For a smooth, projective family of homogeneous varieties defined over a number field, we show that if potential density holds for the rational points of the base, then it also holds for the total space. A conjecture of Campana and Peternell, known in dimension at most 4 and for certain higher dimensional cases, would then imply potential density for the rational points of smooth projective varieties over number fields whose tangent bundle is nef.
It is a well-known fact that families of minimal rational curves on rational homogeneous manifolds of Picard number one are uniform, in the sense that the tangent bundle to the manifold has the same splitting type on each curve of the family. In this note we prove that certain --stronger-- uniformity conditions on a family of minimal rational curves on a Fano manifold of Picard number one allow to prove that the manifold is homogeneous.
We provide an algorithm that takes as an input a given parametric family of homogeneous polynomials, which is invariant under the action of the general linear group, and an integer $d$. It outputs the ideal of that family intersected with the space of homogeneous polynomials of degree $d$. Our motivation comes from open problems, which ask to find equations for varieties of cubic and quartic symmetroids. The algorithm relies on a database of specific Young tableaux and highest weight polynomials. We provide the database and the implementation of the database construction algorithm. Moreover, w…
We rework the Mori-Mukai classification of Fano 3-folds, by describing each of the 105 families via biregular models as zero loci of general global sections of homogeneous vector bundles over products of Grassmannians.
We give the construction of a codimension 10 weighted homogeneous variety $wΣF_4(μ,u)$ corresponding to the exceptional Lie group $F_4$ by explicit computation of its graded ring structure. We give a formula for the Hilbert series of the generic weighted $wΣF_4(μ,u)$ in terms of representation theoretic data of $F_4$. We also construct some families of polarized 3-folds in codimension 10 whose general member is the weighted complete intersection of some $wΣF_4(μ,u)$.
We suggest a way to associate to each Lie algebra of type G2, D4, F4, E6, E7, E8 a family of polarized hyperkahler fourfolds, constructed as parametrizing certain families of cycles of hyperplane sections of certain homogeneous or quasi-homogeneous varieties. These cycles are modeled on the Legendrian varieties studied by Freudenthal in his geometric approach to the celebrated Tits-Freudenthal magic square of Lie algebras.
K{ü}chle classified the Fano fourfolds that can be obtained as zero loci of global sections of homogeneous vector bundles on Grassmannians. Surprisingly, his classification exhibits two families of fourfolds with the same discrete invariants. Kuznetsov asked whether these two types of fourfolds are deformation equivalent. We show that the answer is positive in a very strong sense, since the two families are in fact the same! This phenomenon happens in higher dimension as well.
We use representation theory to construct spaces of matrices of constant rank. These spaces are parametrized by the natural representation of the general linear group or the symplectic group. We present variants of this idea, with more complicated representations, and others with the orthogonal group. Our spaces of matrices correspond to vector bundles which are homogeneous but sometimes admit deformations to non-homogeneous vector bundles, showing that these spaces of matrices sometimes admit large families of deformations.
Let $ω=(-1+\sqrt{-3})/2$. For any lattice $P\subseteq \mathbb{Z}^n$, $\mathcal{P}=P+ωP$ is a subgroup of $\mathcal{O}_K^n$, where $\mathcal{O}_K=\mathbb{Z}[ω]\subseteq \mathbb{C}$. As $\mathbb{C}$ is naturally isomorphic to $\mathbb{R}^2$, $\mathcal{P}$ can be regarded as a lattice in $\mathbb{R}^{2n}$. Let $P$ be a multiplicative lattice (principal lattice or congruence lattice) introduced by Rosenbloom and Tsfasman. We concatenate a family of special codes with $t_{\mathfrak{P}}^\ell\cdot(P+ωP)$, where $t_{\mathfrak{P}}$ is the generator of a prime ideal $\mathfrak{P}$ of $\mathcal{O}_K$. Ap…
We consider a uniform $r$-bundle $E$ on a complex rational homogeneous space $X$ %over complex number field $\mathbb{C}$ and show that if $E$ is poly-uniform with respect to all the special families of lines and the rank $r$ is less than or equal to some number that depends only on $X$, then $E$ is either a direct sum of line bundles or $δ_i$-unstable for some $δ_i$. So we partially answer a problem posted by Muñoz-Occhetta-Solá Conde. In particular, if $X$ is a generalized Grassmannian $\mathcal{G}$ and the rank $r$ is less than or equal to some number that depends only on $X$, then $E$ split…
The number of closed billiard trajectories in a rational-angled polygon grows quadratically in the length. This paper gives an analogue on K3 surfaces, by considering special Lagrangian tori. The analogue of the angle of a billiard trajectory is a point on a twistor sphere, and the number of directions admitting a special Lagrangian torus fibration with volume bounded by $ V $ grows like $ V^{20} $ with a power-saving term. Bergeron--Matheus have explicitly estimated the exponent of the error term as $ {20-\frac{4}{697633} }$. The counting result on K3 surfaces is deduced from a count of primi…
