We discuss if the Tevatron ttbar asymmetry can be explained by T-channel exchange of a W' gauge boson coupling to down and top quarks. In a spontaneously broken gauge theory, such a W' is necessarily accompanied by a Z' at a similar mass scale. Null results from Tevatron searches for dijet and dilepton resonances imply large mass splitting between the $W'$ and $Z'$. We argue that such splitting can only be accomplished if the gauge symmetry is broken by a scalar in a large dimension representation of the gauge group, for which no perturbative description exists.
The sensitivity of top quark pair production at the Large Hadron Collider to the presence and nature of an underlying Z' boson is studied, accounting for six-fermion decay with full tree-level Standard Model ttbar interference and all intermediate particles allowed off-shell. Focus is placed on the lepton-plus-jets final state, emulating experimental conditions, including kinematic requirements and top quark pair reconstruction in the presence of missing transverse energy and combinatorial ambiguity in jet-top assignment. Considering a resonance with mass of 4 TeV, and assuming 300 inverse fb …
Effects of neutral $Z^{\prime}$ boson in $B_{s} \to ϕ\ell^{+} \ell^{-}$ decay with polarized $ϕ$ and the unpolarized and polarized $CP$ violation asymmetry
The Forward-Backward Asymmetry (AFB) in $Z^\prime$ physics is commonly only perceived as the observable which possibly allows one to interpret a $Z^\prime$ signal by distinguishing different models of such (heavy) spin-1 bosons. In this article, we examine the potential of AFB in setting bounds on or even discovering a $Z^\prime$ at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and show that it might be a powerful tool for this purpose. We analyze two different scenarios: $Z^\prime$s with a narrow and wide width, respectively. We find that in both cases AFB can complement the cross section in accessing $Z^\…
We calculate the branching ratios and CP-violating asymmetries for $B^0 \to π^0 η^{(\prime)}$ and $B^+\to π^+ η^{(\prime)}$ decays in the perturbative QCD (pQCD) factorization approach here. We not only calculate the usual factorizable contributions, but also evaluate the non-factorizable and annihilation type contributions. Besides the current-current operators, the contributions from the QCD and electroweak penguin operators are also taken into account. The pQCD results for the CP-averaged branching ratios are $Br(B^+ \to π^+ η) \approx 4.1 \times 10^{-6}$, $Br(B^+ \to π^+ η^\prime) \approx …
The photoproduction reaction of $γp \to η^\prime p$ is investigated based on an effective Lagrangian approach in the tree-level approximation, with the purpose being to understand the reaction mechanisms and to extract the resonance contents and the associated resonance parameters in this reaction. Apart from the $t$-channel $ρ$ and $ω$ exchanges, $s$- and $u$-channel nucleon exchanges, and generalized contact term, the exchanges of a minimum number of nucleon resonances in the $s$ channel are taken into account in constructing the reaction amplitudes to describe the experimental data. It is f…
We define a Focus Point (FP) Asymmetry, $A_{\rm FP}$, obtained by integrating the normalised transverse momentum distribution of either lepton produced in the Drell-Yan (DY) process below and above a point where a variety of popular $Z^\prime$ models all have the same magnitude. For a given $Z^\prime$ mass the position of this FP is predictable, depending only on the collider energy and on the low transverse momentum cut chosen in the normalisation procedure. The resulting $A_{\rm FP}$ is very sensitive to the $Z^\prime$ width, and can be used to constrain this parameter in experimental fits.
$Z^\prime$ boson as a new gauge boson has been proposed in many new physics models. The interactions of $Z^\prime$ coupling to fermions are detailed studied at the large hadron collider. A $Z^\prime$ with the mass of a few TeV has been excluded in some special models. The future lepton colliders will focus on the studies of Higgs physics which provide the advantage to investigate the interactions of Higgs boson with the new gauge bosons. We investigate the $Z^\prime ZH$ interaction via the process of $e^+e^- \to Z^\prime/Z \to ZH \to l^+l^- b \bar{b}$. The angular distribution of the final lep…
We investigate the phenomenology of singlet scalar dark matter in a simple $\rm U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge extension of standard model, made anomaly free with four exotic fermions. The enriched scalar sector and the new gauge boson $Z^\prime$, associated with $\rm U(1)$ gauge extension, connect the dark sector to the visible sector. We compute relic density, consistent with Planck limit and $Z^\prime$ mediated dark matter-nucleon cross section, compatible with PandaX bound. The mass of $Z^\prime$ and the corresponding gauge coupling are constrained from LEP-II and LHC dilepton searches. We also briefly…
In this work, we explain three beyond standard model (BSM) phenomena, namely neutrino masses, the baryon asymmetry of the Universe and Dark Matter, within a single model and in each explanation the right handed (RH) neutrinos play the prime role. Indeed by just introducing two RH neutrinos we can generate the neutrino masses by the Type-I seesaw mechanism. The baryon asymmetry of the Universe can arise from thermal leptogenesis from the decay of lightest RH neutrino before the decoupling of the electroweak sphaleron transitions, which redistribute the $ B-L $ number into a baryon number. At th…
For the purpose of cross-fertilising currently separate experimental approaches, we connect results of LHC analyses attempting to access the properties of additional $W^\prime$ and $Z^\prime$ bosons from Drell-Yan processes. Under theoretical assumptions linking the two new gauge bosons, we take into account that such possible states of nature are wide enough (in relation to the leptonic mass resolution) for the corresponding signals be significantly affected by interference effects with the background from the Standard Model. The shape of the differential cross section may then no longer be a…
