We re-examine the extraction of ρ(s,t), the ratio of the real part to the imaginary part of the scattering amplitude, and of the spin-flip amplitude, from the existing experimental data in the Coulomb-hadron interference region. We show that it is not possible to find reasonable assumptions about the structure of the scattering amplitude of proton-proton and proton-antiproton elastic scattering at high energy that would lead, in proton-antiproton scattering for 3.8 < p_L <6 GeV/c, to an agreement between data and an analysis based on dispersion relations.
The high energy part of the hadron spin flip amplitude is examined in the framework of the new high energy general structure (HEGS) model of the elastic hadron scattering at high energies. The different forms of the hadron spin flip amplitude are compared in the impact parameters representation. It is shown that the existing experimental data of the proton-proton and proton-antiproton elastic scattering at high energy in the region of the diffraction minimum and at large momentum transfer give support in the presence of the energy-independent part of the hadron spin flip amplitude with the mom…
The impact of the form of the hadron potential at large distances on the behaviour of the hadron spin-flip amplitude at small angles is examined. The $t$-dependence of the spin-flip amplitude of high energy hadron elastic scattering is analyzed under different assumptions on the hadron interaction. It is shown that the long tail of the non-Gaussian form of the hadron potential of the hadron interaction in the impact parameter representation leads to a large value of the slope of the spin-flip amplitude (without the kinematical factor $\sqrt{|t|}$) as compared with the slope of the spin-non-fli…
With relation to the RHIC spin program we research the polarization effects in elastic proton-proton scattering at small momentum transfer and in the diffraction dip region. The calculations take into account the Coulomb-hadron interference effects including the additional Coulomb-hadron phase. In particular we show the impact of the form of the hadron potential at large distances on the behavior of the hadron spin-flip amplitude at small angles. The $t$-dependence of the spin-flip amplitude of high energy hadron elastic scattering is analyzed under different assumptions on the hadron interact…
In the case of elastic high-energy hadron-hadron scattering, the impact of the large-distance contributions on the behaviour of the slopes of the spin-non-flip and of the spin-flip amplitudes is analysed. It is shown that the long tail of the hadronic potential in impact parameter space leads to a value of the slope of the reduced spin-flip amplitude larger than that of the spin-non-flip amplitude. This effect is taken into account in the calculation of the analysing power in proton-nucleus reactions at high energies. It is shown that the preliminary measurement of AN obtained by the E950 Coll…
The analysing power $A_N$ is examined in the range of the Coulomb-hadron interferenceon on the basis of the experimental data from p_L = 6 GeV/c up to 200 GeV/c taking account of a phenomenological analysis at p_L = 6 GeV/c and a dynamic high-energy spin model. The results are compared with the new RHIC data at p_L = 100 GeV/c. The new experimental data obtained at RHIC indicate the small contributions of the hadrons spin-flip amplitude.
Through a direct analysis of the scattering amplitude, we show that the preliminary measurement of the analysing power AN obtained by the E950 Collaboration at different energies are mainly sensitive to the spin-flip part of the amplitude in which the proton scatters with the carbon 12 nucleus as a whole. The imaginary part of this amplitude is negative, and the real part positive. We give predictions for pL = 600 GeV/c, which depend mainly on the size of the real part of the amplitude.
The momentum-transfer dependence of the slopes of the spin-non-flip and spin-flip amplitudes is analysed. It is shown that the long tail of the hadronic potential in impact parameter space leads for hadron-hadron interactions to a larger value of the slope for the reduced spin-flip amplitude than for the spin-non-flip amplitude. It is shown that the preliminary measurement of AN obtained by the E950 Collaboration confirms such a behaviour of the hadron spin-flip amplitude.
In this paper we prove a new optimal bound on the logarithmic slope of the elastic slope when: elastic cross section and differential cross sections in forward and backward directions are known from experimental data. The results on the experimental tests of this new optimal bound are presented in Sect. 3 for the principal meson-nucleon elastic scatterings: pion-nucleon, kaon-nucleon at all available energies. Then we have shown that the saturation of this optimal bound is observed with high accuracy practically at all available energies in meson-nucleon scattering.
Dominant spin-flip effects for the direct and prompt $J/ψ$ polarizations at TEVATRON run II with collision energy 1.96 TeV and rapidity cut $|y^{J/ψ}|<0.6$, have been systematically studied, especially, the spin-flip effect for the transition of $(c\bar{c})_8[^3S_1]$ into $J/ψ$ has been carefully discussed. It is found that the spin-flip effect shall always dilute the $J/ψ$ polarization, and with a suitable choice of the parameters $a_{0,1}$ and $c_{0,1,2}$, the $J/ψ$ polarization puzzle can be solved to a certain degree. At large transverse momentum $p_t$, $α$ for the prompt $J/ψ$ is reduced …
The spin effects at high energies and momenta transferred $|t|>1 GeV^2$ are analysed for quark-photon scattering. The energy independence of the ratio of spin-flip and spin-non-flip amplitudes in the same $α_s$ order of QCD is obtained. It is shown that the contribution of the spin-dependent quark-pomeron vertex to the spin-flip amplitude is intensified by off-mass-shell effects in the quark loop. As a result, the magnitude of this amplitude can reach 20-30\% from a spin-non-flip one. The dependence of the cross-section on the form-factor and $α_s^3$ spin-non-flip contributions are observed.
The impact of large-distance contributions on the behaviour of the slopes of the spin-non-flip and of the spin-flip amplitudes is analysed. It is shown that the long tail of the hadron potential in impact parameter space leads to a larger value of the slope for the spin-flip amplitude (without the kinematic factor sqrt(|t|)) than for the spin-non-flip amplitude. This effect is taken into account in the calculation of the analysing power in proton-nucleus reactions at high energies.
The recent extension of the NJL-jet model to hadronization of transversely polarized quarks allowed the study of the Collins fragmentation function. Both favored and unfavored Collins fragmentation functions were generated, the latter purely by multiple hadron emissions, with 1/2 moments of opposite sign in the region of the light-cone momentum fraction $z$ accessible in current experiments. Hints of such behavior has been seen in the measurements in several experiments. Also, in the transverse momentum dependent (TMD) hadron emission probabilities, modulations of up to fourth order in sine of…
An almost model-independent parametrization for the ratio of the total cross section to the elastic slope, as function of the center of mass energy, is introduced. The analytical result is based on the approximate relation of this quantity with the ratio $R$ of the elastic to total cross section and empirical fits to the $R$ data from proton-proton scattering above 10 GeV, under the conditions of asymptotic unitarity and the black-disk limit. This parametrization may be useful in studies of extensive air showers and the determination of the proton-proton total cross section from proton-air pro…
Coulomb-nuclear interference in the single transverse spin asymmetry A_N is often considered as a possible absolute polarimeter for proton beams. The main uncertainty in this is the unknown hadronic spin-flip amplitude. This uncertainty is analyzed here in the context of the challenge of a 5% polarization measurement at RHIC. Possible constraints on the spin-flip amplitude from measurements of the differential cross-section and the double transverse spin asymmetry A_{NN} are discussed.
Study of polarized proton-proton elastic scattering in the Coulomb-nuclear interference region allows one to measure the forward hadronic single spin-flip amplitude including its phase. However, in a precision experimental data analysis, a phase shift correction $δ_C$ due to the long distance Coulomb interaction should be taken into account. For unpolarized scattering, $δ_C$ is commonly considered as well established. Here, we evaluate the Coulomb phase shifts for the forward elastic proton-proton single spin-flip electromagnetic and hadronic amplitudes. Only a small discrepancy between the sp…
We compute the slope and curvature, at vanishing four-momentum transfer squared, of the leading order hadron vacuum polarization function, using lattice QCD. Calculations are performed with 2+1+1 flavors of staggered fermions directly at the physical values of the quark masses and in volumes of linear extent larger than 6fm. The continuum limit is carried out using six different lattice spacings. All connected and disconnected contributions are calculated, up to and including those of the charm.
The impact-parameter representation of the spin-flip amplitude of hadron elastic scattering is examined in different unitarisation schemes, taking the Born term of the spin-flip amplitude from the Dubna Dynamical Model (DDM). It is shown that the basic properties of the unitarisation schemes are independent of the functional form used for unitarisation but heavily depend on the asymptotic value of the unitarised amplitude.
In this paper the optimal unitarity lower bound on logarithmic slope of the diffraction peak is investigated. It is shown that the unitarity lower bound is just the optimal logarithmic slopes predicted by the principle of least distance in space of states. A systematic tendency towards the saturation of the most forward-peaked limit is observed from all the available experimental data of all principal hadron-hadron (e.g., antiproton-proton, proton-proton, kaon-proton, pion-proton) scatterings practically at all laboratory momenta.
Recent data for the ratio $R(Q)= QF_{2}(Q^{2})/F_{1}(Q^{2})$ shocked the community by disobeying expectations held for 50 years. We examine the status of perturbative QCD predictions for helicity-flip form factors. Contrary to common belief, we find there is no rule of hadron helicity conservation for form factors. Instead the analysis yields an inequality that the leading power of helicity-flip processes may equal or exceed the power of helicity conserving processes. Numerical calculations support the rule, and extend the result to the regime of laboratory momentum transfer $Q^{2}$. Quark orb…
Total cross-sections and logarithmic slopes of the elastic scattering cross-sections for different hadronic processes are calculated in the framework of the model of the stochastic vacuum. The relevant parameters of this model, a correlation length and the gluon condensate, are determined from scattering data, and found to be in very good agreement with values coming from completely different sources of information. A parameter-free relation is given between total cross-sections and slope parameters, which is shown to be remarkably valid up to the highest energies for which data exist.
Methods for limiting the size of hadronic spin-flip in the Coulomb-Nuclear Interference region are critically assessed. This work was presented at the High Energy Polarimetry Workshop in Amsterdam, Sept.9, 1996 and the RHIC Spin Collaboration meeting in Marseille, Sept. 17, 1996.
We employ the Monte-Carlo PYTHIA to calculate the transverse mass spectra of various hadrons and their inverse slopes T* at m_T-m=1.5-2 GeV in p+p reactions at sqrt(s)=200 GeV. Due to (multiple) minijet production T* increases as a function of the hadron mass. Moreover, the T*(m) systematics has a ``discontinuity'' at the charm threshold, i.e. the inverse slope of D-mesons is much higher than that of non-charmed hadrons and even of the heavier Lambda_C baryon. The experimental observation of this characteristic behaviour in Au+Au collisions would indicate the absence of c-quark rescattering. I…
In the framework of the impact picture we compute the analyzing power $A_N$ for $pp$ elastic scattering at high energy and in the very forward direction. We consider the full set of Coulomb amplitudes and show that the interference between the hadronic non-flip amplitude and the single-flip Coulomb amplitude is sufficient to obtain a good agreement with the present experimental data. This leads us to conclude that the single-flip hadronic amplitude is small in this low momentum transfer region and it strongly suggests that this process can be used as an absolute polarimeter at the BNL-RHIC $pp…
Large - distance effects in the hadron wave function for the hadron-Pomeron vertex in the QCD -model are discussed. It is shown that they lead to the spin-flip part of the Pomeron coupling which can reach $10 ÷20 %$ with respect to the non-flip part. The obtained structure of the Pomeron coupling modifies spin asymmetries in high--energy diffractive reactions where the Pomeron structure becomes determinative. We study spin asymmetries in exclusive reactions and in the diffractive $Q \bar Q$ and $J/Ψ$ production. We have found that spin effects in these diffractive processes are sensitive to th…
Taking into account the different forms of the Coulomb-hadron interference phase and the possible spin-flip contribution the new analysis of the experimental data of the proton-antiproton elastic scattering at $3.8 < p_L <6.0 \ $GeV/c and small momentum transfer is carried out. It is shown that the size of the spin-flip amplitude can be determined from the form of the differential cross sections at small $t$, and the deviation of $ρ(s,t)$ obtained from the examined experimental data of the $p\bar{p}$ scattering from the analysis \cite{Kroll}, based on the dispersion relations, is conserved in …
We consider hard electroproduction of mesons at twist-3 level and focus our attention on helicity flip amplitudes corresponding to the production of transversely polarized mesons by transverse photons. We demonstrate that helicity-flip amplitude for the transversely polarized particles are closely related to the contributions of the matrix elements of the tensor gluon operator which can serve as pure gluonic probe of the hadrons. Using standard factorisation approach and Wanzura-Wilczek approximation for the twist-3 matrix elements we find that such amplitudes do not have divergencies from the…
In the analysis of experimental data on $p p$ (or $\bar p p$) elastic differential cross section it is customary to define an average forward slope $b$ in the form $\exp{(-b|t|)}$, where $t$ is the momentum transfer. Taking as working example the results of experiments at Tevatron and SPS, we will show with the help of the impact picture approach, that this simplifying assumption hides interesting information on the complex non-flip scattering amplitude, and that the slope $b$ is not a constant. We investigate the variation of this slope parameter, including a model-independent way to extract …
We study a new mechanism for hadronic helicity flip in high energy hard exclusive reactions. The mechanism proceeds in the limit of perfect chiral symmetry, namely without any need to flip a quark helicity. The fundamental feature of the new mechanism is the breaking of rotational symmetry of the hard collision by a scattering plane in processes involving independent quark scattering. We show that in the impulse approximation there is no evidence for of the helicity violating process as the energy or momentum transfer $Q^2$ is increased over the region 1 GeV^2 < Q^2 < 100 GeV^2. In the asympto…
Large-distance effects, which lead to the spin-flip part of the hadron -pomeron coupling in QCD -models, are discussed. We study spin asymmetries in exclusive reactions and in diffractive $Q \bar Q$ and vector meson production which are sensitive to the spin-dependent part of the pomeron coupling.
The Collins effect describes the modulation of the hadron production by a transversely polarized quark with the sine of the polar angle, $φ$, between the produced hadron's transverse momentum and the quark spin. We employ a quark-jet model to describe multiple hadron emissions by such a quark, taking the Collins effect into account. The resulting hadron distributions exhibit modulation up to fourth order in $\sin(φ)$ when only two hadron emissions are allowed, rising with any further increase in the number of emitted hadrons. These new effects are a direct consequence of the quark-jet mechanis…
Soft diffraction phenomena in elastic nucleon scattering are considered from the viewpoint of the spin dependence of the interaction potential. Spin-dependent pomeron effects are analyzed for elastic $pp$ scattering, spin-dependent differential cross sections and spin correlation parameters are calculated. The spin correlation parameter $A_N$ is examined on the basis of experimental data from $\sqrt{s} = 4.9 \ GeV$ up to $23.4 \ $GeV in the framework of the extended High Energy Generalized Structure (HEGS) model. It is shown that the existing experimental data of proton-proton and proton-antip…
Brand-new high-precision data for single-spin asymmetry $A_N(t)$ in small angle elastic $pp$ scattering from the fixed target experiment HJET at BNL at $E_{lab}=100$ and $255 \mbox{ GeV}$, as well as high energy STAR measurements at $\sqrt{s}=200 \mbox{ GeV}$, for the first time allowed to determine the spin-flip to non-flip ratio $r_5(t)$ in a wide energy range. We introduced an essential modification in the Coulomb-nuclear interference (CNI) mechanism, missed in previous analyses. It can be formulated either as a modification of the Coulomb phase, which is much larger for the spin-flip compa…
The functional dependence of the high-energy observables of total cross section and slope parameter on the sizes of the colliding hadrons predicted by the model of the stochastic vacuum and the corresponding relations used in the geometric model of Povh and Hüfner are confronted with the experimental data. The existence of a universal term in the expression for the slope, due purely to vacuum effects, independent of the energy and of the particular hadronic system, is investigated. Accounting for the two independent correlation functions of the QCD vacuum, we improve the simple and consistent …
We propose techniques to observe the correlation of the spins of top quarks and antiquarks at the Tevatron and the LHC. Observation of the spin correlation would confirm that the top quark decays before its spin flips, and would place a lower bound on the top-quark width and V_tb. The spin correlation may also be a useful tool to study the weak decay amplitude of the top quark.
Dominant contributions of enhanced Pomeron diagrams to elastic hadron-hadron scattering amplitude are re-summed to all orders. The formalism is applied to calculate total hadronic cross sections and elastic scattering slopes. An agreement with earlier results is obtained.
A behavior of imaginary and real parts of the high-energy elastic hadron scattering amplitude is examined in the diffraction region. It is shown that the interference between Coulomb and hadronic scattering at small momentum transfers and especially in the region of diffractive minimum can bring some information about the structure of the hadron spin-non-flip amplitude.
We present a bound on the imaginary part of the single helicity-flip amplitude for spin 1/2-spin 1/2 scattering at small momentum transfer. The variational method of Lagrange multipliers is employed to optimize the single-flip amplitude using the values of the total cross section, the elastic cross section and diffraction slope as equality constraints in addition to the inequality constraints resulting from unitarity. Such bounds provide important information related to the determination of polarization of a proton beam. In the case of elastic proton collisions the analyzing power at small sca…
Sum rules based upon heavy quark effective theory indicate that the Isgur-Wise function $ξ(w)$ has a minimum slope as w approaches 1, which is zero for light degrees of freedom with zero spin and 1/4 for light spin 1/2. Quark-model studies reveal sources for a minimum slope from a variety of relativistic effects. In this paper the origins of the minimum slope in the sum-rule and quark-model approaches are compared by considering hadrons with arbitrary light spin. In both approaches the minimum slope increases with the light spin, but there appears to be no detailed correspondence between the q…
We study weighted azimuthal single spin asymmetries in hadron-hadron scattering using the diagrammatic approach at leading order and assuming factorization. The effects of the intrinsic transverse momenta of the partons are taken into account. We show that the way in which $T$-odd functions, such as the Sivers function, appear in these processes does not merely involve a sign flip when compared with semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering, such as in the case of the Drell-Yan process. Expressions for the weighted scattering cross sections in terms of distribution and fragmentation functions f…
An approximate holographic dual of QCD is constructed and shown to reproduce the empirical linear trajectories of universal slope on which the square masses of radially and orbitally excited hadrons join. Conformal symmetry breaking and other IR effects are described exclusively by deformations of the anti-de Sitter background metric. The predictions for the light hadron spectrum include new relations between ground state masses and trajectory slopes and are in good overall agreement with experimental data.
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) recently started operating at 8 TeV. In this note, we update our earlier LHC forward hadronic scattering predictions \cite{physicsreports,update7, blackdisk}, giving new predictions, including errors, for the $pp$ total and inelastic cross sections, the $ρ$-value, the nuclear slope parameter $B$, $dσ_{\rm el}/dt$, and the large gap survival probability at 8 TeV.
A comprehensive phenomenological analysis of experimental data and some theoretical models is presented here (for mesons) to critically discuss how Regge trajectory parameters depend on flavor. Through analytic continuation of physical trajectories (obtained from resonance data) into the space like region, we derive the suppression factor for heavy flavor production. The case of our D Regge exchange, both for D and $Λ_c$ production, is considered in some detail. Good agreement with data is reached confirming that indeed the slopes of heavier flavors decrease. This result suggests that the conf…
The analysis of the new TOTEM data at 13 TeV in a wide momentum transfer region reveals the unusual phenomenon - the presence in the elastic scattering amplitude of a term with a very large slope that is responsible for the behaviour of hadron scattering at a very small momentum transfer. This term can be connected with hadron interactions at large distances.
We study the class of processes where the dynamics depends essentially on the properties of the hadron wave functions involved in the reactions. In this case the momentum dependence of the form of wave functions imposed by Lorentz invariance and in particular by the Lorentz contraction can be tested in the experiment and may strongly influence the resulting cross sections. One example of such observables is given by the hadron form factors, where it was shown that the large Q behavior is mostly frozen, when the Lorentz contraction of the hadron wave functions is taken into account. Another exa…
The Froissart bound on the total cross section is subjected to test against very high energy data. We have found no clear evidence for its violation. The scaling property of differential cross section in the diffraction region is investigated. It exhibits scaling in the ISR, SPS, Tevatron and LHC energy domain which had hitherto remained unexplored. The slope of the diffraction peak is fitted and the data are tested against the rigorous bounds.
We consider a new approach towards constructing approximate holographic duals of QCD from experimental hadron properties. This framework allows us to derive a gravity dual which reproduces the empirically found linear square-mass trajectories of universal slope for radially and orbitally excited hadrons. Conformal symmetry breaking in the bulk is exclusively due to infrared deformations of the anti-de Sitter metric and governed by one free mass scale proportional to Lambda_QCD. The resulting background geometry exhibits dual signatures of confinement and provides the first examples of holograp…
Non-forward elastic hadron-scattering data are collected and analysed within the Regge approach. Through an analysis of the data in small bins in $t$, we have directly extracted the pomeron trajectory and the hadronic form factors (or reggeon couplings). We found higher values than usually used for the intercept and for the slope of the soft pomeron trajectory. The presence of zeros in $t$ for the effective hadronic form factors is emphasised.
We show how both the spectroscopy of heavy-light hadrons and the slope of the Isgur-Wise function can be simultaneously fitted when Heavy Quark Effective Theory is matched onto dynamical quark models, including careful treatment of wigner rotations. Working consistently to order $\vec{v}^2$ and using the parameters from hadron spectroscopy as input, we determine the slope parameter $ρ$ for s-wave transitions to be $1.19 \pm 0.02$. This agrees with the emperical value for $b \rightarrow c$ transitions.
The interaction region of hard exclusive hadron scattering can have a large transverse size due to endpoint contributions, where one parton carries most of the hadron momentum. The endpoint region is enhanced and can dominate in processes involving multiple scattering and quark helicity flip. The endpoint Fock states have perturbatively short lifetimes and scatter softly in the target. We give plausible arguments that endpoint contributions can explain the apparent absence of color transparency in fixed angle exclusive scattering and the dimensional scaling of transverse rho photoproduction at…
In the framework of the model, where the scattering amplitude is determined by the first and second moments of the GPDs, the qualitative description of all existing experimental data at $\sqrt{s} \geq 52.8 $ GeV, including the Coulomb range and large momentum transfers, is obtained with only 4 free parameters. The spin-flip amplitude of the nucleon-nucleon elastic scattering is determined taking into account the spin-dependence part of the second moment of the generalized parton distributions (GPDs) with a new set of $t $-dependence. The corresponding value of the % analyzing power $A_N$ for t…
We study the consistency of two Higgs doublet models in light of the new bosonic particle discovery at the LHC. We work within a general setup that we call the 2HDM-X, in which the quarks couple to both scalar doublets with aligned couplings such that flavor-changing neutral currents are absent at tree level. The 2HDM-X encompasses the traditional Type I, Type II, lepton specific, and flipped models, but also provides for more general possibilities. The best fit to the current data with a suppressed tau tau signal and a b bbar signal of Standard Model strength is given by the 2HDM-X with speci…
Using the (2+1)-dimensional viscous hydrodynamic code VISH2+1, we present systematic studies of the dependence of pion and proton transverse momentum spectra and their elliptic flow in 200 A GeV Au+Au collisions on the parameters of the hydrodynamic model (thermalization time, initial entropy density distribution, decoupling temperature, equation of state, and specific shear viscosity eta/s). We identify a tension between the slope of the proton spectra, which (within hydrodynamic simulations that assume a constant shear viscosity to entropy density ratio) prefer larger eta/s values, and the s…
We attempt to describe soft hadron interactions in the framework of saturation models, one based upon the Balitsky-Kovchegov non-linear equation and another one due to Golec-Biernat and Wüsthoff. For $pp$, $Kp$, and $πp$ scattering the relevant hadronic wave functions are formulated, and total, elastic cross-sections, and the forward elastic slope are calculated and compared to experimental data. The saturation mechanism leads to reasonable reproduction of the data for the quantities analyzed, except for the forward elastic slope, where the predicted increase with energy is too moderate.
The HJET Polarized Atomic Hydrogen Gas Jet Target polarimeter (HJET) polarimeter was designed to measure the absolute polarization of the proton beams at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. In these measurements, the small scattering angle elastic $pp$ single $A_N(t)$ and double $A_{NN}(t)$ spin analyzing powers can be precisely determined. The experimental accuracy achieved at HJET requires corrections to the $A_N(t)$ parametrization, conventionally used for such studies. In this paper we evaluate the corrections to the analyzing powers due to (i) the differences between the electromagnetic …
Spin-dependent interaction in hadrons is considered in the approach of the QCD string. The string moment of inertia, which ensures the correct (inverse) Regge slope 2*pi*sigma, is found to suppress the spin-orbit interaction. For light quarks and moderate angular momenta the suppression constitutes around 25% whereas for large angular momenta the spin-orbit interaction is suppressed by the factor L^(-2/5). For heavy quarks the effect manifests itself as a string correction for the spin-dependent potential.
It is shown that the contribution of the instantons to the fragmentation of quarks leads to the appearance of a imaginary part in diagrams of quark-quark scattering at large transfer momentum. The imaginary part comes from the analytical continuation of the instanton amplitudes from Euclidean to Minkowsky space-time and reflects quasiclassical origin of instanton solution of QCD equations of motion. This phenomenon and instanton--induced quark spin-flip give a new nonperturbative mechanism for the observed anomalous single-spin asymmetries in hadron-hadron and lepton-hadron interactions.
Relations between differential cross section for inelastic scattering of electrons on hadrons and hadron form factors (sum rules) are derived on the basis of analytical properties of heavy photon forward Compton scattering on hadrons. Sum rules relating the slope of form-factors at zero momentum transfer and anomalous magnetic moments of hadrons with some integrals on photo-production on a hadrons is obtained as well. To provide the convergence of these integrals we construct differences of individual sum rules for different hadrons. Universal interaction of Pomeron with nucleons is assumed. W…
We discuss a model for the space-time evolution of ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions which employs relativistic hydrodynamics within one region of the forward light-cone, and microscopic transport theory (i.e. UrQMD) in the complement. Our initial condition consists of a quark-gluon plasma which expands hydrodynamically and hadronizes. After hadronization the solution eventually changes from expansion in local equilibrium to free streaming, as determined selfconsistently by the interaction rates between the hadrons and the local expansion rate. We show that in such a scenario the inverse …
