We address the question whether it is possible to interpret the low-lying scalar mesons f0(600) and a0(980) as \bar q - q states within a U(3)xU(3) Linear Sigma Model containing vector and axial-vector degrees of freedom.
We discuss an Nf=3 linear sigma model with vector and axial-vector mesons (extended Linear Sigma Model - eLSM). We present first results regarding the masses of axial-vector mesons determined from the extended model.
Zero temperature properties of an (axial-) vector meson extended linear sigma model are discussed, concerning on the possible different realizations of the axial anomaly term. The different anomaly terms are compared with each other on the basis of a chi^2 minimalization process. It is found that there is no essential difference among the different realizations. This means that any of them can be equally used from phenomenological point of view.
We construct the electromagnetic anomaly effective term for a generalized linear sigma model with two chiral nonets, one with a quark-antiquark structure, the other one with a four quark content. We compute in the leading order of this framework the decays into two photons of six pseudoscalars: $π_0(137)$, $π_0(1300)$, $η(547)$, $η(958)$, $η(1295)$ and $η(1760)$. Our results agree well with the available experimental data.
The extended linear sigma model describes the vacuum phenomenology of scalar, pseudoscalar, vector and axial-vector mesons at energies \(\simeq 1\text{ GeV}\). We combine the chiral \(U(2)_L\times U(2)_R\) symmetry of this model with a local \(SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y\) symmetry and obtain a gauge invariant effective description for electroweak interaction of hadrons in the vacuum. Vector and axial-vector spectral functions can be described well by two intermediate resonances \(ρ\) and \(a_1\). They are implemented into this model as chiral partners and yield the predominant contributions to both …
We discuss the phenomenology of the axial-vector mesons within a three-flavour Linear Sigma Model containing scalar, pseudoscalar, vector and axial-vector degrees of freedom.
Features of the non-strange \bar n-n and strange \bar s-s scalar mesons are investigated in the Extended Linear Sigma Model (eLSM) with Nf=3 and vector and axial-vector mesons. Our model contains a pure non-strange and a pure strange scalar state; implementing the mixing of the two states originates two new states, a predominantly non-strange and a predominantly strange one. We investigate the possibility to assign the two mixed states to experimentally well-established resonances. To this end, we calculate the masses and the two-pion decay widths of the mixed states and compare them with expe…
Temperature dependence of the $U_A(1)$ anomaly is investigated by taking into account mesonic fluctuations in the $U(3)\times U(3)$ linear sigma model. A field dependent anomaly coefficient function of the effective potential is calculated within the finite temperature functional renormalization group approach. The applied approximation scheme is a generalization of the chiral invariant expansion technique developed in [G. Fejos, Phys. Rev. D 90, 096011 (2014)]. We provide an analytic expression and also numerical evidence that depending on the relationship between the two quartic couplings, m…
We outline the extension of the globally chirally invariant Nf = 2 linear sigma model with vector and axial-vector degrees of freedom to Nf=3. We present preliminary results concerning the scalar meson masses.
We extend the three-flavor linear sigma model with (axial-)vector mesons to four flavors. We compute the masses of (pseudo)scalar and (axial-)vector mesons including open and hidden charmed mesons as well as weak decay constants. The results are in good agreement with experimental data.
We discuss electro-magnetic and weak axial N-Delta transition amplitudes in the linear sigma-model and the Cloudy-Bag Model as typical representatives of chiral quark models. We show that good qualitative understanding of the transition can be obtained in models which, in addition to the pion cloud, incorporate a fluctuating sigma-field inside the baryon.
The $SU(2)_A \times U(2)_V$-symmetric chiral linear sigma model in the presence of the axial anomaly is studied in the local-potential approximation of the Functional Renormalization Group (FRG). The renormalization group (RG) flow is investigated in a truncation which reproduces recent results for the $U(2)_A \times U(2)_V$-symmetric model in the limit of vanishing axial anomaly strength. We search for the conjectured O(4) fixed point in the presence of the $U(1)_A$ anomaly and analyze its stability properties.
We study scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, and axial-vector mesons with non-strange and strange quantum numbers in the framework of a linear sigma model with global chiral $U(N_f)_L \times U(N_f)_R$ symmetry. We perform a global fit of meson masses, decay widths, as well as decay amplitudes. The quality of the fit is, for a hadronic model that does not consider isospin-breaking effects, surprisingly good. We also investigate the question whether the scalar $\bar{q}q$ states lie below or above 1 GeV and find the scalar states above 1 GeV to be preferred as $\bar{q}q$ states. Additionally, we also d…
We consider vector and axialvector mesons in the framework of a gauged linear sigma model with chiral $U(N_f)_R \times U(N_f)_L$ symmetry. For $N_f=2$, we investigate the behavior of the chiral condensate and the meson masses as a function of temperature by solving a system of coupled Dyson-Schwinger equations derived via the 2PI formalism in double-bubble approximation. We find that the inclusion of vector and axialvector mesons tends to sharpen the chiral transition. Within our approximation scheme, the mass of the $ρ$ meson increases by about 100 MeV towards the chiral transition.
Coupling of `t Hooft's determinant term is investigated in the framework of the three flavor linear sigma model as a function of the chiral condensate. Using perturbation theory around the minimum point of the effective action, we calculate the renormalization group flow of the first field dependent correction to the coupling of the conventional U_A(1) breaking determinant term. It is found that at low temperatures mesonic fluctuations make the anomaly increase when the chiral condensate decreases. As an application, we analyze the effect at the zero temperature nuclear liquid-gas transition.
We estimate the couplings in the Heavy Hadron Chiral Theory (HHCT) lagrangian from the QCD sum rules in an external axial field. We take into account the perturbative correction to the meson correlator in the infinite mass limit. With the perturbative correction and three successive power corrections, the meson correlator in an axial field becomes one of the best known correlators. In spite of this, the corresponding sum rule is not very stable. It yields the result g_1 F^2/(380MeV)^3 = 0.1 - 0.2, where F^2 = f_M^2 m/4 = (380MeV)^3 is the central value of the heavy meson decay constant with th…
In the framework of an SU(3) (axial)vector meson extended linear sigma model with additional constituent quarks and Polyakov loops, we investigate the effects of (axial)vector mesons on the chiral phase transition. The parameters of the Lagrangian are set at zero temperature and we use a hybrid approach where in the effective potential the constituent quarks are treated at one-loop level and all the mesons at tree-level. We have four order parameters, two scalar condensates and two Polyakov loop variables and their temperature and baryochemical potential dependence are determined from the corr…
A simple gauged linear sigma model with several parameters to take the symmetry breaking and the mass differences between the vector meson and the axial vector meson into account is considered here as a possibly useful template for the role of a light scalar in QCD as well as for (at a different scale) an effective Higgs sector for some recently proposed walking technicolor models. An analytic procedure is first developed for relating the Lagrangian parameters to four well established (in the QCD application) experimental inputs. One simple equation distinguishes three different cases:1. QCD w…
The structure of the scalar mesons has been a subject of debate for many decades. In this work we look for $\bar{q}q$ states among the physical resonances using an extended Linear Sigma Model that contains scalar, pseudoscalar, vector, and axial-vector mesons both in the non-strange and strange sectors. We perform global fits of meson masses, decay widths and amplitudes in order to ascertain whether the scalar $\bar{q}q$ states are below or above 1 GeV. We find the scalar states above 1 GeV to be preferred as $\bar{q}q$ states.
The existence of quark matter inside the cores of heavy neutron stars is a possibility which can be probed with modern astrophysical observations. We use an (axial)vector meson extended quark-meson model to describe quark matter in the core of neutron stars. We discover that an additional parameter constraint is necessary in the quark model to ensure chiral restoration at high densities. By investigating hybrid star sequences with various parameter sets we show that low sigma meson masses are needed to fulfill the upper radius constraints, and that the maximum mass of stable hybrid stars is on…
A three flavor linear sigma model with vector and axial-vector mesons is discussed. Preliminary results concerning on the symmetry breaking pattern, the question of parameterization, as well as the resulting meson masses are presented.
We study the restoration of chiral symmetry in linear sigma models with two quark flavors. The models taken into consideration have a U(2)_L x U(2)_R and an O(4) internal symmetry. The physical mesons of these models are sigma, pion, eta and a_0 where the latter two are not present in the O(4) model. Including two-loop contributions through sunset graphs we calculate the temperature behavior of the order parameter and the masses for explicit chiral symmetry breaking and in the chiral limit. Decay threshold effects introduced by the sunset graphs alter the temperature dependence of the condensa…
We present results for the $σ$-terms and axial charges for various hyperons and charmed baryons using $N_f=2+1+1$ twisted mass fermions. For the computation of the three-point function we use the fixed current method. For one of the $N_f=2+1+1$ ensembles with pion mass of 373 MeV we compare the results of the fixed current method with those obtained with a stochastic method for computing the all-to-all propagator involved in the evaluation of the three point functions.
We derive new QCD sum rules for the axial coupling constants by considering two-point correlation functions of the axial-vector currents in a one nucleon state. The QCD sum rules tell us that the axial coupling constants are expressed by nucleon matrix elements of quark and gluon operators which are related to the sigma terms and the moments of parton distribution functions. The results for the iso-vector axial coupling constants and the 8th component of the SU(3) octet are in good agreement with experiment.
We study decay rates and spectra of anti-B --> Lambda anti-p pi, Sigma0 anti-p pi, Sigma- anti-n pi, Xi0 anti-Sigma+ pi, Xi- anti-Sigma0 pi and Xi- anti-Lambda pi modes under a factorization approach. The baryon pairs are produced through vector, axial vector, scalar and pseudoscalar operators. Previous predictions, including ours, are an order of magnitude too small compared to experiment. By incorporating QCD counting rules and studying the asymptotic behavior, we find an earlier relation between the pseudoscalar and axial vector form factors to be too restrictive. Instead, the pseudoscalar …
Dedicated to the memory of Raymond Stora (1930-2015). In the $SU(2)_L\times SU(2)_R$ Linear Sigma Model with PCAC, towers of Ward-Takahashi Identities (WTI) have long been known to give relations among 1-Scalar-Particle-Irreducible Green's functions, and among I- Scalar-Particle-Reducible T-Matrix elements, for external scalars (i.e. the Brout-Englert-Higgs scalar and 3 pseudoscalars). We extend these WTI and the resulting relations to the $SU(3)_C\times SU(2)_L\times U(1)_Y$ Linear Sigma Model including the heaviest generation of Standard Model (SM) fermions supplemented with the minimum nece…
We consider a globally invariant chiral Lagrangian that contains vector and axial-vector mesons. We compute the f0(600) decay width into two pions and pion-pion scattering lengths and compare with the corresponding results in which the (axial-)vector degrees of freedom decouple. We show that the role of vector mesons has a great impact on these quantities.
The QCD sum rules in the large-$N_c$ limit for the light non-strange vector, axial and scalar mesons are considered assuming a string-like linear spectrum for the radially excited states. We propose a improved method for combined analysis of these channels that gives a reasonable description of the observed spectrum. In the vector-axial case, fixing the pion decay constant and the gluon condensate we obtain more or less physical values for the masses of ground states and the quark condensate. Thus a typical need for this method to fix the mass of some ground state is overcome. Using in the sca…
We investigate the effects of (axial)vector mesons on the chiral phase transition in the framework of an SU(3), (axial)vector meson extended linear sigma model with additional constituent quarks and Polyakov loops. We determine the parameters of the Lagrangian at zero temperature in a hybrid approach, where we treat the mesons at tree-level, while the constituent quarks at 1-loop level. We assume two nonzero scalar condensates and together with the Polyakov-loop variables we determine their temperature dependence according to the 1-loop level field equations.
We study the D^{+} -> sigma pi^{+}, D^{+} -> rho^0 pi^{+}, B^{-} -> sigma pi^{-}, B^{-} -> rho^0 pi^{-} and \bar{B}^0 -> rho^{\pm} pi^{\mp} decays in a valence quark triangle model, incorporating chiral symmetries. We find a good agreement with recent experimental data for D^{+} -> sigma pi^{+} and for D^{+} -> rho^0 pi^{+}. We point out that a "long-distance" contribution due to the axial vector a_1 meson pole, calculated by using chiral symmetry, can be relevant to explain D^{+}-> rho^0 π^{+} and for lowering the ratio R=Br(\bar{B}^0 -> rho^{\pm} pi^{\mp})/Br(B^{-} -> rho^0 pi^{-}) to be con…
We present a two-flavour linear sigma model with global chiral symmetry and vector and axial-vector mesons. We calculate pion-pion scattering lengths and the decay widths of scalar, vector, and axial-vector mesons. It is demonstrated that vector and axial-vector meson degrees of freedom play an important role in these low-energy processes and that a reasonable theoretical description requires globally chirally invariant terms other than the vector meson mass term. An important question for meson vacuum phenomenology is the quark content of the physical scalar f0(600) and a0(980) mesons. We inv…
Motivated by a local $3.2-3.4$ sigma resonance in $WH$ and $ZH$ in the ATLAS Run 2 data, we attempt to interpret the excess in terms of a $W'$ boson in a $SU(2)_1 \times SU(2)_2 \times U(1)_X$ model. We stretch the deviation from the alignment limit of the Equivalence Theorem, so as to maximize $WH$ production while keeping the $WZ$ production rate below the experimental limit. We found a viable though small region of parameter space that satisfies all existing constraints on $W' \to jj, t \bar b, WZ$, as well as the precision Higgs data. The cross section of $W' \to WH$ that we obtain is abou…
In the framework of the $U(2)_{R}\times U(2)_{L}$ symmetric linear sigma model with (axial)vector mesons generalized by including a dilaton field we study the phenomenology of the scalar-isoscalar resonances below 2 GeV. It turns out that, in our favoured scenario, the resonance $f_{0}(1370)$ is predominantly a $\bar{q}q$ state and $f_{0}(1500)$ is predominantly a glueball state. Additionally we are able to calculate the value of the gluon condensate, which is in agreement with lattice QCD results.
An extended linear sigma model with mesons (q\bar{q} states) and baryons (qqq states) is presented. The model contains a low energy multiplet for every hadronic particle type, namely a scalar, a pseudoscalar, a vector, and an axialvector nonet, an baryon octet and a baryon decuplet. The model parameters are determined through a multiparametric minimalization with the help of well known physical quantities. It is found that the considered zero temperature quantities (masses and decay widths) can be described well at tree-level and are in good agreement with the experimental data.
We discuss the role of the axial $U(1)_A$ symmetry in the chiral phase transition using the $U(N_f)_R\times U(N_f)_L$ linear sigma model with two massless quark flavors. We expect that above a certain temperature the axial $U(1)_A$ symmetry will be effectively restored as well as $SU(N_f)_R\times SU(N_f)_L$. Then we can construct a string-like static solution the $η$ string and a kink-like classical solution the domain wall during the chiral phase transition. We give out the possible signals for detecting the domain wall in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions.
We investigate a linear sigma model with global chiral $U(2)_{R} \times U(2)_{L}$ symmetry. The mesonic degrees of freedom are the standard scalar and pseudoscalar mesons and the vector and axial-vector mesons. The baryonic degrees of freedom are the nucleon, $N$, and its chiral partner, $N^{*}$, which is usually identified with N(1535). The chiral partner is incorporated in the so-called mirror assignment, where the nucleon mass is not solely generated by the chiral condensate but also by a chirally invariant mass term, $m_{0}$. The presence of (axial-) vector fields modifies the expressions …
We investigate the chiral phase transition of the strongly interacting matter at nonzero temperature and baryon chemical potential $μ_B$ within an extended (2+1) flavor Polyakov constituent quark-meson model which incorporates the effect of the vector and axial vector mesons. The parameters of the model are determined by comparing masses and tree-level decay widths with experimental values. We examine the restoration of the chiral symmetry by monitoring the temperature evolution of condensates. We study the $T-ρ_B$ phase diagram of the model and find that a critical end point exists, although …
We present a comprehensive study of mass modifications of scalar, pseudo-scalar, vector, and axial-vector mesons in nuclear matter using the three-flavor extended Linear Sigma Model (eLSM) and the two-flavor Parity Doublet Model (PDM). The meson masses in nuclear matter are determined by calculating the one-loop nucleon corrections to the meson mean fields. As a result, we find all spin-$0$ meson masses except those of the pion, kaon, and the lightest scalar-isoscalar mesons decrease at finite baryon density. For spin-$1$ mesons, masses of all axial-vector mesons decrease in medium, and the de…
The renormalized contribution of fermions to the curvature masses of vector and axial-vector mesons is derived with two different methods at leading order in the loop expansion applied to the (2+1)-flavor constituent quark-meson model. The corresponding contribution to the curvature masses of the scalar and pseudoscalar mesons, already known in the literature, is rederived in a transparent way. The temperature dependence of the curvature mass of various (axial-)vector modes obtained by decomposing the curvature mass tensor is investigated along with the (axial-)vector--(pseudo)scalar mixing. A…
We present the first quenched lattice QCD study of the form factors relevant for the hyperon semileptonic decay Sigma -> n l nu. The momentum dependence of both axial and vector form factors is investigated and the values of all the form factors at zero-momentum transfer are presented. Following the same strategy already applied to the decay K0 -> pi- l nu, the SU(3)-breaking corrections to the vector form factor at zero-momentum transfer, f1(0), are determined with great statistical accuracy in the regime of the simulated quark masses, which correspond to pion masses above ~ 0.7 GeV. Besides …
A self-consistent strategy is proposed to complete in a renormalization scheme independent way the dynamical generation of Quark-Level Linear Sigma Model like Lagrangean theories beyond one loop like the theories of strong and electroweak interactions. The present discussion refers for simplicity to scalar and pseudoscalar degrees of freedom only while disregarding yet - without loss of generality - vector and axial vector degrees of freedom. Moreover points the discussion to approximations underlying dimensional and implicit regularization as presently used.
We enlarge the so-called extended linear Sigma model (eLSM) by including the charm quark according to the global $U(4)_r\times U(4)_l$ chiral symmetry. In the eLSM, besides scalar and pseudoscalar mesons, also vector and axial-vector mesons are present. Almost all the parameters of the model were fixed in a previous study of mesons below 2 GeV. In the extension to the four-flavor case, only three additional parameters (all of them related to the bare mass of the charm quark) appear. We compute the (OZI-dominant) strong decays of open charmed mesons. The results are compatible with the experime…
We show that a chiral nonlinear sigma model coupled to degenerate neutrons exhibits a ferromagnetic phase at high density. The magnetization is due to the axial anomaly acting on the parallel layers of neutral pion domain walls spontaneously formed at high density. The emergent magnetic field would reach the QCD scale ~ 10^19 [G], which suggests that the quantum anomaly can be a microscopic origin of the magnetars (highly magnetized neutron stars).
In this work we present first results on vector and axial-vector meson spectral functions as obtained by applying the non-perturbative functional renormalization group approach to an effective low-energy theory motivated by the gauged linear sigma model. By using a recently proposed analytic continuation method, we study the in-medium behavior of the spectral functions of the $ρ$ and $a_1$ mesons in different regimes of the phase diagram. In particular, we demonstrate explicitly how these spectral functions degenerate at high temperatures as well as at large chemical potentials, as a consequen…
The level classification of quark-antiquark systems is generally made by the LS-coupling scheme, resorting to the non-relativistic quark model. However, it has been well known that the pi-meson with the (L,S)=(0,0) shows also the properties as a Nambu-Goldstone boson in the case of spontaneous breaking of a relativistic symmetry, the chiral symmetry. In this talk I present a covariant classification scheme for describing both the non-relativistic and the relativistic q q bar-mesons and point out possibility for existence of the new scalar meson nonet (to be assigned to the sigma nonet) and als…
In this work we study contributions due to vector and axial-vector meson fluctuations to their in-medium spectral functions in an effective low-energy theory inspired by the gauged linear sigma model. In particular, we show how to describe these fluctuations in the effective theory by massive (axial-)vector fields in agreement with the known structure of analogous single-particle or resonance contributions to the corresponding conserved currents. The vector and axial-vector meson spectral functions are then computed by numerically solving the analytically continued functional renormalization g…
We present a chiral effective model which exhibits all the known symmetry features of the QCD Lagrangian. The extended Linear Sigma Model (eLSM) includes (pseudo-)scalar and (axial-) vector mesons, glueballs, and baryons. It has proven to be a useful tool to understand the nature of the low-energy resonances. It can be used to describe the masses and decay widths of the known low-energy mesons and to disentangle the complicated picture of resonances in the low-energy range. We can answer some of the open questions in the low-energy region, e.g. the resonance (f_0(1500)) is a predominantly glue…
We revisit General Gauge Mediation (GGM) in light of the supersymmetric (linear) sigma model by utilizing the current superfield. The current superfield in the GGM is identified with supersymmetric extension of the vector symmetry current of the sigma model while spontaneous breakdown of supersymmetry in the GGM corresponds to soft breakdown of the axial vector symmetry of the sigma model. We first derive the current superfield from the supersymmetric linear sigma model and then compute 2-point functions of the current superfield using the (anti-)commutation relations of the messenger componen…
A covariant, composite scalar diquark, Fadde'ev amplitude model for the nucleon is used to calculate pseudoscalar, isoscalar- and isovector-vector, axial-vector and scalar nucleon form factors. The last yields the nucleon sigma-term and on-shell sigma-nucleon coupling. The calculated form factors are soft, and the couplings are generally in good agreement with experiment and other determinations. Elements in the dressed-quark-axial-vector vertex that are not constrained by the Ward-Takahashi identity contribute ~20% to the magnitude of g_A. The calculation of the nucleon sigma-term elucidates …
We consider the low energy realization of QCD in terms of meson fields when an axial chemical potential is present; a situation that may be relevant in heavy ion collisions. We shall demonstrate that the presence of an axial charge constitutes an explicit source of parity breaking. The eigenstates of strong interactions do not have a definite parity and interactions that would otherwise be forbidden compete with the familiar ones. In this work, we first focus on scalars and pseudoscalars that are described by a generalized linear sigma model; and next, we give some hints on how the Vector Meso…
The fermion and meson sectors of the quark-level SU(2) linear sigma model are dynamically generated from a meson-quark Lagrangian, with the quark (q) and meson ($σ,π$) fields all treated as elementary, having neither bare masses nor expectation values. In the chiral limit, the masses are predicted to be $m_q = f_πg, m_π= 0, m_σ= 2m_q$, and we also find that the quark-meson coupling $g = 2π/sqrt{N_c}$, the three-meson coupling is $g' = m_σ^2/2f_π= 2gm_q$ and the four-meson coupling is $λ= 2g^2 = g'/f_π$, where $f_π\simeq 90$ MeV is the pion decay constant and $N_c = 3$ is the color number. By g…
We present a two-flavour linear sigma model with global chiral symmetry and (axial-)vector mesons as well as an additional glueball degree of freedom. We study the structure of the well-established scalar resonances f0(1370) and f0(1500): by a fit to experimentally known decay widths we find that f0(1370) is predominantly a \bar{q}q state and f0(1500) is predominantly a glueball state. The overall phenomenology of these two resonances can be well described. Other assignments for our mixed quarkonium-glueball states are also tested, but turn out to be in worse agreement with the phenomenology. …
We report the recent results of the magnetic transitions and axial-vector transitions of the baryon antidecuplet within the framework of the chiral quark-soliton model. The dynamical model parameters are fixed by experimental data for the magnetic moments of the baryon octet, for the hyperon semileptonic decay constants, and for the singlet axial-vector constant. The transition magnetic moments $μ_{ΛΣ}$ and $μ_{NΔ}$ are well reproduced and other octet-decuplet and octet-antidecuplet transitions are predicted. In particular, the present calculation of $μ_{ΣΣ^*}$ is found to be below the upper b…
We describe the Lambda(1405) hyperon as a Feshbach resonance of a bar-KN quasi-bound state coupled by a decaying channel of pi Sigma in the Skyrme model. A weakly bound bar-KN state is generated in the laboratory frame, while the Sigma hyperon as a strongly bound state of bar-KN in the intrinsic frame. We obtain a coupling of bar-KN and pi Sigma channels by computing a baryon matrix element of the axial current. This coupling enables the decay of the bar-KN bound state to pi-Sigma . It is shown that the Skyrme model supports the Lambda(1405) as a narrow Feshbach resonance.
The transition in quantum chromodynamics (QCD) from hadronic matter to the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) at high temperatures and/or net-baryon densities is associated with the restoration of chiral symmetry and can be investigated in the laboratory via heavy-ion collisions. We study this chiral transition within the functional renormalization group (FRG) approach applied to the two-flavor version of the extended Linear Sigma Model (eLSM). The eLSM is an effective model for the strong interaction and features besides scalar and pseudoscalar degrees of freedom also vector and axial- vector mesons. W…
We present an in-depth study of masses and decays of excited scalar and pseudoscalar $\bar{q}q$ states in the Extended Linear Sigma Model (eLSM). The model also contains ground-state scalar, pseudoscalar, vector and axial-vector mesons. The main objective is to study the consequences of the hypothesis that the $f_0(1790)$ resonance, observed a decade ago by the BES Collaboration and recently by LHCb, represents an excited scalar quarkonium. In addition we also analyse the possibility that the new $a_0(1950)$ resonance, observed recently by BABAR, may also be an excited scalar state. Both hypot…
The so-called extended linear sigma model is a chiral model with (pseudo)scalar and (axial-)vector mesons. It is based on the requirements of (global) chiral symmetry and dilatation invariance. The purpose of this model is the description of the hadron phenomenology up to 1.7 GeV. We present the latest theoretical results, which show a good agreement with the experiment.
We investigate from first principles the introduction of isospin-1 vector and axial-vector fields into the nonlinear sigma model. Chiral symmetry is nonlinearly realised and spin-1 fields are assumed to transform homogeneously under chiral rotations. By requiring the Hamiltonian of the theory to be bounded from below we find inequalities relating three- and four-point meson couplings. This leads to a low-energy phenomenological Lagrangian for the nonanomalous sector of $πρa_1$ strong interactions.
The chiral phase transition of the strongly interacting matter is investigated at nonzero temperature and baryon chemical potential mu_B within an extended (2+1) flavor Polyakov constituent quark-meson model which incorporates the effect of the vector and axial vector mesons. The effect of the fermionic vacuum and thermal fluctuations computed from the grand potential of the model is taken into account in the curvature masses of the scalar and pseudoscalar mesons. The parameters of the model are determined by comparing masses and tree-level decay widths with experimental values in a chi^2-mini…
