We introduce the moduli of the supporting convexity and the supporting smoothness of a Banach space, which characterize the deviation of the unit sphere from an arbitrary supporting hyperplane. We show that the modulus of supporting smoothness, the Bana{ś} modulus, and the modulus of smoothness are all equivalent at zero, the modulus of supporting convexity is equivalent at zero to the modulus of convexity. We prove a Day--Nordlander type result for these moduli.
We introduce the notions of strong asymptotic uniform smoothness and convexity. We study smoothness and strict convexity of (the bidual) of Banach spaces in the presence of diameter 2 properties. We prove that the strong diameter 2 property prevents the bidual from being strictly convex and being smooth, and we initiate the investigation whether the same is true for the (local) diameter 2 property. We also give characterizations of the following property for a Banach space $X$: "For every slice $S$ of $B_X$ and every norm-one element $x$ in $S$, there is a point $y\in S$ in distance as close to 2 as we want." Spaces with this property are shown to have non-smooth bidual.
We introduce a suitable notion of asymptotic smoothness on infinite dimensional Banach spaces, and we prove that, under some structural restrictions on the space, the convex envelope of an asymptotically smooth function is asymptotically smooth. A Banach space X is superreflexive if each Banach space Y that is finitely representable in X is reflexive. In this paper we investigate some reflexivity-type properties of separable measurable Banach bundles over a $σ$-finite measure space. Our two main results are the following: - The fibers of a bundle are uniformly convex (with a common modulus of convexity) if and only if the space of its $L^p$-sections is uniformly convex for every $p\in(1,\infty)$. - The fibers of a bundle are reflexive if and only if the space of its $L^p$-sections is reflexive. These results generalise the well-known corresponding ones for Lebesgue-Bochner spaces.

We are concerned about improvements of the modulus of convexity by renormings of a super-reflexive Banach space. Non-convex functions that yet satisfy a condition of uniform convexity for non-close points can arise in discrete constructions. We prove that this sort of discrete uniform convexity is inherited by the convex envelope, which is the key to obtain other remarkable properties such as the coercivity. We introduce stronger versions of the usual notions of martingale type p <= 2 and cotype q >= 2 of a Banach space X and show that these concepts are equivalent to uniform p-smoothness and q-convexity, respectively. All these are metric concepts, so they depend on the particular norm in X. Modifying the moduli of supporting convexity and supporting smoothness, we introduce new moduli for Banach spaces which occur, e.g., as lengths of catheti of right-angled triangles (defined via so-called quasi-orthogonality).
