We study gauge hierarchy problem of the Standard Model (SM) not by introducing new physics at the electroweak scale but by utilizing gravitational frames, frames generated by conformal transformations, as a renormalization medium. The essence of the naturalization mechanism is that a particular conformal transformation with respect to the Higgs field completely decouples Higgs from matter fields so that the terms causing quadratic divergences become genuine benign. In this frame, we analyze stability, unitarity and renormalizability of the interactions, and construct the effective $SM$ theory at the electroweak scale by taking into account the conformal anomalies. We scrutinize certain salient features of the framework, and discuss h -> gamma gamma decay as an application.
The proposed mechanism naturalizes not only the SM but also its extensions if they involve no new mass scales and exhibit strict conformal invariance. The new physics thus forms a conformal field theory (CFT), and can involve additional fermion generations, extra gauge groups as well as all kinds of SM singlets. Certain phenomena, for instance, CP-violating Higgs sector, Dark Matter and Inflation, can be modeled with less free parameters. Scalar and vector singlets can directly interact with the SM spectrum, and can be searched for in certain scattering processes such as the invisible decays of the Higgs boson.
We consider general linear Higgs-sigma models as ultra-violet completions of the Higgs inflation. We introduce general higher curvature terms beyond Einstein gravity and recast them into a class of linear Higgs-sigma models in the scalar-dual formulation where conformal symmetry is manifest. Integrating out the sigma field in this class of linear sigma models, we obtain the same Higgs inflation Lagrangian of non-linear sigma model type in the effective theory. We show that the successful inflation for sigma field singles out the sigma-field potential derived from the $R^2$ term and the tracker…
We consider Weyl's conformal gravity coupled to a complex matter field in Weyl geometry. It is shown that a Higgs potential naturally arises from a $\tilde R^2$ term in moving from the Jordan frame to the Einstein frame. A massless Nambu-Goldstone boson, which stems from spontaneous symmetry breakdown of the Weyl gauge invariance, is absorbed into the Weyl gauge field, thereby the gauge field becoming massive. We present a model where the gravitational interaction generates a Higgs potential whose form is a perfect square. Finally, we show that a theory in the Jordan frame is gauge-equivalent …
By extending a previously proposed conformal gauge mediation model, we construct a gauge-mediated SUSY breaking (GMSB) model where a SUSY-breaking scale, a messenger mass, the $μ$-parameter and the gravitino mass in a minimal supersymmetric (SUSY) Standard Model (MSSM) are all explained by a single mass scale, a R-symmetry breaking scale. We focus on a low scale SUSY-breaking scenario with the gravitino mass $m_{3/2}=\mathcal{O}(1){\rm eV}$, which is free from the cosmological gravitino problem and relaxes the fine-tuning of the cosmological constant. Both the messenger and SUSY-breaking secto…
We present a universal interpretation for a class of conformal extended standard models including Higgs portal interactions realized in low-energy effective theories. The scale generation mechanism in this class (scalegenesis) arises along the (nearly) conformal/flat direction for the scale symmetry breaking, where the electroweak-symmetry breaking structure is achieved in a similar way to the standard model's. A dynamical origin for the Higgs portal coupling can provide the discriminator for the low-energy ``universality class'', to be probed in forthcoming collider experiments.
We study a two-loop finiteness of an effective potential for a Higgs boson that is the fifth component of a gauge field in an $U(1)$ gauge theory coupled to quantum gravity on the five-dimensional space-time $M^4\times S^1$. There are two types of diagrams including quantum gravitational corrections. We find that only one type of diagram contributes to the effective potential for the Higgs boson in fact and its magnitude is finite.

Spontaneous breaking of conformal symmetry has been widely exploited in successful model building of both inflationary cosmology and particle physics phenomenology. Conformal Grand Unified Theory (CGUT) inflation provides the same scalar tilt and tensor-to-scalar ratio as of Starobinsky and Higgs inflation. Moreover, it predicts a proton life time compatible with the current experimental bound. In this paper, we extend CGUT to account for the production of dark matter and the reheating of the Standard Model. To this end, we introduce a hidden sector directly coupled to the inflaton, whereas th…
Mass-split composite Higgs models naturally accommodate the experimental observation of a light 125 GeV Higgs boson and predict a large scale separation to other heavier resonances. We explore the SU(3) gauge system with four light (massless) and six heavy (massive) flavors by performing numerical simulations. Since the underlying system with degenerate and massless ten flavors appears to be infrared conformal, this system inherits conformal hyperscaling and allows to study near-conformal dynamics. Carrying out nonperturbative lattice field theory simulations, we present the low-lying particle…
We analyze a composite Higgs model based on the confining $SU(3)$ gauge theory with $N_f = 8$ Dirac fermions in the fundamental representation. This gauge theory has been studied on the lattice and shown to be well described by a dilaton effective field theory (EFT). Here we modify the EFT by assigning standard-model quantum numbers such that four of the composite pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson (pNGB) fields form the standard-model Higgs doublet, by coupling it to the top quark, and by adding to the potential a term that triggers electroweak symmetry breaking. The model contains a pNGB Higgs bos…
