We compute the neutral bosonic excitation spectra of the holographic quantum Hall fluid described by the D3-D7' system. We find that the system is stable, gapped, and, in a range of parameters, exhibits a spectrum of low-lying excitations very similar to that of a quantum Hall fluid, including a magneto-roton excitation.

We analyze the neutral spectrum of the holographic quantum Hall fluid described by the D2-D8' model. As expected for a quantum Hall state, we find the system to be stable and gapped and that, at least over much of the parameter space, the lowest excitation mode is a magneto-roton. In addition, we find magneto-rotons in higher modes as well. We show that these magneto-rotons are direct consequences of level crossings between vector and scalar modes.

We continue our construction of a hydrodynamical description of a holographic model with broken translation invariance. Using the fluid/gravity correspondence we derive the constitutive relations of the boundary theory in the presence of a magnetic field. This allows us to obtain novel results for the low-frequency magnetothermoelectric response coefficients. We discuss the DC limit of our hydrodynamics in detail, and show that our approach is equivalent to the `horizon-fluid' of Donos and Gauntlett.
A holographic model of a quantum critical theory at a finite but low temperature, and finite density is studied. We consider a holographic model with the charge current dual to a general nonlinear electrodynamics (NLED) field. Taking into account the backreaction of the NLED field on the geometry and introducing axionic scalars to generate momentum dissipation, we obtain expressions for DC conductivities with a finite magnetic field. The properties of the in-plane resistance are examined in several NLED models. We use the AdS/CFT correspondence to study propagation of sound waves in strongly coupled (2+1) dimensional conformal magnetic fluids. Our computation provides a nontrivial consistency check of the viscous magneto-hydrodynamics of Hartnoll-Kovtun-Muller-Sachdev to leading order in the external field. Depending on the behavior of the magnetic field in the hydrodynamic limit, we show that it can lead to further attenuation of sound waves in the (2+1) dimensional conformal plasma, or reduce the speed of sound. We consider a neutral and static black brane background with a probe power-law Maxwell field. Via the membrane paradigm, an expression for the holographic DC conductivity of the dual conserved current is obtained. We also discuss the dependence of the DC conductivity on the temperature, charge density and spatial components of the external field strength in the boundary theory. We discuss the $(2+1)$-dimensional parity violating charged fluid on a finite cutoff surface $Σ_c$, dual to the nondynamical and dynamical Chern-Simons (CS) modified gravities. Using nonrelativistic long-wavelength expansion method, the field equations are solved up to $\mathcal{O}(ε^2)$ in the nondynamical model. We study a strongly interacting, fermionic fluid in the presence of an applied magnetic field using a holographic framework. At low temperatures, translation symmetry is spontaneously broken and the resulting phase is a striped Hall fluid. Due to the magnetic field, an electric field applied parallel to the stripes causes the stripes to slide, a phenomenon we coin "Hall sliding."
