We consider the effect of discretization errors on the microscopic spectrum of the Wilson Dirac operator using both chiral Perturbation Theory and chiral Random Matrix Theory. A graded chiral Lagrangian is used to evaluate the microscopic spectral density of the Hermitian Wilson Dirac operator as well as the distribution of the chirality over the real eigenvalues of the Wilson Dirac operator. It is shown that a chiral Random Matrix Theory for the Wilson Dirac operator reproduces the leading zero-momentum terms of Wilson chiral Perturbation Theory. All results are obtained for fixed index of the Wilson Dirac operator. The low-energy constants of Wilson chiral Perturbation theory are shown to be constrained by the Hermiticity properties of the Wilson Dirac operator.
We calculate the leading contribution to the spectral density of the Wilson Dirac operator using chiral perturbation theory where volume and lattice spacing corrections are given by universal scaling functions. We find analytical expressions for the spectral density on the scale of the average level spacing, and introduce a chiral Random Matrix Theory that reproduces these results. Our work opens up a novel approach to the infinite volume limit of lattice gauge theory at finite lattice spacing and new ways to extract coefficients of Wilson chiral perturbation theory.
We study the lattice artefacts of the Wilson Dirac operator for QCD with two colors and fermions in the fundamental representation from the viewpoint of chiral perturbation theory. These effects are studied with the help of the following spectral observables: the level density of the Hermitian Wilson Dirac operator, the distribution of chirality over the real eigenvalues, and the chiral condensate for the quenched as well as for the unquenched theory. We provide analytical expressions for all these quantities. Moreover we derive constraints for the level density of the real eigenvalues of the …
We study discretization effects of the Wilson and staggered Dirac operator with $N_{\rm c}>2$ using chiral random matrix theory (chRMT). We obtain analytical results for the joint probability density of Wilson-chRMT in terms of a determinantal expression over complex pairs of eigenvalues, and real eigenvalues corresponding to eigenvectors of positive or negative chirality as well as for the eigenvalue densities. The explicit dependence on the lattice spacing can be readily read off from our results which are compared to numerical simulations of Wilson-chRMT. For the staggered Dirac operator we…
We summarize recent analytical results obtained for lattice artifacts of the non-Hermitian Wilson Dirac operator. Hereby we discuss the effect of all three low energy constants. In particular we study the limit of small lattice spacing and also consider the regime of large lattice spacing which is closely related to the mean field limit. Thereby we extract simple relations between measurable quantities like the average number of additional real modes and the low energy constants. These relations may improve the fitting for the low energy constants.
Lower bounds on the magnitude of the spectrum of the Hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator H(m) have previously been derived for 0<m<2 when the lattice gauge field satisfies a certain smoothness condition. In this paper lower bounds are derived for 2p-2<m<2p for general p=1,2,...,d where d is the spacetime dimension. The bounds can alternatively be viewed as localisation bounds on the real spectrum of the usual Wilson-Dirac operator. They are needed for the rigorous evaluation of the classical continuum limit of the axial anomaly and index of the overlap Dirac operator at general values of m, and pr…
We find the lattice spacing dependence of the eigenvalue density of the non-Hermitian Wilson Dirac operator in the $ε$-domain. The starting point is the joint probability density of the corresponding random matrix theory. In addition to the density of the complex eigenvalues we also obtain the density of the real eigenvalues separately for positive and negative chiralities as well as an explicit analytical expression for the number of additional real modes.
A recent proposal suggests that even if a Ginsparg-Wilson lattice Dirac operator does not possess any topological zero modes in topologically-nontrivial gauge backgrounds, it can reproduce correct axial anomaly for sufficiently smooth gauge configurations, provided that it is exponentially-local, doublers-free, and has correct continuum behavior. In this paper, we calculate the axial anomaly of this lattice Dirac operator in weak coupling perturbation theory, and show that it recovers the topological charge density in the continuum limit.
We introduce Random Matrix Models for the Hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator of QCD-like theories. We show that they are equivalent to the $ε$-limit of the chiral Lagrangian for Wilson chiral perturbation theory. Results are obtained for two-color QCD with quarks in the fundamental representation of the color group as well as any-color QCD with quarks in the adjoint representation. For $N_c=2$ we also have obtained the lattice spacing dependence of the quenched average spectral density for a fixed value of the index of the Dirac operator. Comparisons with direct numerical simulations of the rando…
One major systematic uncertainty of lattice QCD results is due to the continuum extrapolation. For an asymptotically free theory like QCD one finds corrections of the form $a^{n_\mathrm{min}}[2b_0\bar{g}^2(1/a)]^{\hatΓ_i}$ with lattice spacing $a$, where $\bar{g}(1/a)$ is the running coupling at renormalisation scale $μ=1/a$ and $n_\mathrm{min}$ is a positive integer. $\hatΓ_i$ can take any positive or negative value, but is computable by next-to-leading order perturbation theory. It will impact convergence towards the continuum limit. Balog, Niedermayer and Weisz first pointed out how problem…
We consider the effect of a non-zero lattice spacing on the low-energy effective theory of Wilson fermions with one flavor. Analytical results are given for both the chiral condensate and the microscopic spectral density of the Wilson Dirac operator. A subtle mechanism ensures that a constant chiral condensate is recovered, once the sum over sectors of fixed index is performed.
We present an update on our on-going project to compute hadronic observables for Nf=2 flavours of O(a) improved Wilson fermions at small lattice spacings. The procedure to determine the lattice scale via the mass of the Omega baryon is described. Furthermore we present preliminary results for the pion form factor computed using twisted boundary conditions, and report on the implementation of a novel approach to determine the contribution of the hadronic vacuum polarisation to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.
Random Matrix Theory has been successfully applied to lattice Quantum Chromodynamics. In particular, a great deal of progress has been made on the understanding, numerically as well as analytically, of the spectral properties of the Wilson Dirac operator. In this paper, we study the infra-red spectrum of the Wilson Dirac operator via Random Matrix Theory including the three leading order $a^2$ correction terms that appear in the corresponding chiral Lagrangian. A derivation of the joint probability density of the eigenvalues is presented. This result is used to calculate the density of the com…
Properties of the proton and neutron are studied in partially-quenched chiral perturbation theory at finite lattice spacing. Masses, magnetic moments, the matrix elements of isovector twist-2 operators and axial-vector currents are examined at the one-loop level in a double expansion in the light-quark masses and the lattice spacing. This work will be useful in extrapolating the results of simulations using Wilson valence and sea quarks, as well as simulations using Wilson sea quarks and Ginsparg-Wilson valence quarks, to the continuum.
Chiral perturbation theory for eigenvalue distributions, and equivalently random matrix theory, has recently been extended to include lattice effects for Wilson fermions. We test the predictions by comparison to eigenvalue distributions of the Hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator from pure gauge (quenched) ensembles. We show that the lattice effects are diminished when using clover improvement for the Dirac operator. We demonstrate that the leading Wilson low-energy constants associated with Wilson (clover) fermions can be determined using spectral information of the respective Dirac operator at fi…
Scale setting for QCD with two flavours of staggered quarks is examined using Wilson flow over a factor of four change in both the lattice spacing and the pion mass. The statistics needed to keep the errors in the flow scale fixed is found to increase approximately as the inverse square of the lattice spacing. Tree level improvement of the scales t_0 and w_0 is found to be useful in most of the range of lattice spacings we explore. The scale uncertainty due to remaining lattice spacing effects is found to be about 3%. The ratio w_0/\sqrt{t_0} is N_f dependent and we find its continuum limit to…
The microscopic spectral density of the Hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator is computed numerically in quenched lattice QCD. We demonstrate that the results given for fixed index of the Wilson-Dirac operator can be matched by the predictions from Wilson chiral perturbation theory. We test successfully the finite volume and the mass scaling predicted by Wilson chiral perturbation theory at fixed lattice spacing.
We study the impact of explicit chiral symmetry breaking of Wilson fermions on mesonic correlators in the epsilon-regime using Wilson chiral perturbation theory (WChPT). We generalize the epsilon-expansion of continuum ChPT to nonzero lattice spacings for various quark mass regimes. It turns out that the corrections due to a nonzero lattice spacing are highly suppressed for typical quark masses of the order aLambda_QCD^2. The lattice spacing effects become more pronounced for smaller quark masses and lead to non-trivial corrections of the continuum ChPT results at next-to-leading order. We com…
A novel feature of a Ginsparg-Wilson lattice Dirac operator is discussed. Unlike the Dirac operator for massless fermions in the continuum, this lattice Dirac operator does not possess topological zero modes for any topologically-nontrivial background gauge fields, even though it is exponentially-local, doublers-free, and reproduces correct axial anomaly for topologically-trivial gauge configurations.
All microscopic correlation functions of the spectrum of the Hermitian Wilson Dirac operator with any number of flavors with equal masses are computed. In particular, we give explicit results for the spectral density in the physical case with two light quark flavors. The results include the leading effect in the discretization error and are given for fixed index of the Wilson Dirac operator. They have been obtained starting from chiral Lagrangians for the generating function of the Dirac spectrum. Microscopic correlation functions of the real eigenvalues of the Wilson Dirac operator are comput…
We investigate and compute spectral sums of the Wilson lattice Dirac operator for quenched SU(3) gauge theory. It is demonstrated that there exist sums which serve as order parameters for the confinement-deconfinement phase transition and get their main contribution from the IR end of the spectrum. They are approximately proportional to the Polyakov loop. In contrast to earlier studied spectral sums some of them are expected to have a well-defined continuum limit.
New exact upper and lower bounds are derived on the spectrum of the square of the hermitian Wilson Dirac operator. It is hoped that the derivations and the results will be of help in the search for ways to reduce the cost of simulations using the overlap Dirac operator. The bounds also apply to the Wilson Dirac operator in odd dimensions and are therefore relevant to domain wall fermions as well.
We derive the distributions of individual eigenvalues for the Hermitian Wilson Dirac Operator D5 as well as for real eigenvalues of the Wilson Dirac Operator DW. The framework we provide is valid in the epsilon regime of chiral perturbation theory for any number of flavours Nf and for non-zero low energy constants W6, W7, W8. It is given as a perturbative expansion in terms of the k-point spectral density correlation functions and integrals thereof, which in some cases reduces to a Fredholm Pfaffian. For the real eigenvalues of DW at fixed chirality nu this expansion truncates after at most nu…
The Wilson-Dirac matrix for SU(2) with I=1/2 fermions is written in an explicitly real form. The basis change relating it to the conventional form in which the matrix has complex entries is also given. Some applications are presented.
Electromagnetic properties of the octet mesons as well as the octet and decuplet baryons are augmented in quenched and partially quenched chiral perturbation theory to include O(a) corrections due to lattice discretization. We present the results for the SU(3) flavor group in the isospin limit as well as the results for SU(2) flavor with non-degenerate quarks. These corrections will be useful for extrapolation of lattice calculations using Wilson valence and sea quarks, as well as calculations using Wilson sea quarks and Ginsparg-Wilson valence quarks.
We extend the epsilon-expansion of continuum chiral perturbation theory to nonzero lattice spacing in the framework of Wilson Chiral Perturbation Theory. We distinguish various regimes by defining the relative power counting of the quark mass m and the lattice spacing a. We observe that for m ~ a Lambda^2_QCD, the explicit breaking of chiral symmetry in Wilson fermions is still driven by the quark mass and lattice corrections are highly suppressed. The lattice spacing effects become more pronounced for smaller quark masses and may lead to non-trivial corrections of the continuum results at nex…
We perform an extensive study of autocorrelation of several observables in lattice QCD with two degenerate flavours of naive Wilson fermions and unimproved Wilson gauge action using DD-HMC algorithm. We show that (1) at a given lattice spacing, autocorrelation of topological susceptibility decreases with decreasing quark mass and autocorrelations of plaquette and Wilson loop do not increase with decreasing quark mass, (2) autocorrelation of topological susceptibility substantially increases with decreasing lattice spacing but autocorrelation of topological charge density correlator shows only …
We investigate the index of the Neuberger's Dirac operator in abelian gauge theories on finite lattices by numerically analyzing the spectrum of the hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator for a continuous family of gauge fields connecting different topological sectors. By clarifying the characteristic structure of the spectrum leading to the index theorem we show that the index coincides to the topological charge for a wide class of gauge field configurations. We also argue that the index can be found exactly for some special but nontrivial configurations in two dimensions by directly analyzing the s…
A polynomial transformation for non-Hermitian matrices is presented, which provides access to wedge-shaped spectral windows. For Wilson-Dirac type matrices this procedure not only allows the determination of the physically interesting low-lying eigenmodes but also provides a substantial acceleration of the eigenmode algorithm employed.
Establishing an exact relation for the derivative we show that the eigenvalue flows of the hermitean Wilson-Dirac operator obey a differential equation. We obtain a complete overview of the characteristic features of its solutions. The underlying mathematical aspects are fully clarified.
We investigate the low-lying eigenvalues of the improved Wilson-Dirac operator in the Schroedinger functional with two dynamical quark flavors. At a lattice spacing of approximately 0.1 fm we find more very small eigenvalues than in the quenched case. These cause problems with HMC-type algorithms and in the evaluation of fermionic correlation functions. Through a simulation at a finer lattice spacing we are able to establish their nature as cutoff-effects
Lattice QCD with Wilson fermions generically shows the phenomenon of a first order phase transition. We study the phase structure of lattice QCD using Wilson twisted mass fermions and the Wilson plaquette gauge action are used in a range of beta values where such a first order phase transition is observed. In particular, we investigate the dependence of the first order phase transition on the value of the lattice spacing. Using only data in one phase and neglecting possible problems arising from the phase transition we are able to perform a first scaling test for physical quantities using this…
We extend chiral perturbation theory to include linear dependence on the lattice spacing $a$ for the Wilson action. The perturbation theory is written as a double expansion in the small quark mass $m_q$ and lattice spacing $a$. We present formulae for the mass and decay constant of a flavor-non-singlet meson in this scheme to order $a$ and $m_q^2$. The extension to the partially quenched theory is also described.
Effects of dynamical quarks on the microscopic spectrum of the Wilson Dirac operator are analyzed by means of effective field theory. We consider the distributions of the real modes of the Wilson Dirac operator as well as the spectrum of the Hermitian Wilson Dirac operator, and work out the case of one flavor in all detail. In contrast to the quenched case, the theory has a mild sign problem that manifests itself by giving a spectral density that is not positive definite as the spectral gap closes.
We determine the free field hypercubic Dirac operator which is optimally close to satisfying the Ginsparg-Wilson relation. Inserting this operator into the overlap formula, we show that the analytic locality bound on the resulting overlap Dirac operator is substantially stronger than in the standard case. This improvement generally persists in gauge backgrounds when the plaquette variables are all close to unity.
We investigate the spectral properties of the Wilson Dirac operator in quenched QCD in the microscopic regime. We distinguish the topological sectors using the index as determined by the Wilson flow method. Consequently, the distributions of the low-lying eigenvalues of the Wilson Dirac operator can be compared in each of the topological sectors to predictions from random matrix theory applied to the $ε$-regime of chiral perturbation theory. We find rather good agreement for volumes as small as $(1.5 \, \text{fm})^4$ and lattice spacings as coarse as $0.1\, \text{fm}$, and demonstrate that it …
We compute the lattice spacing corrections to the spectral density of the Hermitean Wilson Dirac operator using Wilson Chiral Perturbation Theory at NLO. We consider a regime where the quark mass $m$ and the lattice spacing $a$ obey the relative power counting $m\sim a Λ_{\rm QCD}^2$: in this situation discretisation effects can be treated as perturbation of the continuum behaviour. While this framework fails to describe lattice spectral density close to the threshold, it allows nevertheless to investigate important properties of the spectrum of the Wilson Dirac operator. We discuss the range …
We examine artifacts associated with the chiral symmetry breaking induced through the use of Wilson-Dirac fermions in lattice Monte Carlo computations. For light quark masses, the conventional quenched theory can not be defined using direct Monte Carlo methods due to the existence of nonintegrable poles in physical quantities. These poles are associated with the real eigenvalue spectrum of the Wilson-Dirac operator. We show how this singularity structure can be observed in the analysis of both QED in two dimensions and QCD in four dimensions.
We consider two-flavor QCD in the lattice regularization with improved Wilson fermions. In this formulation chiral symmetry is explicitly broken at order a and hence the isovector axial currents require improvement as well as a finite renormalization if they are to satisfy continuum Ward--Takahashi identities up to small lattice corrections of O(a^2). Algorithmic difficulties at coarse lattice spacings, where HMC suffers from a distorted Dirac spectrum, are discussed. This is shown to be a cutoff effect, which disappears rapidly as the lattice spacing is decreased. An alternative algorithm, th…
The calculation of the finite lattice spacing corrections for I=2 pi-pi scattering is carried out for isotropic and anisotropic Wilson lattice actions. Pion masses and decay constants are also determined in this context. These results correct the phase shift calculated from the lattice, which is connected to the scattering length and effective range in this low energy scattering process. When in terms of the lattice-physical parameters for either Wilson action, these lattice spacing effects first appear at the next-to-leading order counter-terms.
We pursue Ginsparg and Wilsons' block spin approach in the derivation of the Ginsparg-Wilson relation and study the correspondence of the eigenmodes of the Dirac operators in the continuum and lattice theories. After introducing a suitable cut-off in the continuum theory, we identify unphysical modes of the lattice Dirac operator which do not correspond to any physical modes of the regulated continuum Dirac operator. We also consider zero modes in the continuum and lattice theories. Our studies give a physical interpretation of the expression of the index defined on a lattice and a formal argu…
The spectral flow of the low-lying eigenvalues of the improved and unimproved Wilson-Dirac operator is studied on instanton-like configurations and on thermalized quenched configurations at various $β$-values and lattice sizes. We also investigate the space-time localisation and chirality of the corresponding eigenvectors.
We study the spectrum of the hermitian Wilson Dirac operator in the epsilon-regime of QCD in the quenched approximation and compare it to predictions from Wilson Random Matrix Theory. Using the distributions of single eigenvalues in the microscopic limit and for specific topological charge sectors, we examine the possibility of extracting estimates of the low energy constants which parametrise the lattice artefacts in Wilson chiral perturbation theory. The topological charge of the field configurations is obtained from a field theoretical definition as well as from the flow of eigenvalues of t…
We present a new multigrid solver that is suitable for the Dirac operator in the presence of disordered gauge fields. The key behind the success of the algorithm is an adaptive projection onto the coarse grids that preserves the near null space. The resulting algorithm has weak dependence on the gauge coupling and exhibits mild critical slowing down in the chiral limit. Results are presented for the Wilson Dirac operator of the 2d U(1) Schwinger model.
We perform a comparison between different lattice regularizations of the Dirac operator for massless fermions in the framework of the single and two flavor Schwinger model. We consider a) the Wilson-Dirac operator at the critical value of the hopping parameter; b) Neuberger's overlap operator; c) the fixed point operator. We test chiral properties of the spectrum, dispersion relations and rotational invariance of the mesonic bound state propagators.
We rederive the spectral asymmetry of the Wilson-Dirac model in external fields, paying attention to the Chern number due to the Berry connection. We interpret the smooth part of the spectral asymmetry as the Streda formula that is originally derived for the two-dimensional quantum Hall effect (QHE). We show by numerical calculations that the Streda formula reproduces the known first and second Chern numbers in a weak magnetic field limit. We conjecture that the Streda formula is valid even for stronger fields and for more generic systems in higher dimensions.
Starting from the chiral Lagrangian for Wilson fermions at nonzero lattice spacing we have obtained compact expressions for all spectral correlation functions of the Hermitian Wilson Dirac operator in the $ε$-domain of QCD with dynamical quarks. We have also obtained the distribution of the chiralities over the real eigenvalues of the Wilson Dirac operator for any number of flavors. All results have been derived for a fixed index of the Dirac operator. An important effect of dynamical quarks is that they completely suppress the inverse square root singularity in the spectral density of the Her…
It is shown that the eigenvalue problem for the hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator of for a uniform magnetic field in two dimensions can be reduced to one-dimensional problem described by a relativistic analog of the Harper equation. An explicit formula for the secular equations is given in term of a set of polynomials. The spectrum exhibits a fractal structure in the infinite volume limit. An exact result concerning the index theorem for the overlap Dirac operator is obtained.
We study characteristic features of the eigenvalues of the Wilson-Dirac operator in topologically non-trivial gauge field configurations by examining complete spectra of the fermion matrix. In particular we discuss the role of eigenvectors with real eigenvalues as the lattice equivalents of the continuum zero-modes. We demonstrate, that those properties of the spectrum which correspond to non-trivial topology are stable under adding fluctuations to the gauge fields. The behavior of the spectrum in a fully quantized theory is discussed using QED_2 as an example.
We present a study of the instanton size and spatial distributions in pure SU(3) gauge theory using under-relaxed cooling. We also investigate the low-lying eigenmodes of the (improved) Wilson-Dirac operator, in particular, the appearance of zero-modes and their space-time localisation with respect to instantons in the underlying gauge field.
Wilson Fermions with untwisted and twisted mass are widely used in lattice simulations. Therefore one important question is whether the twist angle and the lattice spacing affect the phase diagram. We briefly report on the study of the phase diagram of QCD in the parameter space of the degenerate quark masses, isospin chemical potential, lattice spacing, and twist angle by employing chiral perturbation theory. Moreover we calculate the pion masses and their dependence on these four parameters.
We investigate chiral properties of the domain-wall fermion (DWF) system by using the four-dimensional hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator. We first derive a formula which connects a chiral symmetry breaking term in the five dimensional DWF Ward-Takahashi identity with the four dimensional Wilson-Dirac operator, and simplify the formula in terms of only the eigenvalues of the operator, using an ansatz for the form of the eigenvectors. For a given distribution of the eigenvalues, we then discuss the behavior of the chiral symmetry breaking term as a function of the fifth dimensional length. We fina…
We consider non-Hermitian Dirac operators in QCD-like theories coupled to a chiral U(1) potential or an imaginary chiral chemical potential. We show that in the continuum they fall into the recently discovered universality classes AI$^\dagger$ or AII$^\dagger$ of random matrix theory if the fermions transform in pseudoreal or real representations of the gauge group, respectively. For staggered fermions on the lattice this correspondence is reversed. We verify our predictions by computing spacing ratios of complex eigenvalues, whose distribution is universal without the need for unfolding.
It is well known that the block Krylov subspace solvers work efficiently for some cases of the solution of differential equations with multiple right-hand sides. In lattice QCD calculation of physical quantities on a given configuration demands us to solve the Dirac equation with multiple sources. We show that a new block Krylov subspace algorithm recently proposed by the authors reduces the computational cost significantly without loosing numerical accuracy for the solution of the O(a)-improved Wilson-Dirac equation.
Close to the continuum the lattice spacing affects the smallest eigenvalues of the Wilson Dirac operator in a very specific manner determined by the way in which the discretization breaks chiral symmetry. These effects can be computed analytically by means of Wilson chiral perturbation theory and Wilson random matrix theory. A number of insights on chiral Dynamics with Wilson fermions can be obtained from the computation of the microscopic spectrum of the Wilson Dirac operator. For example, the unusual volume scaling of the smallest eigenvalues observed in lattice simulations has a natural exp…
In this article we present our implementation of a Hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm for Lattice Gauge Theory using two degenerate flavours of Wilson-Dirac fermions on a Fermi GPU. We find that using registers instead of global memory speeds up the code by almost an order of magnitude. To map the array variables to scalars, so that the compiler puts them in the registers, we use code generators. Our final program is more than 10 times faster than a generic single CPU.
We introduce a random two-matrix model interpolating between a chiral Hermitian (2n+nu)x(2n+nu) matrix and a second Hermitian matrix without symmetries. These are taken from the chiral Gaussian Unitary Ensemble (chGUE) and Gaussian Unitary Ensemble (GUE), respectively. In the microscopic large-n limit in the vicinity of the chGUE (which we denote by weakly non-chiral limit) this theory is in one to one correspondence to the partition function of Wilson chiral perturbation theory in the epsilon regime, such as the related two matrix-model previously introduced in refs. [20,21]. For a generic nu…
We present the comparison of the analytical microscopic spectral density for lattice QCD with $N_{\rm f}=2$ twisted mass fermions with the one obtained on the lattice utilizing configurations produced by the ETM collaboration. We extract estimates for the chiral condensate as well as the low-energy constant $W_8$ of Wilson $χ$-PT by employing spectral information of the Wilson Dirac operator with fixed index at finite volume.
In this paper, we present a method for the computation of the low-lying real eigenvalues of the Wilson-Dirac operator based on the Arnoldi algorithm. These eigenvalues contain information about several observables. We used them to calculate the sign of the fermion determinant in one-flavor QCD and the sign of the Pfaffian in N=1 super Yang-Mills theory. The method is based on polynomial transformations of the Wilson-Dirac operator, leading to considerable improvements of the computation of eigenvalues. We introduce an iterative procedure for the construction of the polynomials and demonstrate …
We show that, under certain general assumptions, any sensible lattice Dirac operator satisfies a generalized form of the Ginsparg-Wilson relation (GWR). Those assumptions, on the other hand, are mostly dictated by large momentum behaviour considerations. We also show that all the desirable properties often deduced from the standard GWR hold true of the general case as well; hence one has, in fact, more freedom to modify the form of the lattice Dirac operator, without spoiling its nice properties. Our construction, a generalized Ginsparg-Wilson relation (GGWR), is satisfied by some known propos…
