Topological discretization of bosonic strings

We apply the method of topological quantization to obtain the bosonic string topological spectrum propagating on a flat background. We define the classical configuration of the system, and construct the corresponding principal fiber bundle (pfb) that uniquely represents it. The topological spectrum is defined through the characteristic class of the pfb. We find explicit expressions for the topological spectrum for particular configurations of the bosonic strings on a Minkowski background and show that they lead to a discretization of the total energy of the system.

Delta-function Interactions for the Bosonic and Spinning Strings and the Generation of Abelian Gauge Theory

We construct contact interactions for bosonic and spinning strings. In the tensionless limit of the spinning string this reproduces the super-Wilson loop that couples spinor matter to Abelian gauge theory. Adding boundary terms that quantise the motion of charges results in a string model equivalent to spinor QED. The strings represent lines of electric flux connected to the charges. The purely bosonic model is spoilt by divergences that are excluded from the spinning model by world-sheet supersymmetry, indicating a preference for spinor matter.

On the multiloop soft theorem of the dilaton in the bosonic string

In this note we show that by fixing the multiloop Green function in the closed bosonic string to be Arakelov's Green function, one obtains factorization of scattering amplitudes with a softly emitted dilaton to the same level as with a graviton to all loop order. This extends our previous analysis at one loop to all loop orders and confirms that some high-energy quantum symmetry in the bosonic string protects the factorization of amplitudes with softly emitted dilatons.

Local aspects of free open bosonic string field theory

We show that strictly local observables with arbitrarily small support in space-time exist in covariant free open bosonic string field theory. The main ingredient of the proof is a modified version of the well known DDF operators, which we rigourously define. This result allows in principle the definition of a net of local observable algebras and should be considered as a first step towards the application of algebraic quantum field theory to this case

Spinor and Twistor Formulations of Tensionless Bosonic Strings in Four Dimensions

Spinor and twistor formulations of tensionless bosonic strings in 4-dimensional Minkowski space are constructed. Homotopy Classification of Bosonic String Field Theory

We prove the decomposition theorem for the loop homotopy algebra of quantum closed string field theory and use it to show that closed string field theory is unique up to gauge transformations on a given string background and given S-matrix. Algebraic quantization of the closed bosonic string

The gauge invariant observables of the closed bosonic string are quantized without anomalies in four space-time dimensions by constructing their quantum algebra in a manifestly covariant approach. The quantum algebra is the kernel of a derivation on the universal envelopping algebra of an infinite-dimensional Lie algebra. New bosonic hard string scattering amplitudes and extended Gross conjecture in superstring theory

We discover new hard string scattering amplitudes (HSSA) with polarizations orthogonal to the scattering plane in the NS sector of 10D open superstring theory. Covariant canonical formalism for Dirac-Nambu-Goto bosonic p-branes and the Gauss-Bonnet topological term in string theory

Using a covariant and gauge invariant geometric structure constructed on the Witten covariant phase space for Dirac-Nambu-Goto bosonic p-branes propagating in a curved background, we find the canonically conjugate variables, and the relevant commutation relations are considered, as well as, we find the canonical variables for the Gauss-Bonnet topological term in string theory.

The holomorphic bosonic string

We present a holomorphic version of the bosonic string in the formalism of quantum field theory developed by Costello and collaborators. In this paper we focus on the case in which space-time is flat and construct a one-loop exact quantization. A global weak solution to the full bosonic string heat flow

We prove the existence of a unique global weak solution to the full bosonic string heat flow from closed Riemannian surfaces to an arbitrary target under smallness conditions on the two-form and the scalar potential. The solution is smooth with the exception of finitely many singular points. Finally, we discuss the convergence of the heat flow and obtain a new existence result for critical points of the full bosonic string action.

Natural constructions of some generalized Kac-Moody algebras as bosonic strings

There are 10 generalized Kac-Moody algebras whose denominator identities are completely reflective automorphic products of singular weight on lattices of squarefree level. Under the assumption that the meromorphic vertex operator algebra of central charge 24 and spin-1 algebra $\hat{A}_{p-1,p}^r$ exists we show that four of them can be constructed in a uniform way from bosonic strings moving on suitable target spaces.
