Quantum discord, as introduced by Olliver and Zurek [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{88}, 017901 (2001)], is a measure of the discrepancy between quantum versions of two classically equivalent expressions for mutual information and is found to be useful in quantification and application of quantum correlations in mixed states. It is viewed as a key resource present in certain quantum communication tasks and quantum computational models without containing much entanglement. An early step toward the quantification of quantum discord in a quantum state was by Dakic, Vedral, and Brukner [Phys. Rev. Lett. 105,190502 (2010)] who introduced a geometric measure of quantum discord and derived an explicit formula for any two-qubit state. Recently, Luo and Fu [Phys. Rev. A \textbf{82}, 034302 (2010)] introduced a generic form of the geometric measure of quantum discord for a bipartite quantum state. We extend these results and find generic forms of the geometric measure of quantum discord and total quantum correlations in a general N-partite quantum state. Further, we obtain computable exact formulas for the geometric measure of quantum discord and total quantum correlations in a N-qubit quantum state. The exact formulas for the $N$-qubit quantum state are experimentally implementable.
We evaluate analytically the quantum discord for a large family of multiqubit states. It is interesting to note that the quantum discord of three-qubits and five-qubits is the same, as is the quantum discord of two-qubits and six-qubits. We discover that the quantum discord of this family states can be concluded into three categories. The level surfaces of the quantum discord in the three categories is shown through images. Furthermore, we investigated the dynamic behavior of quantum discord under decoherence. For the odd partite systems, we prove the frozen phenomenon of quantum discord doesn…
In this paper, a computable multipartite multimode Gaussian quantum correlation measure ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}$ is proposed for any $k$-partite continuous-variable (CV) systems with $k\geq 2$. ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}$ depends only on the covariance matrix of CV states, is invariant under any permutation of subsystems, is a quantification without ancilla problem, nonincreasing under $k$-partite local Gaussian channels (particularly, invariant under $k$-partite local Gaussian unitary operations), vanishes on $k$-partite product states. For a $k$-partite Gaussian state $ρ$, ${\mathcal M}^{(k)}(ρ)=0$ if …
Quantum properties are soon subject to decoherence once the quantum system interacts with the classical environment. In this paper we experimentally test how propagation losses, in a Gaussian channel, affect the bi-partite Gaussian entangled state generated by a sub-threshold type-II optical parametric oscillator (OPO). Experimental results are discussed in terms of different quantum markers, as teleportation fidelity, quantum discord and mutual information, and continuous variables (CV) entanglement criteria. To analyse state properties we have retrieved the composite system covariance matrix…
Quantum discord and quantum uncertainty are two important features of the quantum world. In this work, the relation between entropic uncertainty relation and the shareability of quantum discord is studied. First, by using tripartite quantum-memory-assisted entropic uncertainty relation, an upper bound for the shareability of quantum discord among different partites of a composite system is obtained. It is also shown that, for a specific class of tripartite states, the obtained relation could be expressed as monogamy of quantum discord. Moreover, it is illustrated that the relation could be gen…
We investigate the distribution property of one way discord in multipartite system by introducing the concept of polygamy deficit for one way discord. The difference between one way discord and quantum discord is analogue to the difference between entanglement of assistance and entanglement of formation. For tripartite pure states, two kinds of polygamy deficits are presented with the equivalent expressions and physical interpretations regardless of measurement. For four-partite pure states, we provide a condition which makes one way discord polygamy being satisfied. Those results can be appli…
In an initially uncorrelated mixed separable bi-partite system, quantum correlations can emerge under the action of a local measurement or local noise [A. Streltsov, H. Kampermann, and D. Bruß, Phys. Rev. Lett. 107, 170502 (2011)]. We analyze this counter-intuitive phenomenon using quantum discord as a quantifier. We then relate changes in quantum discord to system-environment correlations between the system in a mixed state and some purifying environmental mode using the Koashi-Winter inequality. On this basis, we suggest an interpretation of discord as a byproduct of transferring entanglemen…
The distribution of quantum correlations in multipartite systems play a significant role in several aspects of the quantum information theory. While it is well known that these quantum correlations can not be freely distributed, the way that it is shared in multipartite system is an open problem even for small set of qubits. Based on new monogamylike relations between entanglement and discord for $n$-partite systems, we show how these correlations are distributed in general, determining distinct equalities and inequalities to the quantum discord and the entanglement of formation for arbitrary …
We provide experimental evidence of quantum features in bi-partite states classified as entirely classical according to a conventional criterion based on the Glauber P-function but possessing non-zero Gaussian quantum discord. Their quantum nature is experimentally revealed by acting locally on one part of the discordant state. Adding an environmental system purifying the state, we unveil the flow of quantum correlations within a global pure system using the Koashi-Winter inequality. We experimentally verify and investigate the counterintuitive effect of discord increase under the action of lo…
We consider a multipartite system consisting of two noninteracting qubits each embedded in a single-mode leaky cavity, in turn connected to an external bosonic reservoir. Initially, we take the two qubits in an entangled state while the cavities and the reservoirs have zero photons. We investigate, in this six-partite quantum system, the transfer of quantum discord from the qubits to the cavities and reservoirs. We show that this transfer occurs also when the cavities are not entangled. Moreover, we discuss how quantum discord can be extracted from the cavities and transferred to distant syste…
We explore two different geometric quantum discords defined respectively via the trace norm (GQD-1) and Hilbert-Schmidt norm (GQD-2) in multipartite systems. A rigorous hierarchy relation is revealed for the two GQDs in a class of symmetric two-qubit $X$-shape states. For multiqubit pure states, it is found that both GQDs are related to the entanglement concurrence, with the hierarchy relation being saturated. Furthermore, we look into a four-partite dynamical system consisting of two cavities interacting with independent reservoirs. It is found that the GQD-2 can exhibit various sudden change…
Here, we compare the behavior of the quantum discord, 1-norm geometric quantum discord and concurrence under the effect of decoherence for XXX Heisenberg spin chain. Their dependencies on temperature and coupling constant are presented in detail. By a comparison between them we can see that quantum discord and 1-norm geometric quantum discord are more robust than the concurrence against decoherence in the sense that quantum discord and 1-norm geometric quantum discord takes a nonzero value and decrease asymptotically, while the concurrence is zero in a large range of parameters including tempe…
Xu [Jianwei Xu, J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 45 405304 (2012)] generalized geometric quantum discord [B.Dakic, V. Vedral, and C . Brukner, Phys. Rev. Lett. 105 190502 (2010)] to multipartite states and proposed the geometric global quantum discord. In this paper, we first derive the analytical formulas of the geometric global quantum discord and geometric quantum discord for two-qubit X states, respectively. Second, we give five concrete examples to demonstrate the use of our formulas. Finally, we prove that the geometric quantum discord is a tight lower bound of the geometric global quantum disco…
We investigate the level surfaces of geometric measure of quantum discord, and provide a pictorial interpretation of geometric discord for Bell-diagonal states. We have observed its nonanalytic behavior under decoherence employing this approach and interestingly found if we expect geometric discord to remain constant under phase-flip channel for a finite period, the initial state must be separable. Besides, this geometric understanding can be applied to verify the hierarchical relationships between geometric discord and the original one. The present work makes us conjecture that the incompatib…
Radhakrishnan \emph{et.al} [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{124}, 110401 (2020)] proposed quantum discord to multipartite systems and derived explicit formulae for any states. These results are significant in capturing quantum correlations for multi-qubit systems. In this paper, we evaluate the geometric measure of multipartite quantum discord and obtain results for a large family of multi-qubit states. %Intriguingly, our results demonstrate that for the family of states, multipartite geometric discord decreases exponentially as the number of parties increases while multipartite quantum discord not,t…
We studied the geometric quantum discord of a quantum system consisted of a Jaynes- Cummings atom, a cavity and an isolated atom. The analytical expressions of the geometric quantum discord for two atoms, every atom with cavity and the total system were obtained. We showed that the geometric quantum discord is not always zero when entanglement fall in death for two-atom subsystem; the geometric measurement of quantum discord of the total system developed periodically with a single frequency if the initial state of two atoms was not entangled, otherwise, it oscillates with two or four frequenci…
In the paper we study the notion of trace norm geometric discord in the system of two qutrits. We compute this quantity for some class of states including qutrit Bell states, Werner states and bound entangled states.
The original definition of quantum discord of bipartite states was defined over one-sided projective measurements, it describes quantum correlation more extensively than entanglement. Dakic, Vedral, and Brukner [Phys. Rev. Lett. 105 (2010) 190502] introduced a geometric measure for this quantum discord, and Luo, Fu [Phys. Rev. A 82 (2010) 034302] simplified the variation expression of it. In this paper we introduce a geometric measure for the quantum discord over two-sided projective measurements. A simplified expression and a lower bound of this geometric measure are derived and explicit expr…
Geometric quantum discord, proposed by Dakic, Vedral, and Brukner [Phys. Rev. Lett. 105 (2010) 190502], is an important measure for bipartite correlations. In this paper, we generalize it to multipartite states, we call the generalized version geometric global quantum discord (GGQD). We characterize GGQD in different ways, and provide some special states which allow analytical GGQD.
Among various definitions of quantum correlations, quantum discord has attracted considerable attention. To find analytical expression of quantum discord is an intractable task. Exact results are known only for very special states, namely, two-qubit X-shaped states. We present in this paper a geometric viewpoint, from which two-qubit quantum discord can be described clearly. The known results about X state discord are restated in the directly perceivable geometric language. As a consequence, the dynamics of classical correlations and quantum discord for an X state in the presence of decoherenc…
We check the decoherence dynamics of Measurement-induced Nonlocality(in short, MIN) and compare it with geometric discord for two qubit systems. There are quantum states, on which the action of dephasing channel cannot destroy MIN in finite or infinite time. We check the additive dynamics of MIN on a qubit state under two independent noise. Geometric discord also follows such additive dynamics like quantum discord. We have further compared non-Markovian evolution of MIN and geometric discord under dephasing and amplitude damping noise for pure state and it shows distinct differences between th…
We establish relations between geometric quantum discord and entanglement quantifiers obtained by means of optimal witness operators. In particular, we prove a relation between negativity and geometric discord in the Hilbert-Schmidt norm, which is slightly different from a previous conjectured one [Phys. Rev. A 84, 052110 (2011)].We also show that, redefining the geometric discord with the trace norm, better bounds can be obtained. We illustrate our results numerically.
We present a dynamic approach to study the quantum discord and classical correlation. By local filtering operation, the evaluation of quantum discord is closely related to quantum channel and channel capacity. As a consequence, the traditional optimization over horizontal-or-vertical von Neumann measurements is replaced by that over horizontal-and-vertical three-element POVM measurement, from which more rigorous results of quantum discord are obtained.
We discuss some properties of the quantum discord based on the geometric distance advanced by Dakic, Vedral, and Brukner [Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 105}, 190502 (2010)], with emphasis on Werner- and MEM-states. We ascertain just how good the measure is in representing quantum discord. We explore the dependence of quantum discord on the degree of mixedness of the bipartite states, and also its connection with non-locality as measured by the maximum violation of a Bell inequality within the CHSH scenario.
We consider the geometric global quantum discord (GGQD) of two-qubit systems. By analyzing the symmetry of geometric global quantum discord we give an approach for deriving analytical formulae of the extremum problem which lies at the core of computing the GGQD for arbitrary two-qubit states. Furthermore, formulae of GGQD of arbitrary two-qubit states and some concrete examples are presented.
Geometric description of quantum correlations are favored for their distinct physical significance. Geometric discord based on the trace distance and the Bures distance are shown to be well-defined quantum correlation measures. Here, we examine their particular dynamical behaviors under independent as well as common structured reservoirs, and reveal their robustness against decoherence. We showed that the two well-defined geometric discord may be preserved well, or even be improved and generated by the noisy process of the common reservoir. Moreover, we also provided a strategy for long-time p…
A new measure based on the tripartite information diagram is proposed for identifying quantum discord in tripartite systems. The proposed measure generalizes the mutual information underlying discord from bipartite to tripartite systems, and utilizes both one-particle and two-particle projective measurements to reveal the characteristics of the tripartite quantum discord. The feasibility of the proposed measure is demonstrated by evaluating the tripartite quantum discord for systems with states close to Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger, W, and biseparable states. In addition, the connections betwee…
In a recent article [Phys. Rev. A 86, 024302 (2012)], the authors have derived some hierarchy relations between geometric discord and entanglement (measured by negativity and its square). We point out that these results are incorrect and give analytic counterexamples. We also discuss briefly the reason for such violations.
We give the explicit expressions of the pairwise quantum correlations present in superpositions of multipartite coherent states. A special attention is devoted to the evaluation of the geometric quantum discord. The dynamics of quantum correlations under a dephasing channel is analyzed. A comparison of geometric measure of quantum discord with that of concurrence shows that quantum discord in multipartite coherent states is more resilient to dissipative environments than is quantum entanglement. To illustrate our results, we consider some special superpositions of Weyl-Heisenberg, SU(2) and SU…
In this paper we formulate a kind of new geometric measure of quantum correlations. This new measure is in terms of the quantum Tsallis relative entropy and can be viewed as a one-parameter extension quantum discordlike measure that satisfies all requirements of a good measure of quantum correlations. It is of an elegant analytic expression and contains several existing good quantum correlation measures as special cases.
It has recently been pointed out that the geometric quantum discord, as defined by the Hilbert-Schmidt norm (2-norm), is not a good measure of quantum correlations, since it may increase under local reversible operations on the unmeasured subsystem. Here, we revisit the geometric discord by considering general Schatten p-norms, explicitly showing that the 1-norm is the only p-norm able to define a consistent quantum correlation measure. In addition, by restricting the optimization to the tetrahedron of two-qubit Bell-diagonal states, we provide an analytical expression for the 1-norm geometric…
Two-qubit X-state is a large class of quantum states which plays an important role in the quantification and dynamical study of quantum correlations. However, the corresponding quantification of quantum discord is still missing for bona fide discord measures, like original quantum discord, Bures distance of discord, and relative entropy of discord. In this paper, we consider the calculation of Bures distance of discord, which is a kind of correlation satisfying all criteria of a discord measure, for two-qubit X-states. Firstly, we derive an explicit expression for Bures distance of discord for…
Geometric quantum discord is a well-defined measure of quantum correlation if Schatten 1-norm (trace norm) is adopted as a distance measure. Here, we analytically investigate the dynamical behavior of the 1-norm geometric quantum discord under the effect of decoherence. By starting from arbitrary Bell-diagonal mixed states under Markovian local noise, we provide the decays of the quantum correlation as a function of the decoherence parameters. In particular, we show that the 1-norm geometric discord exhibits the possibility of double sudden changes and freezing behavior during its evolution. F…
In this paper, the dynamical behaviour of the geometric discord of a system consisting of a two-level atom interacting with a quantised radiation field described by the Jaynes-Cummings model has been studied. The evolution of the system has been considered in the pure dephasing regime when the field is initially in a general pure state and the atom is initially in a mixed state. Dynamics of the geometric discord, as a measure of non-classical correlation, has been compared with the dynamics of negativity, as a measure of quantum entanglement. In particular, the influence of different parameter…
In this paper we study the possibility of modifying the dynamics of both quantum correlations, such as entanglement and discord, and classical correlations of an open bi-partite system by means of the quantum Zeno effect. We consider two qubits coupled to a common boson reservoir at zero temperature. This model describes, for example, two atoms interacting with a quantized mode of a lossy cavity. We show that, when the frequencies of the two atoms are symmetrically detuned from that of the cavity mode, oscillations between Zeno and anti-Zeno regimes occur. We also calculate analytically the ti…
Motivated by recent numerous works on the interplay among various measures of quantum correlations, we aim to investigate the relationship between the violation of Clauser-Horne-Shimony-Holt (CHSH) Bell inequality and geometric measure of quantum discord for two-qubit systems. Exact lower and upper bounds of Bell violation versus geometric discord are obtained for a specific and significant class of states, Bell diagonal states, and the respective states which suffice those bounds are also characterized. The dynamical behavior of these two quantifiers is carefully analyzed in the presence of d…
We study the dynamics of geometric measure of quantum discord (GMQD) under the influences of two local phase damping noises. Consider the two qubits initially in arbitrary X-states, we find the necessary and sufficient conditions for which GMQD is unaffected for a finite period. It is further shown that such results also hold for the non-Markovian dephasing process.
We describe an efficient DQC1-algorithm to quantify the amount of Geometric Quantum Discord present in the output state of a DQC1 computation. DQC1 is a model of computation that utilizes separable states to solve a problem with no known efficient classical algorithm and is known to contain quantum correlations as measured by the discord. For the general case of a (1+n)-qubit DQC1-state we provide an analytical expression for the Geometric Quantum Discord and find that its typical (and maximum) value decreases exponentially with n. This is in contrast to the standard Quantum Discord whose valu…
In this article, we investigate the geometric discord of quantum states of fermionic system in accelerated frame. It is shown by the method beyond the single-mode approximation, depending on the region considered, that the geometric discord for the entangled quantum states of fermionic system in accelerated frame can vanish or be retained at the infinite acceleration limit: it does not disappear when the quantum state of the particle(Alice)-particle(Bob in region I) case or the particle(Alice)-antiparticle(Bob in region II) is considered and it disappears when the particle(Alice)-antiparticle(…
The degree to which a pure quantum state is entangled can be characterized by the distance or angle to the nearest unentangled state. This geometric measure of entanglement is explored for bi-partite and multi-partite pure and mixed states. It is determined analytically for arbitrary two-qubit mixed states, generalized Werner, and isotropic states, and is also applied to certain multi-partite mixed states, including two distinct multi-partite bound entangled states. Moreover, the ground-state entanglement of the XY model in a transverse field is calculated and shown to exhibit singular behavio…
It has been proven that the quantum discord is a more general tool to capture non-classical correlation than quantum entanglement, because there is a non-zero quantum discord in several mixed states that could not be measured by quantum entanglement. But because of optimization part in formulating quantum discord, it is very difficult and nearly impossible to find quantum discord for some quantum states. So people proposed geometric quantum discord, which in a bipartite state could be describe as the distance of the states from the closest zero-discord state. To understand better geometric qua…
In this article, we define a faithful quantifiers of bipartite quantum correlation, namely geometric version of quantum discord using affinity based metric. It is shown that the newly-minted measure resolves the local ancilla problem of Hilbert-Schmidt measures. Exploiting the notion of affinity-based discord, we derive Margolus-Levitin (ML) and Mandelstamm-Tamm (MT) bounds for the quantum speed limit time for the creation and decay of quantum correlation. The dynamical study suggests that the affinity measure is a better resource compared to entanglement. Finally, we study the role of quantum…
The concept of quantum discord aims at unveiling quantum correlations that go beyond those described by entanglement. Its original formulation [J. Phys. A 34, 6899 (2001); Phys. Rev. Lett 88, 017901 (2002)] is difficult to compute even for the simplest case of two-qubits systems. Alternative formulations have been developed to address this drawback, such as the geometric measure of quantum discord [Phys. Rev. A 87, 062303 (2013)] and the local quantum uncertainty [Phys. Rev. Lett 110, 240402 (2013)] that can be evaluated in closed form for some quantum systems, such as two-qubit systems. We sh…
We argue that the geometric discord introduced in [B. Dakic, V. Vedral, and C. Brukner, Phys. Rev. Lett. 105, 190502 (2010)] is not a good measure for the quantumness of correlations, as it can increase even under trivial local reversible operations of the party whose classicality/non-classicality is not tested. On the other hand it is known that the standard, mutual-information based discord does not suffer this problem; a simplified proof of such a fact is given.
We show that the mistakes pointed out by Rana and Parashar [Phys. Rev. A 87, 016301 (2013)] do not invalidate the main conclusion of our work [Phys. Rev. A 86, 024302 (2012)]. We show that the errors affected only a particular application of our general results, and present the correction.
We investigate sudden change (SC) behaviors of the distance-based measures of geometric quantum discords (GQDs) for two non-interacting qubits subject to the two-sided and the one-sided thermal reservoirs. We found that the GQDs defined by different distances exhibit different SCs, and thus the SCs are the combined result of the chosen discord measure and the property of a state. We also found that the thermal reservoir may generate states having different orderings related to different GQDs. These inherent differences of the GQDs reveal that they are incompatible in characterizing quantum cor…
Dakic, Vedral and Brukner [Physical Review Letters \tf{105},190502 (2010)] gave a geometric measure of quantum discord in a bipartite quantum state as the distance of the state from the closest classical quantum (or zero discord) state and derived an explicit formula for a two qubit state. Further, S.Luo and S.Fu [Physical Review A \tf{82}, 034302 (2010)] obtained a generic form of this geometric measure for a general bipartite state and established a lower bound. In this brief report we obtain a rigorous lower bound to the geometric measure of quantum discord in a general bipartite state whic…
We propose a scheme to directly measure the exact value of geometric quantum discord of an arbitrary two-qubit state. We only need to perform the projective measurement in the all anti-symmetric subspace and our scheme is parametrically efficient in contrast to the widely adopted quantum state tomography scheme in the sense of less parameter estimations and projectors. Moreover, the present scheme can be easily realized with the current experimental techniques.
We use singular value decomposition to derive a tight lower bound for geometric discord of arbitrary bipartite states. In a single shot this also leads to an upper bound of measurement-induced non locality which in turn yields that for Werner and isotropic states the two measures coincide. We also emphasize that our lower bound is saturated for all $2\otimes n$ states. Using this we show that both the generalized Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger and $W$ states of $N$ qubits satisfy monogamy of geometric discord. Indeed, the same holds for all $N$-qubit pure states which are equivalent to $W$ states…
As an important resource to realize quantum information, quantum correlation displays different behaviors, freezing phenomenon and non-localization, which are dissimilar to the entanglement and classical correlation, respectively. In our setup, the ordering of quantum correlation is represented for different quantization methods by considering an open quantum system scenario. The machine learning method (neural network method) is then adopted to train for the construction of a bridge between the Rènyi discord ($α=2$) and the geometric discord (Bures distance) for $X$ form states. Our results c…
We define a new measure of quantum correlations in bipartite quantum systems given by the Bures distance of the system state to the set of classical states with respect to one subsystem, that is, to the states with zero quantum discord. Our measure is a geometrical version of the quantum discord. As the latter it quantifies the degree of non-classicality in the system. For pure states it is identical to the geometric measure of entanglement. We show that for mixed states it coincides with the optimal success probability of an ambiguous quantum state discrimination task. Moreover, the closest z…
We study the measurement-induced geometric discord based on the trace norm and generalize some properties known for qutrits to qudits. Previous preliminary results for bipartite qutrit systems (i.e. d=3 systems) are here strictly proved for arbitrary d. Present study supports observations, coming also from other approaches, that systems with $d \geq 3$ show similar behaviour when quantum correlations are concerned, but there is pronounced difference between d=2 and d=3. Qubit systems are exceptionally simple. Underlying geometry of state spaces and related Lie groups are responsible for that.
We studied the trance distance, the Hellinger distance, and the Bures distance geometric quantum discords (GQDs) for a two-spin Heisenberg {\it XX} chain with the Dzyaloshinsky-Moriya (DM) interaction and the external magnetic fields. We found that considerable enhancement of the GQDs can be achieved by introducing the DM interaction, and their maxima were obtained in the limiting case $D\rightarrow \infty$. The external magnetic fields and the increase of the temperature can also enhance the GQDs to some extent for certain special cases.
We consider the quantum correlations for a S=1/2 Ising- Heisenberg model of a symmetrical diamond chain. Firstly, we compare concurrence, quantum discord and 1- norm geometric quantum discord of an ideal diamond chain in the absence of magnetic field. The results show no simple ordering relations between these quantum correlations, so that quantum discord may be smaller or larger than the 1-norm geometric quantum discord, which this observation contradict the previous result that provided by F. M. Paula [1]. Symmetrical behavior of quantum correlation versus ferromagnetic and anti- ferromagnet…
The minimal Bures distance of a quantum state of a bipartite system AB to the set of classical states for subsystem A defines a geometric measure of quantum discord. When A is a qubit, we show that this geometric quantum discord is given in terms of the eigenvalues of a (2 n_B) x (2 n_B) hermitian matrix, n_B being the Hilbert space dimension of the other subsystem B. As a first application, we calculate the geometric discord for the output state of the DQC1 algorithm. We find that it takes its highest value when the unitary matrix from which the algorithm computes the trace has its eigenvalue…
The dynamics of a geometric measure of the quantum discord (GMQD) under decoherence is investigated. We show that the GMQD of a two-qubit state can be alternatively obtained through the singular values of a $3\times4$ matrix whose elements are the expectation values of Pauli matrices of the two qubits. By using Heisenberg picture, the analytic results of the GMQD is obtained for three typical kinds of the quantum decoherence channels. We compare the dynamics of the GMQD with that of the quantum discord and of entanglement. We show that a sudden change in the decay rate of the GMQD does not alw…
In the present work, we consider a scenario where an arbitrary two-qubit pure state is applied to generate a randomly distributed key via the generalized EPR protocol. Using the twirling procedure to convert the pure state into a Werner state, the error rate of the key can be reduced by a factor of $2/3$. This effect indicates that entanglement is not the sufficient resource of the generalized EPR protocol since it is not increased in the twirling procedure. Instead of entanglement, the geometric discord is suggested to be the general quantum resource for this task.
