We deal with the asymptotic behaviour for $λ\to+\infty$ of the counting function $N_P(λ)$ of certain positive selfadjoint operators $P$ with double order $(m,μ)$, $m,μ>0$, $m\not=μ$, defined on a manifold with ends $M$. The structure of this class of noncompact manifolds allows to make use of calculi of pseudodifferential operators and Fourier Integral Operators associated with weighted symbols globally defined on $\mathbb{R}^n$. By means of these tools, we improve known results concerning the remainder terms of the Weyl Formulae for $N_P(λ)$ and show how their behaviour depends on the ratio $\frac{m}μ$ and the dimension of $M$.

Geometric analysis on manifolds with ends

In this survey article, we discuss some recent progress on geometric analysis on manifold with ends. In the final section, we construct manifolds with ends with oscillating volume functions which may turn out to have a different heat kernel estimates from those provided by known results.

$L^2$ boundedness of pseudodifferential operators on manifolds with ends

We investigate properties of pseudodifferential operators on $L^2$ space on manifold with ends including asymptotically conical or hyperbolic ends. Our pseudodifferential operators are a generalization of the canonical quantization which naturally appears in the quantum mechanics on curved spaces. We prove a Calderón-Vaillancourt type theorem for our pseudodifferential operators and discuss a construction of parametrix of elliptic differential operators on manifolds with ends.

Elliptic boundary problems on manifolds with polycylindrical ends

We investigate general Shapiro-Lopatinsky elliptic boundary value problems on manifolds with polycylindrical ends. This is accomplished by compactifying such a manifold to a manifold with corners of in general higher codimension, and we then deal with boundary value problems for cusp differential operators. We introduce an adapted Boutet de Monvel's calculus of pseudodifferential boundary value problems, and construct parametrices for elliptic cusp operators within this calculus. Poincaré constant on manifolds with ends

We obtain optimal estimates of the Poincaré constant of central balls on manifolds with finitely many ends. Surprisingly enough, the Poincaré constant is determined by the second largest end. The proof is based on the argument by Kusuoka-Stroock where the heat kernel estimates on the central balls play an essential role. For this purpose, we extend earlier heat kernel estimates obtained by the authors to a larger class of parabolic manifolds with ends.

Wodzicki Residue for Operators on Manifolds with Cylindrical Ends

We define the Wodzicki Residue TR(A) for A in a space of operators with double order (m_1,m_2). Such operators are globally defined initially on R^n and then, more generally, on a class of non-compact manifolds, namely, the manifolds with cylindrical ends. The definition is based on the analysis of the associate zeta function. Using this approach, under suitable ellipticity assumptions, we also compute a two terms leading part of the Weyl formula for a positive selfadjoint operator belonging the mentioned class in the case m_1=m_2.

Boundedness of maximal functions on non-doubling manifolds with ends

Let $M$ be a manifold with ends constructed in \cite{GS} and $Δ$ be the Laplace-Beltrami operator on $M$. In this note, we show the weak type $(1,1)$ and $L^p$ boundedness of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal function and of the maximal function associated with the heat semigroup $\M_Δf(x)=\sup_{t> 0} |\exp (-tΔ)f(x)| $ on $L^p(M)$ for $1 < p \le \infty$. The significance of these results comes from the fact that $M$ does not satisfies the doubling condition.

Riesz transform and $L^p$ cohomology for manifolds with Euclidean ends

Let $M$ be a smooth Riemannian manifold which is the union of a compact part and a finite number of Euclidean ends, $\RR^n \setminus B(0,R)$ for some $R > 0$, each of which carries the standard metric. Our main result is that the Riesz transform on $M$ is bounded from $L^p(M) \to L^p(M; T^*M)$ for $1 < p < n$ and unbounded for $p \geq n$ if there is more than one end. It follows from known results that in such a case the Riesz transform on $M$ is bounded for $1 < p \leq 2$ and unbounded for $p > n$; the result is new for $2 < p \leq n$.
