We investigate the impact of recent limits from LHC searches for supersymmetry and from direct and indirect searches for dark matter on global Bayesian inferences of the parameter space of the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (CMSSM). In particular we apply recent exclusion limits from the CMS α_T analysis of 1.1/fb of integrated luminosity, the current direct detection dark matter limit from XENON100, as well as recent experimental constraints on γ-ray fluxes from dwarf spheroidal satellite galaxies of the Milky Way from the FermiLAT telescope, in addition to updating values for other non-LHC experimental constraints. We extend the range of scanned parameters to include a significant fraction of the focus point/hyperbolic branch region. While we confirm earlier conclusions that at present LHC limits provide the strongest constraints on the model's parameters, we also find that when the uncertainties are not treated in an excessively conservative way, the new bounds from dwarf spheroidal have the power to significantly constrain the focus point/hyperbolic branch region. Their effect is then comparable, if not stronger, to that from XENON100. We further analyze the effects of one-year projected sensitivities on the neutrino flux from the Sun in the 86-string IceCube+DeepCore configuration at the South Pole. We show that data on neutrinos from the Sun, expected for the next few months at IceCube and DeepCore, have the potential to further constrain the same region of parameter space independently of the LHC and can yield additional investigating power for the model.
We present the two-loop $β$-functions for non-standard soft supersymmetry-breaking couplings including non-standard R-parity violating soft terms in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model
Supersymmetric models with broken R-parity provide mechanisms that allow to generate Majorana neutrino masses and magnetic moments through virtual particle-sparticle loops. This constitutes an attractive alternative to the see-saw mechanism. In this paper we present a detailed calculation of the transition magnetic moments of a Majorana neutrino in gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking MSSM without R-parity. We base our analysis on the renormalization group evolution of the MSSM parameters, which are unified at the GUT scale.
The R-parity non-conservation phenomenology within the minimal supersymmetric standard model with gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking has been studied. New constraints on the lepton number violating constant $λ_{111}^\prime$ were imposed by non-observability of the neutrinoless double beta decay. We find that $λ_{111}^\prime$ depends strongly on the effective supersymmetry breaking scale $Λ$ only and deduce limits which are much stronger than those previously found in literature.
The possibility of generating a large trilinear $A_t$ soft supersymmetry breaking coupling at low energies through renormalisation group evolution in the 5D MSSM is investigated. Using the power law running in five dimensions and a compactification scale in the 10-$10^3$ TeV range, to show that gluino mass may drive a large enough $A_t$ to reproduce the measured Higgs mass and have a light stop superpartner below $\sim 1$ TeV as preferred by the fine tuning argument for the Higgs mass.
We explore the implications of monojet searches at hadron colliders in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM). To quantify the impact of monojet searches, we consider simplified MSSM scenarios with neutralino dark matter. The monojet results of the LHC Run 1 are reinterpreted in the context of several MSSM simplified scenarios, and the complementarity with direct supersymmetry search results is highlighted. We also investigate the reach of monojet searches for the Run 2, as well as for future higher energy hadron colliders.
The implications of the LHC SUSY searches as well as the discovery of a new bosonic state compatible with the lightest Higgs boson will be discussed in the context of constrained and general MSSM scenarios. Exploring the MSSM through the Higgs sector is an alternative and complementary path to direct searches, and tight constraints on the MSSM parameter space can be obtained.
An introduction to the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) is given. The motivation for ``low-energy'' supersymmetry is reviewed, and the structure of the MSSM is outlined. In its most general form, the MSSM can be viewed as a low-energy effective theory parametrized by a set of arbitrary soft-supersymmetry-breaking parameters. A variety of techniques for reducing the parameter freedom of the MSSM are surveyed. The search for supersymmetry below and above the threshold for supersymmetric particle production presents a challenging task for experimentalists at present and future collide…
A fairly elementary introduction to supersymmetric field theories in general and the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) in particular is given. Topics covered include the cancellation of quadratic divergencies, the construction of the supersymmetric Lagrangian using superfields, the field content of the MSSM, electroweak symmetry breaking in the MSSM, mixing between different superparticles (current eigenstates) to produce mass eigenstates, and the embedding of the MSSM in so--called minimal supergravity.
Collisions of non-topological solitons, Q-balls, are studied in a typical potential in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model where supersymmetry has been broken by a gravitationally coupled hidden sector. Q-ball collisions are studied numerically on a two dimensional lattice for a range of Q-ball charges. Total cross-sections, as well as cross-sections for fusion and charge-exchange are calculated. The average percentage increase in charge carried by the largest Q-ball after a collision is found to be weakly dependent on the initial charge.
Collisions of non-topological solitons, Q-balls, are considered in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model where supersymmetry has been broken at a low energy scale via a gauge mediated mechanism. Q-ball collisions are studied numerically on a two dimensional lattice for a range of Q-ball charges. Total cross-sections, as well as fusion and geometrical cross-sections are calculated. The total and geometrical cross-sections appear to converge with increasing charge. The fusion cross-section has been estimated to be larger than 60% of the geometrical cross-section for large balls.
We study a supersymmetry breaking mechanism in the context of a minimal anomalous extension of the MSSM. The anomaly cancellation mechanism is achieved through suitable counterterms in the effective action, i.e. Green-Schwarz terms. We assume that the standard MSSM superpotential is perturbatively realized, i.e. all terms allowed by gauge symmetries, except for the $μ$-term which has a non-perturbative origin. The presence of this term is expected in many intersecting D-brane models which can be considered as the ultraviolet completion of our model. We show how soft supersymmetry breaking term…
These lecture notes are from a first course on the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. The level of the notes is introductory and pedagogical. Standard Model, basic supersymmetry algebra and its representations are considered as prerequisites. The topics covered include particle content, structure of the lagrangian, supersymmetry breaking soft terms, electroweak symmetry breaking and the sparticle mass spectrum. Popular supersymmetry breaking models like minimal supergravity and gauge mediation are also introduced.
The Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) can include two soft breaking terms which are often neglected: a non-analytic scalar trilinear coupling and a Higgsino bilinear term. A set of high-scale boundary conditions consistent with the reparameterisation invariance which the model possesses is obtained. The three-family renormalisation group equations for the MSSM with these terms are presented. The ranges of the universal high-scale values of these couplings which lead to an acceptable TeV-scale theory are obtained, as is the supersymmetric particle spectrum at this scale. The effect o…
Excited Q-balls are studied by numerical simulations in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with supersymmetry broken by a gravity mediated mechanism. It is found that there is a suppression factor of $\cO(10^{-2})$ in the rate at which a Q-ball can emit their excess energy compared to the rate set by the dynamical scale of the field, $m$. Furthermore, it is noted that a Q-ball can withstand a large amount of excess energy without losing a significant amount of its charge. The cosmological importance of these properties are considered for Q-balls in the thermal bath of the early universe…
In this paper we study the constraints on MSSM R-Parity violating decays when the Lightest Superpartner (LSP) is moderately long lived. In this scenario the LSP vertex displacement may be observed at the LHC. We compute limits on the RPV Yukawa couplings for which the vertex displacement signature maybe used. We then use ATLAS and CMS displaced vertex, meta-stable and prompt decay searches to rule out a region of sparticle masses.
The LEP era has brought immense progress in searches for Higgs bosons over the last 12 years which will guide searches at future colliders. The evolution of the Higgs boson mass limits are reviewed with the focus on results from general parameter scans in the Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (MSSM) in contrast to the so-called benchmark limits. The hint for a Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson of 115.6 GeV can also be interpreted as a preference for a Higgs boson of that mass in the MSSM. Further small data excesses allow the hypothesis that the neutral Higgs bosons of the M…
These lectures, presented at the 2006 TASI summer school, give a general introduction to supersymmetry, emphasizing its application to models of elementary particle physics at the 100 GeV energy scale. I discuss the following topics: the construction of supersymmetric Lagrangians with scalars, fermions, and gauge bosons, the structure and mass spectrum of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), the measurement of the parameters of the MSSM at high-energy colliders, and the solutions that the MSSM gives to the problems of electroweak symmetry breaking and dark matter.
We study the most general extension of the MSSM Lagrangian that includes scenarios in which supersymmetry is spontaneously broken at a low scale f. The spurion that parametrizes supersymmetry breaking in the MSSM is promoted to a dynamical superfield involving the goldstino, with (and without) its scalar superpartner, the sgoldstino. The low energy effective Lagrangian is written as an expansion in terms of m_{SUSY}/sqrt{f}, where m_{SUSY} is the induced supersymmetry breaking scale, and contains, in addition to the usual MSSM Lagrangian with the soft terms, couplings involving the component f…
We consider $μ$-term hybrid inflation which, in its minimal format with gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking, leads to split supersymmetry. The MSSM $μ$-term in this framework is larger than the gravitino mass $m_G$, and successful inflation requires $m_G$ (and hence also $|μ|$) $\gtrsim 5 \times 10^7$ GeV, such that the gravitino decays before the LSP neutralino freezes out. Assuming universal scalar masses of the same order as $m_G$, this leads to split supersymmetry. The LSP wino with mass $\simeq$ 2 TeV is a plausible dark matter candidate, the gluino may be accessible at the LHC, and t…
We study the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with large gluino mass m_{\tilde{g}} >> 1 TeV. In particular, we discuss the LHC supersymmetry discovery signatures with n leptons + jets + E^{miss}_T, n >= 0 for the MSSM with large gluino mass. We show that for some relations among squark and neutralino masses leptonic signatures with n leptons + jets + E^{miss}_T, n >= 1 do not allow to discover supersymmetry at the LHC and the only supersymmetry discovery signature remains the signature with no leptons + jets + E^{miss}_T. Moreover, for LSP mass close to squark masses the LHC discov…
We present a five-dimensional model compactified on an interval where supersymmetry is broken by the Scherk-Schwarz mechanism. The gauge sector propagates in the bulk, two Higgs hypermultiplets are quasilocalized, and quark and lepton multiplets localized, in one of the boundaries. The effective four-dimensional theory is the MSSM with very heavy gauginos, heavy squarks and light sleptons and Higgsinos. The soft tree-level squared masses of the Higgs sector can be negative and they can (partially) cancel the positive one-loop contributions from the gauge sector. Electroweak symmetry breaking c…
We present here the results for Higgs and Supersymmetry prospective searches at the Large Hadron Collider. We show that for one year at high luminosity, Standard Model and MSSM Higgs should be observed within the theoretically expected mass range. MSUGRA and restricted phenomenological MSSM searches lead to discovery of up to 2.5 TeV squarks and gluinos.
Final results from the MSSM Higgs boson searches from the LEP experiments ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL are presented. The results are statistically combined and the statistical significance for signal and background hypotheses are given. Upper bounds on the production cross sections are set for several Higgs-like topologies. Interpretations for six benchmark scenarios in the MSSM, both for CP-conserving and CP-violating scenarios, are given. Limits on the tan(beta) parameter, and in some scenarios upper limits on the neutral Higgs boson masses are set.
We briefly review the status of motivated beyond-the-MSSM phenomenology in the light of the LHC searches to date. In particular, we discuss the conceptual consequences of the exclusion bounds, of the hint for a Higgs boson at about 125 GeV, and of interpreting the excess of direct CP violation in the charm sector as a signal of New Physics. We try to go into the various topics in a compact way while providing a relatively rich list of references, with particular attention to the most recent developments.
We investigate the muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment (MDM), the muon electric dipole moment (EDM) and the lepton-flavour-violating decays of the $τ-$lepton, $τ\to μγ$ and $τ\to 3μ$, in the CP-violating Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with nonuniversal soft-supersymmetry breaking. We evaluate numerically the muon EDM and the branching ratios $B(τ\to μγ)$ and $B(τ\to 3μ)$, after taking into account the experimental constraints from the electron EDM and muon MDM. Upon imposition of the experimental limits on our theoretical predictions for the aforementioned branching ratios and …
In the framework of the MSSM the non-universal boundary conditions of soft SUSY breaking parameters are considered. Taking as input the top, bottom and Z-boson masses, the values of the gauge couplings at the EW scale and the infrared quasi-fixed points for Yukawa couplings and the soft parameters the mass of the lightest CP-even Higgs boson is found to be m_h=92.7^{+10}_{-4.9} +- 5 +- 0.4 GeV/c^2 for the low \tanβcase and m_h=125.7^{+6.4}_{-9.0} +- 5 +- 0.4 GeV/c^2 (μ> 0) or m_h =125.4^{+6.6}_{-9.0} +-5 +- 0.4 GeV/c^2 (μ< 0) in the case of large $\tanβ$.
We reanalyze the results of the chargino searches at LEP (on the basis of the DELPHI 189 GeV data sample), including the possibility of complex MSSM parameters. We point out the possible differences between the complex- and real-parameter analysis. We check that the regions excluded by ``standard'' analyses remain generally robust against the introduction of complex parameters, with the exception of light sneutrino and low $\tanβ$ scenario, where additional constraints like those given by the $Z^0$ width or electric dipole moment measurements are necessary.
We work out the phenomenology of a model of supersymmetry breaking in the presence of a tiny (tunable) positive cosmological constant, proposed by the authors in arXiv:1403.1534. It utilises a single chiral multiplet with a gauged shift symmetry, that can be identified with the string dilaton (or an appropriate compactification modulus). The model is coupled to the MSSM, leading to calculable soft supersymmetry breaking masses and a distinct low energy phenomenology that allows to differentiate it from other models of supersymmetry breaking and mediation mechanisms.
The Fermi-Lab Collaboration has announced the results for the measurement of muon anomalous magnetic moment. Combining with the previous results by the BNL experiment, we have $4.2 σ$ deviation from the Standard Model (SM), which strongly implies the new physics around 1 TeV. To explain the muon anomalous magnetic moment naturally, we analyze the corresponding five Feynman diagrams in the Supersymetric SMs (SSMs), and show that the Electroweak Supersymmetry (EWSUSY) is definitely needed. We realize the EWSUSY in the Minimal SSM (MSSM) with Genernalized Mininal Supergravity (GmSUGRA). We find l…
Possible realistic scenarios are investigated in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) Higgs sector extended by dimension-six effective operators. The CP-odd Higgs boson with low mass around 30--90 GeV could be consistently introduced in the regime of large threshold corrections to the effective MSSM two-doublet Higgs potential.
The predictions of the \sm and the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM) for the electroweak precision parameters are discussed in the light of the recent precision data. The results from global fits yield lower $χ^2$ values in the MSSM than in the Standard model. The fits prefer regions in the MSSM parameter space with $M_2 \simeq |μ| $ and allow chargino masses higher than the present exclusion limits of LEP 1.5.
The prospects for discovering neutral Higgs bosons in the minimal supersymmetric model (MSSM) and in the minimal supergravity model at the LHC are investigated. Two special discovery channels are discussed: (i) the decay mode of the MSSM CP-odd Higgs boson into photon pairs, and (ii) the decays of neutral Higgs bosons into muon pairs in the MSSM as well as in the minimal supergravity model.
We discuss the structure of the soft supersymmetry breaking terms in a MSSM like model, which can be derived from D7-branes with chiral matter fields from 2-form f-fluxes and supersymmetry breaking from 3-form G-fluxes.
Up until now a complete scan in all phenomenologically relevant directions of the MSSM at the TeV scale for performing global fit has not been done. Given the imminent start of operation of the LHC, this is a major gap on our quest to discovering and understanding the physical implications of low energy supersymmetry. The main reason for this is the large number of parameters involved that makes it computationally extremely expensive using the traditional methods. In this talk I demonstrate that with advanced sampling techniques the problem is solvable. The results from the explored 24-paramet…
Using a Markov chain Monte Carlo approach, we find the allowed parameter space of a MSSM model with seven free parameters. In this model universality conditions at the GUT scale are imposed on the gaugino sector. We require in particular that the relic density of dark matter saturates the value extracted from cosmological measurements assuming a standard cosmological scenario. We characterize the parameter space of the model that satisfies experimental constraints and illustrate the complementarity of the LHC searches, B-physics observables and direct dark matter searches for further probing t…
We discuss the constraints on Supersymmetry in the Higgs sector arising from LHC searches, rare B decays and dark matter direct detection experiments. We show that constraints derived on the mass of the lightest h0 and the CP-odd A0 bosons from these searches are covering a broader fraction of the SUSY parameter space compared to searches for strongly interacting supersymmetric particle partners. We discuss the implications of a mass determination in the range 123 < Mh < 127 GeV, inspired by the intriguing hints reported by the ATLAS and CMS collaborations, as well as those of a non-observatio…
We study the dependence of the Higgs boson mass on the supersymmetry breaking scale in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard Weinberg-Salam model. In particular, we find that for supersymmetry breaking scale $10^8$ GeV $\leq M_s \leq 10^{16}$ GeV and for $m^{pole}_{top} = 175 \pm 5 $ GeV the Higgs boson mass is 120 GeV $ \leq m_h \leq 160 $ GeV
We study the predictions for M_top, tan(beta) and V_cb in a popular texture ansatze for the fermion mass matrices. We do this both for the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) and for the simplest model (MSSM-BRpV) where a bilinear R-Parity violating term is added to the superpotential. We find that taking the experimental values for M_top and V_cb at 99 % C.L. and the GUT relations h_b=h_tau and (V_cb)^2=h_c/h_t within 5 %, the large tan(beta) solution, characteristic in the MSSM with bottom--tau unification, becomes disallowed. In contrast the corresponding allowed region for the MSS…
We study theoretical implications of direct dark matter searches in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). We assume that no accidental cancellations occur in the spin-independent elastic neutralino-quark scattering cross section, but do not impose any relations among the weak-scale MSSM parameters. We show that direct detection cross section below 10^-44 cm^2 requires the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) neutralino to be close to either a pure gaugino or pure Higgsino limit, with smaller cross sections correlated with smaller admixture of the subdominant components. The curre…
In the framework of the effective field theory approach to heavy supersymmetry radiative corrections in the Higgs sector of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) for the effective potential decomposition up to the dimension-six operators are calculated. Symbolic expressions for the threshold corrections induced by $F$- and $D$- soft supersymmetry breaking terms are derived and the Higgs boson mass spectrum respecting the condition $m_h=$125 GeV for the lightest $CP$-even scalar is evaluated.
Searches for supersymmetry are among the most exciting physics goals at Run II of the Tevatron. In particular, in supersymmetric models with light charginos, neutralinos and sleptons, associated chargino--neutralino production can potentially be observed as multi-lepton events with missing energy. We discuss how, in the generic TeV-scale MSSM, the prospects for these chargino-neutralino searches are impacted by cosmological considerations, namely the neutralino relic abundance and direct detection limits. We also discuss what an observation of chargino-neutralino production at the Tevatron wou…
We have recently completed a detailed scan of the 19-dimensional parameter space of the phenomenological MSSM, i.e., the CP-conserving MSSM assuming Minimal Flavor Violation(MFV) with the first two sfermion generations degenerate. We found a large set of parameter space points that satisfied all of the existing experimental and theoretical constraints. This analysis allows us to examine the general features of the MSSM without reference to any particular SUSY breaking scenario or any other assumptions about physics at higher scales. This study opens up new possibilities for SUSY phenomenology …
Searches for Beyond the Standard Model Higgs processes in the context of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and Next to MSSM are presented. The results are based on the first LHC run of pp collision data recorded by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the CERN Large Hadron Collider at centre-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to integrated luminosities of about 5 and 20 fb$^{-1}$ respectively. Current searches constrain large parts of the parameter space. No evidence for BSM Higgs is found.
We propose the gravitino dark matter in the gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking scenario. The mass hierarchies between the gravitino and other superparticles can be achieved by the nontrivial Kähler metric of the supersymmetry breaking field. As a concrete model, we consider the five-dimensional supergravity model in which moduli are stabilized, and then one of the moduli induces the slow-roll inflation. It is found that the relic abundance of the gravitino and the Higgs boson mass reside in the allowed range without a severe fine-tuning.
The status of SUSY searches at LEP2 up to centre-of-mass energy of 202 GeV is presented. Search strategies for sleptons, squarks, charginos and neutralinos are discussed in the framework of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with R-parity conservation. With no indication for the production of these particles new limits are set on their masses.
We analyze the Tevatron reach for neutral Higgs bosons in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), using current exclusion limits on the Standard Model Higgs. We study four common benchmark scenarios for the soft supersymmetry-breaking parameters of the MSSM, including cases where the Higgs decays differ significantly from the Standard Model, and provide projections for the improvements in luminosity and efficiency required for the Tevatron to probe sizeable regions of the $(m_A, \tanβ)$ plane.
We consider a supersymmetric realization of the MSSM Higgs sector, where the soft terms are promoted to supersymmetric operators and a minimal weakly coupled hidden sector is included. The model exhibits long-lived meta-stable vacua in which supersymmetry and electroweak symmetry are spontaneously broken. The spectrum contains, in addition to the usual MSSM particles and the goldstino fermion, a CP-even and a CP-odd scalar in the neutral Higgs sector corresponding to the complex sgoldstino scalar. By treating all the components of the goldstino supermultiplet dynamically and taking into accoun…
This paper discusses the possibility to observe a signal from MSSM Higgs boson decays into final states containing four b-jets. Two specific channels are considered: bbH and bbA production with H,A -->bb, for large values of mH, mA and tan(beta), and H-->hh-->bbbb decays for 150 GeV < mH < 2 and for low values of tan(beta). Both channels are difficult to extract because of the very large reducible and irreducible QCD backgrounds. Even with an ultimate integrated luminosity, expected per LHC experiment, of 3*10**5 pb**-1, the region of the MSSM parameter space covered by these channels does not…
The Higgs boson search has shifted from LEP2 to the Tevatron and will subsequently move to the LHC. Due to the different initial states, the Higgs production and decay channels relevant for Higgs boson searches were different at LEP2 to what they are at hadron colliders. We suggest new benchmark scenarios for the MSSM Higgs boson search at hadron colliders that exemplify the phenomenology of different parts of the MSSM parameter space. Besides the m_h^max scenario and the no-mixing scenario used in the LEP2 Higgs boson searches, we propose two new scenarios. In one the main production channel …
We confront the ATLAS and CMS new physics searches with simplified models from R-parity violating (RPV) supersymmetry that contain naturally light stops and higgsinos. We emphasize the important role played by searches for exotic heavy quarks and leptoquarks and discuss how these searches could be modified to better address RPV scenarios. We also argue that it would be useful to design searches for new physics based on the ttbar cross section measurements, to enhance searches for taus + jets + MET with regions with b tagging and reduced MET requirements, and to expand the search program for al…
We interpret within the phenomenological MSSM (pMSSM) the results of SUSY searches published by the CMS collaboration based on the first ~1 fb^-1 of data taken during the 2011 LHC run at 7 TeV. The pMSSM is a 19-dimensional parametrization of the MSSM that captures most of its phenomenological features. It encompasses, and goes beyond, a broad range of more constrained SUSY models. Performing a global Bayesian analysis, we obtain posterior probability densities of parameters, masses and derived observables. In contrast to constraints derived for particular SUSY breaking schemes, such as the CM…
Supersymmetric extensions of the standard model generically contain additional sources of CP violation. We discuss how at one loop a potentially large CP violating coupling of the lightest Higgs, h^0, to leptons is induced in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). The CP violating couplings of h^0 in extensions of the MSSM, such as the next-to-minimal supersymmetric standard model (NMSSM) are also considered. We indicate how this CP violation might be observed; in particular a polarization-dependent production asymmetry, in the context of a muon collider, provides a means to access …
We show that previous proposals to accommodate the MSSM with string theory N=0 non-supersymmetric compactifications coming from intersecting D6-branes may be made fully consistent with the cancellation of RR tadpoles. In this respect we present the first examples of non-supersymmetric string Pati-Salam model vacua with starting observable gauge group $SU(4)_c \t SU(2)_L \t SU(2)_R$ (SU(2) from Sp(2)'s) that accommodate the spectrum of the 3 generation MSSM with a gauged baryon number with all extra exotics (either chiral or non-chiral) becoming massive and all MSSM Yukawas realized. The N=1 su…
We present an overview of direct and indirect constraints in the MSSM, in CP-conserving and CP-violating MSSM scenarios, with some emphasis on the importance of combining the constraints from different sectors, namely SUSY and Higgs direct searches at the LHC, flavour physics, dark matter and electric dipole moments.
We calculate the leading contribution to the left-right asymmetry in polarized Møller scattering from the superpartners in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), using an effective lagrangian approach. We determine the maximum asymmetry that can result from the superpartners in the MSSM under different scenarios, and discuss the feasibility of a high-precision, low-energy ($\sqrt{s}\approx 200~{\rm MeV}$) Møller scattering experiment to see supersymmetry.
We considered the new signature of a charged Higgs boson, $pp\rightarrow H^{\pm}h\rightarrow W^{\pm}hh$, which is almost background free as the promising to study of supersymmetry at the LHC with both $\sqrt{s} = 13$ TeV and $\sqrt{s}= 14$ TeV. In the framework of MSSM model we used the latest theoretical parameter space, which is consistent with the experimental constraints from Large Hadron Collider and direct or indirect searches. In the surviving regions with the help of Pythia 8.3 and Feynhiggs programs it was found that production cross sections, $σ(pp\rightarrow H^{\pm}h)$, and Branchin…
These notes are an expanded version of a short course of lectures given for graduate students in particle physics at Oxford. The level was intended to be appropriate for students in both experimental and theoretical particle physics. The purpose is to present an elementary and self-contained introduction to SUSY that follows on, relatively straightforwardly, from graduate-level courses in relativistic quantum mechanics and introductory quantum field theory. The notation adopted, at least initially, is one widely used in RQM courses, rather than the `spinor calculus' (dotted and undotted indices…
We study the correlation of quantum effects on the ratios R_b and R_c within the framework of the MSSM. While in the SM the quantity R_b is in discrepancy with experiment at the 2 σlevel from below, and R_c differs from the experimental result at the 1.5 σlevel from above, the theoretical prediction for both observables could simultaneously improve in the MSSM, provided that \tanβis large enough (\tanβ\sim m_t/m_b) and there exists a light supersymmetric pseudoscalar Higgs, and also a light stop and a light chargino, all of them in the 50 GeV ballpark. In view of the masses predicted for these…
