We formulate the general form of omega-Z-gamma vertex in the framework based on the hidden local symmetry (HLS), which arises from the gauge invariant terms for intrinsic parity-odd (IP-odd) part of the effective action. Those terms are given as the homogeneous part of the general solution (having free parameters) to the Wess-Zumino (WZ) anomaly equation and hence are not determined by the anomaly, in sharp contrast to the Harvey-Hill-Hill (HHH) action where the relevant vertex is claimed to be uniquely determined by the anomaly. We show that, even in the framework that HHH was based on, the omega-Z-gamma vertex is actually not determined by the anomaly but by the homogeneous (anomaly-free) part of the general solution to the WZ anomaly equation having free parameters in the same way as in the HLS formulation: The HHH action is just a particular choice of the free parameters in the general solution. We further show that the omega-Z-gamma vertex related to the neutrino (nu) - nucleon (N) scattering cross section sigma(nu N -> nu N (N')gamma) is determined not by the anomaly but by the anomaly-free part of the general solution having free parameters. Nevertheless we find that the cross section sigma(nu N -> nu N(N')gamma) is related through the Ward-Takahashi identity to Gamma(omega -> pi^0 gamma) which has the same parameter-dependence as that of sigma(nu N -> nu N(N')gamma) and hence the ratio sigma(nu N -> nu N(N')gamma)/Gamma(omega -> pi^0 gamma) is fixed independently of these free parameters. Other set of the free parameters of the general solution can be fixed to make the best fit of the omega -> pi^0 l^+ l^- process, which substantially differs from the HHH action. This gives a prediction of the cross section sigma(nu N -> nu N (N')gamma^*(l^+ l^-)) to be tested at nu-N collision experiments in the future.
The measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon provides a stringent test of the standard model and of any physics that lies beyond it. There is currently a deviation of $3.1σ$ between the standard model prediction for the muon's anomalous magnetic moment and its experimental value. We calculate the contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment in theories where the muon couples to a particle in a hidden sector (that is, uncharged under the standard model) and a connector (which has nontrivial standard model gauge and hidden sector quantum numbers).
Motivated by $-2 σ$ deviation from the Standard Model prediction for the forward--backward asymmetry of $Z \to b \bar{b}$ decay in the LEP data, we explore the anomalous couplings of $Z b \bar{b}$ vertex through the electroweak precision test extended by including $A_{FB}^b$. We introduce a new variable $ε'_b$ to measure the anomalous right-handed coupling in $Z b \bar{b}$ vertex. Implications of our analysis on the nonuniversal contact interactions are studied and the left-right model is also considered as a possible origin of the anomalous right-handed couplings.
The anomalous pseudoscalar-photon vertex is studied in real time in and out of equilibrium in a constituent quark model. The goal is to understand the in-medium modifications of this vertex, exploring the possibility of enhanced isospin breaking by electromagnetic effects as well as the formation of neutral pion condensates in a rapid chiral phase transition in peripheral, ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions. In equilibrium the effective vertex is afflicted by infrared and collinear singularities that require hard thermal loop (HTL) and width corrections of the quark propagator. The resumme…
We discuss the structure of the non-perturbative fermion-boson vertex in quenched QED. We show that it is possible to construct a vertex which not only ensures that the fermion propagator is multiplicatively renormalizable, obeys the appropriate Ward-Takahashi identity, reproduces perturbation theory for weak couplings and guarantees that the critical coupling at which the mass is dynamically generated is gauge independent but also makes sure that the value for the anomalous dimension for the mass function is strictly 1, as Holdom and Mahanta have proposed.
The potential of LC+HERA based gamma-p collider to probe WW-gamma vertex is presented through the discussion of sensitivity to anomalous couplings and p_{T} distribution of the final quark. The limits of -0.16<(kappa-1)<0.14, -0.30<lambda<0.30, at 95% C.L. can be reached with integrated luminosity 100pb^{-1} and they are competitive to projected future limits from other colliders. The results are compared with corresponding ep collider using Weizsacker-Williams Approximation.
We obtain limits on the anomalous coupling $HZγ$ through data published by the L3 Collaboration on the process $e^+e^-\to τ^+τ^- γ$. Our analysis leads to bounds on this coupling of order $10^{-2}$, for an intermediate mass Higgs boson $115 < M_H < 145$ $GeV$, two orders of magnitude above the Standard Model prediction.
The potential of LC+HERAp based Gamma-p collider to probe WW-Gamma vertex is presented through the discussion of sensitivity to anomalous couplings and P_T distribution of the final quark. The limits of -0.04<Δκ<0.04 and -0.11<λ<0.11 at 95% C.L. can be reached with integrated luminosity 200(1/pb). The limit for Δκis comparable to one which is expected from LHC. The bounds are also obtained from corresponding ep collider using Weizsacker-Williams Approximation to compare with real photons.
We discuss the vertex function of two vector and one axial-vector operators in the soft-wall holographic model of QCD. When one of the two vector currents represents an on-shell soft photon, such a vertex is described by two structure functions $w_L$ and $w_T$, which are usually calculated through triangular loop diagrams. We evaluate these functions in the soft-wall model of holographic QCD (HQCD) and compare the outcome to the QCD findings.
We show that isospin/SU(3) breaking terms can be introduced to the anomalous VVP coupling in the hidden local symmetry scheme without changing Wess-Zumino-Witten term in the low-energy limit. We make the analysis for anomalous processes of 2-body and 3-body decays; radiative vector meson decays(V \to Pγ), conversion decays of photon into a lepton pair(V \to P l^+ l^-) and hadronic anomalous decays(V \to PPP). The predictions successfully reproduce all experimental data of anomalous decays. In particular, we predict the decay widths of ρ^0 \to π^0 γand ϕ\to η' γas 101 \pm 9 keV and 0.508 \pm 0.…
We investigate the processes $e^+e^-$$\to$$γJ/ψϕ$, $γJ/ψω$ and $π^0 J/ψη$ to search for the charmnium-like states with hidden $s\bar{s}$, such as $Y(4140)$, $Y(4274)$, $X(4350)$ and $X(3915)$. These processes will receive contributions from the charmed-strange meson rescatterings. When the center-of-mass energies of the $e^+e^-$ scatterings are taken around the $D_{s0}(2317)D_s^{*}$, $D_{s1}(2460)D_s$ or $D_{s1}(2460)D_s^{*}$ threshold, the anomalous triangle singularities can be present in the rescattering amplitudes, which implies a non-resonance explanation about the resonance-like structur…
We obtain analytic expressions for the energy and polar-angle double differential distributions of a secondary lepton l+ (l-) arising from the decay of t (tbar) in e+e- -> t tbar with an anomalous tbW decay vertex. We also obtain analytic expressions for the various differential cross sections with the lepton energy integrated over. In this case, we find that the angular distributions of the secondary lepton do not depend on the anomalous coupling in the decay, regardless of possible anomalous couplings occurring in the production amplitude for e+e- -> t tbar. Our study includes the effect of …
Separation of left-handed and anomalous right-handed vector operators contributions into the Wtb vertex for single and double resonant top quark production processes using a neural network
The latest and most precise top quark measurements at the LHC and Tevatron are used to establish new limits on the $Wtb$ vertex. Recent results on the measurements of the $W$-boson helicity fractions and single top quark production cross section are combined in order to establish new limits at 95% CL (confidence level). The allowed regions for these limits are presented, for the first time, in three-dimensional graphics, for both real and imaginary components of the different anomalous couplings, providing a new perspective on the impact of the combination of different physics observables. The…
In this article, the prospects for studying the tensor structure of the HZZ vertex with the LHC experiments are presented. The structure of tensor couplings in Higgs di-boson decays is investigated by measuring the asymmetries and by studing the shapes of the final state angular distributions. The expected background contributions, detector resolution, and trigger and selection efficiencies are taken into account. The potential of the LHC experiments to discover sizeable non-Standard Model contributions to the HZZ vertex with $300\;{\rm fb}^{-1}$ and $3000\;{\rm fb}^{-1}$ is demonstrated.
The conformal anomaly in curved spacetime generates a nontrivial anomalous vertex, given by the three-point correlation function $TTT$ of the energy-momentum tensor $T^{μν}$. We show that a temperature inhomogeneity in a gas of charged massless particles generates, via the $TTT$ vertex, a pressure anisotropy with respect to the axis of the temperature variation. This very particular signature may provide an experimental access to the elusive gravitational coefficient $b$ which determines the anomaly contribution of the Weyl tensor to the trace of the energy-momentum tensor in curved spacetime.…
We computed the contribution of the Compton and Bremsstrahlung processes with a hidden light $U(1)_D$ neutral boson $γ_D$ to the white dwarf G117-B15A anomalous cooling rate, as well as the white dwarf luminosity functions (WDLF). We demonstrated that for a light mass of hidden photon ($m_{γ_D} \ll$ a few keV), compatible results are obtained for the recent Sloan Digital Sky Survey and the SuperCOSMOS Sky Survey observation, but the stringent limits would be imposed on the kinetic mixing $ε$. We performed $χ^2$-tests to acquire a quantitative assessment on the WDLF data in the context of our m…
I consider the three-point function of two vector and one axial-vector currents. In the kinematic configuration in which one of the two vector currents corresponds to an on-shell soft photon, such a vertex is described in QCD by two functions, $w_L$ and $w_T$. After reviewing the properties of these functions in QCD, I describe the result obtained using the soft-wall holographic model of QCD with the addition of the Chern-Simons term and I compare it with the QCD outcome. I also discuss a relation, proposed by Son and Yamamoto, that connects $w_L$ and $w_T$ to the two-point functions $Π_{VV}$ …
We consider the vertex function of two vector and one axial-vector currents using the soft-wall holographic model of QCD with the Chern-Simons term. Two structure functions $w_L$ and $w_T$ describe such a vertex in the special case in which one of the two vector currents corresponds to an on-shell soft photon. We briefly review the QCD results for these functions, obtained from triangular loop diagrams with quarks having mass $m_q=0$ or $m_q \neq 0$, we compute $w_L$ and $w_T$ in the soft-wall model and compare the outcome to the QCD findings. We also calculate and discuss the two-point $Π_{VV…
Within the context of $N=1$ supersymmetric heterotic $M$-theory, we present a "freeze-in" mechanism for producing dark matter via a "moduli portal" between the observable and hidden sectors. It is assumed that the observable sector consists of the MSSM or some physically acceptable extension of it, while the hidden sector is chosen so as to satisfy all physical and mathematical constraints. Dark matter production processes are examined for two fundamental types of hidden sectors; those whose gauge bundle structure group contains an anomalous $U(1)$ and those whose structure group is non-Abelia…
New physics interactions can affect the strength and structure of the $tbW$ vertex. We investigate the magnitudes and phases of "anomalous" contributions to this vertex in a two-Higgs doublet and the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model, and in a top-color assisted technicolor (TC2) model. While the magnitudes of the anomalous couplings remain below 1 percent in the first two models, TC2 interactions can reduce the left-chiral coupling $f_L$ by several percent.
We perform an exclusive study of the anomalous $Wtb$ interaction in the context of LHC. The limits on $Wtb$ anomalous couplings have been estimated via the measurements of the top-quark decay width and cross-section as well as production asymmetries in case the CP is violated. Our investigations reveal that the upper bounds on $(|C_L|, |C_R|)$ would be of about (1.82, 0.03) $\times 10^{-4}$ at $2.5 σ$ C.L., for the already collected data at the LHC with $\sqrt{S} = 13$ TeV for an integrated luminosity of 139 fb$^{-1}$. The corresponding limits for future hadron colliders, namely, High Luminosi…
We examine the sensitivity of $e γ$ colliders (based on $e^+ e^-$ linear colliders of c.m. energy 500 GeV) to the anomalous couplings of the Higgs to W-bosons via the process $e^- γ\longrightarrow νW H$. This has the advantage over $e^+ e^-$ collider in being able to dissociate WWH vertex from ZZH. We are able to construct several dynamical variables which may be used to constrain vrious couplings in the WWH vertex.
A high energy ep collider, such as the proposed LHeC, possesses the unique facility of permitting direct measurement of the HWW coupling without contamination from the HZZ coupling. At such a machine, the fusion of two W bosons through the HWW vertex would give rise to typical charged current (CC) events accompanied by a Higgs boson. We demonstrate that azimuthal angle correlations between the observable CC final states could then be a sensitive probe of the nature of the HWW vertex and hence of the CP properties of the Higgs boson.
At a high energy $ep$ collider, such as the Large Hadron-Electron Collider (LHeC) which is being planned at CERN, one can access the $WWγ$ vertex exclusively in charged current events with a radiated photon, with no interference from the $WWZ$ vertex. We find that the azimuthal angle between the jet and the missing momentum in each charged current event is a sensitive probe of anomalous $WWγ$ couplings, and show that for quite reasonable values of integrated luminosity, the LHeC can extend the discovery reach for these couplings beyond all present experimental bounds.
We investigate use of transverse beam polarization in probing anomalous coupling of a Higgs boson to a pair of vector bosons, at the International Linear Collider (ILC). We consider the most general form of VVH (V = W/Z) vertex consistent with Lorentz invariance and investigate its effects on the process e+ e- --> f bar{f} H, f being a light fermion. Constructing observables with definite CP and naive time reversal (tilde T) transformation properties, we find that transverse beam polarization helps us to improve on the sensitivity of one part of the anomalous ZZH coupling that is odd under CP.…
A method to simulate anomalous fermion-boson interactions in Wtb vertex is presented with a minimal set of simulated samples of single top quark events at the LHC energies. In proposed method additional auxiliary vector fields corresponding to the Standard Model gauge fields are implemented for each type of the anomalous vertex structure. The method allows to simulate a manifestation of anomalous gauge couplings in two approaches used in experimental analyses either keeping only the linear order contributions in the anomalous couplings or keeping all contributions in numerators and denominator…
The decays omega -> 2pi^+ 2pi^- pi^0 and omega -> pi^+ pi^- 3pi^0 are reconsidered in the hidden local symmetry approach (HLS) added with the anomalous terms. The decay amplitudes are analyzed in detail, paying the special attention to the Adler condition of vanishing the whole amplitude at vanishing momentum of any final pion. Combining the Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka (OZI) rule applied to the five pion final state, with the Adler condition, we calculate also the phi -> 2pi^+ 2pi^-pi^0 and phi -> pi^+ pi^- 3pi^0 decay amplitudes. The partial widths of the above decays are evaluated, and the excitation…

The rate and corresponding gluon jet energy distribution for the process $e^+e^- \to t\bar tg$ are sensitive to the presence of anomalous dipole-like couplings of the top to the photon and $Z$ at the production vertex. For sizeable anomalous couplings of this type substantial deviations from the expectations of the Standard Model are likely. We explore the capability of the NLC to discover or place bounds on these types of top quark couplings. The resulting constraints are found to be quite complementary to those which arise from direct probes of the top quark production vertex. [To appear in …
The potential of LHC for investigation of the $W$-$t$-$b$ vertex through the $tW$ channel of single top quark production is studied. Unlike the other two single top quark production processes ($t-$channel and $s-$channel), the $tW$ channel provides the possibility to study the $Wtb$ vertex without receiving contamination from FCNC. This study has been done at parton level but is involved the separation of signal from backgrounds when both $W$-bosons decay to leptons. In this study $\mathcal{CP}$ is assumed to be conserved. The 68% C.L. bounds on the non-Standard Model couplings are estimated.
We study the prospects of testing the $WWγ$ vertex in $e^- p\toνγX$ and $e^+ p\toνγX$ at HERA and LEP/LHC. Destructive interference effects between the Standard Model and the anomalous contributions to the amplitude severely limit the sensitivity of both processes to non-standard $WWγ$ couplings. Sensitivity limits for the anomalous $WWγ$ couplings $κ$ and $λ$ at HERA and LEP/LHC are derived, taking into account experimental cuts and uncertainties, and the form factor behaviour of nonstandard couplings. These limits are found to be significantly weaker than those which can be expected from oth…
The potential of ep collision to prospect for anomalous Wtb vertex is discussed from the single top quark production process $ep\to t\barν+X$ for TESLA+HERAp and CLIC+LHC energies. Sensitivities to anomalous couplings $F_{2L}$ and $F_{2R}$, in the case of CLIC+LHC, are shown to be comparable with LHC.
The anomalous quartic neutral couplings of the $γγγγ$ vertex in a polarized light-by-light scattering of the Compton backscattered photons at the CLIC are examined. Both differential and total cross sections are calculated for $e^+e^-$ collision energies 1500 GeV and 3000 GeV. The helicity of the initial electron beams is taken to be $\pm\,0.8$. The unpolarized and SM cross sections for the same values of helicities are also estimated. The 95\% C.L. exclusion limits on two anomalous photon couplings $ζ_1$ and $ζ_2$ are calculated. The best bounds on these couplings are found to be $6.85 \times…
We present a workable model for the fermion-photon vertex, which is expressed solely in terms of functions that appear in the fermion propagator and independent of the angle between the relative momenta, and does not explicitly depend on the covariant-gauge parameter. It nevertheless produces a critical coupling for dynamical chiral symmetry breaking that is practically independent of the covariant-gauge parameter and an anomalous magnetic moment distribution for the dressed fermion that agrees in important respects with realistic numerical solutions of the inhomogeneous vector Bethe-Salpeter …
We present a new, model independent method for extracting bounds for the anomalous $γWW$ couplings from hadron collider experiments. At the partonic level we introduce a set of three observables which are constructed from the unpolarized differential cross-section for the process $d\bar{u}\to W^{-}γ$ by appropriate convolution with a set of simple polynomials depending only on the center-of-mass angle. One of these observables allows for the direct determination of the anomalous coupling usually denoted by $Δκ$, without any simplifying assumptions, and without relying on the presence of a radi…
In the framework of renormalon consideration, a role of the anomalous dependence of gluon propagator on the scale $μ$ is shown for a large number of quark flavours as well as in the nonabelian theory, where the parameter of the "running" coupling constant evolution has a hidden dependence on the scale. A phenomenological matching between the modified renormalon and the static quark potential is described to fix the renormalon scales.
We study the various existing implementations of SU(3) breaking in the Hidden Local Symmetry model for the low energy hadronic sector following a mechanism originally proposed by Bando, Kugo and Yamawaki (BKY). We pay particular attention to hermiticity and current conservation. Following this, we present a new method for including symmetry breaking effects which preserves the BKY mas s relation among vector mesons. Symmetry breaking (SB) necessarily requires a transformation of the pseudoscalar fields, which, following BKY, we refer to a s field renormalization. We examine the consequences of…
This paper reports the tenth-order QED contribution to the g-2 of electron and muon from two gauge-invariant sets, Set I(g) and Set I(h). In the case of electron g-2 Set I(g) consists of 9 Feynman diagrams which have a 4th-order vacuum-polarization loop containing another 4th-order vacuum-polarization loop. Set I(h) consists of 30 Feynman diagrams which have a proper 6th-order vacuum-polarization loop containing a second-order vacuum-polarization loop. The results of numerical integration, including mass-dependent terms containing one closed loop of muon, are 0.028 597 (4) (alpha/pi)^5 for Set…
We study gauge theories where quasi-hidden sectors are added to the MSSM for the sake of string consistency conditions which would otherwise not be satisfied. We focus on quiver gauge theories motivated by weakly coupled type II orientifold compactifications. Model independent features in this class include an anomalous U(1)_V symmetry which protects messenger masses and has strong consequences for superpotential couplings, a rich phenomenology of heavy and light Z' bosons, and axionic couplings required for anomaly cancellation via the Green-Schwarz mechanism. We discuss possibilities for dar…
We extend a previous computation of the TJJ correlator, involving the energy-momentum tensor of an abelian gauge theory and two vector currents, to the case of mixed axial-vector/vector currents. The study is performed in analogy to the case of the $AVV$ vertex for the chiral anomaly. We derive the general structure of the anomalous Ward identities and provide explicit tests of their consistency using Dimensional Reduction. Mixed massive correlators of the form $TJ_V J_A$ are shown to vanish both by Ward identities and by C-invariance. The result is characterized by the appearance of massless …
In the case of massless current quarks we find that the breaking of chiral symmetry usually triggers the generation of an anomalous magnetic moment for the quarks. We show that the kernel of the Ward identity for the vector vertex yields an important contribution. We compute the anomalous magnetic moment in several quark models. The results show that it is hard to escape a measurable anomalous magnetic moment for the quarks in the case of spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking.
We propose two-loop neutrino mass model with gauged hidden $U(1)$ symmetry, and discuss a Majorana type of dark matter candidate that has semi-annihilation processes in the relic density as well as lepton flavor violations and muon anomalous magnetic moment. Also, we demonstrate global analysis to satisfy neutrino oscillation data, lepton flavor violations, and relic density of dark matter candidate and show that semi-annihilation modes play a crucial role in finding observed relic density.
We analyze the role played by anomaly poles in an anomalous gauge theory by discussing their signature in the corresponding off-shell effective action. The origin of these contributions, in the most general kinematical case, is elucidated by performing a complete analysis of the anomaly vertex at perturbative level. We use two independent (but equivalent) representations: the Rosenberg representation and the longitudinal/transverse (L/T) parameterization, used in recent studies of $g-2$ of the muon and in the proof of non-renormalization theorems of the anomaly vertex. The poles extracted from…
We discuss the magnetic responses of vector meson masses based on the hidden local symmetry (HLS) model in constant magnetic field, described by the lightest two-flavor system including the pion, rho and omega mesons in the spectrum. The effective masses influenced under the magnetic field are evaluated in a way of the derivative/chiral expansion established in the HLS model. At the leading order O(p^2) the g-factor of the charged rho meson is fixed to be 2, implying that the rho meson at this order is treated just like a point-like spin-1 particle. Beyond the leading order, one finds anomalou…
We have examined $HZγ$ vertex to obtain the limits on anomalous $a_γ$, $b_γ$ and $\tilde b_γ$ couplings in a model independent way through the $γp$ collisions via the process $pp\to p γp\to pHqX$. The sensitivities to the anomalous couplings can be obtained as $|b_γ|$, $|\tilde{b}_γ|\sim 10^{-3}$ for the integrated luminosity of $L_{int}=100 ~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ at the LHC with $\sqrt{s}=14$ TeV.
The precision measurement of the $WWγ$ vertex at the future Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC) at CERN is discussed in this paper. We propose to measure this vertex in the $e^{-} p\to e^{-}W^{\pm}j$ channel as a complement to the conventional charged current $ν_{e}γj$ channel. In addition to the cross section measurement, $χ^{2}$ method studies of angular variables provide powerful tools to probe the anomalous structure of triple gauge boson couplings. We study the distribution of the well-known azimuthal angle between the final state forward electron and jet in this vector-boson fusion (VB…
Selection rules arising from accidental or broken symmetries may be sufficiently obscure that their agency is hidden, leading to the appearance of "magic zeroes" -- quantities that are suppressed without apparent recourse to a symmetry explanation. Magic zeroes and their corresponding hidden symmetries may shed new light on parametric hierarchies in the Standard Model and beyond. We identify the hidden symmetry responsible for a recently-discovered magic zero, the vanishing of the putative leading contribution to the anomalous dipole moments of the muon upon integrating out weak doublet and si…
We propose a model of dark sector described by gauged hidden $U(1)_H$ symmetry in which neutrino masses are generated at one-loop level and axion is induced by assigning Peccei-Quinn charge to fermions in dark sector relevantly. Then our scenario connects exotic fermion mass generation, neutrino mass matrix and axion through scalar fields associated with $U(1)_H$ and Peccei-Quinn symmetry breaking. We investigate neutrino mass formula, lepton flavor violation, anomalous magnetic moment of muon, dark matter relic density and axion couplings, which are originated from interactions among our dark…
We propose a radiative seesaw model with a hidden $U(1)$ gauge symmetry. In order to have anomaly cancellations, we need to introduce several new fermions that contribute to muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment $(g-2)_μ$ as well as explain the neutrino oscillation data. We also consider a fermionic dark matter candidate that correlates with $(g-2)_μ$ and neutrino mass matrix at the same time. We show allowed regions in our input parameters satisfying several constraints. Finally, we also briefly discuss the possibility of the resolution of the Hubble tension via neutrino self-interactions med…
We calculate the squared matrix element for the process e+ e- --> tau+ tau- gamma allowing for anomalous magnetic and electric dipole moments at the tau tau gamma vertex. No interferences are neglected and no approximations of light fermion masses are made. We show that anomalous moments affect not only the cross section, but also the shape of the photon energy and angular distributions. We also demonstrate that in the case of the anomalous magnetic dipole moment, the contribution from interference involving Standard Model and anomalous amplitudes is significant compared to the contribution fr…
The recent CLEO results on on radiative $b$-quark decays are used to derive constraints on anomalous $WWγ$ couplings. These constraints are compared with expectations from $p\bar p\rightarrow e^\pm p\llap/_Tγ+X$ at the Tevatron. The usefulness of exclusive radiative $B$ meson decay channels in probing the $WWγ$ vertex is largely limited by present theoretical uncertainties in the calculation of hadronic matrix elements.
``Anomalous'' U(1) gauge symmetry with Green-Schwarz anomaly cancellation mechanism is discussed in the orbifold construction of four-dimensional heterotic string models. Some conditions are given as criteria to have ``anomalous'' U(1) in orbifold string models. In particular, ``anomalous'' U(1) is absent if the massless twisted matter has no mixing between visible and hidden sectors or if a certain type of discrete symmetries are found. We then give a general procedure for classifying orbifold models with ``anomalous'' U(1) and for identifying the ``anomalous'' U(1) basis. We illustrate our p…
We estimate model-independent bounds that could be obtained on the anomalous $ZZH$ vertex using polarization parameters of the $Z$ boson produced in the Higgstrahlung process at the LHC. We calculate the eight independent polarization parameters from the spin density matrix elements of the $Z$, which can probe underlying new physics contributions to $ZH$ production. By using the approach that connects these polarization observables to the coefficients in the angular distribution of the decay products of the $Z$, we estimate the limits on the anomalous $ZZH$ coupling that can be obtained at the…
We calculate distributions for tau+ tau- gamma production at LEP 1 taking into account a potentially existing anomalous magnetic moment a_tau of the tau lepton. The existing upper limits for |a_tau| are known from the dependence of the decay Z -> tau+ tau- gamma on (a_tau)^2 and are of the order of (1 - 5)%. We show that such limits are also sensitive to linear terms in a_tau, which are of equal importance at |a_tau| ~ (1 - 2)% and dominate below this value. Contributions from an electric dipole moment d_tau do not interfere with the electromagnetic vertex or with the anomalous magnetic moment…
We study photoproduction of rho mesons in a model of hidden local symmetry. The rho meson is introduced as a hidden gauge boson and a phenomenological rho meson-nucleon Lagrangian is constructed respecting chiral symmetry. It is shown that the sigma exchange interaction is needed for neutral rho meson photoproduction to reproduce the experimental cross sections. For charged rho meson photoproduction, the model takes into account the rho meson magnetic moments from the three-point vertex in the kinetic terms. We show that the magnetic moment of the charged rho meson has a significant effect on …
