Three-step cascade decays into two invisible particles and two visible particles via two intermediate on-shell particles develop cusped peak structures in several kinematic distributions. We study the basic properties of the cusps and endpoints in various distributions and demonstrate that the masses of the missing particles and the intermediate particles can be determined by the cusp and endpoint positions. Effects from realistic considerations such as finite decay widths, longitudinal boost of the parent particle, and spin correlations are shown to be under control for the processes illustrated.
We investigate the feasibility of a high statistics experiment to search for invisible decay modes in nuclear gamma cascades using 200 kg of %36 Cs(Tl) scintillators that are presently available at Texas A\&M. The experiment aims to search for missing energy by robustly establishing the absence of a photon in a well identified gamma cascade. We report on the experimental demonstration of the energy resolution necessary for this search. Prior explorations of this detector concept focused on baryonically coupled physics that could be emitted in $E_2$ transitions. We point out that this protocol …
A General Method for Model-Independent Measurements of Particle Spins, Couplings and Mixing Angles in Cascade Decays with Missing Energy at Hadron Colliders
We examine scenarios in the Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (NMSSM), where pair-produced squarks and gluinos decay via two cascades, each ending in a stable neutralino as Lightest Supersymmetric Particle (LSP) and a Standard Model (SM)-like Higgs boson, with mass spectra such that the missing transverse energy, $E_{T}^{\text{miss}}$, is very small. Performing two-dimensional parameter scans and focusing on the hadronic $H\rightarrow b\bar{b}$ decay giving a $b\bar{b}b\bar{b} + E_{T}^{\text{miss}}$ final state we explore the sensitivity of a current LHC general-purpose jets+$E_{T}…
We consider dark sectors with spontaneously broken gauge symmetries, where cascade decays of the dark sector fields naturally produce multi-Higgs boson final states along with dark matter. Our study focuses on two and three Higgs boson final states with missing energy using a multivariate analysis with Boosted Decision Trees. We find that the di-Higgs boson channel is quite promising for the $\bar b b + γγ$ and $\bar b b + \bar \ell \ell$ decay modes. The tri-Higgs boson final state with missing energy, on the other hand, appears to be beyond the reach of the LHC in analogous channels. This ma…

Baryons with three heavy quarks are the last missing pieces of the lowest-lying baryon multiplets in the quark model after the discovery of doubly heavy baryons. In this work, we study nonleptonic weak decays of triply heavy baryons $Ω_{ccc}^{++}$, $Ω_{bbb}^{-}$, $Ω_{ccb}^{+}$, and $Ω_{cbb}^{0}$. Decay amplitudes for various processes have been parametrized in terms of the SU(3) irreducible nonperturbative amplitudes. A number of relations for the partial decay widths can be deduced from these results that can be examined in future. Some decay channels and cascade decay modes which likely to b…
If the LHC is able to produce dark matter particles, they would appear at the end of cascade decay chains, manifesting themselves as missing transverse energy. However, such "dark matter candidates" may decay invisibly later on. We propose to test for this possibility by studying the effect of particle widths on the observable invariant mass distributions of the visible particles seen in the detector. We consider the simplest non-trivial case of a two-step two-body cascade decay and derive analytically the shapes of the invariant mass distributions, for generic values of the widths of the new …
We derive the two-loop evolution equation of the B-meson light-cone distribution amplitude which is the last missing element for the next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic resummation of QCD corrections to B decays in QCD factorization. We argue that the evolution kernel to all orders in perturbation theory can be written as a logarithm of the generator of special conformal transformations times the cusp anomalous dimension, up to a scheme-dependent overall constant. Up to this constant term, the evolution kernel to a given order in perturbation theory can be obtained from the calculation of spec…
In the 'fat-brane' realization of Universal Extra Dimension (UED) models, the gravity mediated decays of Kaluza-Klein (KK) excitations of the Standard Model (SM) particles offer interesting collider signals. Colored level-1 KK-particles (quarks $q^1$ and/or gluons $g^{1}$) are pair-produced at the colliders due to conserved KK-parity. These particles, then, cascade decay into lighter level-1 KK-particle in association with one or more SM particles until producing lightest KK particle (LKP). The gravity mediation allows LKP to decay into photon or $Z$-boson plus gravity excitation, hence result…
We discuss the status of resummation of large logarithmic contributions to groomed event shapes of hadronic final states in electron-positron annihilation. We identify the missing ingredients needed for next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (NNNLL) resummation of the mMDT groomed jet mass in $e^+e^-$ collisions: the low-scale collinear-soft constants at two-loop accuracy, $c_{S_c}^{(2)}$, and the three-loop non-cusp anomalous dimension of the global soft function, $γ_S^{(2)}$. We present a method for extracting those constants using fixed-order codes: the EVENT2 program to obtain the col…
