The magnetotransport properties of high mobility two dimensional electron gas have recently attracted a significant interest due to the discovery of microwave induced zero resistance states. Here we show experimentally that microwave irradiation with a photon energy much smaller than the spacing between Landau levels can induce a strong decrease in the four terminal resistance. This effect is not predicted by the bulk transport models introduced to explain zero resistance states, but can be naturally explained by an edge transport model. This highlights the importance of edge channels for zero resistance state physics that was proposed recently.
Electronic and transport properties of bilayer heterostructure under light irradiation are of fundamental interest to improve functionality of optoelectronic devices. We theoretically study the modification of transport properties of bilayer graphene and bilayer heterostructures under a time-periodic external light field. The bulk electronic and transport properties are studied in a Landauer-type configuration by using the nonequilibrium Green's function formalism. To illustrate the behavior of the differential conductance of a bilayer contact under light illumination, we consider tight-bindin…
Electrical characterization of few-layer MoS2 based field effect transistors with Ti/Au electrodes is performed in the vacuum chamber of a scanning electron microscope in order to study the effects of electron beam irradiation on the transport properties of the device. A negative threshold voltage shift and a carrier mobility enhancement is observed and explained in terms of positive charges trapped in the SiO2 gate oxide, during the irradiation. The transistor channel current is increased up to three order of magnitudes after the exposure to an irradiation dose of 100e-/nm2. Finally, a comple…
Low-energy electron-irradiation effect on transport properties of graphene field effect transistor
In the presence of external off-resonance and circularly-polarized irradiation, we have derived a many-body formalism and performed a detailed numerical analysis for both the conduction and optical currents in $α-\mc{T}_3$ lattices. The calculated complex many-body dielectric function, as well as conductivities of displacement and transport currents, display strong dependence on the lattice-structure parameter $α$, especially approaching the graphene limit with $α\to 0$. Unique features in dispersion and damping of plasmon modes are observed with different $α$ values, which are further accompa…

Hybrid excitations, called polaritons, emerge in systems with strong light-matter coupling. Usually, they dominate the linear and nonlinear optical properties with applications in quantum optics. Here, we show the crucial role of the electronic component of polaritons in the magneto-transport of a cavity-embedded 2D electron gas in the ultrastrong coupling regime. We show that the linear dc resistivity is significantly modified by the coupling to the cavity even without external irradiation. Our observations confirm recent predictions of vacuum-induced modification of the resistivity. Furtherm…
In the present work we discuss the propagation of excitons across a one-dimensional Su-Schrieffer-Heeger lattice, which possesses both harmonic oscillations and weak quartic anharmonicities. When quantizing these vibrational degrees of freedom we identify several phonon-conserving nonlinearities, each one with a different impact on the excitonic transport. Our analysis identifies a dominant nonlinear correction to the phonon hopping which leads to a strong enhancement of exciton conduction compared to a purely linear vibrational dynamics. Thus quartic lattice nonlinearities can be exploited to…
Palladium diselenide (PdSe2) is a recently isolated layered material that has attracted a lot of interest for the pentagonal structure, the air stability and the electrical properties largely tunable by the number of layers. In this work, PdSe2 is used in the form of multilayer as the channel of back-gate field-effect transistors, which are studied under repeated electron irradiations. Source-drain Pd leads enable contacts with resistance below 350 kOhm um. The transistors exhibit a prevailing n-type conduction in high vacuum, which reversibly turns into ambipolar electric transport at atmosph…
