We also give an obstruction to the existence of $\mathbb{Z}_p$ action on manifolds with isolated fixed points when $p$ is a prime.

The structure space S(M) of a closed topological m-manifold M classifies bundles whose fibers are closed m-manifolds equipped with a homotopy equivalence to M. We construct a highly connected map from S(M) to a concoction of algebraic L-theory and algebraic K-theory spaces associated with M. The construction refines the well-known surgery theoretic analysis of the block structure space of M in terms of L-theory.

We provide descriptions of the Whitehead groups, and the algebraic $K$-theory groups, of the fundamental group of a connected, oriented, closed $3$-manifold in terms of Whitehead groups of their finite subgroups and certain Nil-groups. The main tools we use are: the K-theoretic Farrell-Jones isomorphism conjecture, the construction of models for the universal space for the family of virtually cyclic subgroups in 3-manifold groups, and both the prime and JSJ-decompositions together with the well-known geometrization theorem.
In this paper, we prove various results on the topology of the Grassmannian of oriented 3-planes in Euclidean 6-space and compute its cohomology ring. We give self-contained proofs. These spaces come up when studying submanifolds of manifolds with calibrated geometries. We collect these results here for the sake of completeness. As applications of our algebraic topological study we present some results on special Lagrangian-free embeddings of surfaces and 3-manifolds into the Euclidean 4 and 6-space.
This is a survey paper on spaces of automorphisms of manifolds and spaces of manifolds in a fixed homotopy type. It describes the main theorems of traditional surgery theory, but also the main theorems of pseudoisotopy theory, alias concordance theory, Waldhausen style. It culminates in (an outline of) a synthesis of these two theories, producing algebraic models, valid in a stable range, for spaces of manifolds in a fixed homotopy type. This is inspired by earlier work of Burghelea-Lashof and Hatcher. The algebraic models are a mix of algebraic L-theory and algebraic K-theory.
In this paper we construct a Lie algebra representation of the algebraic string bracket on negative cyclic cohomology of an associative algebra with appropriate duality. The results of the paper concern the topological structure of complete riemannian manifolds with cyclic holonomy groups and low-dimensional orientable complete flat manifolds. We also discuss related results such as the affine classification of orientable complete flat 4-manifolds, an algebraic criterion of an affine equivalence, the relationship between holonomy homomorphisms and some algebraic and geometric invariants.

How does one measure the failure of Hochschild homology to commute with colimits? Here I relate this question to a major open problem about dynamics in contact manifolds -- the assertion that Reeb orbits exist and are detected by symplectic homology.
