Topological discretization of bosonic strings

We apply the method of topological quantization to obtain the bosonic string topological spectrum propagating on a flat background. We define the classical configuration of the system, and construct the corresponding principal fiber bundle (pfb) that uniquely represents it. The topological spectrum is defined through the characteristic class of the pfb. We find explicit expressions for the topological spectrum for particular configurations of the bosonic strings on a Minkowski background and show that they lead to a discretization of the total energy of the system.

Algebraic quantization of the closed bosonic string

The gauge invariant observables of the closed bosonic string are quantized without anomalies in four space-time dimensions by constructing their quantum algebra in a manifestly covariant approach. The quantum algebra is the kernel of a derivation on the universal envelopping algebra of an infinite-dimensional Lie algebra. The search for Hilbert space representations of this algebra is separated from its construction, and postponed.

Virasoro Algebra and Asymptotic Symmetries from Fractional Bosonic Strings

The aim of this work is to further study the fractional bosonic string theory. In particular, we wrote the energy-momentum tensor in the fractional conformal gauge and study their symmetries. We introduced the Virasoro operators of all orders. Covariant canonical formalism for Dirac-Nambu-Goto bosonic p-branes and the Gauss-Bonnet topological term in string theory

Using a covariant and gauge invariant geometric structure constructed on the Witten covariant phase space for Dirac-Nambu-Goto bosonic p-branes propagating in a curved background, we find the canonically conjugate variables, and the relevant commutation relations are considered, as well as, we find the canonical variables for the Gauss-Bonnet topological term in string theory.

New bosonic hard string scattering amplitudes and extended Gross conjecture in superstring theory

We discover new hard string scattering amplitudes (HSSA) with polarizations orthogonal to the scattering plane in the NS sector of 10D open superstring theory. The corresponding HSSA in the bosonic string theory are of subleading order in energy. In addition, all HSSA are found to be proportional to each other and the ratios among these HSSA are calculated to justify Gross conjecture in 1988 on high energy symmetry of string theory. The holomorphic bosonic string

We present a holomorphic version of the bosonic string in the formalism of quantum field theory developed by Costello and collaborators. In this paper we focus on the case in which space-time is flat and construct a one-loop exact quantization. Starting from first principles, we arrive at the critical dimension as an obstruction to satisfying the quantum master equation. A global weak solution to the full bosonic string heat flow

We prove the existence of a unique global weak solution to the full bosonic string heat flow from closed Riemannian surfaces to an arbitrary target under smallness conditions on the two-form and the scalar potential. The solution is smooth with the exception of finitely many singular points. Finally, we discuss the convergence of the heat flow and obtain a new existence result for critical points of the full bosonic string action.

We study harmonic maps from surfaces coupled to a scalar and a two-form potential, which arise as critical points of the action of the full bosonic string. We investigate several analytic and geometric properties of these maps and prove an existence result by the heat flow method.

On the full bosonic string from Minkowski space to Riemannian manifolds

We study the action of the full bosonic string for the domain being two-dimensional Minkowski space and the target a Riemannian manifold. Its critical points couple the wave map equation to a scalar and a two-form potential. Besides investigating their basic features we establish existence results for the latter.

Natural constructions of some generalized Kac-Moody algebras as bosonic strings

There are 10 generalized Kac-Moody algebras whose denominator identities are completely reflective automorphic products of singular weight on lattices of squarefree level. Under the assumption that the meromorphic vertex operator algebra of central charge 24 and spin-1 algebra $\hat{A}_{p-1,p}^r$ exists we show that four of them can be constructed in a uniform way from bosonic strings moving on suitable target spaces.
