Eigenvalues in gaps of selfadjoint operators in Pontryagin spaces

Spectral perturbation bounds for selfadjoint operators

We give general spectral and eigenvalue perturbation bounds for a selfadjoint operator perturbed in the sense of the pseudo-Friedrichs extension. We also give several generalisations of the aforementioned extension. The spectral bounds for finite eigenvalues are obtained by using analyticity and monotonicity properties (rather than variational principles) and they are general enough to include eigenvalues in gaps of the essential spectrum.

On Selfadjoint Subspace of One-Speed Boltzmann Operator

The aim of the paper is to obtain a description of the selfadjoint subspace of the one-speed Boltzmann operator. It is proved that this subspace is nontrivial if the collision integral is polynomial and the multiplication coefficient has a lattice of gaps. A similar result is shown to hold for the 3-dimensional transport operator. Keywords: completely nonselfadjoint, Boltzmann operator, uncertainly principle.

Eigenvalue asymptotics for confining magnetic Schrödinger operators with complex potentials

This article is devoted to the spectral analysis of the electro-magnetic Schrödinger operator on the Euclidean plane. In the semiclassical limit, we derive a pseudo-differential effective operator that allows us to describe the spectrum in various situations and appropriate regions of the complex plane. Spectral Estimates and Non-Selfadjoint Perturbations of Spheroidal Wave Operators

We derive a spectral representation for the oblate spheroidal wave operator which is holomorphic in the aspherical parameter $Ω$ in a neighborhood of the real line. For real $Ω$, estimates are derived for all eigenvalue gaps uniformly in $Ω$. The proof of the gap estimates is based on detailed estimates for complex solutions of the Riccati equation. The spectral representation for complex $Ω$ is derived using the theory of slightly non-selfadjoint perturbations.

Eigenvalue bounds in the gaps of Schrodinger operators and Jacobi matrices

We consider $C=A+B$ where $A$ is selfadjoint with a gap $(a,b)$ in its spectrum and $B$ is (relatively) compact. We prove a general result allowing $B$ of indefinite sign and apply it to obtain a $(δV)^{d/2}$ bound for perturbations of suitable periodic Schrodinger operators and a (not quite)Lieb-Thirring bound for perturbations of algebro-geometric almost periodic Jacobi matrices.

Eigenvalue estimates for singular left-definite Sturm-Liouville operators

The spectral properties of a singular left-definite Sturm-Liouville operator $JA$ are investigated and described via the properties of the corresponding right-definite selfadjoint counterpart $A$ which is obtained by substituting the indefinite weight function by its absolute value. The spectrum of the $J$-selfadjoint operator $JA$ is real and it follows that an interval $(a,b)\subset\mathbb R^+$ is a gap in the essential spectrum of $A$ if and only if both intervals $(-b,-a)$ and $(a,b)$ are gaps in the essential spectrum of the $J$-selfadjoint operator $JA$.
