In this study we investigated indirect manifestations of color octet electron at the next generation linear colliders: International Linear Collider (ILC) and Compact Linear Collider (CLIC). Namely, production of two gluons via color octet electron exchange is considered. Signal and background analysis have been performed taking into account initial state radiation and beamstrahlung. We show that color octet electron (e_(8)) manifestation will be seen upto M(e_(8))=1.75 TeV and 1.70 TeV at ILC and CLIC with sqrt(s)=0.5 TeV, respectively. CLIC with sqrt(s)=3 TeV will be sensitive upto M(e_(8))=6.88 TeV.
We study $J/Ψ$ production at photon-photon colliders, which can be realised with Compton scaterring of laser photons at $e^+e^-$ colliders. We find that the production rate through the color-octet channel is comparable to that through the color-singlet channel. Experimentally the two mechanisms can be studied separately because the processes have different signals.
Indirect search for color octet electron at Plasma Wake Field Accelerator- Linear Collider (PWFA-LC) has been considered. It is shown that color octet electron masses can be probed up to 17.7 TeV at PWFA-LC with three years integrated luminosity. In addition, the compositeness scale can be probed up to 38.5 TeV.
We analyze collider signatures of massive color-octet bosons whose couplings to quarks are suppressed. Gauge invariance forces the octets to couple at tree level only in pairs to gluons, with a strength set by the QCD gauge coupling. For a spin-1 octet, the cross section for pair production at hadron colliders is larger than that for a quark of equal mass. The octet decays into two jets, leading to a 4-jet signature with two pairs of jets forming resonances of the same mass. For a spin-0 octet the cross section is smaller, and the dominant decay is into b\bar{b}, or t\bar{t} if kinematically a…
We present the results of our analysis on charmonia ($J/ψ$ and $ψ'$) hadroproduction taking into account higher-order QCD effects induced by initial-state radiation in a Monte Carlo framework, with the colour-octet mechanism implemented in the event generation. We find that those colour-octet matrix elements extracted so far from Fermilab Tevatron data for both $J/ψ$ and $ψ'$ production have to be lowered significantly. We finally make predictions for charmonia production at the LHC, presenting a code for a fast simulation with PYTHIA based on the colour-octet model.
We investigate $J/ψ$ production at a Photon Linear Collider (PLC) in the framework of NRQCD factorization approach. It was shown that color octet contribution is dominating in charmonium production at PLC. The main fraction of $J/ψ$ comes from the single and double resolved photon processes. Expected cross sections of charmonium states production are large enough even at $p_T>5$ GeV to expect several hundreds of $J/ψ$'s through the leptonic decays channel for a projected integral PLC luminosity of $50 fb^{-1}$}
Di-jet resonance searches are simple, yet powerful and model-independent, probes for discovering new particles at hadron colliders. Once such a resonance has been discovered it is important to determine the mass, spin, couplings, chiral behavior and color properties to determine the underlying theoretical structure. We propose a new variable which, in the absence of decays of the resonance into new non-standard states, distinguishes between color-octet and color-singlet resonances. To keep our study widely applicable we study phenomenological models of color-octet and color-singlet resonances …
We investigate the resonant production of color octet muons in order to explore the discovery potential of the FCC-based μp colliders. It is shown that search potential of μp colliders essentially surpass potential of the LHC and would exceed that of FCC pp collider.
This paper completes the study of the next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD corrections to massive color-octet vector boson production at the LHC and Tevatron. The massive color-octet vector bosons are generically referred to as colorons. Building on our previous calculation of quark-initiated coloron production at NLO, we use the pinch technique to investigate coloron production via gluon fusion. We demonstrate that this one-loop production amplitude is finite, and find that its numerical contribution to coloron production is typically four orders of magnitude smaller than the contribution from qua…
We analyze the collider sensitivity for new colored resonances in $t\bar{t}$, $b \bar{b}$, and $jj$ final states. While searches in the single production channel are model-dependent, the pair production rate is model independent and the existing $(JJ)(JJ)$ and $4t$ searches impose strong constraints on the relevant branching fractions, where $J = j$ or $b$. We point out the missing, complementary searches in the mixed decay modes, $t\bar{t}(jj)$, $t\bar{t}(b\bar{b})$, and $(b\bar{b})(jj)$. We propose analysis strategies for the $t\bar{t}(jj)$ and $t\bar{t}(b\bar{b})$ decays and find their sens…
We present a theoretical framework for systematically calculating next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD effects to various experimental observables in models with massive COVB in a model independent way at hadron colliders. Specifically, we show the numerical results for the NLO QCD corrections to total cross sections, invariant mass distribution and AFB of top quark pairs production mediated by a massive COVB in both the fixed scale (top quark mass) scheme and the dynamical scale (top pair invariant mass) scheme. Our results show that the NLO QCD calculations in the dynamical scale scheme is more r…
We consider J/psi photoproduction in e+ e- as well as linear photon colliders. We find that the process is dominated by the resolved photon channel. Both the once-resolved and twice-resolved cross-sections are sensitive to (different combinations of) the colour octet matrix elements. Hence, this may be a good testing ground for colour octet contributions in NRQCD. On the other hand, the once-resolved J/psi production cross-section, particularly in a linear photon collider, is sensitive to the gluon content of the photon. Hence these cross-sections can be used to determine the parton distributi…
In this work, we investigated resonant production of spin-3/2 color octet electron at the Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC). Signal and background analysis have been performed and discovery, observation and exclusion limits are determined for spin 3/2 color octet electron masses. Reachable values of the compositeness scale are presented as a function of the spin-3/2 color octet electron masses.
It has recently been suggested that gauge invariance forbids the coupling of a massive color-octet vector meson to two gluons. While this is true for operators in an effective Lagrangian of dimension four or less, we demonstrate that dimension six interactions will lead to such couplings. In the case of technicolor, the result is a technirho-gluon-gluon coupling comparable to the naive vector meson dominance estimate, but with a substantial uncertainty. This has implications for several recent studies of technicolor phenomenology.
In this paper, we discuss the prompt j/psi production at e^+e^- colliders via color-singlet and color-octet production mechanisms. The color-singlet production processes include 1) e^+e^- to J/ψgg; 2) e^+e^- to J/ψc\bar{c}; 3) e^+e^- to q \bar q ggJ/ψand e^+e^- to q \bar q gχ_c followed by χ_c to J/ψγ. The color-octet production processes include 1) e^+e^- to J/ψg; 2) e^+e^- to j/psi q\bar q. Of all these production channels, we find that the color-octet contributions dominate over the color-singlet contributions at any energy scales. At low energies (\sqrt{s}< 20 GeV), the dominant channel is…
Resonant production of color octet electron, e_{8}, at the FCC based ep colliders has been analyzed. It is shown that e-FCC will cover much a wider region of e_{8} masses compared to the LHC. Moreover, with highest electron beam energy, e_{8} search potential of the e-FCC exceeds that of FCC pp collider. If e_{8} is discovered earlier by the FCC pp collider, e-FCC will give opportunity to handle very important additional information. For example, compositeness scale can be probed up to hundreds TeV region.
We propose the color-octet mechanism combined with the two gluon exchange model for the diffractive $J/ψ$ production in hadron collisions. In the leading logarithmic approximation (LLA) in QCD, we find that the diffractive $J/ψ$ production rate is related to the off-diagonal gluon density in the proton and to the nonperturbative color-octet matrix element of $J/ψ$. The rate is found to be very sensitive to the gluon density at very small values of $x$ (down to $x=O(10^{-6})$). As a result, this process may provide a wide window for testing the two-gluon exchange model, and may be particularly …
Color-octet resonances arise in many well motivated theories beyond the standard model. As colored objects they are produced copiously at the LHC and can be discovered in early searches for new physics in dijet final states. Once they are discovered it will be important to measure the couplings of the new resonances to determine the underlying theoretical structure. We propose a new channel, associated production of $W,Z$ gauge bosons and color-octet resonances, to help determine the chiral structure of the couplings. We present our analysis for a range of color-octet masses (2.5 to 4.5 TeV), …
In composite models with colored preons leptogluons (l_(8)) has a same status with leptoquarks, excited leptons and quarks etc. We analyze resonant production of color octet electron (e_(8)) at QCD Explorer stage of the Large Hadron electron Collider (LHeC). It is shown that the e_(8) discovery at the LHeC will simultaneously determine the compositeness scale.
Elements of the phenomenology of color-octet scalars (sgluons), as predicted in the hybrid N=1/N=2 supersymmetric model, are discussed in the light of forthcoming experiments at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
Using the nonrelativistic QCD factorization formalism, we calculate the electroproduction cross sections of $η_c$ in ep collisions, including the contribution from both the transverse photon and the longitudinal photon. For this process the color-singlet contribution vanishes up to the next to leading order perturbative QCD calculations. The dominant contribution comes from the color-octet ${}^1S_0^{(8)}$ subprocess. The nonperturbative color-octet matrix element of ${}^1S_0^{(8)}$ of $η_c$ is related to that of ${}^3S_1^{(8)}$ of $J/ψ$ by heavy quark spin symmetry, and the latter can be deter…
In this work we study the collider phenomenology of color-octet scalars (sgluons) in minimal supersymmetric models endowed with a global continuous $R$ symmetry. We systematically catalog the significant decay channels of scalar and pseudoscalar sgluons and identify novel features that are natural in these models. These include decays in nonstandard diboson channels, such as to a gluon and a photon; three-body decays with considerable branching fractions; and long-lived particles with displaced vertex signatures. We also discuss the single and pair production of these particles and show that t…
We present an analysis of the ψψproduction from double parton (DP) sacttering and single parton (SP) scattering in the large p_T region via color-octet gluon fragmentation. We find that at the Tevatron the DP ψψproduction is at the edge of the detectability at present, and at the LHC the DP cross section will dominate over the SP cross section in the lower p_T(min) region (i.e., p_T(min)<7GeV). We also conclude that the color-octet mechanism is of crucial importance to the double j/psi production at high energy hadron colliders.
Many new-physics models, especially those with a color-triplet top-quark partner, contain a heavy color-octet state. The "naturalness" argument for a light Higgs boson requires that the color-octet state be not much heavier than a TeV, and thus it can be pair-produced with large cross sections at high-energy hadron colliders. It may decay preferentially to a top quark plus a top-partner, which subsequently decays to a top quark plus a color-singlet state. This singlet can serve as a WIMP dark-matter candidate. Such decay chains lead to a spectacular signal of four top quarks plus missing energ…
We discuss neutrinoless double beta decay and lepton flavor violating decays such as $μ-> eγ$ in the colored seesaw scenario. In this mechanism, neutrino masses are generated at one-loop via the exchange of TeV-scale fermionic and scalar color octets. The same particles mediate lepton number and flavor violating processes. We show that within this framework a dominant color octet contribution to neutrinoless double beta decay is possible without being in conflict with constraints from lepton flavor violating processes. We furthermore compare the "direct" color octet contribution to neutrinoles…
Recently we have proved color octet NRQCD factorization of S-wave heavy quarkonium production at all orders in coupling constant at high energy colliders in Eur. Phys. J. C76 (2016) 448. In this paper we extend this to prove color octet NRQCD factorization of P-wave heavy quarkonium production at all orders in coupling constant at high energy colliders. We find that while the color octet NRQCD S-wave non-perturbative matrix element contains two gauge-links in the adjoint representation of SU(3), the color octet NRQCD P-wave non-perturbative matrix element contains four gauge-links in the funda…
Color octet (pseudo)scalars, if they exist, will be copiously produced at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). However, their detection can become a very challenging task. In particular, if their decay into a pair of top quarks is kinematically forbidden, the main decay channel would be into two jets, with a very large background. In this Brief Report we explore the possibility of using anomaly-induced decays of the color octet pseudoscalars into gauge bosons to find them at the LHC.
One possible extension of the Standard Model scalar sector includes SU(2)_L doublet scalars that are color octets rather than singlets. We focus on models in which the couplings to fermions are consistent with the principle of minimal flavor violation (MFV), in which case these color octet scalars couple most strongly to the third generation of quarks. When the Yukawa coupling of color octet scalars to Standard Model fermions is less than unity, these states can live long enough to bind into color-singlet spin-0 hadrons, which we call octetonia. In this paper, we consider the phenomenology of …
Both CDF and D0 at Tevatron reported the measurements of forward-backward asymmetry in top pair production, which showed possible deviation from the standard model QCD prediction. In this paper, we show that a new color-octet massive vector boson with mass just above twice that of top quark can simultaneously account for the asymmetry and differential distribution $dσ/dM_{t\bar t}$ in top pair production, without conflict with other measurements for example di-jet production. The new particle can be discovered and studied at the more powerful Large Hadron Collider.
We examine the utility of employing polarized lepton (electron and muon) beams to perform indirect searches for scalar leptoquarks. We find that polarization can extend the reach in excluding leptoquark masses for both $e^+e^-$ and $μ^+μ^-$ machines. Polarization can also provide a diagnostic tool for determining leptoquark couplings.
In this talk we review some of the most relevant effects that the mixing with a Q=2/3 quark singlet might give at high energy colliders and K and B factories.
Within the framework of QED we investigate the inclusive J/ψproduction at $e^+e^-$ colliders. It is expected to be as a further test to the charmonium production mechanisms and QED. We find that at the energies of CESR, BEPC, and TRISTAN (e.g. 4.0 GeV \leq \sqrt s \leq 60 GeV), the contributions of the concerned electromagnetic processes to the $J/ψ$ inclusive production are great, even dominant, thus they greatly affect the observation of the color-octet $J/ψ$ production signature at $e^+e^-$ colliders. The production of ψ', being similar to that of J/ψ's, is roughly estimated, and its influe…
We review the capability of colliders to detect the virtual exchange of Kaluza-Klein towers of gravitons within the low scale quantum gravity scenario of Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos and Dvali.
We reconsider the discrepancy between theory and data in the momentum distribution of slow J/psi in B decays. Beside an update of the standard color singlet and color octet QCD components, we include the contribution from XY Z exotic mesons, and show that the residual discrepancy could be accommodated considering new XYZ mesons still unobserved.
In this work we study the collider phenomenology of color-octet scalars (sgluons) in supersymmetric models with Dirac gaugino masses that feature an explicitly broken $R$ symmetry ($R$-broken models). We construct such models by augmenting minimal $R$-symmetric models with a fairly general set of supersymmetric and softly supersymmetry-breaking operators that explicitly break $R$ symmetry. We then compute the rates of all significant two-body decays and highlight new features that appear as a result of $R$ symmetry breaking, including enhancements to extant decay rates, novel tree- and loop-le…
Gluon fragmentation represents the dominant source of high energy prompt quarkonia at hadron colliders. Fragmentation approximations break down, however, when a quarkonium's transverse momentum becomes comparable to its mass. In this paper, we identify a large class of color-octet diagrams that mediate quarkonia production at all energies and reduce to the dominant set of gluon fragmentation graphs in the high $p_\perp$ limit. They contribute to quarkonia differential cross sections at the same order as color-singlet diagrams and bring theoretical predictions for Upsilon and Psi production at …
We investigate the direct photoproduction of $J/ψ+c\bar{c}$ at $ep$ colliders with different center of mass energies in this paper. For the color-singlet part we take into account the contribution from QED subprocess as well as the QCD one. Our results show that the QED subprocess not only enhances the differential cross section in the large $p_t$ region but also gives a more transverse $J/ψ$ with $p_t$ increase, which is different from the almost unpolarized $J/ψ$ predicted by the QCD subprocess. The contribution from color octet subprocesses enhances the differential cross section by a facto…
In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), the bottom Yukawa coupling of the Higgs boson can considerably deviate from its Standard Model prediction due to non-decoupling effects. We point out that the ratio of the Higgs boson decay branching fraction to a bottom quark pair and that to a $W$-boson pair from the same production channel is particularly sensitive to large additional MSSM Higgs boson mass regions at future electron-positron colliders. Based on this precision measurement, we explicitly show the indirect discovery reach of the additional Higgs bosons according to planned p…
We compare the phenomenology of two models, the so-called minimal Z' and an effective model for a SM-like Higgs realised as a composite state of a new strong interaction, at a multi-TeV linear collider in the hypothesis that the new physics is at a scale beyond the direct reach of the machine.
We discuss indirect manifestations of graviton exchange, predicted by large extra dimensions, in fermion-pair production at a high-energy e^+e^- collider. By means of specifically defined asymmetries among integrated angular distributions, the graviton exchange signal can be cleanly distinguished from the effects of either vector-vector contact interactions or heavy scalar exchanges. The role of initial electron and positron beams polarization is also discussed. The method is applied to a quantitative assessment of the sensitivity to the mass cut-off parameter M_H of the KK graviton tower in t…
Several models predict the existence of heavy colored resonances decaying to top quarks in the TeV energy range that might be discovered at the LHC. In some of those models, moreover, a sizable charge asymmetry of top versus antitop quarks might be generated. The detection of these exotic resonances, however, requires selecting data samples where the top and the antitop quarks are highly boosted, which is experimentally very challenging. We asses that the measurement of the top quark charge asymmetry at the LHC is very sensitive to the existence of excited states of the gluon with axial-vector…
In this paper, the color-octet long distance matrix elements are studied though the inclusive $J/ψ$ production in $e^{+}e^{-}$ annihilation within the non-relativistic QCD frame. The calculations are up-to next-to-leading order with the radiative corrections and relativistic corrections at the B-factory energy region and the near-threshold region of $4.6\sim5.6~{\rm GeV}$. A constraint of the long distance matrix elements ($\langle^1S_0^{8}\rangle$, $\langle^3P_0^{8}\rangle$) is obtained. Through our estimation, the P-wave color-octet matrix element ( $\langle0|^3P^8_0|0\rangle$ ) should be th…
We reexamine the simplified dark matter (DM) models with fermionic DM particle and spin-0 mediator. The DM-nucleon scattering cross sections of these models are low-momentum suppressed at tree-level, but receive sizable loop-induced spin-independent contribution. We perform one-loop calculation for scalar-type and twist-2 DM-quark operators and complete two-loop calculation for scalar-type DM-gluon operator. By analyzing the loop-level contribution from new operators, we find that future direct detection experiments can be sensitive to a fraction of parameter space. The indirect detection and …
It has been recently proposed that neutrino mass could originate from Yukawa interactions of leptons with new colored particles. This raises the interesting possibility of testing mass generation through copious production of those particles at hadron colliders. A realistic assessment of it however should take into account how large those interactions could be from available precision results. In this work we make a systematic analysis to the flavor structure in Yukawa couplings, provide a convenient parametrization to it, and investigate the rare radiative and pure leptonic decays of the muon…
It has been recently suggested by Arkani-Hamed, Dimopoulos and Dvali that gravity may become strong at energies not far above the electroweak scale and thus remove the hierarchy problem. Such a scenario can be tested at both present and future accelerators since towers of Kaluza-Klein gravitons and associated scalar fields now play an important phenomenological role. In this paper we examine several processes for their sensitivity to a low scale for quantum gravity including deep inelastic $ep$ scattering at HERA, high precision low energy $νN$ scattering, Bhabha and Moller scattering at linea…
We discuss the potential of a $0.5\hskip 2pt TeV$ linear collider to explore manifestations of extended (or alternative) electroweak models of current interest, through measurements of the reaction $e^+e^-\to W^+W^-$ with both initial and final states polarization. Specifically, we consider the possibility to put stringent constraints on lepton mixing (or extended lepton couplings) and $Z-Z^\prime$ mixing, showing in particular the usefulness of polarization in order to disentangle these effects.
Recently unpolarized and polarized $J/ψ\,(Υ)$ production at the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) has been proposed as a new way to extract two poorly known color-octet NRQCD long-distance matrix elements: $\langle0\vert{\cal O}_{8}^{J/ψ}(^{1}S_{0})\vert0\rangle$ and $\langle0\vert{\cal O}_{8}^{J/ψ}(^{3}P_{0})\vert0\rangle$. The proposed method is based on a comparison to open heavy-quark pair production ideally performed at the same kinematics. In this paper we analyze this proposal in more detail and provide predictions for the EIC based on the available determinations of the color-octet matrix el…
We study the implications for generating the cosmological baryon asymmetry through leptogenesis in the recent model of Fileviez Perez and Wise, which provides a new mechanism for generating neutrino masses at one-loop by introducing new color octet fermion and scalar fields. We find that there are significant differences with respect to other models for leptogenesis: low scale leptogenesis can occur naturally and the CP asymmetry can be large as there is no upper bound arising from neutrino masses. The CP asymmetry is insensitive to the phases in the neutrino mixing matrix. We investigate in d…
There are many extensions of the standard model that predict the existence of electroweakly interacting massive particles (EWIMPs), in particular in the context of the dark matter. In this paper, we provide a way for indirectly studying EWIMPs through the precise study of the pair production processes of charged leptons or that of a charged lepton and a neutrino at future 100 TeV collider experiments. It is revealed that this search method is suitable in particular for Higgsino, providing us the $5σ$ discovery reach of Higgsino in supersymmetric model with mass up to 850 GeV. We also discuss h…
Motivated by the interest in lepton number violating processes, we study the connection between the rate of Z -> mu e decay and those of the low-energy processes mu ->3 e, and mu -> e conversion in nuclear field. We show that if the vector or axial Z form factors are dominant, Br(Z->mu e) is not observable, while if the Z dipole form factors are dominant, the relatively weak indirect bound Br(Z->mu e)<7 10^{-9} does not fully preclude a signal at future colliders, as TESLA. We finally comment on the relation of Z->mu e with Z->tau e and Z->tau mu decays, and suggest a simple scaling law for th…
We report the first complete calculation of QCD corrections to the production of a massive color-octet vector boson. Our next-to-leading-order (NLO) calculation includes both virtual corrections as well as corrections arising from the emission of gluons and light quarks, and we demonstrate the reduction in factorization-scale dependence relative to the leading-order approximation used in previous hadron collider studies. We show that the QCD NLO corrections to coloron production are as large as 30%, and that the residual factorization scale-dependence is reduced to of order 2%. We also calcula…
The relativistic corrections to the color-octet $J/ψ$ hadroproduction at the Tevatron and LHC are calculated up to $\mathcal{O}(v^2)$ in nonrelativistic QCD factorization frame. The short distance coefficients are obtained by matching full QCD with NRQCD results for the partonic subprocess $g+g\to J/ψ({}^1S_0^{[8]},{}^3S_1^{[8]}, {}^3P_J^{[8]})+g$, $q+\bar{q}\to J/ψ({}^1S_0^{[8]},{}^3S_1^{[8]}, {}^3P_J^{[8]})+g$ and $g+q({\bar{q}})\to J/ψ({}^1S_0^{[8]},{}^3S_1^{[8]}, {}^3P_J^{[8]})+q({\bar{q}})$. The short distance coefficient ratios of relativistic correction to leading order for color-octet …
We compute the next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the gluon-fusion production of a Higgs boson in models with massive color-octet scalars in the ${\bf (8,1)_0}$ representation using an effective-theory approach. We derive a compact analytic expression for the relevant Wilson coefficient, and explain an interesting technical aspect of the calculation that requires inclusion of the quartic-scalar interactions at next-to-next-to-leading order. We perform a renormalization-group analysis of the scalar couplings to derive the allowed regions of parameter space, and present phenomenolo…
We investigate the signatures at the Large Hadron Collider of a minimal model where the dark matter particle is a Majorana fermion that couples to the Standard Model via one or several coloured mediators. We emphasize the importance of the production channel of coloured scalars through the exchange of a dark matter particle in the t-channel, and perform a dedicated analysis of searches for jets and missing energy for this model. We find that the collider constraints are highly competitive compared to direct detection, and can even be considerably stronger over a wide range of parameters. We al…
Colored dark sectors where the dark matter particle is accompanied by colored partners have recently attracted theoretical and phenomenological interest. We explore the possibility that the dark sector consists of the dark matter particle and a color-octet partner, where the interaction with the Standard Model is governed by an effective operator involving gluons. The resulting interactions resemble the color analogues of electric and magnetic dipole moments. Although many phenomenological features of this kind of model only depend on the group representation of the partner under SU(3)$_c$, we…
It is possible to place direct constraints on WW-photon and WWZ couplings by studying their tree-level contributions to the process e^+e^- ---> W^+W^-. However, these couplings also contribute at the loop level to e^+e^- ---> f fbar processes where `f' is any Standard-Model fermion. In this paper the available LEP1.5 and LEP2 data, the anticipated LEP2 data and possible linear collider data for these latter processes is combined with low-energy and Z-pole data to place indirect constraints on nonstandard WW-photon and WWZ couplings. The direct and indirect constraints are then compared. An eff…
The excess in top quark forward-backward asymmetry has been a hot topic in recent years. Although there are many proposals to explain it, most of them can not fit the differential distributions well. The color octet axial-vector like particle, with mass near the top quark pair threshold, is still a good description of the differential distributions. We study how to distinguish the color singlet and octet mediating particles in top quark pair production by adopting the color flow method. For the first time, we show that such a proposal for the froward-backward asymmetry can be cross-checked ind…
We investigate the detectability of neutralino Dark Matter via direct and indirect searches as well as collider signatures of an $SO(10)$ model with two intermediate scales. We compare the direct Dark Matter detection cross section and the muon flux due to neutralino annihilation in the Sun that we obtain in this model with mSUGRA predictions and with the sensitivity of current and future experiments. In both cases, we find that the detectability improves as the model deviates more from mSUGRA. In order to study collider signatures, we choose two benchmark points that represent the main phenom…
In this paper we consider a general $SU(2)_L\otimes SU(2)_R$ invariant Lagrangian describing scalar, vector and axial-vector resonances. By expanding the WW and the ZZ scattering amplitude up to the fourth order in the external momenta we can compare the parameters of our Lagrangian with the ones used in the effective chiral Lagrangian formalism. In the last approach there has been a recent study of the fusion processes at future e^+e^- colliders at energies above 1 TeV. We use these results to put bounds on the parameter space of our model and to show that for the case of vector resonances th…
Recently we have proved NRQCD color octet factorization of S-wave and P-wave heavy quarkonia production at all orders in coupling constant in QCD in vacuum at high energy colliders in Eur. Phys. J. C76 (2016) 448 and in arXiv:1807.04722 [hep-ph] respectively. In this paper we extend this to prove NRQCD color octet factorization of P-wave heavy quarkonium production in non-equilibrium QCD at RHIC and LHC at all orders in coupling constant. This proof is necessary to study the quark-gluon plasma at RHIC and LHC.
The $N$-jettiness subtraction has proven to be an efficient method to perform differential QCD next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) calculations in the last few years. One important ingredient of this method is the NNLO soft function. We calculate this soft function for one massive colored particle production at hadron colliders. We select the color octet and color triplet cases to present the final results. We also discuss its application in NLO and NNLO differential calculations.
