We consider Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton (EMD) Lagrangian supplemented by double Liouville potentials to enrich our system and investigate the resulting dynamics. The general solution provides us alternative structures induced on the 3-dimensional domain wall (DW) moving in the 4-dimensional bulk. In particular, the local maximum in the potential suggests a maximum bounce (or onset for a contraction phase) of the 3-dimensional Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) universe on the DW. Depending on the choice of parameters we plot various cases of physical interest.
We present solution generating methods which allow to construct exact static solutions to the equations of four-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton gravity starting with arbitrary static solutions to the pure vacuum Einstein equations, Einstein-dilaton or Einstein-Maxwell equations.
Adopting a simple ansatz, we find exact solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton equations, which stand for the multi-black hole configuration with maximal charge in a cosmological metric and dilaton field background driven by a cosmological term.
Classes of exact static solutions in four-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton gravity are found. Besides of the well-known solutions previously found in the literature, new solutions are presented. It's shown that spherically symmetric solutions, except the case of charged dilaton black hole, represent globally naked strong curvature singularities.
We construct new classes of exact cosmological solutions to five dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with two coupling constants for the dilaton-Maxwell term and dilaton-cosmological constant term. All the solutions are non-stationary and the solutions that both coupling constants are non-zero are almost regular everywhere. The size of spatial section of the asymptotic metric shrinks to zero at early time and increases to infinitely large at very late time. The cosmological constant depends on the dilaton coupling constant and can take positive, zero or negative values.
We consider Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton theory in $(2+1)$-dimensions where the coupling between the scalar field and the Maxwell invariant is the dilatonic coupling $f(ϕ) = \exp (-2αϕ)$ and obtain novel exact rotating black hole solutions. The dilatonic parameter $α$ impacts the metric function, affecting the rotating properties of the black hole, its mass and also its thermodynamics. Calculating the entropy we find that it is always positive and the dilatonic black holes may have higher entropy than the BTZ black hole. Depending on the parameters, the dilatonic BTZ-like black hole may be thermod…
The inverse scattering problem method application to construction of exact solution for Maxwell dilaton gravity system ia considered. By use of Belinsky and Zakharov L - A pair the solution of the theory is constructed. The rotating Kerr - like configuration with NUT - parameter is obtained.
We present the study of exact inhomogeneous cosmological solutions to a four-dimensional low energy limit of string theory containing non-minimal interacting electromagnetic, dilaton and axion fields. We analyze Einstein-Rosen solutions of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton-axion equations and show, by explicitly taken the asymptotic limits, that they have asymptotically velocity-term dominated (AVTD) singularities.
In this paper, we extend the study on the nonlinear power-law Maxwell field to dilaton gravity. We introduce the $(n+1)$-dimensional action in which gravity is coupled to a dilaton and power-law nonlinear Maxwell field, and obtain the field equations by varying the action. We construct a new class of higher dimensional topological black hole solutions of Einstein-dilaton theory coupled to a power-law nonlinear Maxwell field and investigate the effects of the nonlinearity of the Maxwell source as well as the dilaton field on the properties of the spacetime. Interestingly enough, we find that th…
We derive the energy fluxes radiated by compact binary systems, including "hairy" black holes, in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theories, for circular orbits and at quadrupolar order. This enables to include in their resummed effective-one-body (EOB) dynamics the effect of the radiation reaction force at the origin of their inspiral and merger. We also exhibit typical examples of the resulting tensor and scalar waveforms.
We present a new solution in 5D Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity describing an equilibrium configuration of extremal rotating black holes with lens space horizon topologies. The basic properties of the solution are investigated and the basic physical quantities are calculated. It is shown that the black hole horizons are superconducting in the sense that they expel the magnetic flux lines.
Three different classes of static solutions of the Einstein--Maxwell equations non--minimally coupled to a dilaton field are presented. The solutions are given in general in terms of two arbitrary harmonic functions and involve among others an arbitrary parameter which determines their applicability as charged black holes, dilaton black holes or strings. Most of the known solutions are contained as special cases and can be non--trivially generalized in different ways.
Using the Schwarzschild coordinate frame for a static cyclic symmetric metric in 2 + 1 Einstein gravity coupled to a electric Maxwell field and a dilaton logarithmically depending on the radial coordinate in the presence of an exponential potential the general solution of the Einstein Maxwell dilaton equations is derived and it is identified with the Chan Mann charged dilaton solution. Via a general SL(2;R) transformation, applied on the obtained charged dilaton metric, a family of stationary dilaton solutions has been generated; these solutions possess five parameters: dilaton and cosmologica…
We investigate the spherical accretion process for general static spherically symmetric fluids. We analyze this process by using the general metric ansatz for spherically symmetric black holes. We specialize to the case of normal and phantom isothermal fluids and investigate their accretion process onto normal and phantom Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton black holes. Backreaction effects are discussed.
We use the harmonic maps ansatz to find exact solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton-Axion (EMDA) equations. The solutions are harmonic maps invariant to the symplectic real group in four dimensions $Sp(4,\Rreal)\sim O(5)$. We find solutions of the EMDA field equations for the one and two dimensional subspaces of the symplectic group. Specially, for illustration of the method, we find space-times that generalise the Schwarzschild solution with dilaton, axion and electromagnetic fields.
We consider the existence of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton plus fluid system for the case of stationary cylindrically symmetric spacetimes. An exact inhomogeneous $ ε$-order solution is found, where the parameter $ε$ parametrizes the non-minimally coupled electromagnetic field. Some its physical attributes are investigated and a connection with already known Gödel-type solution is given. It is shown that the found solution also survives in the string-inspired charged gravity framework. We find that a magnetic field has positive influence on the chronology violation unlike the dilaton influence.
We study the interaction of maximally-charged dilatonic black holes at low velocity. We compute the metric on moduli space for three extreme black holes under a simple constraint. The Hamiltonian of the multi-black hole system of $O(v^2)$ is also calculated for the $a=1$ and $a=1/\sqrt{3}$ cases, where $a$ is the dilaton coupling constant. The behavior of the system is discussed qualitatively.
In this article we study the geodesic motion of test particles and light in the Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton-Axion black hole spacetime. We derive the equations of motion and present their solutions in terms of the Weierstraß $\wp$-, $σ$- and $ζ$-functions. With the help of parametric diagrams and effective potentials we analyze the geodesic motion and give a list of all possible orbit types.
We show that the monopole scalar charge of black holes in Einstein--Maxwell--dilaton theory is proportional to the electric potential at the event horizon, with a proportionality factor given by (minus) the scalar coupling constant. We also show that the scalar charge, in the weak electric charge limit, does not depend on the black hole spin. This result can be very useful to circumvent spin degeneracy issues when testing the theory against gravitational waves observations.
We find new solutions to the five-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with cosmological constant where the dilaton field couples to the electromagnetic field as well as to the cosmological term with two different coupling constants. The five-dimensional spacetime is non-stationary and is a conformally regular spacetime, everywhere. Both the dilaton field and the electromagnetic field depends on time and two spatial directions. The cosmological constant takes positive, negative or zero value, depending on the value of coupling constant. We study the physical properties of the spacetime …
We compute the quasinormal frequencies for scalar perturbations of hairy black holes in four-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory assuming a non-trivial scalar potential for the dilaton field. We investigate the impact on the spectrum of the angular degree, the overtone number, the charges of the black hole as well as the magnitude of the scalar potential. All modes are found to be stable. Our numerical results are summarized in tables, and for better visualization, we show them graphically as well.
We describe a solution-generating technique that will map a static charged solution of the Einstein-Maxwell theory in four (or five) dimensions to a five-dimensional solution of the Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton theory. As examples of this technique first we show first how to construct the dilatonic version of the Reissner-Nordström solution in five dimensions and then we consider the more general case of the double black hole solutions and describe some of their properties. We found that in the general case the value of the conical singularities in between the black holes is affected by the dilato…
The recent birth of gravitational wave astronomy invites a new generation of precision tests of general relativity. Signatures of black hole (BH) mergers must be systematically explored in a wide spectrum of modified gravity theories. Here, we turn to one such theory in which the initial value problem for BH mergers is well posed, the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton system. We present conservative estimates for the merger parameters (final spins, quasinormal modes) based on techniques that have worked well for ordinary gravity mergers and utilize information extracted from test particle motion in the…
In this paper, we argue that one can calculate the weak deflection angle of light in the background of Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton-Axion black hole using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem. To support this, the optical geometry of the black hole with the Gibbons-Werner method are used to obtain the deflection angle of light in the weak field limits. Moreover, we investigate the effect of a plasma medium on deflection of light for a given black hole. Because of dilaton and axion are one of the candidate of the dark matter, it can give us a hint on observation of dark matter which is supported by the black h…
New solutions are derived in the $2+1$ gravity which is coupled to $|{\cal F}|^k$ type non-linear electric field in Maxwell Power theory with dilaton field. We obtain consistent solutions in general $k$ case. We also investigate the behavior of the metric function with the space-time singularity. Then, we found some black hole solutions when the space-time has a singular point at $r=0$. Addition, we derive the Brown-York mass when the space-time represents black hole.
The entropy spectrum of a spherically symmetric black hole was derived via the Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization rule in Majhi and Vagenas's work. Extending this work to charged and rotating black holes, we quantize the horizon area and the entropy of an Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton-Axion (EMDA) black hole via the Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization rule and the adiabatic invariance. The result shows the area spectrum and the entropy spectrum are respectively equally spaced and independent on the parameters of the black hole.
Starting from the static, spherically symmetric black hole solutions in massless Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton (EMD) theories, we build a "skeleton" action, that is, we phenomenologically replace black holes by an appropriate effective point particle action, which is well suited to the formal treatment of the many-body problem in EMD theories. We find that, depending crucially on the value of their scalar cosmological environment, black holes can undergo steep "scalarization" transitions, inducing large deviations to the general relativistic two-body dynamics, as shown, for example, when computing …
The functional potential formalism is used to analyze stationary axisymmetric spaces in the Einstein-Maxwell-Dilaton theory. Performing a Legendre transformation, a ``Hamiltonian''is obtained, which allows to rewrite the dynamical equations in terms of three complex functions only. Using an ansatz resembling the one used by the harmonic maps ansatz, we express these three functions in terms of the harmonic parameters, studying the cases where these parameters are real, and when they are complex. For each case, the set of equations in terms of these harmonic parameters is derived, and several c…
The effects of power-law Maxwell field on the Van der Waals like phase transition of higher-dimensional dilaton black holes are probed in detail. It is shown that the Smarr relation gains corrections due to the effects of both the power-law Maxwell field and the dilaton field while thermodynamic volume is exactly the same as that of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton black holes. We successfully derive the analytic solutions of critical point and carry out some check to ensure that these critical quantities are positive. It is shown that the constraint on the parameters turns out to be $0<α^2<1$, which …
Null geodesics of normal and phantom Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton black holes are determined analytically by the Weierstrass elliptic functions. The black hole parameters other than the mass enter, with the appropriate signs, the formula for the angle of deflection to the second order in the inverse of the impact parameter allowing for the identification of the nature of matter (phantom or normal). Such identification is also possible via the time delay formula and observation of relativistic images. Scattering experiencesmay favor black holes of Einstein-anti-Maxwell-dilatonic theory for their hi…
We study symmetry properties of the Einstein-Maxwell theory nonminimaly coupled to the dilaton field. We consider a static case with pure electric (magnetic) Maxwell field and show that the resulting system becomes a nonlinear sigma-model wich possesses a chiral representation. We construct the corresponding chiral matrix and establish a representation which is related to the pair of Ernst-like potentials. These potentials are used for separation of the symmetry group into the gauge and nongauge (charging) sectors. New variables, which linearize the action of charging symmetries, are also esta…
In this paper, we study the deflection of light by a class of charged wormholes within the context of the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. The primordial wormholes are predicted to exist in the early universe, where inflation driven by the dilaton field. We perform our analysis through optical geometry using the Gibbons-Werner method (GW), by adopting the Gauss-Bonnet theorem and the standard geodesics approach. We report an interesting result for the deflection angle in leading-order terms--namely, the deflection angle increases due to the electric charge $Q$ and the magnetic charge $P$, wher…
We study the process of fully nonlinear dynamical scalarization starting from a charged black hole or a naked singularity in asymptotically flat spacetime in the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. Initially the dilaton field is negligible compared to the gravitational and the Maxwell field. Then the dilaton field experiences an immediate growth, later it oscillates with damping amplitude and finally settles down to a finite value. For a hairy black hole develops from an original Reissner-Nordström black hole, since the dilaton oscillation and decay are almost independent of the coupling paramete…
The study of shadow is quite prominent nowadays because of the ongoing Event Horizon Telescope\footnote{https://eventhorizontelescope.org/} observations. We construct the shadow images of charged wormholes in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton (EMD) theory. The spacetime metric of the charged wormholes contains three charges: magnetic charge $P$, electric charge $Q$, and dilaton charge $Σ$. We evaluate the photon geodesics around the charged wormholes. We also calculate the effective potential and discuss its behavior with angular momentum $L$ and different values of charges $P$, $Q$, and $Σ$. A study o…
We construct new classes of cosmological solution to the five dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory, that are non-stationary and almost conformally regular everywhere. The base geometry for the solutions is the four-dimensional Bianchi type IX geometry. In the theory, the dilaton field is coupled to the electromagnetic field and the cosmological constant term, with two different coupling constants. We consider all possible solutions with different values of the coupling constants, where the cosmological constant takes any positive, negative or zero values. In the ansatzes for the metric,…
In the present paper we investigate the general problem of uniqueness of the stationary black solutions in 5D Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity with arbitrary dilaton coupling parameter containing the Einstein-Maxwell gravity as a particular case. We formulate and prove uniqueness theorems classifying the stationary black hole solutions in terms of their interval structure, electric and magnetic charges and the magnetic fluxes. The proofs are based on the nonpositivity of the Riemann curvature operator on the space of the potentials which imposes restrictions on the dilaton coupling parameter.
Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory is an interesting and well-motivated theoretical laboratory to explore the impact of new fundamental degrees of freedom in the context of testing the no-hair conjecture, due to the existence of hairy black hole solutions together with the propagation of scalar, vector and tensor modes. In this paper we compute the quasinormal mode spectrum of static and slowly rotating black holes for generic values of the dilaton coupling, within a weak electric charge approximation. Our results suggest that these spacetimes are stable for generic values of the dilaton coupling…
For the $n-1$ dimensional FRW domain wall universe induced by $n$ dimensional charged dilaton black hole, its movement formula in the bulk can be rewrite as the expansion or collapsing of domain wall. By analysing, we found that in this static AdS space, the cosmologic behaviour of domain wall is particularly single. Even more surprising, it exists an anomaly that the domain wall has a motion area outside of horizon, in which it cannot be explained by our classical theory.
The uniqueness theorem for static, spherically symmetric, asymptotically flat, higher dimensional phantom black holes, with non-degenerate event horizon , being the solutions of Einstein phantom/dilaton Maxwell/anti-Maxwell gravity systems is considered. Conformal positive energy theorem and conformal transformations authorize the crucial tools for exploiting the boundary conditions and conformal flatness.
The cosmic no hair conjecture is tested in the spherically symmetric Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton~(EMD) system with a positive cosmological constant $Λ$. Firstly, we analytically show that once gravitational collapse occurs in the massless dilaton case, the system of field equations breaks down inevitably in outer communicating regions or at the boundary provided that a future null infinity ${\cal I}^+$ exists. Next we find numerically the static black hole solutions in the massive dilaton case and investigate their properties for comparison with the massless case. It is shown that their Abbott-De…
We prove area inequalities for stable marginally outer trapped surfaces in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory. Our inspiration comes on the one hand from a corresponding upper bound for the area in terms of the charges obtained recently by Dain, Jaramillo and Reiris [1] in the pure Einstein-Maxwell case without symmetries, and on the other hand from Yazadjiev's inequality [2] in the axially symmetric Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton case. The common issue in these proofs and in the present one is a functional ${\mathscr W}$ of the matter fields for which the stability condition readily yields an {\it upp…
In this paper, we construct a new class of charged rotating dilaton black brane solutions, with complete set of rotation parameters, which is coupled to a nonlinear Maxwell field. The Lagrangian of the matter field has the form of the power-law Maxwell field. We study the causal structure of the spacetime and its physical properties in ample details. We also compute thermodynamic and conserved quantities of the spacetime such as the temperature, entropy, mass, charge, and angular momentum. We find a Smarr-formula for the mass and verify the validity of the first law of thermodynamics on the bl…
We consider the properties and dynamics of black holes within a family of alternative theories of gravity, namely Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton (EMD) theory. We analyze the dynamical evolution of individual black holes as well as the merger of binary black hole systems. We do this for a wide range of parameter values for the family of EMD theories, investigating, in the process, the stability of these black holes. We examine radiative degrees of freedom, explore the impact of the scalar field on the dynamics of merger and compare with other scalar-tensor theories. We argue that the dilaton can larg…
We study the phase space of the spherically symmetric solutions of Einstein-Maxwell-Gauss-Bonnet system nonminimally coupled to a scalar field and prove the existence of solutions with unusual asymptotics in addition to asymptotically flat ones. We also find new dyonic solutions of dilatonic Einstein-Maxwell theory.
We study the nonlinear evolution of the spherical symmetric black holes under a small neutral scalar field perturbation in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with coupling function $f(ϕ)=e^{-bϕ}$ in asymptotic anti-de Sitter spacetime. The non-minimal coupling between scalar and Maxwell fields allows the transmission of the energy from the Maxwell field to the scalar field, but also behaves as a repulsive force for the scalar. The scalar field oscillates with damping amplitude and converges to a final value by a power law. The irreducible mass of the black hole increases abruptly at initial times…
We prove uniqueness of static, asymptotically flat spacetimes with non-degenerate black holes for three special cases of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory: For the coupling ``$α= 1$'' (which is the low energy limit of string theory) on the one hand, and for vanishing magnetic or vanishing electric field (but arbitrary coupling) on the other hand. Our work generalizes in a natural, but non-trivial way the uniqueness result obtained by Masood-ul-Alam who requires both $α= 1$ and absence of magnetic fields, as well as relations between the mass and the charges. Moreover, we simplify Masood-ul-Alam'…
We show that the general framework proposed in arXiv:1410.0581 for the study of asymptotically flat vacuum black objects with $k+1$ equal magnitude angular momenta in $D\geq 5$ spacetime dimensions (with $0\leq k\leq \big[\frac{D-5}{2} \big]$) can be extended to the case of Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton (EMd) theory. This framework can describe black holes with spherical horizon topology, the simplest solutions corresponding to a class of electrically charged (dilatonic) Myers-Perry black holes. Balanced charged black objects with $ S^{n+1} \times S^{2k+1}$ horizon topology can also be studied (wit…
We presented the proof of the positive mass theorem for black holes in Einstein-Maxwell axion-dilaton gravity being the low-energy limit of the heterotic string theory. We show that the total mass of a spacetime containing a black hole is greater or equal to the square root of the sum of squares of the adequate dilaton-electric and dilaton-axion charges.
The uniqueness of static asymptotically flat photon sphere for static black hole solution in Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton theory with arbitrary coupling constant was proposed. Using the conformal positive energy theorem we show that the dilaton sphere subject to the non-extremality condition authorizes a cylinder over a topological sphere.
In the present paper we consider 5D spacetimes satisfying the Einstein-Maxwell-dilaton gravity equations which are $U(1)^2$ axisymmetric but otherwise highly dynamical. We derive inequalities between the area, the angular momenta, the electric charge and the magnetic fluxes for any smooth stably outer marginally trapped surface.
We prove the uniqueness theorem for stationary axisymmetric black hole solution in Einstein-Maxwell-axion-dilaton gravity being the low-energy limit of the heterotic string theory. We consider both non-degenerate and extremal Kerr-Sen black hole solutions.
In this paper we investigate the innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) of a spinning test particle moving in the rotating Maxwell-dilaton black hole spacetime. By using the Mathisson-Papapetrou-Dixon equations along with the Tulczyjew spin-supplementary condition, we find the equations of motion in the equatorial plane and, from the radial equation, it is obtained the effective potential for the description of the particle's motion. The obtained trajectories show that the ISCO radii for spinning particles moving in rotating charged backgrounds are always smaller than those obtained in the cor…
The uniqueness of static spherically symmetric traversable wormholes with two asymptotically flat ends, subject to the higher-dimensional solutions of Einstein-Maxwell-phantom dilaton field equations was proved. We considered the case of an arbitrary dilaton coupling constant. Conformal positive energy theorem plays the key role in the considerations.
Depending on five parameters, rotating counterparts of Einstein--Maxwell--dilaton black holes are derived. We discuss their physical and geometric properties and investigate their null and time-like geodesics including circular orbits. The Lense--Thirring effect is considered.
