In the very early stages of LHC running, uncertainties in detector performance will lead to large ambiguities in jet, electron and photon energy measurements, along with inferred missing transverse energy. However, muon detection should be quite straightforward, with the added benefit that muons can be reliably detected down to transverse energies of order 5 GeV. Supersymmetry discovery through multimuon channels has been extensively explored in the literature, but always relying on hard ET^miss cuts. Here, we quantify signal and background rates for same-sign (SS) dimuon and multimuon production at the LHC without any ET^miss cuts. The LHC, operating at \sqrt{s}=10 TeV, should be able to discover a signal over expected background consistent with gluino pair production for m_{\tg}\alt 450 (550) GeV in the SS dimuon plus \ge 4 jets state with just 0.1 (0.2) fb^{-1} of integrated luminosity.
A case study will be presented to determine the particle masses and parameters of a specific mSUGRA model at the TESLA Linear Collider with high precision.
We explore, in a concrete example, to which extent new particle mass determinations are practicable with LHC data. Our chosen example is that of Yukawa-unified SUSY GUTs, whose viability has been recently studied for two general patterns of soft SUSY-breaking terms. We note that both patterns of SUSY spectra do not admit long decay chains, which would make it possible to determine the masses of the SUSY particles involved using endpoints or mass relations. We thus take the so-called mT2-kink method as our key strategy, since it does not rely on the presence of long decay chains. We then discus…
Sparticle mass hierarchies contain significant information regarding the origin and nature of supersymmetry breaking. The hierarchical patterns are severely constrained by electroweak symmetry breaking as well as by the astrophysical and particle physics data. They are further constrained by the Higgs boson mass measurement. The sparticle mass hierarchies can be used to generate simplified models consistent with the high scale models. In this work we consider supergravity models with universal boundary conditions for soft parameters at the unification scale as well as supergravity models with …
The 1-loop corrected decay widths of sparticles (charginos, neutralinos, gluino and sfermions) in the framework of the MSSM are calculated systematically using GRACE/SUSY-loop, which is the program package for the automatic calculation of the MSSM amplitudes in the 1-loop order. We present the renormalization scheme used in our system and show some numerical results of decay widths of sfermions and gluino using the SPS1a' parameter set and other SUSY parameter sets.
SUSYGEN is a Monte Carlo program designed for computing distributions and generating events for MSSM sparticle production in e+ e- collisions. The Supersymmetric (SUSY) mass spectrum may either be supplied by the user, or can alternatively be calculated in two different models of SUSY Breaking: gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking (SUGRA), and gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking (GMSB). The program incorporates the most important production processes and decay modes, including the full set of R-parity violating decays, and the decays to the gravitino in GMSB models. Initial state radiatio…
The horizontal symmetry $U(3)_H$ can greatly help in solving the flavor problems in the supersymmetric grand unification. We consider the $SU(5)\times U(3)_H$ model and show that it leads to the remarkable relations between the fermion mass matrices and the soft SUSY breaking terms. Dangerous supersymmetric contributions to the flavor-changing phenomena are naturally suppressed. The possible extensions to the $SO(10)\times U(3)_H$ model are also outlined.
We estimate the bounds on Higgs and sparticle masses and discuss their correlations in the constrained minimal supersymmetric standard model (CMSSM). In our analysis we have applied the present constraints from collider and low energy experiments, as well as the experimental bound on cold dark matter from WMAP. For a given lightest Higgs boson mass, which is expected to be measured with good precision at the LHC, we find important correlations between the Higgs and sparticle masses which allows one to delineate the MSSM model parameters and particle spectra. We have also demonstrated an import…
Supersymmetric grand unified models based on the gauge group SU(5) often require in addition to gauge coupling unification, the unification of b-quark and $τ$-lepton Yukawa couplings. We examine SU(5) SUSY GUT parameter space under the condition of $b-τ$ Yukawa coupling unification using 2-loop MSSM RGEs including full 1-loop threshold effects. The Yukawa-unified solutions break down into two classes. Solutions with low tanβ~3-11 are characterized by gluino mass ~1-4 TeV and squark mass ~1-5 TeV. Many of these solutions would be beyond LHC reach, although they contain a light Higgs scalar with…
Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) can feature predictions for the ratios of quark and lepton Yukawa couplings at high energy, which can be tested with the increasingly precise results for the fermion masses, given at low energies. To perform such tests, the renormalization group (RG) running has to be performed with sufficient accuracy. In supersymmetric (SUSY) theories, the one-loop threshold corrections (TC) are of particular importance and, since they affect the quark-lepton mass relations, link a given GUT flavour model to the sparticle spectrum. To accurately study such predictions, we extend…
The supersymmetric particles (sparticles) belonging exclusively to the electroweak sector of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) may hold the key to the observed dark matter relic density in the universe even if all strongly interacting sparticles are very heavy. The importance of the light EW sparticles in DM physics and in producing spectacular collider signals is emphasized. It is shown that even the preliminary data on the direct searches of these sparticles at the LHC, significantly constrain the parameter space of the MSSM compatible with the observed relic density and provi…
We explore the implications of LHC and cold dark matter searches for supersymmetric particle mass spectra in two different grand unified models with left-right symmetry, $SO(10)$ and $ SU(4)_c \times SU(2)_L \times SU(2)_R$ (4-2-2). We identify characteristic differences between the two scenarios, which imply distinct correlations between experimental measurements and the particular structure of the GUT group. The gauge structure of 4-2-2 enhances significantly the allowed parameter space as compared to $SO(10)$, giving rise to a variety of coannihilation scenarios compatible with the LHC data…
At the ILC, one has the possibility to search for SUSY in an model-independent way: The corner-stone of SUSY is that sparticles couple as particles. This is independent of the mechanism responsible for SUSY breaking. Any model will have one Lightest SUSY Particle (LSP), and one Next to Lightest SUSY Particle (NLSP). In models with conserved R-parity, the NLSP must decay solely to the LSP and the SM partner of the NLSP. Therefore, studying NLSP production and decay can be regarded as a "simplified model without simplification": Any SUSY model will have such a process. The NLSP could be any spar…
Using two-loop renormalization group equations implementing the decoupling of heavy scalars, Effective SUSY scenarios are studied in the limit in which there is a single low energy Higgs field. Gauge coupling unification is shown to hold with similar or better precision than in standard MSSM scenarios. b-tau unification is examined, and Higgs masses are computed using the effective potential, including two-loop contributions from scalars. A 125 GeV Higgs is compatible with stops/sbottoms at around 300 GeV with non-universal boundary conditions at the scale of the heavy sparticles if some of th…
We investigate the split supersymmetry (SUSY) scenario recently proposed by Arkani-Hamed and Dimopoulos, where the scalars are heavy but the fermions are within the TeV range. We show that the sparticle spectrum in such a case crucially depends on the specific details of the mechanism underlying the SUSY breaking scheme, and the accelerator signals are also affected by it. In particular, we demonstrate in the context of a braneworld-inspired model, used as illustration in the original work, that a new fermion $ψ_X$, arising from the SUSY breaking sector, is shown to control low-energy phenomen…
We estimate the current theoretical uncertainty in sparticle mass predictions by comparing several state-of-the-art computations within the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). We find that the theoretical uncertainty is comparable to the expected statistical errors from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and significantly larger than those expected from a future e+e- Linear Collider (LC). We quantify the theoretical uncertainty on relevant sparticle observables for both LHC and LC, and show that the value of the error is significantly dependent upon the supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking pa…
We describe a new cascade mass reconstruction approach to allow reconstruction of SUSY particle masses in long cascades (five or more particles) at the LHC with integrated luminosity as low as a few fb^(-1). This approach is based on a consecutive use of the endpoint method, an event filter and a combinatorial mass reconstruction method. The endpoint method gives a preliminary estimate of light sparticle masses. An event filter combining the maximum likelihood distributions for all events in the data sample allows suppression of backgrounds and gives a preliminary estimate of heavy sparticle m…
We discuss the possibilities to observe the decays of heavy SUSY Higgs bosons into supersymmetric particles at the LHC. Such an observation would be of interest either in a discovery search if sparticle modes are the dominant ones, or in a study of additional decay modes, bringing information on the SUSY scenario potentially at work. We will focus on the most promising channel where the heavy neutral Higgses decay into a pair of next-to-lightest neutralinos, followed by their decay into two leptons and the LSP, thus leading to four isolated leptons + missing E_T as the main final state signatu…
We critically reexamine the standard applications of the method of kinematical endpoints for sparticle mass determination. We consider the typical decay chain in supersymmetry (SUSY) squark -> neutralino -> slepton -> LSP, which yields a jet j and two leptons ln and lf. The conventional approaches use the upper kinematical endpoints of the individual distributions m_{jll}, m_{jl(lo)} and m_{jl(hi)}, all three of which suffer from parameter space region ambiguities and may lead to multiple solutions for the SUSY mass spectrum. In contrast, we do not use m_{jll}, m_{jl(lo)} and m_{jl(hi)}, and i…
Two loop renormalization group equations for dimensionless as well as dimensionful parameters are obtained for the low energy theories that result from decoupling heavy scalar particles in Split SUSY and Effective SUSY scenarios, assuming that only a single Higgs field survives at low energy. For the Effective SUSY case two scenarios are considered: first, when the only light third generation scalars are the partners of the left-handed quark doublet and the right-handed top quark --which yields the minimal matter content compatible with naturalness-- and second, when all the scalars of the thi…
In supersymmetry (SUSY) models with low electroweak naturalness (natSUSY), which have been suggested to be the most likely version of SUSY to emerge from the string landscape, higgsinos are expected at the few hundred GeV scale whilst electroweak gauginos inhabit the TeV scale. For TeV-scale heavy neutral SUSY Higgs bosons H and A, as currently required by LHC searches, then the dominant decay modes of H, A are into gaugino plus higgsino provided these decays are kinematically open. The light higgsinos decay to soft particles so are largely invisible whilst the gauginos decay to W, Z or h plus…
Supersymmetric (SUSY) models, even those described by relatively few parameters, generically allow many possible SUSY particle (sparticle) mass hierarchies. As the sparticle mass hierarchy determines, to a great extent, the collider phenomenology of a model, the enumeration of these hierarchies is of the utmost importance. We therefore provide a readily generalizable procedure for determining the number of sparticle mass hierarchies in a given SUSY model. As an application, we analyze the gravity-mediated SUSY breaking scenario with various combinations of GUT-scale boundary conditions involvi…
After summarising very briefly the key features of different model predictions for sparticle masses and their relation with the supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking scales and parameters, I discuss the capabilities of an $e^+ e^-$ Linear Collider (LC) with $\sqrt{s} \geq$ 500 GeV for precision measurements of sparticle properties. Then I focus on the lessons one can learn about the scale and mechanism of SUSY breaking from these measurements and point out how LC can crucially complement and extend the achievements of the LHC. I end by mentioning what would be the desired extensions in the type/energy…
NMSPEC is a Fortran code that computes the sparticle and Higgs masses, as well as Higgs decay widths and couplings in the NMSSM, with soft SUSY breaking terms specified at MGUT. Exceptions are the soft singlet mass m_s^2 and the singlet self coupling kappa, that are both determined in terms of the other parameters through the minimization equations of the Higgs potential. We present a first analysis of the NMSSM parameter space with universal SUSY breaking terms at MGUT -- except for m_s and A_kappa -- that passes present experimental constraints on sparticle and Higgs masses. We discuss in so…
We discuss supersymmetric scenarios in which neutrino masses arise from effective d=6 operators in the Kahler potential (including SUSY-breaking insertions). Simple explicit realizations of those Kahler operators are presented in the context of the type II seesaw. An appealing scenario emerges upon identifying the seesaw mediators with SUSY-breaking messengers.
We investigate a simple 5D extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric (SUSY) Standard Model (SM) that is combined with the bulk matter Randall-Sundrum (RS) model, which gives a natural explanation the Yukawa coupling hierarchy. In this model, matter and gauge superfields reside in the 5D bulk while a SUSY breaking sector and the Higgs doublet superfields are localized on the infrared brane. The Yukawa coupling hierarchy in SM can be naturally explained through the wavefunction localization of the matter superfields. While sparticles obtain their flavor-blind soft SUSY breaking masses dominantly f…
In the CMSSM we find preferences for sparticle masses that are relatively light. In the NUHM1 the best-fit values for many sparticle masses are even slightly smaller, but with greater uncertainties. We find that at the 95% C.L. all colored particles are in the reach of the LHC. While the light Higgs boson is bounded from above by M_h <= 125 GeV, the heavy Higgs bosons could well escape the LHC searches, but might be accessible at the ILC.
On the basis of frequentist analyses of experimental constraints from electroweak precision data, (g-2)_mu, B-physics and cosmological data, we predict the masses of Higgs bosons and SUSY particles of the CMSSM, NUHM1, VCMSSM and mSUGRA. In the CMSSM, NUHM1 and VCMSSM we find preferences for sparticle masses that are relatively light, leading to good prospects for the LHC and the ILC. Including first data from SUSY searches at the LHC leads to an increase of the preferred sparticle mass scales, but improves the consistency of the model predictions for M_h with the LEP exclusion bounds.
We present complete results of a next-to-leading order calculation of the production of gaugino-like charginos ($\chargino$) and neutralinos ($\neutralino$) in association with gluinos ($\gluino$) at hadron colliders, including the strong corrections from the exchange of colored particles and sparticles. Adopting a variety of models for the sparticle mass spectrum, including typical supergravity (SUGRA) models and a light gluino model, we provide predictions for total and differential cross sections at the energies of the Fermilab Tevatron and CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
One of the main motivations of experiments at the LHC is to search for SUSY particles. The talk is based on recent analyses, performed by CMS Collaboration, within the framework of the Supergravity motivated minimal SUSY extension of the Standard Model. The emphasis is put on leptonic channels. The strategies for obtaining experimental signatures for strongly and weakly interacting sparticles productions, as well as examples of determination of SUSY masses and model parameters are discussed. The domain of parameter space where SUSY can be discovered is investigated. Results show, that if SUSY …
The recent excess observed by CDF in $B^0_s \to μ^{+} μ^{-}$ is interpreted in terms of a possible supersymmetric origin. An analysis is given of the parameter space of mSUGRA and non-universal SUGRA models under the combined constraints from LHC-7 with 165 pb$^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity, under the new XENON-100 limits on the neutralino-proton spin independent cross section and under the CDF $B^0_s \to μ^{+} μ^{-}$ 90% C.L. limit reported to arise from an excess number of dimuon events. It is found that the predicted value of the branching ratio $B^0_s \to μ^{+} μ^{-}$ consistent with all …
If the fundamental Planck scale is near a TeV, then we should expect to see TeV scale black holes at the LHC. Similarly, if the scale of supersymmetry breaking is sufficiently low, then we might expect to see light supersymmetric particles in the next generation of colliders. If the mass of the supersymmetric particle is of order a TeV and is comparable to the temperature of a typical TeV scale black hole, then such sparticles will be copiously produced via Hawking radiation: The black hole will act as a resonance for sparticles, among other things. In this paper we compared various signatures…
The Higgs boson production p p (p\bar p) -> b h +X via b g -> b h at the LHC, which may be an important channel for testing the bottom quark Yukawa coupling, is subject to large supersymmetric quantum corrections. In this work the one-loop SUSY-QCD corrections to this process are evaluated and are found to be quite sizable in some parameter space. We also study the behavior of the corrections in the limit of heavy SUSY masses and find the remnant effects of SUSY-QCD. These remnant effects, which are left over in the Higgs sector by the heavy sparticles, are found to be so sizable (for a light …
\susy23 is a Monte-Carlo package for generating supersymmetric (SUSY) processes at $e^+e^-$ colliders. Twenty-three types of SUSY processes with 2 or 3 final state particles at tree level are included in version 2.0. {\susy23} addresses event simulation requirements at $e^+e^-$ colliders such as LEP. Matrix elements are generated by GRACE with the helicity amplitude method for processes involving massive fermions. The phase space integration of the matrix element gives the total and differential cross sections, then unweighted events are generated. Sparticle widths and decay branching ratios a…
Recent re-evaluations of the Standard Model (SM) contribution to ${\mathcal Br(b\to sγ)$ hint at a positive correction from new physics. Since a charged Higgs boson exchange always gives a positive contribution to this branching ratio, the constraint points to the possibility of a relatively light charged Higgs. It is found that under the HFAG constraints and with re-evaluated SM results large cancellations between the charged Higgs and the chargino contributions in supersymmetric models occur. Such cancellations then correlate the charged Higgs and the chargino masses often implying both are …
We propose a new mass reconstruction technique for SUSY processes at the LHC. The idea is to completely solve the kinematics of the SUSY cascade decay by using the assumption that the selected events satisfy the same mass shell conditions of the sparticles involved in the cascade decay. Using this technique, we study the measurement of the mass of the bottom squarks in the cascade decay of the gluino. Based on the final state including two high p_T leptons and two b-jets, we investigate different possible approaches to the mass reconstruction of the gluino and the two bottom squarks. In partic…
Supersymmetric (SUSY) explanation of the discrepancy between the measurement of $(g-2)_μ$ and its SM prediction puts strong upper bounds on the chargino and smuon masses. At the same time, lower experimental limits on the chargino and smuon masses, combined with the Higgs mass measurement, lead to an upper bound on the stop masses. The current LHC limits on the chargino and smuon masses (for not too compressed spectrum) set the upper bound on the stop masses of about 10 TeV. The discovery potential of the future lepton and hadron colliders should lead to the discovery of SUSY if it is responsi…
We assess the future directions for the search for supersymmetry at the Large Hadron Collider in view of the new precision results on the muon anomaly by the Fermilab Collaboration. The existence of a deviation of size 4.1$σ$ from the Standard Model prediction points to light sleptons and light weakinos in the mass range of few hundred GeV while the observation of the Higgs boson mass at $\sim 125$ GeV points to squark masses lying in the few TeV range. Thus a split sparticle spectrum is indicated. We discuss the possibility of such a split sparticle spectrum in the supergravity unified model …
We discuss the potential of combined analyses at the Large Hadron Collider and the planned International Linear Collider to explore low-energy supersymmetry in a difficult region of the parameter space characterized by masses of the scalar SUSY particles around 2 TeV. Precision analyses of cross sections for light chargino production and forward--backward asymmetries of decay leptons and hadrons at the ILC, together with mass information on chi^0_2 and squarks from the LHC, allow us to determine the underlying fundamental gaugino/higgsino MSSM parameters and to constrain the masses of the heav…
Given that the LHC experiment has produced strong constraints on the colored supersymmetric particles (sparticles), testing the electroweak supersymmetry (EWSUSY) will be the next crucial task at the LHC. On the other hand, the light electroweakinos and sleptons in the EWSUSY can also contribute to the dark matter (DM) and low energy lepton observables. The precision measurements of them will provide the indirect evidence of SUSY. In this work, we confront the EWSUSY with the muon $g-2$ anomaly, the DM relic density, the direct detection limits and the latest LHC Run-2 data. We find that the s…
We show that an enhanced two-photon signal of the Higgs boson, h, observed with 125 GeV mass by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations, can be obtained if it is identified principally with the neutral $H_u^0$ of the two Higgs doublets of minimal Supersymmetry. We focus on sparticles and the pseudoscalar Higgs $A$ at the TeV scale. The off-diagonal element of the (Hu0,Hd0) mass matrix in the flavor basis must be suppressed, and this requires both a large Higgsino mass parameter, mu \sim TeV, and large tan beta. A MSSM sum rule is derived that relates gamma gamma and bb rates, and the gamma gamma enha…
Future sattelite (MAP and Planck) balloon and ground based experiments will the determine the basic cosmological parameters within a few percent. We examine here the effect of this on constraining the SUSY parameter space for supergravity R-parity conserving models (with tanbeta < 25) for the cases of nuCDM and LambdaCDM cosmological models. For the nuCDM (LambdaCDM) models, the gluino mass is restricted by m_g~ < 720(540)GeV. In both cases, the cosmological constraints are sensitive to non-universal SUSY soft breaking producing a lower bound m_g~ > 400GeV in some regions and for the nuCDM mod…
An overview of hints for new physics outside the Standard Model and the status of sparticle and Higgs searches is given. The present limits on Higgs bosons of about 90 GeV as well as the $\bsg$ rate and cosmological constraints severely restrict the available parameter space of the MSSM.
When several sparticle masses are known, the kinematics of SUSY decay processes observed at the LHC can be solved if the cascade decays contain sufficient steps. We demonstrate four examples of this full reconstruction technique applied to channels involving leptons, namely a) gluino mass determination, b) sbottom mass determination, c) LSP momentum reconstruction, and d) heavy higgs mass determination.
The LHC has the potential not only to discover supersymmetry (SUSY), but also to permit fairly precise measurements of at least a portion of the sparticle spectrum. Proposed mass reconstruction methods rely upon either inverting invariant mass endpoint expressions or upon solving systems of mass-shell equations. These methodologies suffer from the weakness that one certain specific sparticle decay chain is assumed to account for all the events in the sample. Taking two examples of techniques utilizing mass-shell equations, it is found that also applying the wedgebox technique allows for the is…
In light of the Higgs discovery and the nonobservation of sparticles at the LHC, we revisit the SUSY induced top quark flavor changing decay into the Higgs boson. We perform a scan over the relevant SUSY parameter space by considering the constraints from the Higgs mass measurement, the LHC search for SUSY, the vacuum stability, the precision electro-weak observables as well as $B \to X_s γ$. We have the following observations: (1) In the MSSM, the branching ratio of $ t \to c h$ can only reach $3.0\times10^{-6}$, which is about one order smaller than previous results obtained before the adven…
We utilize the recent LHC-13 TeV data to study the lower mass bound on top-squark (stop) in natural supersymmetry. We recast the LHC sparticle inclusive search of $(\ge 1){\rm jets} + E^{miss}_T$ with $α_T$ variable, the direct stop pair search (1-lepton channel and all-hadronic channel) and the monojet analyses. We find that these searches are complementary depending on stop and higgsino masses: for a heavy stop the all-hadronic stop pair search provides the strongest bound, for an intermediate stop the inclusive SUSY analysis with $α_T$ variable is most efficient, while for a compressed stop…
We use $t, b, τ$ Yukawa unification to constrain SUSY parameter space. We find a narrow region survives for $μ> 0$ (suggested by \bsgam and the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon) with $A_0 \sim - 1.9 m_{16}$, $m_{10} \sim 1.4 m_{16}$, $m_{16} \sim 1200 -3000$ \gev and $μ, M_{1/2} \sim 100 - 500$ \gev. Demanding Yukawa unification thus makes definite predictions for Higgs and sparticle masses.
The recent discovery of a 125 GeV Higgs-like resonance at LHC, coupled with the lack of evidence for weak scale supersymmetry (SUSY), have severely constrained SUSY models such as mSUGRA/CMSSM. As LHC probes deeper into SUSY model parameter space, the little hierarchy problem -- how to reconcile the Z and Higgs boson mass scale with the scale of SUSY breaking -- will become increasingly exacerbated unless a sparticle signal is found. We evaluate two different measures of fine-tuning in the mSUGRA/CMSSM model. The more stringent of these, Δ_{HS}, includes effects that arise from the high scale …
This paper introduces a random statistical scan over the high-energy initial parameter space of the minimal SUSY $B-L$ model--denoted as the $B-L$ MSSM. Each initial set of points is renormalization group evolved to the electroweak scale--being subjected, sequentially, to the requirement of radiative $B-L$ and electroweak symmetry breaking, the present experimental lower bounds on the $B-L$ vector boson and sparticle masses, as well as the lightest neutral Higgs mass of $\sim$125 GeV. The subspace of initial parameters that satisfies all such constraints is presented, shown to be robust and to…
Sparticle production and detection at HERA are studied within the recently proposed no-scale flipped $SU(5)$ supergravity model. Among the various reaction channels that could lead to sparticle production at HERA, only the following are within its limit of sensitivity in this model: $e^-p\to \tilde e^-_{L,R}χ^0_i+X, \tilde ν_eχ^-_1+X$, where $χ^0_i(i=1,2)$ are the two lightest neutralinos and $χ^-_1$ is the lightest chargino. We study the elastic and deep-inelastic contributions to the cross sections using the Weizsäcker-Williams approximation. We find that the most promising supersymmetric pr…
We thoroughly discuss a new supersymmetric grand unified scenario of the triplet seesaw mechanism where the exchange of heavy SU(2)_W triplet states generates both neutrino masses and soft supersymmetry breaking terms. This framework, recently proposed by us in a previous work, is highly predictive since it contains only three free parameters connecting low-energy neutrino parameters, lepton and quark flavour violation, sparticle and Higgs boson spectra and electroweak symmetry breakdown. These three parameters are the triplet mass M_T, the effective supersymmetry breaking scale B_T and a coup…
The current searches of supersymmetry (SUSY) are based on the neutralino lightest sparticle (LSP). In this article we instead focus on SUSY with sneutrino LSP. It is well motivated in many contexts, especially in which sneutrino services as a dark matter candidate. We first develop a simplified model, which contains the stop, chagino/neutralino and sneutrino, to describe the LHC phenomenologies of a large class of models with sneutrino LSP. Then we investigate bounds on the model using the SUSY searches at the 8 TeV LHC. Strong exclusion limits are derived, e.g., masses of stop and chargino ca…
The string theory landscape of vacua solutions provides physicists with some understanding as to the magnitude of the cosmological constant. Similar reasoning can be applied to the magnitude of the soft SUSY breaking terms in supersymmetric models of particle physics: there appears to be a statistical draw towards large soft terms which is tempered by the anthropic requirement of the weak scale lying not too far from ~100 GeV. For a mild statistical draw of m_{soft}^n with n=1 (as expected from SUSY breaking due to a single F term) then the light Higgs mass is preferred at ~125 GeV while spart…
Data from the LHC at 7, 8, and 13 TeV have so far yielded no evidence for new particles beyond the 125 GeV Higgs boson; in particular, there have been no signs of SUSY. However, the complementary nature of physics with $e^+e^-$ collisions still offers many interesting scenarios in which SUSY can be discovered at the ILC. These scenarios take advantage of the capability of $e^+e^-$ collisions to observe events with missing four-momentum -- a signature not available at hadron colliders, where only transverse imbalance is observable. Due to low backgrounds and trigger-less operation, detectors at…
ATLAS and CMS collaborations have searched for the supersymmetry (SUSY) in different channels with 7 TeV center-of-mass energy and their search strategies are optimized for the SUSY scenarios with fairly large mass splittings among the sparticles. In absence of any significant deviation of the data from the Standard Model (SM) prediction, stringent bounds are imposed on the squarks and gluino masses in the context of different SUSY scenarios. Since the exact SUSY breaking mechanism is not known, some part of the SUSY spectrum may be degenerate. In this paper, we consider two particular cases o…
The reconstruction of non pointing photons is a key feature for studying gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking (GMSB) models at the LHC. In this article the angular resolution of the ATLAS electromagnetic calorimeter is characterized from a detailed simulation of the detector. Resulting performances are used to reconstruct GMSB events with a fast simulation program, taking into account reconstruction effects. Finally, the sensitivity to extract the sparticles masses and the lightest neutralino lifetime is estimated.
Constraints from flavour changing neutral currents are discussed in the context of predictive Grand Unified Supersymmetric Theories. Uncertainties in the estimation of their amplitudes are minimized by using a successful mass matrix ansatz which predicts the arbitrary parameters of the Standard Model. Furthermore, Renormalization Group Equations are used in order to express the sparticle masses involved, in terms of the gaugino mass $m_{1/2}$, the universal scalar mass $m_0$ and the trilinear coupling $A$ at the GUT scale. Modifications in the low energy expressions for the squark masses due t…
