Based on the strong coupling expansion, we reinvestigate two dimensional O(N) sigma model by the use of Pade-Borel approximants. The conventional strong coupling expansion of the mass square M in momentum space in beta=1/g^2 is inverted to give beta expanded in 1/M. Borel transform of beta with respect to M is carried out and the result is improved as the rational function by Pade method. We find the behavior of Pade-Borel transformed bare coupling at 18th order is consistent for N>=3 with that of continuum scaling to the four-loop perturbation theory. We estimate non-perturbative mass gap at N>=3 and find the agreement with the exact result by Hasenfratz et.al.
The renormalization group approach in three dimensions is used to estimate the universal critical value g_6^* of the dimensionless sextic effective coupling constant for the Ising model. The four-loop RG expansion for g_6 is calculated and resummed by means of the Pade-Borel and Pade-Borel-Leroy procedures resulting in g_6^* = 1.596, while the most accurate estimate for g_6^* is argued to be equal to 1.61.
Based on the strong coupling expansion, we reinvestigate the scaling behavior of the susceptibility chi of two-dimensional O(N) sigma model on the square lattice by the use of Pade-Borel approximants. To exploit the Borel transform, we express the bare coupling g in series expansion in chi. At large N, Pade-Borel approximants exhibit the scaling behavior at the four-loop level. Then, the estimation of the non-perturbative constant associated with the susceptibility is performed for N>=3 and the results are compared with the available theoretical results and Monte Carlo data.
The RG functions of the 2D $n$-vector $ϕ^4$ model are calculated in the five-loop approximation. Perturbative series for the $β$ function and critical exponents are resummed by the Pade-Borel and Pade-Borel-Leroy techniques, resummation procedures are optimized and an accuracy of the numerical results is estimated. In the Ising case $n = 1$ as well as in the others ($n = 0$, $n = -1$, $n = 2, 3,...32$) an account for the five-loop term is found to shift the Wilson fixed point location only briefly, leaving it outside the segment formed by the results of the corresponding lattice calculations; …
We show that for two non-trivial lambda phi ^4 problems (the anharmonic oscillator and the Landau-Ginzburg hierarchical model), improved perturbative series can be obtained by cutting off the large field contributions. The modified series converge to values exponentially close to the exact ones. For lambda larger than some critical value, the method outperforms Pade's approximants and Borel summations. The method can also be used for series which are not Borel summable such as the double-well potential series. We show that semi-classical methods can be used to calculate the modified Feynman ru…
The properties of a generalized version of the Borel Transform in infrared unstable theories with dynamical mass generation are studied. The reconstruction of the nonperturbative structure is unambiguous in this version. Various methods for extracting the singularity structure of the Borel Transform for lattice formulations of such theories are explored, and illustrated explicitly with the O(N) sigma model. The status of the first infrared renormalon in QCD is discussed. The feasibility of a proposed technique for analytically continuing from the left hand Borel plane (where nonperturbative in…
For lambda phi^4 problems, convergent perturbative series can be obtained by cutting off the large field configurations. The modified series converge to values exponentially close to the exact ones. For lambda larger than some critical value, the method outperforms Pade approximants and Borel summations. We discuss some aspects of the semi-classical methods used to calculate the modified Feynman rules and estimate the error associated with the procedure. We provide a simple numerical example where the procedure works despite the fact that the Borel sum has singularities on the positive real ax…
The critical behavior of two-dimensional $n$-vector $λϕ^4$ field model is studied within the framework of pseudo-$ε$ expansion approach. Pseudo-$ε$ expansions for Wilson fixed point location $g^*$ and critical exponents originating from five-loop 2D renormalization group series are derived. Numerical estimates obtained within Padé and Padé-Borel resummation procedures as well as by direct summation are presented for $n = 1$, $n = 0$ and $n = -1$, i. e. for the models which are exactly solvable. The pseudo-$ε$ expansions for $g^*$, critical exponents $γ$ and $ν$ have small lower-order coefficie…
Higher-order vertices at zero external momenta for the scalar field theory describing the critical behaviour of the Ising model are studied within the field-theoretical renormalization group (RG) approach in three dimensions. Dimensionless six-point g_6 and eight-point g_8 effective coupling constants are calculated in the three-loop approximation. Their numerical values, universal at criticality, are estimated by means of the Pade and Pade-Borel summation of the RG expansions found and by putting the renormalized quartic coupling constant equal to its universal fixed-point value known from si…
Critical exponents for the 3D O(n)-symmetric model with n > 3 are estimated on the base of six-loop renormalization-group (RG) expansions. A simple Pade-Borel technique is used for the resummation of the RG series and the Pade approximants [L/1] are shown to give rather good numerical results for all calculated quantities. For large n, the fixed point location g_c and the critical exponents are also determined directly from six-loop expansions without addressing the resummation procedure. An analysis of the numbers obtained shows that resummation becomes unnecessary when n exceeds 28 provided …
The ratios $R_{2k}$ of renormalized coupling constants $g_{2k}$ that enter the effective potential and small-field equation of state acquire the universal values at criticality. They are calculated for the three-dimensional scalar $λϕ^4$ field theory (3D Ising model) within the pseudo-$ε$ expansion approach. Pseudo-$ε$ expansions for the critical values of $g_6$, $g_8$, $g_{10}$, $R_6 = g_6/g_4^2$, $R_8 = g_8/g_4^3$ and $R_{10} = g_{10}/g_4^4$ originating from the five-loop renormalization group (RG) series are derived. Pseudo-$ε$ expansions for the sextic coupling have rapidly diminishing coe…
We discuss a new approach of scalar field theory where the small field contributions are treated perturbatively and the large field configurations (which are responsible for the asymptotic behavior of the perturbative series) are neglected. In two Borel summable lambda phi ^4 problems improved perturbative series can be obtained by this procedure. The modified series converge towards values exponentially close to the exact ones. For lambda larger than some critical value, the method outperforms Pade approximants and Borel summations. The method can also be used for series which are not Borel s…
Starting from the five-loop renormalization-group expansions for the two-dimensional Euclidean scalar ϕ^4 field theory (field-theoretical version of two-dimensional Ising model), pseudo-εexpansions for the Wilson fixed point coordinate g*, critical exponents, and the sextic effective coupling constant g_6 are obtained. Pseudo-εexpansions for g*, inverse susceptibility exponent γ, and g_6 are found to possess a remarkable property - higher-order terms in these expansions turn out to be so small that accurate enough numerical estimates can be obtained using simple Pade approximants, i. e. withou…
The field-theoretical renormalization group approach is used to estimate the universal critical value g_6^* of renormalized sextic coupling constant for the two-dimensional Ising model. Four-loop perturbative expansion for g_6 is calculated and resummed by means of the Pade-Borel-Leroy technique. Under the optimal value of the shift parameter b providing the fastest convergence of the iteration procedure the estimates g_6^* = 1.10, g_6^*/{g_4^*}^2 = 2.94 are obtained which agree quite well with those deduced recently by S.-Y. Zinn, S.-N. Lai, and M. E. Fisher (Phys. Rev. E 54 (1996) 1176) from…
The RG expansions for renormalized coupling constants g_6 and g_8 of the 3D n-vector model are calculated in the 4-loop and 3-loop approximations respectively. Resummation of the RG series for g_6 by the Pade-Borel-Leroy technique results in the estimates for its universal critical values g_6^*(n) which are argued to deviate from the exact numbers by less than 0.3%. The RG expansion for g_8 demonstrates stronger divergence being much less suitable for getting reliable numerical estimates.
The renormalization-group (RG) functions for the three-dimensional n-vector cubic model are calculated in the five-loop approximation. High-precision numerical estimates for the asymptotic critical exponents of the three-dimensional impure Ising systems are extracted from the five-loop RG series by means of the Pade-Borel-Leroy resummation under n = 0. These exponents are found to be: γ= 1.325 +/- 0.003, η= 0.025 +/- 0.01, ν= 0.671 +/- 0.005, α= - 0.0125 +/- 0.008, β= 0.344 +/- 0.006. For the correction-to-scaling exponent, the less accurate estimate ω= 0.32 +/- 0.06 is obtained.
Renormalized coupling constants g_{2k} that enter the critical equation of state and determine nonlinear susceptibilities of the system possess universal values g*_{2k} at the Curie point. They are calculated, along with the ratios R_{2k} = g_{2k}/g_4^{k-1}, for the three-dimensional scalar λϕ^4 field theory within the pseudo-ε-expansion approach. Pseudo-ε-expansions for g*_6, g*_8, R*_6, and R*_8 are derived in the five-loop approximation, numerical estimates are presented for R*_6 and R*_8. The higher-order coefficients of the pseudo-ε-expansions for the sextic coupling are so small that sim…
For the three-dimensional cubic model, the nonlinear susceptibilities of the fourth, sixth, and eighth orders are analyzed and the parameters δ^(i) characterizing their reduced anisotropy are evaluated at the cubic fixed point. In the course of this study, the renormalized sextic coupling constants entering the small-field equation of state are calculated in the four-loop approximation and the universal values of these couplings are estimated by means of the Pade-Borel-Leroy resummation of the series obtained. The anisotropy parameters are found to be: δ^(4) = 0.054 +/- 0.012, δ^(6) = 0.102 +/…
We take advantage of the fact that in lambda phi ^4 problems a large field cutoff phi_max makes perturbative series converge toward values exponentially close to the exact values, to make optimal choices of phi_max. For perturbative series terminated at even order, it is in principle possible to adjust phi_max in order to obtain the exact result. For perturbative series terminated at odd order, the error can only be minimized. It is however possible to introduce a mass shift in order to obtain the exact result. We discuss weak and strong coupling methods to determine the unknown parameters. Th…

Perturbative series for the β-function and critical exponents are resummed by the Pade-Borel-Leroy techniques. An account for the five-loop term shifts the Wilson fixed point location only briefly, leaving it outside the segment formed by the results of the lattice calculations. This is argued to reflect the influence of the non-analytical contribution to the β-function. The evaluation of the critical exponents for n = 1, n = 0 and n = -1 in the five-loop approximation …
The overview is given of the results obtained recently in the course of renormalization-group (RG) study of two-dimensional (2D) models. RG functions of the two-dimensional n-vector λϕ^4 Euclidean field theory are written down up to the five-loop terms and perturbative series are resummed by the Pade-Borel-Leroy techniques. An account for the five-loop term is shown to shift the Wilson fixed point only briefly, leaving it outside the segment formed by the results of the lattice calculations. This is argued to reflect the influence of the non-analytical contribution to the β-function. The evalu…
The critical behavior of the two-dimensional N-vector cubic model is studied within the field-theoretical renormalization-group (RG) approach. The beta-functions and critical exponents are calculated in the five-loop approximation, RG series obtained are resummed using Pade-Borel-Leroy and conformal mapping techniques. It is found that for N = 2 the continuous line of fixed points is well reproduced by the resummed RG series and an account for the five-loop terms makes the lines of zeros of both beta-functions closer to each another. For N > 2 the five-loop contributions are shown to shift the…

A new class of truncation schemes of delta expansion on the lattice is studied. We show that the order of expansion in delta which is introduced as the dilation parameter can be taken large enough and the result gives rise to the Borel transformation with respect to the relevant variable in the lattice models. The explicit simulation of the continuum scaling from the expansion effective at large spacings is investigated in anharmonic oscillators, d=2 non-linear sigma model at large N and Gross-Neveu model with Wilson fermions.
