The virial theorem, introduced by Clausius in statistical mechanics, and later applied in both classical mechanics and quantum mechanics, is studied by making use of symplectic formalism as an approach in the case of both the Hamiltonian and Lagrangian systems. The possibility of establishing virial's like theorems from one-parameter groups of non-strictly canonical transformations is analysed; and the case of systems with a position dependent mass is also discussed. Using the modern symplectic approach to quantum mechanics we arrive at the quantum virial theorem in full analogy with the classical case.
In this paper, the geometric approach to the virial theorem developed in \cite{CFR12} is written in terms of quasi-velocities (see \cite{CNCS07}). A generalization of the virial theorem for mechanical systems on Lie algebroids is also given, using the geometric tools of Lagrangian and Hamiltonian mechanics on the prolongation of the Lie algebroid.
Generalized virial theorem for quantum mechanical nonrelativistic and relativistic systems with translational and rotational symmetry is derived in the form of the commutator between the generator of dilations G and the Hamiltonian H. If the conditions of translational and rotational symmetry together with the additional conditions of the theorem are satisfied, the matrix elements of the commutator [G, H] are equal to zero on the subspace of the Hilbert space. Normalized simultaneous eigenvectors of the particular set of commuting operators which contains H, J^{2}, J_{z} and additional operato…
We investigate the particle and kinetic-energy densities for a system of $N$ fermions confined in a potential $V(\bfr)$. In an earlier paper [J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. {\bf 36}, 1111 (2003)], some exact and asymptotic relations involving the particle density and the kinetic-energy density locally, i.e. at any given point $\bfr$, were derived for isotropic harmonic oscillators in arbitrary dimensions. In this paper we show that these {\it local virial theorems} (LVT) also hold exactly for linear potentials in arbitrary dimensions and for the one-dimensional box. We also investigate the validity of…
Starting from a short review of spaces of generalized sections of vector bundles, we give a concise systematic description, in precise geometric terms, of Leray densities, principal value densities, propagators and elementary solutions of field equations in flat spacetime. We then sketch a partly original geometric presentation of free quantum fields and show how propagators arise from their graded commutators in the boson and fermion cases.
In this paper, some of formulations of Hamilton-Jacobi equations for Hamiltonian system on Lie algebroids are given. Here we use the general properties of Lie algebroids to express and prove two geometric version of the Hamilton-Jacobi theorem for Hamiltonian system on Lie algebroids. Then this results are generalized and two types of time-dependent Hamilton-Jacobi theorem of Hamiltonian system on Lie algebroids are obtained.
In this paper a class of classical Hamiltonian systems is geometrically formulated. This class is such that a Hamiltonian can be written as the sum of a kinetic energy function and a potential energy function. In addition, these energy functions are assumed strictly convex. For this class of Hamiltonian systems Hessian and information geometric formulation is given. With this formulation, a generalized Toda's dual transform is proposed, where his original transform was used in deriving his integrable lattice system. Then a relation between the generalized Toda's dual transform and the Legendre…
The Tomita-Takesaki modular groups and conjugations for the observable algebras of space-like wedges and the vacuum state are computed for translationally covariant, but possibly not Lorentz covariant, generalized free quantum fields in arbitrary space-time dimension d. It is shown that for $d\geq 4$ the condition of geometric modular action (CGMA) of Buchholz, Dreyer, Florig and Summers \cite{BDFS}, Lorentz covariance and wedge duality are all equivalent in these models. The same holds for d=3 if there is a mass gap. For massless fields in d=3, and for d=2 and arbitrary mass, CGMA does not im…
In 1870, R. Clausius found the virial theorem which amounts to introduce the trace of the stress tensor when studying the foundations of thermodynamics, as a way to relate the absolute temperature of an ideal gas to the mean kinetic energy of its molecules. In 1901, H. Poincar{é} introduced a duality principle in analytical mechanics in order to study lagrangians invariant under the action of a Lie group of transformations. In 1909, the brothers E. and F. Cosserat discovered another approach for studying the same problem though using quite different equations. In 1916, H. Weyl considered again…
Using geometric quantization procedure, the quantization of algebra of observables for physical system with Ricci-flat phase space is obtained. In the classical case the appointed physical system is reduced to harmonic oscillator when the one real parameter is vanished.
Using recent advances in integration theory, we give a proof of the fundamental theorem of geometric calculus. We assume only that the tangential derivative $\nabla_VF$ exists and is Lebesgue integrable. We also give sufficient conditions that $\nabla_VF$ exists.
We consider the recursion operator approach to the soliton equations related to the generalized Zakharov-Shabat system on the algebra sl(n,C) in pole gauge both in the general position and in the presence of reductions. We present the recursion operators and discuss their geometric meaning as conjugate to Nijenhuis tensors for a Poisson-Nijenhuis structure defined on the manifold of potentials.
It is shown that the group of generalized Lorentz transformations serves as relativistic symmetry group of a flat Finslerian event space. Being the generalization of Minkowski space, the Finslerian event space arises from the spontaneous breaking of initial gauge symmetry and from the formation of anisotropic fermion-antifermion condensate. The principle of generalized Lorentz invariance enables exact taking into account the influence of condensate on the dynamics of fundamental fields. In particular, the corresponding generalized Dirac equation turns out to be nonlinear. We have found two non…
Using the generalized entropies which depend on two parameters we propose a set of quantitative characteristics derived from the Information Geometry based on these entropies. Our aim, at this stage, is modest, as we are first constructing some fundamental geometric objects. We first establish the existence of a two-parameter family of probability distributions. Then using this family we derive the associated metric and we state a generalized Cramer-Rao inequality. This gives a first two-parameter classification of complex systems. Finally computing the scalar curvature of the information mani…
We present new solutions in terms of elementary functions of the multi-component nonlinear Schrödinger equations and known solutions of the Davey-Stewartson equations such as multi-soliton, breather, dromion and lump solutions. These solutions are given in a simple determinantal form and are obtained as limiting cases in suitable degenerations of previously derived algebro-geometric solutions. In particular we present for the first time breather and rational breather solutions of the multi-component nonlinear Schrödinger equations.
In the general case of a many-body Hamiltonian system, described by an autonomous Hamiltonian $H$, and with $K\geq 0$ independent conserved quantities, we derive the microcanonical thermodynamics. By a simple approach, based on the differential geometry, we derive the microcanonical entropy and the derivatives of the entropy with respect to the conserved quantities. In such a way, we show that all the thermodynamical quantities, as the temperature, the chemical potential or the specific heat, are measured as a microcanonical average of the appropriate microscopic dynamical functions that we ha…
We provide a geometric extension of the generalized Noether theorem for scaling symmetries recently presented in \cite{zhang2020generalized}. Our version of the generalized Noether theorem has several positive features: it is constructed in the most natural extension of the phase space, allowing for the symmetries to be vector fields on such manifold and for the associated invariants to be first integrals of motion; it has a direct geometrical proof, paralleling the proof of the standard phase space version of Noether's theorem; it automatically yields an inverse Noether theorem; it applies al…
