pickett, and R. T. Scalettar, Phys. Rev. Lett. 101, 086401 (2008)]. In ensembles of two-site systems, a zero-bias anomaly with the same para…
We study the low temperature properties of the differential response of the current to a temperature gradient at finite voltage in a single level quantum dot including electron-electron interaction, non-symmetric couplings to the leads and non-linear effects. The calculated response is significantly enhanced in setups with large asymmetries between the tunnel couplings. In the investigated range of voltages and temperatures with corresponding energies up to several times the Kondo energy scale, the maximum response is enhanced nearly an order of magnitude with respect to symmetric coupling to …
Comment on "Conductance scaling in Kondo-correlated quantum dots: Role of level asymmetry and charging energy"
在最近的工作[L。Merker,S. Kirchner,E. Munoz,和T. A. Costi,Phys.
