Hadron structure advances provided by the Coulomb gauge model are summarized. Highlights include a realistic description of the vacuum and meson spectrum with chiral symmetry and dynamical flavor mixing, accurate hyperfine splittings for light and heavy systems, glueball and hybrid meson predictions in agreement with lattice QCD, and tetraquark results providing an understanding of the observed pi_1(1400) having unconventional quantum numbers.
A new method for calculating the Coulomb breakup of unstable neutron-rich isotopes at high energies is presented. The calculations employ the eikonal approximation and use a new Coulomb dynamical polarization potential (CDPP), calculated by solving the Schrödinger equation for the entire motion of the exotic projectile as a two-body cluster structure using the adiabatic approximation and incorporating excitations to the continuum. Calculations for some exotic isotopes are compared with Coulomb dissociation cross section data and found to be in good agreement.
The non-relativistic wave function framework is applied to study the production and decay of the exotic hadrons which can be effectively described as bound states of other hadrons. Employing the factorized formulation, we investigate the production of exotic hadrons in the multiproduction processes at high energy hadronic colliders with the help of event generators. This study provides crucial information for the measurements of the relevant exotic hadrons.
The physics of exotic hadrons is revisited and reviewed, with emphasis on flavour configurations which have not yet been investigated. The constituent quark model of multiquark states is discussed in some detail, as it can serve as a guide for more elaborate approaches.
Heavy ion collisions (HIC) at high energies are excellent ways for producing heavy hadrons and composite particles. With upgraded detectors at RHIC and LHC, it has become possible to measure hadrons beyond their ground states. Therefore, HIC provide a new method for studying exotic hadrons that are either hadronic molecular states or compact multiquark systems. Because their structures are related to the fundamental properties of QCD, studying exotic hadrons is currently one of the most active areas of research in hadron physics. Experiments carried out at various accelerator facilities have i…
We perform the first model independent analysis of experimental data using Deep Neural Networks to determine the nature of an exotic hadron. Specifically, we study the line shape of the $P_c(4312)$ signal reported by the LHCb collaboration and we find that its most likely interpretation is that of a virtual state. This method can be applied to other near-threshold resonance candidates.
We discuss recent work on Coulomb dissociation and an effective-range theory of low-lying electromagnetic strength of halo nuclei. We propose to study Coulomb dissociation of a halo nucleus bound by a zero-range potential as a homework problem. We study the transition from stripping to bound and unbound states and point out in this context that the Trojan-Horse method is a suitable tool to investigate subthreshold resonances.
We discuss hadron-tomography studies for the nucleon and exotic hadrons by high-energy hadron reactions. First, the constituent-counting rule is explained for determining internal quark configurations of exotic-hadron candidates by scaling properties of high-energy exclusive cross sections. Next, possibilities are discussed for investigating the generalized parton distributions (GPDs) of the nucleon and exotic hadrons at J-PARC. In particular, we study hadronic $2 \to 3$ process $p+p \to N+π+B$, exclusive Drell-Yan process, and exotic-hadron GPDs. For determining three-dimensional structure of…

We propose to use high-energy exclusive reactions for probing internal structure of exotic hadron candidates. First, the constituent counting rule of perturbative QCD can be used for finding internal configurations of an exotic hadron candidate. It is because the number of constituents ($n$), which participate in the exclusive reaction, is found by the scaling behavior of the cross section $dσ/dt \propto 1/s^{n-2}$ at large momentum transfer, where $s$ is the center-of-mass energy squared. As an example, we show that the internal structure of $Λ\, (1405)$ should be found, for example, by the r…
The dynamical diquark picture asserts that exotic hadrons can be formed from widely separated colored diquark or triquark components. We use the Born-Oppenheimer (BO) approximation to study the spectrum of states thus constructed, both in the basis of diquark spins and in the basis of heavy quark-antiquark spins. We develop a compact notation for naming these states, and use the results of lattice simulations for hybrid mesons to predict the lowest expected BO potentials for both tetraquarks and pentaquarks. We then compare to the set of exotic candidates with experimentally determined quantum…
Coulomb wave function correction including momentum resolution for charged hadron pairs: Analysis of data for $π^+π^-$ pair production in $p\;+$ Ta reaction at 70 GeV/c
The exciting discovery by LHCb of the $P_c(4312)^+$ and $P_c(4450)^+$ pentaquarks, or the suggestion of a tetraquark nature for the $Z_c(3900)$ state seen at BESIII and Belle, have triggered a lot of activity in the field of hadron physics, with new experiments planned for searching other exotic mesons and baryons, and many theoretical developments trying to disentangle the true multiquark nature from their possible molecular origin. After a brief review of the present status of these searches, this paper focusses on recently seen or yet to be discovered exotic heavy baryons that may emerge fr…

Hadron spectroscopy provides direct physical measurements that shed light on the non-perturbative behavior of quantum chromodynamics (QCD). In particular, various exotic hadrons such as the newly observed $T_{cc}^+$ by the LHCb collaboration, offer unique insights on the QCD dynamics in hadron structures. In this letter, we demonstrate how heavy ion collisions can serve as a powerful venue for hadron spectroscopy study of doubly charmed exotic hadrons by virtue of the extremely charm-rich environment created in such collisions. The yields of $T_{cc}^+$ as well as its potential isospin partners…
Heavy hadron molecules were first theorized from a crude analogy with the deuteron and the nuclear forces binding it, a conjecture which was proven to be on the right track after the discovery of the $X(3872)$. However, this analogy with nuclear physics has not been seriously exploited beyond a few calculations in the two- and three-body sectors, leaving a great number of possible theoretical consequences unexplored. Here we show that nuclear and heavy hadron effective field theories are formally identical: using a suitable notation, there is no formal difference between these two effective fi…
