An approximate holographic dual of QCD is constructed and shown to reproduce the empirical linear trajectories of universal slope on which the square masses of radially and orbitally excited hadrons join. Conformal symmetry breaking and other IR effects are described exclusively by deformations of the anti-de Sitter background metric. The predictions for the light hadron spectrum include new relations between ground state masses and trajectory slopes and are in good overall agreement with experimental data.
We propose a model for baryons at finite temperature using AdS/QCD correspondence. In this model, we modify the AdS spacetime into the AdS-Schwarzchild spacetime and consider a couple of bulk spinors in this background. Solving this model, we get an eigenvalue equation for the baryon masses. We then investigate the effects of temperature on the baryon masses numerically, and find an interesting temperature dependence. Our result is consistent with the results from lattice QCD and other phenomenological models.
We study the 5D Rarita-Schwinger fields to describe spin 3/2 baryons in AdS/QCD. We calculate the spectrum of spin 3/2 baryons (Delta resonances) and their form factors, together with meson-baryon couplings from AdS/QCD. The transition form-factors between Delta and nucleon are evaluated. Both pion and rho meson couplings have the same origin in the bulk and hence unified. The numerical values for the meson-baryon transition couplings are consistent with the values obtained from other methods. We also predict the numerical values of some new couplings associated with Delta resonances.
The spectrum of doubly heavy baryons, hadrons made up of two heavy quarks and one light quark, is computed through a potential model with relativistic kinematics. The expression for the $Q\bar Q$ potential comes from the AdS/QCD correspondence.
The spectrum of baryons with two heavy quarks is predicted, assuming a configuration of a light quark and a heavy diquark. The masses are computed within a semirelativistic quark model, using a potential obtained in the framework of the AdS/QCD correspondence. All the parameters defining the model are determined fitting the meson spectrum. The obtained mass of Ξ_{cc} is in agreement with the measurements.
Recently we derived a soft-wall AdS-Schwarzschild approach at small temperatures for the description of hadrons with integer spin and adjustable number of constituents (mesons, tetraquarks, dibaryons, etc.). In the present paper we extend our formalism to states with half-integer spin (baryons, pentaquarks, etc.), presenting analytical results for the temperature dependence of their masses and form factors.
The correspondence between theories in anti-de Sitter space and field theories in physical space-time leads to an analytic, semiclassical model for strongly-coupled QCD which has scale invariance at short distances and color confinement at large distances. These equations, for both mesons and baryons, give a very good representation of the observed hadronic spectrum, including a zero mass pion. Light-front holography allows hadronic amplitudes in the AdS fifth dimension to be mapped to frame-independent light-front wavefunctions of hadrons in physical space-time, thus providing a relativistic …
Based on the AdS/CFT correspondence, we present a holographic description of various C-odd exchanges in high energy baryon-baryon and baryon-antibaryon scattering, and calculate their respective contributions to the difference in the total cross sections. We predict that, due to the warp factor of AdS_5, the total cross section in pp collisions is larger than in p\bar{p} collisions at asymptotically high energies.
We analyze Regge trajectories in terms of the $1/N_c$ expansion of QCD. Neglecting spin-orbit contributions to the large $N_c$ baryon mass operator, we consider the evolution of the spin-flavor singlet component of the masses with respect to the angular momentum. We find two distinct and remarkably linear Regge trajectories for symmetric and for mixed symmetric spin-flavor multiplets.
Rotational motions for the quark-diquark (q-qq), linear (q-q-q) "three-string" (Y) and "triangle" string baryon models are considered and applied to description of baryonic orbitally exited states on the Regge trajectories. For the model "triangle" (three pointlike masses bounded pairwise by relativistic strings) the rotating closed string has a form of a curvilinear triangle composed of segments of a hypocycloid. The ultrarelativistic asymptotic relation between the energy $E=M$ and the total angular momentum $J$ has the same form $J\simeqα'E^2+α_1E^{1/2}$ for rotational states in all string …
The parton model relations in conjunction with quark-hadron duality in deep inelastic scattering suggests an asymptotic dominance of quark-diquark type of baryonic excited states with a radial Regge uniformly distributed mass squared spectrum $M_{n}^2 = μ^2 n + M_0^2$. We argue that this points to a lineary quark-diquark confining potential. We analyze the radial ($n$) and angular-momentum ($J$) Regge trajectories for all light-quark states with baryon number one listed in the 2016 edition of the Particle Data Tables. The parameters of the mass squared trajectories are obtained by linear regre…
Various string models of mesons and baryons include a string carrying 2 or 3 massive points (quarks or antiquarks). Rotational states (planar uniform rotations) of these systems generate quasilinear Regge trajectories and may be used for describing excited hadron states on these trajectories. For different string models of baryon we are to solve the problem of choice between them and the stability problem for their rotational states. An unexpected result is that for the Y string baryon model these rotations are unstable with respect to small disturbances on the classical level. This instabilit…
We construct an infrared-improved soft-wall AdS/QCD model for baryons by considering the infrared-modified 5D conformal mass and Yukawa coupling of the bulk baryon field. The model is also built by taking into account the parity-doublet pattern for the excited baryons. When taking the bulk vacuum structure of the meson field to be the one obtained consistently in the infrared-improved soft-wall AdS/QCD model for mesons, we arrive at a consistent prediction for the baryon mass spectrum in even and odd parity. The prediction shows a remarkable agreement with the experimental data. We also perfor…
In contrast to past studies, the current paper is focused on baryons, and all four isospin states have been independently generated using u and d quarks with various constituent masses. The hypercentral Constituent Quark Model (hCQM) serves as the theoretical foundation for computing the resonance masses. The spin-dependent and first order correction terms are added to the confining potential, which is assumed to be in linear form. The resulting results have been contrasted with a wide range of methodologies and experimentally practicable states. Regge trajectories for (n,M^2) and (J,M^2) have…
We calculate the $a_1$ meson-nucleon coupling constant in the framework of soft-wall and hard-wall AdS/QCD models. In the bulk of AdS space were written bulk interaction Lagrangians for a minimal gauge coupling, a magnetic gauge coupling and a triple coupling. To use AdS/CFT correspondence and these bulk interaction Lagrangians we calculate the $a_1$ axial-vector meson-nucleon coupling constant in the boundary of AdS space within both models. We observe that the numerical values for the $g_{a_1 NN}$ coupling constant in the framework of both models are more close to the experimental value than…
We discuss a holographic soft-wall model developed for the description of mesons and baryons with adjustable quantum numbers n, J, L, S. This approach is based on an action which describes hadrons with broken conformal invariance and which incorporates confinement through the presence of a background dilaton field. Results obtained for heavy-light meson masses and decay constants are consistent with predictions of HQET. In the baryon sector applications to the baryon masses, nucleon electromagnetic form factors and generalized parton distributions are discussed.
We consider an interaction of a spin-3/2 field with the electromagnetic field in the framework of the hard-wall model of AdS/QCD. We write Lagrangian for this interaction including all kinds interaction terms in the bulk of AdS$_{5}$ space and present the scattering matrix element in integrals over the fifth coordinate. Comparing the current matrix element obtained in the boundary of this space with the one known from field theory, we find the vertex function coefficients for the $γ^{*}ΔΔ$ interaction vertex. As an example, we apply the obtained coefficients to the computation of the charge fo…
The AdS/CFT correspondence may offer new and useful insights into the non-perturbative regime of strongly coupled gauge theories such as Quantum Chromodynamics. Soft-wall AdS/QCD models have reproduced the linear trajectories of meson spectra by including background dilaton and chiral condensate fields. Efforts to derive these background fields from a scalar potential have so far been unsuccessful in satisfying the UV boundary conditions set by the AdS/CFT dictionary while reproducing the IR behavior needed to obtain the correct chiral symmetry breaking and meson spectra. We present a three-fi…
Mass spectra of heavy baryons are calculated in the heavy-quark--light-diquark picture in the framework of the QCD-motivated relativistic quark model. The dynamics of light quarks in the diquark as well as the dynamics of the heavy quark and light diquark in the baryon are treated completely relativistically without application of nonrelativistic v/c and heavy quark 1/m_Q expansions. Such approach allows us to get predictions for the heavy baryon masses for rather high orbital and radial excitations. On this basis the Regge trajectories of heavy baryons for orbital and radial excitations are c…
We investigate the in-medium behavior of mesons at finite temperature and baryon chemical potential within a soft-wall model of AdS/QCD. We use a quartic scalar potential to obtain the correct form of chiral symmetry breaking. At zero quark mass the chiral phase transition is second-order, becoming a crossover at physical quark mass. At zero baryon chemical potential, we find a chiral transition temperature of 155 MeV in the chiral limit and a pseudo-transition temperature of 151 MeV at physical quark mass, consistent with lattice results. In the low-temperature limit, the second-order transit…
We propose a unified approach to study meson, nucleon and $Δ$-baryon properties at zero and finite temperatures in the context of hard-wall AdS/QCD model. We first combine some previous works dealing with mesons and baryons separately, and introduce a new parameter~$ξ$ so that the model could give a universal description of spectrum and couplings of both sectors in a self-consistent way. All observables calculated numerically show reasonable agreement with experimental data. We then study these observables at nonzero temperature by modifying the AdS space-time into AdS-Schwartzchild space-time…
A simple procedure within the $1/N_c$ expansion method where all the $N_c$ quarks are treated on the same footing has been found successful in describing mixed symmetric negative parity baryon states belonging to the $[{\bf 70},\ell^-]$ multiplets %with $\ell$ = 1, 2 or 3. of the $N$ = 1 and 3 bands. Presently it is applied to mixed symmetric positive parity $[{\bf 70},0^+]$ and $[{\bf 70},2^+]$ multiplets of the $N$ = 2 band. We search for the most dominant terms in the mass formula. The results are compared to those obtained in the procedure where the system is separated into a core and an e…
We present the mass spectra of radial and orbital excited states of singly heavy bottom baryons; $Σ_{b}^{+}, Σ_{b}^-, Ξ_b^-, Ξ_b^0, Λ_b^0$ and $Ω_b^-$. The QCD motivated hypercentral quark model is employed for the three body description of baryons and the form of confinement potential is hyper coulomb plus linear. The first order correction to the confinement potential is also incorporated in this work. The semi-electronic decay of $Ω_b$ and $Ξ_b$ are calculated using the spectroscopic parameters of the baryons. The computed results are compared with other theoretical predictions as well as w…
We present a closed framework of AdS/CFT with finite U(1)B-charge chemical potential. We show how the gauge-invariant identification of the chemical potential with the bulk gauge field emerges from the standard AdS/CFT dictionary. Physical importance and necessity of the Minkowski embeddings within the present framework is also shown numerically in the D3-D7 systems. We point out that the D3-D7 model with only the black-hole embeddings does not have the low-temperature and low-chemical-potential region in the grand-canonical ensemble, hence it is incomplete. A physical interpretation that expl…
Families of $J^P=1/2+$ nucleons (N(939), N(1440), N(1710), N(1880), N(2100), N(2300)) and $J^P=3/2-$ nucleons (N(1520), N(1700), N(1875) and N(2120)) are scrutinized from the point of view of the configurational entropy (CE). The mass spectra of higher $J^P$ resonances in each one of these families are then obtained when configurational-entropic Regge trajectories, that relate the CE of nucleon families to both their $J^P$ spin and also to their experimental mass spectra, are interpolated. The mass spectra of the next generation of nucleon resonances are then compared to already established ba…
An empirical principle for the construction of a linear relationship between the total angular momentum and squared-mass of baryons is proposed. In order to examine linearity of the trajectories, a rigorous least-squares regression analysis was performed. Unlike the standard Regge-Chew-Frautschi approach, the constructed trajectories do not have non-linear behaviour. A similar regularity may exist for lowest-mass mesons. The linear baryonic trajectories are well described by a semi-classical picture based on a spinning relativistic string with tension. The obtained numerical solution of this m…
Bulk mesons propagating in chiral and gluon condensates, in a gravity background, are scrutinized in holographic soft wall AdS/QCD models, involving deformed dilatonic backgrounds. The configurational entropy of the $a_1$ axial vector, the $ρ$ vector, and the $f_0$ scalar meson families is then computed. Two types of informational entropic Regge trajectories are then obtained, where the logarithm of the mesons configurational entropy is expressed in terms of both the experimental meson mass spectra and their excitation number as well. Therefore the mass spectra of the next generation of elemen…
We construct a holographic model for baryons in the context of AdS/QCD and study the spin-1/2 nucleon spectra and its couplings to mesons, taking fully account of the effects from the chiral symmetry breaking. A pair of 5D spinors is introduced to represent both left and right chiralities. Our model contains two adjustable parameters, the infrared cutoff and the Yukawa coupling of bulk spinors to bulk scalars, corresponding to the order parameter of chiral symmetry. Taking the lowest-lying nucleon mass as an input, we calculate the mass spectrum of excited nucleons and the nucleon couplings to…
The mass spectrum of Delta resonances is compared to predictions based on three quark-model variants, to predictions assuming that chiral symmetry is restored in high-mass baryon resonances, and to predictions derived from AdS/QCD. The latter approach yields a nearly perfect agreement when the confinement property of QCD is modeled by a soft wall in AdS.
It has recently been suggested that the observed structure of parity doublets, seen in the spectrum of highly excited baryons, may be due to the effective restoration of chiral symmetry for these states. This chiral symmetry restoration high in the spectrum is consistent with the concept of quark-hadron duality. Moreover, if QCD dynamics implies the linear Regge trajectories for highly excited baryons, then the MacDowell symmetry requires the parity doubling to appear, which shows that linear Regge trajectories and chiral symmetry restoration are well compatible. On the contrary, in the low-en…
A hadron's multiquark content reflects itself in the quark composition of the interpolator with which it has maximal overlap. The AdS/CFT dictionary translates the anomalous dimension of this interpolator into a mass correction for the corresponding dual mode. Hence such bulk-mass corrections can carry holographic information on multiquark correlations. Two prominent examples are studied by implementing this robust and universal mechanism into AdS/QCD gravity duals. In the baryon sector bulk-mass corrections are used to describe systematic good (i.e. maximally attractive) diquark effects. The …
We investigate the thermodynamics of a thermal field theory in presence of both a baryon and an isospin chemical potential. For this we consider a probe of several D7-branes embedded in the AdS-Schwarzschild black hole background. We determine the structure of the phase diagram and calculate the relevant thermodynamical quantities both in the canonical and in the grand canonical ensemble. We discuss how accidental symmetries present reflect themselves in the phase diagram: In the case of two flavors, for small densities, there is a rotational symmetry in the plane spanned by the baryon and iso…
Recent research has indicated that meson and baryon Regge trajectories are nonlinear and that all current models are ruled out by data. Tang and Norbury have identified a number of properties for Regge trajectories: a test zone for linearity, divergence, parallelism and intersecting lines. Likewise, Inopin has reconstructed Regge trajectories for mesons and baryons, indicating that a majority of trajectories is grossly nonlinear. In most of the models for Regge trajectories, there is no indication that researchers have studied particle binding energies to explain the deviation of experimental …
We describe the observed light-baryon spectrum by extending superconformal quantum mechanics to the light front and its embedding in AdS space. This procedure uniquely determines the confinement potential for arbitrary half-integer spin. To this end, we show that fermionic wave equations in AdS space are dual to light-front supersymmetric quantum mechanical bound-state equations in physical space-time. The specific breaking of conformal invariance explains hadronic properties common to light mesons and baryons, such as the observed mass pattern in the radial and orbital excitations, from the s…
A simple quark-diquark model for the baryons is constructed as a partial solution to the well known missing resonances problem. A complete classification of the baryonic states in the quark-diquark framework is given and the spectrum is calculated through a mass formula built to reproduce the rotational and vibrational Regge trajectories.
By assuming the existence of (quasi)-linear baryon Regge trajectories, we derive new quadratic Gell-Mann-Okubo type baryon mass relations. These relations are used to predict the masses of the charmed baryons absent from the Baryon Summary Table so far, in good agreement with the predictions of many other approaches.
The Anti-de Sitter Space/Conformal Field Theory (AdS/CFT) correspondence may offer new and useful insights into the non-perturbative regime of strongly coupled gauge theories such as Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). Soft-wall AdS/QCD models have reproduced the linear Regge trajectories of meson spectra by including background dilaton and chiral condensate fields. Efforts to derive these background fields from a scalar potential have so far been unsuccessful in satisfying the UV boundary conditions set by the AdS/CFT dictionary while reproducing the IR behavior needed to obtain the correct meson s…
We calculate the mass spectra of the singly charmed baryons ($Λ_{c}^{+}$, $Σ_{c}^{0}$, $Ξ_{c}^{0}$ and $Ω_{c}^{0}$) using Hypercentral constituent quark model(hCQM). The hyper color coloumb plus linear potential is used to calculate the masses of positive(upto $J^{p}=\frac{7}{2}^{+}$) and negative parity(upto $J^{p}=\frac{9}{2}^{-}$) excited states. The spin-spin, spin-orbital and tensor interaction terms are also incorporated for mass spectra. We have compared our results with other theoretical predictions and Lattice QCD for each baryons. Moreover, the known experimental results are also rea…
We have computed the baryon spectrum in the context of $\mathcal{N} = 4$ super-conformal Yang-Mills theory using AdS/CFT duality. Baryons are included in the theory by adding an open string sector, corresponding to quarks in the fundamental and higher representations. The hadron mass scale is introduced by imposing boundary conditions at the wall at the end of AdS space. The quantum numbers of each baryon, are identified by matching the fall-off of the string wavefunction $Ψ(x,r)$ at the asymptotic 3+1 boundary to the operator dimension of the lowest three-quark Fock state, subject to appropri…
Early Chew-Frautschi plots show that meson and baryon Regge trajectoies are approximately linear and non-intersecting. In this paper, we reconstruct all Regge trajectories from the most recent data. Our plots show that meson trajectories are non-linear and intersecting. We also show that all current meson Regge trajectories models are ruled out by data.
New equations are derived for meson and baryon Green's functions in a systematic method using the QCD Lagrangian and large N_c approximation as a starting point. The equations are shown to contain both confinement dynamics and chiral symmetry breaking. Linear Regge trajectories are demonstrated for the solutions.

Mesons and baryons are considered in soft-wall holographic approach based on the correspondence of string theory in AdS space and conformal field theory in physical space-time. The model generates Regge trajectories linear in n and J (L) for the hadronic mass spectrum. Results obtained for heavy-light meson masses and decay constants are consistent with predictions of HQET. In the baryon sector applications to the nucleon electromagnetic form factors and generalized parton distributions are discussed.
We introduce an improved mass formula for the nucleon and delta resonances and show how it emerges from AdS/QCD in a straightforward extension of the 'metric soft wall' gravity dual. The resulting spectrum depends on just one adjustable parameter, characterizing confinement-induced IR deformations of the anti-de Sitter (AdS) metric, and on the fraction of 'good' (i.e. maximally attractive) diquarks in the baryon's quark model wave function. Despite its simplicity, the predicted spectrum describes the masses of all 48 observed light-quark baryon states and their linear trajectory structure with…
Excited states masses of the strange singly charmed baryons are calculated using the non-relativistic approach of hypercentral Constituent Quark Model (hCQM). The hyper-Coulomb plus screened potential is used as a confinement potential with the first order correction. The spin-spin, spin-orbit and spin-tensor interaction terms are included perturbatively. Our calculated masses are allowed to construct the Regge trajectories in both $(n_r, M^2)$ and $(J, M^2)$ planes. The mass spectra and the Regge trajectories study predict the spin-parity of $Ξ{_c(2970)^{+/0}}$, $Ξ{_c(3080)^{+/0}}$, $Ξ{_c(312…
We construct the first analytic self-gravitating Skyrmions with higher Baryon charge in four dimensions for the $SU(3)$-Skyrme-Einstein-$Λ$ theory by combining the generalized hedgehog ansatz with the approach developed by Balachandran et al. to describe the first (numerical) example of a non-embedded solution. These are genuine $SU(3)$ analytic solutions instead of trivial embeddings of $SU(2)$ into $SU(3)$ and its geometry is that of a Bianchi IX Universe. The Skyrme ansatz is chosen in such a way that the Skyrme field equations are identically satisfied in the sector with Baryon charge 4. T…
Because of the presence of modified warp factors in metric tensors, we use deformed AdS$_5$ spaces to apply the AdS/CFT correspondence to calculate the spectra for even and odd glueballs, scalar and vector mesons, and baryons with different spins. For the glueball cases, we derive their Regge trajectories and compare them with those related to the pomeron and the odderon. For the scalar and vector mesons as well as baryons the determined masses are compatible with the PDG. In particular for these hadrons we found Regge trajectories compatible with another holographic approach as well as with t…
Using the AdS/CFT correspondence for strongly coupled gauge theories, we calculate thermalization of mesons caused by a time-dependent change of a baryon number chemical potential. On the gravity side, the thermalization corresponds to a horizon formation on the probe flavor brane in the AdS throat. Since heavy ion collisions are locally approximated by a sudden change of the baryon number chemical potential, we discuss implication of our results to RHIC and LHC experiments, to find a rough estimate of rather rapid thermalization time-scale t_{th} < 1 [fm/c]. We also discuss universality of ou…
We scrutinized hadronic Regge trajectories in a framework of two different models --- string and potential. Our results are compared with broad spectrum of existing theoretical quark models and all experimental data from PDG98. It was recognized that Regge trajectories for mesons and baryons are not straight and parallel lines in general in the current resonance region both experimentally and theoretically, but very often have appreciable curvature, which is flavor-dependent. For a set of baryon Regge trajectories this fact is well described in the considered potential model. The standard stri…
We study the physics with finite nuclear density in the framework of AdS/QCD with holographic baryon field included. Based on a mean field type approach, we introduce the nucleon density as a bi-fermion condensate of the lowest mode of the baryon field and calculate the density dependence of the chiral condensate and the nucleon mass. We observe that the chiral condensate as well as the mass of nucleon decrease with increasing nuclear density. We also consider the mass splitting of charged vector mesons in iso-spin asymmetric nuclear matter.
