Multiple D4-D2-D0 on the Conifold and Wall-crossing with the Flop

We study the wall-crossing phenomena of D4-D2-D0 bound states with two units of D4-brane charge on the resolved conifold. We identify the walls of marginal stability and evaluate the discrete changes of the BPS indices by using the Kontsevich-Soibelman wall-crossing formula. In particular, we find that the field theories on D4-branes in two large radius limits are properly connected by the wall-crossings involving the flop transition of the conifold. We also find that in one of the large radius limits there are stable bound states of two D4-D2-D0 fragments.

Wall-crossing of D4-D2-D0 and flop of the conifold

We discuss the wall-crossing of the BPS bound states of a non-compact holomorphic D4-brane with D2 and D0-branes on the conifold. We use the Kontsevich-Soibelman wall-crossing formula and analyze the BPS degeneracy in various chambers. In particular we obtain a relation between BPS degeneracies in two limiting attractor chambers related by a flop transition. Our result is consistent with known results and predicts BPS degeneracies in all chambers.

Flops of any length, Gopakumar-Vafa invariants, and 5d Higgs Branches

The conifold is a basic example of a noncompact Calabi-Yau threefold that admits a simple flop, and in M-theory, gives rise to a 5d hypermultiplet at low energies, realized by an M2-brane wrapped on the vanishing sphere. We develop a novel gauge-theoretic method to construct new classes of examples that generalize the simple flop to so-called length l=1,...,6. Geometric engineering on flops of length two

Type IIA on the conifold is a prototype example for engineering QED with one charged hypermultiplet. The geometry admits a flop of length one. In this paper, we study the next generation of geometric engineering on singular geometries, namely flops of length two such as Laufer's example, which we affectionately think of as the $\it{conifold\ 2.0}$. Branes at Orbifolded Conifold Singularities and Supersymmetric Gauge Field Theories

We consider D3 branes at orbifolded conifold singularities which are not quotient singularities. We use toric geometry and gauged linear sigma model to study the moduli space of the gauge theories on the D3 branes. We find that topologically distinct phases are related by a flop transition. It is also shown that an orbifold singularity can occur in some phases if we give expectation values to some of the chiral fields.

Wall Crossing of BPS States on the Conifold from Seiberg Duality and Pyramid Partitions

In this paper we study the relation between pyramid partitions with a general empty room configuration (ERC) and the BPS states of D-branes on the resolved conifold. We find that the generating function for pyramid partitions with a length n ERC is exactly the same as the D6/D2/D0 BPS partition function on the resolved conifold in particular Kaehler chambers. We define a new type of pyramid partition with a finite ERC that counts the BPS degeneracies in certain other chambers. Conifolds From D-branes

In this note we study the resolution of conifold singularity by D-branes by considering compactification of D-branes on $\C^3/(\Z_2\times\Z_2)$. The resulting vacuum moduli space of D-branes is a toric variety which turns out to be a resolved conifold, that is a nodal variety in $\C^4$. This has the implication that all the corresponding phases of Type--II string theory are geometrical and are accessible to the D-branes, since they are related by flops.

Wall-crossing, Toric divisor and Seiberg duality

We study the wall-crossing phenomena of BPS D4-D2-D0 states on the conifold and orbifold C^2/Z_2, from the viewpoint of the quiver quantum mechanics on the D-branes. The Kahler moduli dependence of the BPS index is translated into the FI parameter dependence of the Witten index. Wall crossing in local Calabi Yau manifolds

We study the BPS states of a D6-brane wrapping the conifold and bound to collections of D2 and D0 branes. We find that in addition to the complexified Kahler parameter of the rigid sphere it is necessary to introduce an extra real parameter to describe BPS partition functions and marginal stability walls. The supergravity approach to BPS state-counting gives a simple derivation of results of Szendroi concerning Donaldson-Thomas theory on the noncommutative conifold. This example also illustrates some interesting limitations on the supergravity approach to BPS state-counting and wall-crossing.

Counting invariant of perverse coherent sheaves and its wall-crossing

We introduce moduli spaces of stable perverse coherent systems on small crepant resolutions of Calabi-Yau 3-folds and consider their Donaldson-Thomas type counting invariants. The stability depends on the choice of a component (= a chamber) in the complement of finitely many lines (= walls) in the plane. We determine all walls and compute generating functions of invariants for all choices of chambers when the Calabi-Yau is the resolved conifold. For suitable choices of chambers, our invariants are specialized to Donaldson-Thomas, Pandharipande-Thomas and Szendroi invariants.

Matrix Model and Refined Wall-Crossing Formula

In this paper, we show how to get matrix models corresponding to the refined BPS states partition functions of $\mathbb{C}^3$, resolved conifold and $\mathbb{C}^3/\mathbb{Z}_2$ by inserting the identity operator at a proper position in the fermionic expression of the refined BPS states partition functions.

Refined Wall-Crossing, Free Fermions and Crystal Melting

In this paper, we use an M-theory model to conjecture the refined reminiscence of the OSV formula connecting the refined topological string partition function with the refined BPS states partition function for the toric Calabi-Yau threefolds without any compact four cycles. Further, we show how to use the vertex operators in 2d free fermions to reproduce the refined BPS states partition function for the $\mathbb{C}^3$ case and the wall-crossing formulas of the refined BPS states partition function for the resolved conifold and $\mathcal{O}(-2)\oplus\mathcal{O}\rightarrow \mathbb{P}^1$ cases.

Brane Configurations for Branes at Conifolds

We study the T duality between a set of type IIB D3 branes atnon-orbifold threefold singularities, and type IIA configurations of D4 branes stretched between relatively rotated NS fivebranes. Gopakumar-Vafa invariants and wall-crossing

In this paper, we generalize a mathematical definition of Gopakumar-Vafa (GV) invariants on Calabi-Yau 3-folds introduced by Maulik and the author, using an analogue of BPS sheaves introduced by Davison-Meinhardt on the coarse moduli spaces of one dimensional twisted semistable sheaves with arbitrary holomorphic Euler characteristics. A Large N Type IIB Duality via a Spin(7) Geometric Transition as an F-theory Flop

Wall Crossing Phenomenology of Orientifolds

We initiate the study of wall crossing phenomena in orientifolds of local toric Calabi-Yau 3-folds from a topological string perspective. We describe wall-crossing for local, toric Calabi-Yau manifolds without compact four-cycles, in terms of free fermions, vertex operators, and crystal melting.
